On the Grid : Halloween Town

"Creature effect artist Wayne Toth is a horror film industry veteran, having for over twenty years crafted Hollywood's gloomy sets and realistically creepy monsters. Together with his wife Jackie, they took their passion and built a year-round Halloween mecca, beginning with one shop and expanding to three separate Halloween boutiques less than a block apart. These are more than just costume and prop shops, Halloween Town is also an art gallery and movie prop museum designed to spook and intrigue. Their sister shops down the street house every Halloween costume ever made, and another specialty store just for kids." - Jennifer Beatty

Google
Such an amazing experience! Love the fact it’s year round and not your typical Spirit Store. They carry everything under the sky, with unique items and collectibles.

Google
Love this store, any halloween/horror fans should visit this place, it will not disappoint. I'll be returning soon to look for more things! There's so much to look at you definitely will find different things everytime you visit. 🎃👻

Google
Staff was pretty rude. I bought 2 pinhead monsters. I asked the cashier if I can inspect them before I pay & he gave me attitude & was rude. Only took them out of the box, did not let me unwrap the plastic. When I got home, one of them was cracked. I’m assuming that’s why they didn’t let me open them all the way in the store. They have a no refund, all sales are final policy so I am stuck with a cracked pinhead. Pricey & damaged. No good

Google
My friend dragged me in here because she’s a big Halloweenie. I’m not really into Halloween. Anyway, the store is pretty big, fun and cool. It was crowded though because Halloween is a month away. The store is practically a theme park. They have it set up to look very cool. There are all kinds of t shirts and toys and Knick knacks. There are tons of decor items for your house and even to set up a haunted house. I didn’t get to see the costumes but my friend said they sell them. This place seems way better than those weird pop up Halloween stores. Parking in the rear and meter parking available.

Google
Very cool atmosphere, the studio lights highlight the horror objects of interest. There are a lot of horror collectibles and many accessories that you might not find in any other store. The staff are very helpful at finding what you are looking for. If horror and Halloween is your cup of tea then this shop is a must visit.

Google
The place is great only to browse through. You'll find, action figures, spell books, cardboard cutouts, Halloween Decor etc. but actually buying something will cost you an arm and a leg. I just find it scummy how they will upcharge their merch, tell you not to look up prices online while in store and refuse returns. The employees are kind tho. Never really felt like I was being followed or anything from the many times I've come to the store. But please read the rules before coming into the store because once they catch you breaking the rules you'll be yelled at

Morgan Clarke

Google
very cool store, and i appreciate all the collectibles i get from there, but often they have closed early despite their google availability and store hours on the door saying otherwise which is quite disappointing

Google
Awesome store!!! This place did not disappoint. Tons of great items to choose from. Lots of cool vintage reproductions, art and collectors edition items. I was bummed we couldn't see the other stores but this one was great

Yelp
Very cool year round horror/Halloween shop! We stopped in while in the area and to waste some time. Being as it is a novelty shop and in the LA area, a lot of items were very pricy so I did not purchase anything, but I still loved the whole vibe of the store. They had lots of animatronics and even a massive Coraline statue. I liked that there were different themed rooms that you could walk in and they even had old timey Halloween decorations which I loved. They even had a whole wall of t-shirts for sale! It's a great place to shop of unique gifts and/or Halloween decorations -- they also have a costume shop a block away. I can't really comment on service since I didn't buy anything, but definitely check this place out if you're ever in the area!

Yelp
great place in the analope Valley to shop during big selection and helpful staff thanks

Yelp
This store has been on my bookmark/collection for quite some time. I hardly am in this area but when I knew I would be somewhat in the area, I decided to make a mandatory stop. The store actually has a new location which is literally a few doors/feet down. You can park on the street or on the side of store but not too many spots. As soon as you step foot into the store, you are transported to Halloween Town, Spooky Town, or your worst nightmare. From classic horror films to pop culture villains, you will find anything your little black heart desires. Prices are a bit high but lots of items to choose from. Definitely a place to check out, especially if you are spooky!

