6 Best Day Trips from San Francisco | Condé Nast Traveler

"Craig and Kathryn Hall helped set the standard for Bordeaux-style wines in modern-day Napa, but your typical wine tasting room this is not. Located at the base of Napa’s majestic Mayacama Mountains, Hall St. Helena sits on 33 acres that celebrate wine and art. More than 35 pieces of contemporary art decorate the winery, with works from internationally renowned artists like Patrick Dougherty and Lawrence Argent, and the vineyard doubles as a museum." - Ana Kamin, Jenna Scatena

A First-Hand Account of Life Inside the Wine Cave | Eater SF

"I attended Pete Buttigieg’s fundraiser at Hall Wines in St. Helena, where a 2016 cabernet priced at $185 was on the table; it “was very good,” but, as I noted, “far more than I’ve ever paid in my life for a bottle of wine.” Hosts Craig and Katherine Hall told the AP that wine caves are common at wineries in Napa Valley and other wine-growing regions because they’re good for storing wine at cool temperatures." - Eve Batey

Burger King Gives Free Impossible Burgers to Travelers Trapped by Flight Delays | Eater SF

"I saw photos from Pete Buttigieg's fundraiser showing guests wined and dined inside St. Helena's Hall Wines' 'famous wine cave' beneath a chandelier featuring 1,500 Swarovski crystals; the largely closed event was hosted by founders Craig and Kathryn Hall, whom reports describe as billionaire Democratic donors whose massive contributions helped land Kathryn Hall the ambassadorship to Austria under President Bill Clinton." - Eve Batey

The most amazing cab! We are club members and we absolutely love the service they provide. They train their staff well to make you feel valued. The view is lovely as you sip your wine and look out into the vineyards. Hall wine has so many choices and I am a forever fsn!

Google
We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting at Hall. Ron, our educator, was knowledgeable and personable, making us feel welcomed while deepening our appreciation of the winemaking process. After visiting two other wineries, we agreed Hall has the best wines. We’ll definitely be back.

Gerald H.

Google
Fantastic cab house in Napa with gorgeous outdoor tasting areas and indoor bar tasting overlooking the valley. Very knowledgeable staff and they will give you popcorn upon request. Hall does allow you to bring food. One of the better wine memberships in Napa.

Liz G.

Google
Ron did our signature tour — we had a fantastic time learning all about the vineyard and wine making process. We loved the cab savs we tried. Hands down our favorite vineyards in the valley! Highly recommend!

Google
Hall is our favorite tasting experience in the valley, so much so that we became members a few years ago. Current wine tasting price is $60 for non members as of 2025. We always have a great experience when we visit hall, no matter who is our host, the service is unparalleled to any other winery in the valley that we have been to. Our Favorite hosts are Joego and Ray, both are very well experienced, friendly, knowledgeable and always provide excellent customer service. While all the wines are excellent a couple of my favs are the Knights Valley Sauvignon Blanc, The Bergfeld and the diamond mountain cab. You cant go wrong with hall, it's always a pleasure visiting!

Tara K.

Google
The property is breathtaking, with carefully curated art that perfectly complements the aesthetic of the cabs. From the moment you arrive, you feel as though you’ve been transported to a grand estate, a harmonious blend of modern elegance and old-world charm. As someone who has studied fashion and sustainability, I was particularly drawn to the intentional design and artwork, especially as you ascend the staircase to the tasting room. Each piece feels purposeful, adding layers to the experience. The staff were warm and personable, expertly guiding us through The Art of Cabernet tasting. They shared fascinating details about the vineyard’s history, its visionary owners, and the captivating art on each bottle. After the tasting, we took our time strolling the grounds, soaking in the serene beauty of the estate. If you’re planning a trip to the area, we absolutely recommend booking a visit and, if you can, joining their wine club to savor these remarkable wines for years to come. I truly loved this place! It’s an experience not to be missed.

Katie H.