Yelp
This spot is amazing for Halloween lovers. I wish we had this in Vegas. It has so much detail and artifacts you wouldn't even think of. From party supplies to cute little magnets. They have it all. Pop in and visit you won't regret it

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and I've felt uncomfortable every single time. I'm too scared to even glance at my phone as I'm afraid one of the workers is going to tell me off. No store should ever make anyone feel that way. Also, EVERYTHING is beyond overpriced and their selection is not great. Please do not make the mistake of buying anything from there as you can easily find it much cheaper literally anywhere else.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
I like the place and idea of it. Stopped by while I was in southern California. I noticed that there was a lot of ridiculous rules. No photos, limited browsing, no price checking on your phone, and all sales final. I was happy with my purchase of a bethany lowe candy bucket, but my best friend was beyond pissed after buying 2 super overpriced coraline dolls. I don't blame him, I would have been pissed too. Not sure if I would go back.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Unwelcoming rules are posted everywhere. The sign for "No Price Checking" cracked me up... Honestly just came here to have a laugh but then found 10 pages of one star reviews! yikes! Employees were fine but.. I assume they're burdened with even more rules. Do your research before you go and don't get caught on your phone.
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
Made a trip out to visit the majestic museum. So I decided while I was there I was gonna head over to Halloweentown. Felt a little uncomfortable about the signs posted everywhere that you're not allowed to look up prices on your phone or take any pictures. The prices in the store are very overpriced, which is probably why they have a policy that you can't look up pricing. I did eventually find something that I wanted to purchase something I've been looking for for awhile and when I went to check out, I was told that they didn't accept Apple Pay even though when I look on Apple Maps, the information that's provided on there says they accept contactless payment. So needless to say, I was a little bummed and didn't purchase anything and probably won't be back because I can purchase elsewhere for cheaper.

Yelp
Traveled all the way to visit this place to buy a bunch of gifts. They have the worst customer service I've ever had, honestly best thing to do is go on Amazon. really hate to say that, but if you're gonna hire people to treat people like they're stupid ...... watch out for this guy

Evan J.

Yelp
I have so many great memories at this place since I was a kid! Such a cool vibe to the store, great products that you can't really find anywhere else. I love how it's open year round too and I know other halloween fans love this aspect as well! best t shirts too! But most of all, the staff is so helpful and nice and always start up conversations with the customers and you can really tell they care about customer comfort!
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
I went to the Halloween Town gifts and decor store, not the costume store. Considering Halloween Town is only open select days of the week, I expected the store to be empty. Whoa was I wrong. It was packed with anxious Halloween shoppers who like me, needed decorations. This store has everything! I could spend all day just looking great displays. My only wish is for lower prices.
google avatar

Laura D.

Yelp
I love this store. Prices I say are pretty fair on 90%. But it's definitely my go to stop for most things Dracula and bat themed items. Quite spacious. So much to see but I'll respect their wishes and no photography But definitely a great place for Halloween decor, home spooky decor and toys! I always spend so much money here, I need to come supervised lol
google avatar

Malia M.

Yelp
I'm not a person to leave negative reviews, and this isn't a judgement of the staff itself, as part of their job is to enforce store policies. However, I see a huge red flag in the signs that say "No online price comparisons" (in addition to no photos, and a few other rules listed). Why list this rule if you aren't wildly overpricing items? A small patch (about 2" square), which doesn't have the price displayed until it's out of the glass case only accessible by a team member, priced at $10 seems excessive, and an online search for the same item is about half price. I suppose you could walk outside and price compare, but why the aggressive stance?

Irazer K.

Yelp
when i bought vampire teeth, the seller asked for a physical card and my id, i put the cards on the table and started to get the id. the seller turned all 3 of my cards up with the data. i give 1 star because i had to reissue the cards. i couldn't be sure that there was no camera and the seller wasn't a thief maybe they steal bank card data

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I'll never come here again . This place is overhyped and under delivers. I waited in a long line to even get in, purchased a costume, and when I opened it up, I could see red makeup stained on fabric. They are selling us used costumes at full price and I've called and left multiple messages, and no one has returned my call. $60 straight to the trash.

Serinna B.