Google
Must visit for Cabernet Sauvignon lovers! The winery is totally stunning, thanks to Kathryn Hall’s taste in art and design. We got to try several different Cab’s during the tasting which were delicious. We did a basic tasting at the bar, which still felt personalized thanks to our wine educator who shared the stories and science with each glass. This is exactly what we were looking for while in Napa.

Google
4 Stars: Beautiful, But Maybe Less Is More HALL Wines in St. Helena is absolutely stunning – like a wine lover’s Pinterest dream come true. From the sleek, modern architecture to the artfully curated vineyards, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re on a movie set… except with wine, not drama. The wines? Well, they were… fine. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely drinkable. I was here with a large group, and while it’s definitely set up for that – tons of room and perfect for a group selfie – it felt a little crowded. My suggestion? Go solo or with just a few people to really soak in the vibe. If you’re like me and enjoy the quiet elegance of your surroundings, a smaller group might let you appreciate it more (and get served faster). Overall, worth a visit, just maybe scale down your entourage for maximum enjoyment!

Yelp
Hall winery is out new favorite! We became members last summer. The grounds are beautiful with lots of attractive artwork. For members there is an outside lounge seating area with comfortable cushions and a large lawn. Hall is one of the few wineries that allows you to bring outside food. One beautiful summer day we came with our friends, children and grandchildren and had a fabulous picnic and sipped wine while the kids played on the lawn, Hall is one of the only wineries I know of where you can send two friends to taste for free and you don't have to be there with them. For a first time experience I recommend taking the tour. It is an excellent overview and not too long and dull- at the end you sit in a private room with light snacks and taste some delicious wines. If you join then the tasting is free. If you know a friend who is a member use their name and after your second order you get one of their top Cabernets for only $1.(If no friend use my name Mary Conway ) After a year of membership you get invited to special events as part of the GEMS club. Membership also includes free tasting at BACA and Walt wineries. The longer you are a member, the better the discounts. After two years, Members receive a 20% discount on these wines. After three years, Members receive a 25% discount on these wines. In summary this is my new favorite winery. I have friends who visit from out of state and they can taste for free even if I can't join them, the wines are delicious and it's a fabulous place to bring you own food and have a picnic by the lawn at the members lounge!

Yelp
I joined the Signature Tour and had Mary as my host. Mary was very enjoyable and interesting to interact with. She was knowledgeable about the history of HALL Wines. I thought it was interesting of how the format of the Signature Tour was set. First we all come out to the front to try the Sauvignon Blanc while Mary explains the start of HALL Wines. After that, the group strolls towards the vineyards and try out the grapes on the vines. I liked how the grapes were labeled, so we knew which grapes turned into which wines. We walk up to the second level, where we watch a video of how they use a machine generated wine maker to collect the best grapes to make wine. I was hoping we would explore the space a bit more, but the room was just for watching the 5ish minute video. Very interesting, and Mary was explaining some things more in depth afterwards. After that, we go into a specific room (felt like a conference room), and begin our wine tasting. You'll end up sitting with your tour group for the tasting. I enjoyed the little snacks they provided but I do wish there was a small paper or explanation of what everything was (like specifying what cheese and nuts are plated). I noticed that this wine tasting was all Cabernet Sauvignon, so I personally couldn't differentiate each easily since the flavors started mixing together. I think it would be nice to mix up some of the wines to taste the profiles more. Overall an enjoyable experience though!

Yelp
We pass this by throughout the years we've been going to Napa so we stopped to check it out. WOW! We ordered a glass of wine and walked around . Impressive. Upstairs you can do tasting and sit in the balcony looking out to the vineyard and go down the stairs and walk and sitting areas everywhere . So relaxing. Now I know why my son became a member of the winery.

Yelp
Tom was great! He showed us around the vineyard and was very knowledgeable about the wine. Highly recommend the Cabernet collectors experience!

Yelp
Hall is a winery known for their bold cabernets. They have great wine and their tasting room is on a beautiful property filled with art, vineyards and friendly staff. Our host Colton was super friendly, had a great sense of humor and was attentive to our group. We sat out by their grass area and had a great time. Though I believe Hall has moved to a more commercial/corporate style winery, staff such as Colton are what make it feel homey. If you like taking selfies and sharing in the spotlight there's plenty of space to do so here, if you enjoy a more private setting there are other smaller wineries in the area that provide a more intimate setting. All in all, Hall is a great place to visit for some great reds in the area!
google avatar

Shawna G.

Yelp
My friend is a member at Hall wines and part of her membership includes complimentary tastings at not one but three locations; Hall, Walt and Baca. We come for the complimentary tastings and sit in the members lounge with the comfy white seats in the lawn area and enjoy the spring and summer weather. Alex has helped us both times that we came here! He has a lot of knowledge on the wines from being a wine lover himself and he knows a lot about the history of wines. I love Hall for their selection of Cabernets, they are always lovely! I love their seating areas for tastings and the views here are so beautiful especially being close to the vineyards. A lot of times when wine tasting you are stuck in a tasting room but the best part of being here is getting to be outside and sip your wine in the members lounge. Members have the option to change out their wine shipment with anything from their tastings with I think it's awesome because then you get to choose the wines you like. The property has tons of art pieces that have been collected over time and make Hall a special a unique place. If you're looking for a place to settle on a membership for wine, this place is a great choice!

Yelp
Nice outdoor patio with plenty of shade and comfortable chairs to enjoy the wine. Nice place to taste wine!

Yelp
This is a great winery to visit while in Napa. They do accept walk-ins so you don't have to make reservations which is rare when it comes to Napa wineries. They served us an amazing class of white wine and were not over the top expensive. I believe for food items they have charcuterie boards and appetizers, however we didn't order any food. The ambiance is amazing! Amazing vineyards the winery is actually pretty large in size. I would recommend for your next trip to Napa!

Kayt D.

Yelp
The wines are great, but our recent experience was extremely disappointing. We were wine club members and stopped in to pickup our most recent wine club allotment. We told the front desk we would like to purchase a few other wines and asked if we could taste them. We made it clear that we did not need to do a full tasting. We were told they were too busy, but after some persistence, they sent us upstairs. The guy pouring wine upstairs informed us in a very unwelcoming manner that there was no room for us, despite the fact that we were members and had only requested a few wines to taste for purchase. Needless to say, we cancelled our membership.

Yelp
Loved our Hall experience!! Damon our wine host was amazing and explained each wine thoroughly. I prefer red wine and I especially loved Kathryn Hall. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Yelp
Hall wines, service and ambience were amazing. Everything was perfect!! Thank you Hall winery!! I'll be back for more wine...

Yelp
This was our first tasting at Hall and our first time in Napa, and this was our favorite spot of the whole trip!! The wine was spectacular, our tour was so informative and our guide Joego was INCREDIBLE! He was so funny and entertaining while teaching our group so much about the Hall family, their art, and wine making process. We will most certainly be coming back!

Yelp
This winery is a staple in Napa. The wines are some of the best. The service here is wonderful. Nashelli took care of us and was very knowledgeable about all the Hall wines and also about Napa. It will be a trip to remember because of Nashelli. The Jacks Masterpiece was fantastic.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely the worst experience at a winery that I have ever had. We were served a wine that apparently should only go to "special" members and we got to hear a lecture on how we should not have tasted this wine. Ummmm what? Then the wines we did try were soooo underwhelming. The location seems like a sterile hospital room void of any personality and you have nowhere to sit. The service was sooo slow and we disliked the wines so much that we left before the tasting was complete. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
HALL Winery in Napa, that seemed to be more like an art gallery than winery. The estate itself was beautiful and large with such a cool layout. You can tell that HALL wines really values art. I've only been to one winery before this and the tasting was quite different. This one was more of a walking tour and as soon as me and my gals friends arrived, we were escorted to a lady waiting for us to show us around the property. We were greeted warmly enough but it was a bit awkward with us asking for some wine while we all stood around. After some time, she let us know we were actually waiting for some other folks to join our group and after a bit, we started our tour around the property. The overall experience was nice but just that, nothing more and nothing less. I did love touring the whole area, with its super impressive layout and history but felt the tour was not as interactive as the other winery experience I've had both before & after this. After the tour, we had a tasting in a private room upstairs which was absolutely gorgeous. The wines they had us taste were nice but all had similar profiles and, for a wine novice like myself, it wasn't terribly informative. Overall, if you are a wine connoisseur and love HALL Wines, this is a cool place to check out. But if you are a wine novice, only come here if you are interested in seeing some cool art and beautiful property.