Yelp
Came in here with some family members. I love all things Halloween so I am sort of familiar with what things should be priced as. Definitely overpriced but I still bought some things I haven't seen before for a good price. I had no idea you couldn't take photos and no one ever confronted me nor did I see any noticeable signs. My family was followed but the guy never uttered a word to them and they even told him can I help you??? And he never spoke a word. I was price comparing certain items I never saw before as well and he didn't say anything. I was however told to show an ID for using my DEBIT card. After reading the reviews I definitely see why. Definitely won't be back here :)

Yelp
Hi former employee here, and recently went back to visit the store after 2 years as this store gives me PTSD from working here. Went back in and saw nothing has changed. Everything is still very overpriced, you can buy everything they sell there for a fraction of the price anywhere else; Spirit Halloween when they're open - or online, Amazon, eBay, legitimate with one google search / you can find your item for more than half off. As for my experience working here, the owner is not a good person as she used to encourage us the employees to racially profile the customers, and used to say the nastiest things about them. Which is why the employees seem, so nasty when you walk in. One time she asked me to follow a woman with darker skin pigmentation because she looked "suspicious". She didn't look any different than anyone else, and when i refused to do it - she told me I was being "insubordinate". Countless meal and break infractions were also committed and we were not allowed to report them or claim them which is illegal. She fired my friend (who I made working there), because she helped out a customer who unfortunately did not buy anything - hence she was wasting company time. She made us sign NDAs about the store, and also didn't allow us to shop anywhere else in Magnolia (Mystic Museum, Dark Delicacies, etc). If we were caught in another store, it'd be immediate termination. She also does tax fraud to ensure her business stays open, and sells illegal Disney merchandise that wasn't approved by the company. Do not purchase the Disney items there. On top of being racist, and misogynistic- she's a huge Trump supporter and purchases the hats to support his campaign only to resell them at a higher price as a "costume". She does not care about her employees or mental health, and would be upset if I took an extra 5 minutes to breathe because of how overwhelmed I'd get with her spying on us with her "security" cameras. I once asked my friend what her schedule looked like, and I received an email just minutes later asking me not to discuss the schedule with anyone as "that was confidential." Attached another photo to prove that she uses these cameras to eavesdrop on employees, and customers. I genuinely hope this place closes and shuts down soon. I know there's former (and current) employees that are planning on taking legal action against her very soon, so I hope the day and karma gets her in 2023.
google avatar

Brianna C.

Yelp
It's a cool place to visit and look around, but the prices are ridiculous! There are some hidden gems, but you really need to work hard to find them. There are a variety of items, characters, and styles of merchandise.
google avatar

Claire R.

Yelp
Nice selection of items. Not the best prices. Never been here. Walked in for the first time and said "hello" to the front end employees behind the counter, ignored. Said it again and was ignored on purpose. Another customer walks in and they get greeted. If you like being followed around the store, patronized and looked down on for your Halloween shopping; this place is for you. Found a way better costume for my son on Amazon.

Jerimah J.

Yelp
Cool place for halloween stuff and for halloween fans. There is 2 stores and one is for house decor and other is for costumes.

Ilene L.

Yelp
We arrived at 6:05 pm on a Saturday. They close at 6:30. At 6:10 they started closing down sections and flickering the lights. At 6:15 started telling people they were closing and they would have to leave (including us). The store had quite a few paying customers at the time. If I owned this store I would have fired these employees who were in such a hurry to get out. Yearly I have spent hundreds of dollars at this store - not any more!
google avatar

Ann O.

Yelp
The costume shop is only open on weekends currently so check ahead. The prices are on the high side but the shop is a Halloween lovers dream. Whether you are decorating or looking for gifts, you will find unique quality items.
google avatar

Quintin E.

Yelp
Emporium of halloween and all things festive as well as of the occult including tarot cards, charms and books. They have a ton of novelty items and even some limit selections of costumes, but a plethora of masks behind the registers at the front half of this giant shop or horrors. Always enjoy popping in to see what's been added, rotated out and wrecking it's year around enchantment on the city of Burbank off Magnolia Blvd & Niagara St.... Always tons of street parking and only street. Halloween Town has a sister location of strictly costumes and costume accessories known as Halloween Town Costumes about a quick block/stroll down. The service is always amazing and you can find some fun collectibles, gifts and truly spooky fun in this town of Halloween.

Yelp
OMG! WOW! DAMN! This is one hella of a store!!! This was my 1st time in this store, and it won't be my last. This is one the coolest Halloween-themed store. Just imagine a store thats like Hot Topic, Spencers, Spirit Halloween and your local comic book store under one roof. If you are looking for some creepy spooky gothic Halloween stuff, then Halloween Town is the place to go. They have toys, t-shirts, books, socks, jewelry and what not from many horror movies and TV shows. You won't be disappointed at all. Some items seemed overpriced but why drive around town to look for a cheaper price and it's not that much to be honest. I highly recommend Halloween Town! BTW they don't allow you take photos inside the store.