Yelp
Enjoyed our experience at Hall so much, this time we returned as members. Took some friends to visit and they were equally impressed. Ron, our guide, was super knowledgeable about the wines and history of the place. We enjoyed the tour and loved the art. If I had to give feedback, I would say maybe start the tour with something cold and refreshing on a 97 degree day. Maybe the new champagne? :-)

Yelp
Nashelli made our tasting! She was so sweet, hospitable, and fun. We had the best morning tasting all the wines outside on the patio!

Yelp
Great time here celebrating my best friend's birthday! We were hosted by Joego and he made sure our glasses were filled and our time was joyous! This is a large property with the wine tasting room on the 2nd floor -- with beautiful views of the vineyard!
google avatar

Travis T.

Yelp
A lot of wineries gatekeep their $200+ bottles by charging $75+ for a tasting. Not HALL! For $45 you get to try four of their cab sauvs including two that retail for $225. All four were very good, definition of fruit-forward, bold Napa cabs. The outdoor area with the fire pit overlooking the vineyard was beautiful.
google avatar

Hughes C.

Yelp
I honestly cannot hate the wines here. They are great. They are pricey. But they are Napa cabs. The Signature Tour tasting is well worth it...allowing you to try 4 different cabs on top of a Walt pinot during the tour. I don't have the materials so don't quite recall the vintages offered. It's a very designer-centric sort of winery with some historical fixtures...you'll see a ton of art pieces throughout the property. Our host, Ron? (I think that was his name...rocks a fedora) did a great job introducing the history behind Hall wines. We got to taste the Eighteen Seventy-Three, Jack's Masterpiece, Mt. Vedeer, and Kathryn Hall cabs. I would say the Eighteen Seventy-Three is a drink now cab, easy to drink and approachable; not too big a fan of Jack's Masterpiece...it seems to be stuck in this level that is neither accessible nor truly distinguished, occupying a muddled space between tiers, offering heft without harmony and ambition without execution; once you get into the Mt. Veeder tier, including the Kathryn Hall, it really becomes personal preference. These wines have great structure, complex flavors, and will age well. And if you are regularly buying these types of wines, Yelp reviews shouldn't be guiding you anyway so I don't have much to contribute here. However, I will note that through my brother's connection, we were able to try the 2021 Exzellenz and that was ultimately the bottle my group purchased. Great wines though pricey; come here if you are into that upper-tier level of in-your-face, high alcohol, Napa cab wines. Is the price justified? That is entirely up to you. Most surely not an everyday type of wine for most of us.
google avatar

Yelp
There is so much natural beauty in Napa to take in... There is so much great wine in Napa to consume... There is so much great service to experience in Napa... Why did we end up at a sterile, tastelessly expensive, and non-friendly winery like Hall you say? If you want to know why, ask 'Laveńa' from Miami who gave us the recommendation because we are no longer speaking to her for this nasty recommendation! It was tough to decide which was worse, the wine or the service. There were 6 parties tasting wine; five being serviced by 1 team member and 1 couple being serviced by 1 team member. The service as beyond slow and short as the one team member was hustling to service the five groups and didn't have time to explain anything we were being served. Kudos for the free show' as one team member reprimanded another for giving an extra tasting of the sparkling wine that is only for Club Members. I don't feel this place was suffering from lack of employees as the front desk had 6 team members just chatting and hanging out as we walked out. Please get some help for the lone wine server upstairs! Now the wine... well... let's just not. It's the first time our party emptied all of glasses into the spittoons once the wine server turned her back! Skip this place and enjoy your wine elsewhere Napa!

Harry P.

Yelp
$25 for a glass of wine in a plastic wine glass.? Got kicked out of the patio area because we were not doing a tasting. Not a good experience.