Maya J.

Yelp
The store is cool but the employees are extremely rude and unwelcoming. I didn't know there was a no beverages rule and i walked in with my coffee. I totally understand if a business doesn't want you bringing things in and normally I would have just walked back out to my car and left my drink in there while I looked around in the store. Unfortunately the employee at the front desk snapped at me immediately upon walking in. It's very easy to nicely inform someone of a store policy but he just made me feel terrible and completely unwelcome. He was so mean that I didn't even feel comfortable going back in the store after i finished my drink. It's a shame because I was excited to look around and shop.

Kristi S.

Yelp
Awesomeness! Lots of Creepy merch. It's a haven for goths. Autumn and Halloween is my favorite time of year. Sinisterly, Kristi
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
Terrible experience! Drove from the West end of the Valley to get there after work. Online it said it closed at 7:30pm, we got there at 6:10pm (traffic). We walked in the store and the employees were all huddled around the register. No one even greeted us. After walking around for about five minutes an employee comes up and tells us they are closing in 10 minutes. I asked them what they were talking about because online it said 7:30 PM and they just ignored my question and walked away. Everything was OVERPRICED!! Way lower prices online everywhere (eBay, Amazon, Spirit). We walked out at 6:20pm and saw a new customer walk up to the entrance only to be denied entry. Worst customer service and experience ever!
google avatar

Meghan T.

Yelp
One of the coolest Halloween-themed stores I've ever stepped foot in. If not, THE coolest. Tons of unique decorations, collectibles, costumes, and soooo many horror tshirts! An entire wall! I have a Buffalo Bill T-shirt and a Carrie White T-shirt from this store...where else do you find shirts so specific?? It's a must before heading to Universal HHN. Great way to get in the spirit!
google avatar

Sarah E.

Yelp
This shops is one of my favorite places to be. I love that it's Halloween all year round. You never know what ghoul you'll find around the corner. Yes, this place is cheesy-it knows what it is and I love it for that. Halloween Town knows how to creep it real.

Amanda A.

Yelp
Had a great experience here ! They have so much memorabilia, Halloween decor, tshirts, etc. prices are a bit pricey but I feel it is worth it especially if you're a horror fan.
google avatar

Blankz S.

Yelp
Id give it 5 stars if theyd let me get pics inside lol. Other than that cool spooky store for the kids and family
google avatar

Brandon L.

Yelp
Love this place. They're open year round so you can get your Halloween and spooky fix any time you want, but obviously visiting in October is ideal. In addition to the usual Halloween decorations you might find at a pop up store, there's a huge assortment of pop culture goodies on sale, too. From horror classics, cult tv shows, to vintage collectibles, there's a lot to gawk at and you can easily spend an hour here (if not longer), depending on how thorough you want to be. And while the merch is fun to look, what really does it for me here is the layout and atmosphere. Suffice to say, it rules. A must visit if you're in the LA area and want something fun to do during the Halloween season.
google avatar

Shaylyn I.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out this place for a very long time and finally made the trip out to do so today. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews. But I am absolutely so happy I did. The atmosphere is amazing with way things are set up and it being darker in there. This is honestly how I wish all Halloween shops were set up. All of the employees were nice that I encountered and helpful. Some stuff was pricey but alot of stuff was priced pretty much the same at other places I've seen. Also there were some finds that I've never seen before. If you've been considering this place definitely check it out.
google avatar

Brandi P.

Yelp
Halloween all day, everyday? YES please!!! Halloween Town is an AMAZING store! One of three, one store contains adult costumes and accessories, one for kids, and another for everything you can imagine from patches and stickers to clothing and purses. Each store has something for everyone, an excellent variety of collectables and goodies, you truly can find something for gifting or even yourself. The staff is so nice and helpful too. They are there to help answer any questions or even help you find the perfect special gift. It doesn't have to be October in order to get ready for Halloween. These store are all within the same block and are a must visit if you are in the area. We drive up from San Diego a few times a year just so I can get my Halloween fix! So worth it!
google avatar

Colleen R.