Yelp
We've been Hall members since Dec of 2024 and visit the St. Helena location several times annually--but our July 2025 visit truly stood out thanks to Alex Le Clerc, our wine educator that day. Alex was hands down the best wine educator we've ever had at Hall. He struck the perfect balance between being attentive and allowing us space to savor the wines and the atmosphere. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. For example, earlier in the tasting I had mentioned wanting more shade. Without any reminder, Alex later moved us to a shadier table when one became available--such a thoughtful touch! He also noticed we were short on space and brought over an extra coffee table so we could relax without juggling our glasses and personal items. That level of service made an already great tasting experience feel effortless and special. Hall never disappoints, but Alex elevated our visit to another level. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
Hall is probably my fav spot for an exquisite bottle of wine/tasting. We went for a Member's Lounge tasting this past Memorial Day weekend. The space is so bright, designed well to enjoy the green space, the vineyard, but stay in the shade for a hot day in St Helena. I highly recommend Ubering there/back because they serve so many tastings of wine. If you're in the member's lounge, you can bring your own food, so we brought a whole charcuterie board! You could even DoorDash food to the member's lounge. It was totally worth it! I was really happy with the tasting, learning about the history of Hall family, previous owners, and the special stories behind each bottle. I appreciate their sustainable practices too. This is a great business to support. The tasting is red wine forward and absolutely blew me away. Probably some of the best reds I've had in CA. My favorite was the Ellie! This was such a special experience and I hope to come back with friends!

Yelp
This was our first trip to Napa. We visited several wineries. Hall was hands down my favorite experience. It was what I "Thought" wine tastings were. We walked the grounds learned about the owners, the history, the process of wine making and seeing the vines. Tasting the grapes was one of my favorite parts. The wine tasting are throughout the tour then you end in a beautiful room with yummy snacks and more tastings. Our guide was friendly and so full of knowledge. You are not required to do a tour they do offer many seating areas for tastings. The grounds are beautiful and full of amazing art installations!

Yelp
This place was beautiful! Vineyards left and right. Service was great, everyone was welcoming. The view from the bar, where we did the wine tasting, was gorgeous even on a cloudy rainy day! The structures were modern and clean.

Yelp
Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. The ambiance is nice. The winery offers some snacks. We were at the gallery and no food allowed. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. Thank you.

Yelp
We came here for the Cabernet Sauvignon tasting. Pairings with the tasting in the photo, left to right: Manchego cheese, beet tartare, fried grapes with whipped ricotta on polenta cracker, duck rillette, leek tart, and goat cheese panna cotta. It was not too crowded when we came on a weekday, so the service was attentive and highly educational. This winery is a beautiful space and worth a visit.

Yelp
One of the best wine tasting experiences I've ever had was with Ray during the HALLmark Tour & Tasting! I've been tasting all over California and Ray's knowledge about the science behind wine was so valuable to me. Not only did I learn about what makes HALL so special, I learned about the art on the property and universal knowledge about how I interact with wine on a day to day basis. The wines here are AMAZING! My aunt and uncle are devoted members to this winery because of the impeccable wines, and Ray leading us through the tour really reaffirmed this for me. It was my first time visiting the winery and I now know why they always talk so highly of this place. Thank you Ray for creating a fun introduction to the winery for me and thank you HALL for valuing fine art on the beautiful property.

Yelp
We enjoyed our visit to and tour of Hall Wines. Our tour guide Ron was fantastic -- highly knowledgeable and a great personality. Ironically, we were visiting for our 25th silver wedding anniversary, so seeing the gigantic silver bunny was icing on the cake! Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
We've been Hall members since December 2024, and my wife and I visit the St. Helena location several times a year. Our July 2025 visit was the most exceptional yet, thanks to Alex Le Clerc, our wine educator. Alex delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. He was attentive without being intrusive, gave us plenty of space to enjoy the wines, and consistently anticipated our needs--often before we even voiced them. He took great care of my wife and daughter. For example, Alex moved us to a shadier table as soon as one became available after hearing my wife's preference earlier in the tasting. He also noticed we were short on space and brought over an extra table to make things more comfortable. What truly set Alex apart was how proactive he was. He thoughtfully reviewed our upcoming wine delivery and brought us a taste of a different wine to consider, giving us the opportunity to adjust our shipment in case we preferred something else. That kind of personalized attention made us feel genuinely valued as members. Hall has always been a favorite of ours, but Alex made this visit feel next level. We'll definitely be back--and will be hoping to see him again.

Yelp
Had a great time here! Our host Tom was fabulous - friendly and very knowledgeable. We did the St Helena Mountain Cabernet Experience, where we got to try several cabs from different mountain regions to compare how they tasted - all paired with small bites. Ended up purchasing two bottles - they were pricey but worth it, plus if you get one of the platinum bottles, it's only $1 shipping! The estate is beautiful so we also enjoyed just walking around. Will definitely return and try one of their other many experiences!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Brenda was an excellent tour guide who gave great information regarding the wines we tasted and made our tour a great experinence. She was very welcoming to the entire group and was very approachable in her manner. We will be back and will hope to tour with her again.

Yelp
Check in Hostess manager Taylor was very rude! Customer service was not there, and I get it if he is busy or overwhelmed but that is not a way to talk to your members or customers in general. Hostess on top Kim was nicer & was able to seat us all together with no issues. Not sure why Taylor told us it would be very hard to get us all together when there were lots of space open when we arrived. Ray our server was super nice. He was welcoming & very knowledgeable with the wines that he was serving us. Hall is a beautiful place & even though it was a rainy day it was still really nice. Hall is getting a good review because of the rest of the service we did not let the bad service from the manager spoil our time there.

Yelp
Beautiful place but it's definitely best to be a member. The service was great but the tasting accommodations were full. We order a glass and sat next to the vineyard. The atmosphere was fine and was very nice.

Yelp
Enjoyed a tasting experience at HALL during our Napa trip. Short Version: Very cool estate and love all their detail to art. Wine was nice, but our line up on this specific tasting was very similar to each other, so left a little to be desired. Though the service was friendly, our tour/wine guide also left a little to be desired. The detailed version: I am very glad I got to check out this estate and enjoy their tasting experience. They really do put a lot of thought and funny humor into their art pieces all across the estate. The history involved, is also very cool. Our guide, though friendly, did not really explain the lay of the land. We first to check in and directed towards her, upon arrival, she simply handed us glasses and poured some wine. She didn't let us know we were waiting for other guests, what the tour would entail or really any details or greeting. Once the rest of the guests arrived, we departed for a tour of the vineyard. Out group size ended up being about 15-18 total people, not exclusive, but also not too large. After checking out the space and enjoying our white, apparently one of the only ones they have, we were led to our tasting room. They had a lovely arrangement of cheeses, nuts, crackers and meats to pari, but no notes on the wine we would be tasting or even a menu. The only thing laid out was their ordering brochure. It would have been so nice to have had a menu laid out of the wines we would be tasting, along with some general tasting notes, but instead we just were told and given a few small details. It was a beautiful property and I did enjoy my experience and it was well worth a visit, but I am not sure I would explore a return visit.

Yelp
Gorgeous scenery and grounds and awesome member tasting area. Service is spectacular and if you get Jogo, you are in for a treat. Super knowledgable, fun and friendly staff for sure. The wines are super good here from whites to reds, but the cabs are the big draw for me. Ample parking and dog friendly.

Yelp
Mediocre wines and not great services unless you are a member. Members have access to their lounge -- they only real seating/dining area. Food is NOT available here. Which is very disappointed. Expected at least some charcuterie boards to pair with their wine. But the staff person at the Members Lounge just said that the area is open to members only and members bring their own food. The wine we tried was OK, but we liked other nearby wines more. The best part for me was the bocce court, and the art all around the property -- each with a funny sign next to it.

Yelp
We spent an excellent afternoon at Hall Winery. We live in the Bay Area and come to the Napa Valley frequently for wine tasting. We had not visited Hall so we went on a weekday afternoon. A reservation was not needed. Ray took care of us and he is what made the experience so good. Not only was the wine good but Ray was friendly and he educated us on why Hall wines were so expensive and he did such a good job that we paid over $200 per bottle for Cab. Ray gave us an extra pour of some wine that was open and invited us back anytime & to request him. He treated us well and we will be back!

Yelp
Amazing vineyard with an elegant tasting room in St. Helena. If you like a great Cabernet wine, you should try the flat of four wines. The vineyard, art, sculptures, water feature combined with the wine tasting, made for a nice afternoon in Napa Valley.

Yelp
What a beautiful winery! Be sure to check out the numerous art installations, inside and outside on the grounds. We so enjoyed our tour and wine tasting. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and made our visit educational and fun. And their wines are fabulous!

Yelp
We've come here several times throughout the years and each time has been memorable with today being no exception. Today, my family and I stopped by in celebration of our son's 21st birthday. Laramie was our hostess and she was great - just about everything you'd want in the person attending and serving. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and quick on her feet as there were a couple of different parties there today. Man, she didn't miss a beat! The wines are crazy good with both the Jack's Masterpiece Cab and Howell Mountain Cab being my personal favorites. We're planning on a visit next Spring and we might just need to come back and see what's new. Overall, a great place to visit.

Yelp
Over many decades, I've enjoyed numerous winery tours/tastings. Without a doubt the Hall winery tour is the best ever! It begins with a casual taste in a garden; glass in hand you can sip your way through the outdoor sculpture gardens learning the history behind the Halls vision and commitment to excellence. After a brief, informative video highlighting Halls unique approach to high quality wine making, your group sits down to sample some of the BEST cabs available. The experience is more akin to sharing fine wine in a friends home than a traditional tasting room sampling. Our guide, Ron was very informative, humorous, inviting and professional. Thank you to all of the Hall family for a truly remarkable experience

Yelp
Hall is such a great brand that I discovered while in Dallas of all places for work. Then coming home went to the winery. Huge fan of all things red and the finish is beautiful. Tasting room is gorgeous, some ev charging in the parking lot. It was a pretty hot weekend when we went but they did a decent job of cooling the inside off. Would come back again and visit the other sites for whites.

Yelp
Our visit to Hall Winery was exceptionally positive. The setting is lovely and the wines were outstanding. We were in the lovely members area and our sommelier Ray was particularly skilled at making us comfortable and explaining the various wines in a knowledgeable , but not intimidating manner. He was enthusiastic, but not aggressive as some soms can be. We so enjoyed it visit and look forward to returning with our numerous guests,

Yelp
My love/hate relationship with Hall Wines continues. I'm simultaneously put off by and attracted to what I think of as Hall's "extra-ness". It's always felt to me a bit too splashy, like someone had a ton of money and wished to show off that fact. Sometimes I can appreciate aspects (the art, the wine, the setting) of Hall but there's always something about it that leaves me unsettled. In an earlier review I reflected on a very unengaging cooking demo about which others around me felt the same. This time my experience was different but equally unimpressive. I'm sticking with the 4-stars as Hall is quite a show-pony but if I'm fully honest that 4th star is only aspirational; Hall did nothing to earn it on my most recent visit. As a member of a sister wine club with tasting privileges at Hall I reserved a 3-person weekday tasting. The "members only" patio on which that tasting takes place is lovely but the service? Abysmal. This is how you treat your best customers? Shortly after taking a seat someone came by for a hot moment to deliver a splash of something then disappeared. A very long while later I found myself flagging down someone else, trying to get someone to continue our tasting experience. He tried, I saw it, but whoever was supposed to be serving us was either overbooked, incompetent, or both. I'm not someone who requires or enjoys much wine banter but just getting the wines for my tasting proved unnecessarily difficult and hospitality MIA. Hall produces very nice, pricey wines and serves them up in a lovely, art and view-filled Instagram-worthy setting. I didn't have a 4-star experience on my most recent visit but there's no reason why Hall shouldn't be capable of delivering one.