Yelp
Halloween year- round? Awesome. A LOT of fun stuff on this street. This..a costume store, comic book and collector stores, weird little museums. Hell yeah! I was absolutely amazed. Only weed in the flower garden was Blvd Cafecito.
google avatar

Bren L.

Yelp
I'm going to review this place one more time and hope that whoever reported my comment is happy to see my face again. I love this store, I love t-shirts and recommend it to EVERYONE I know who is a horror/ Halloween enthusiast. As far as the pricing is concerned, these folks are a brick and mortar business and due that fact I understand that what I am about to purchase is going to cost more than what I could've found online. But then again, shipping would offset this cost and waiting 6-10 business days for shipping wouldn't be fun. I love that they're super sanitary during these times. I hope that the person(s) who do not like my comments, have a better day than to report my comments on this FRIENDLY and COURTEOUS establishment. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Taylor R.

Yelp
Great selection! Rude customer service! Also, a lot of the selections are above market value and extremely overpriced. Candles are really nice! From other reviews, they do seem a bit racist, but overall they're just very rude and unhelpful :((

Claire Drake D.

Yelp
Let's pretend there was a - in front of that one star. Worst customer service ever, their selections sucked, and the value of their clothes was cheap. The workers there all need to be fired. Please reevaluate your existence.

E K.

Yelp
Horribly expensive store w awful people working there. I tried to return something 3 minutes after I bought it because my daughter changed her mind and they wouldn't let me. They do not tell you all sales are final. Afterwards I found the same costume on Amazon for $21. It was $43 at this dump. Do NOT shop here.

Aaron G.

Yelp
Always love going to the stores there whether it's Halloween time or not. Lots of great costumes as well as decorations and collectibles. If you're a Halloween fan you have to try and visit there once
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
I really like visiting this place every so often. It's such a fun place with great displays and tons to buy. If you haven't been here you should definitely go.
google avatar

Ana B.

Yelp
Go to Spirit stores animatronics fun but, this store is way more fun to large amount collectables, costumes and decor. Costumes are in separate side business, under the same name and owner. Both are huge and has wonderful displays everywhere. Prices are a bit high, only con. Definitely a place to check out.
google avatar

Destiny J.

Yelp
I read the comments here about the Trump supporter owner stuff, which is off putting for sure. But aside from that, I personally did not experience any bad attitudes from staff when I walked in. But like others say they are picky about the phone photo policy, but I didn't walk around with my phone out, there are reminders within the shop though. The reason it's getting three stars from me though is because it doesn't have any home decor? And yes the stuff is pricer than normal. And nothing too special that you can't get at a party America/city or spirit halloween. I don't know who the buyer is for that store, but it would be totally cool if you added some home decor decorations or something :)
google avatar

Tiana B.

Yelp
This store has some cool stuff and I've enjoyed my experience when I've gone in person. That being said - their customer service when ordering online is awful. I ordered something earlier this month, was waiting around. It went past the shipping time listed on the website so I reached out for an update and turns out my item wasn't in stock. Not sure when I would've heard back if I didn't reach out and a bit annoyed because this was for a gift and I waited for nothing.
google avatar

Mary G.

Yelp
I love coming to this place. It's accessible and has always provided me with what I need.
google avatar

Tom H.

Yelp
A wide variety of merch and curios of the spooky variety. The prices were very fair as well. Many of the items were cheaper in store than I have found anywhere else including online. Hard to find and just plain cool stuff as well.
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite places in Burbank. but not anymore. I was a little frustrated with my shopping experience. As a safety measure, they were having us wear our masks of which I had no complaint. As we were roaming the store, one of the employees asked my husband to lift the mask over his nose. He obliged {even though he was irritated} and we continued shopping. After that brief encounter--the same employee proceeded to follow us around the store. Typically you can tell when someone is doing their job or following you, but clearly we were targeted from that brief encounter and followed around. At one point, she asked if we needed assistance and I said politely--no were fine. I should have asked her why she was feeling the need to follow us. I've never been harassed while shopping and this was a little ridiculous. We ended up spending over $300 in that shop and used to visit frequently. HalloweenTown has officially lost our business moving forward. Check out other small businesses online or shop somewhere else.
google avatar

Jazmine V.

Yelp
This place is the best if you don't love it something is seriously wrong with you! I would live here if I could and everyone is so so nice.
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
I like to support local and small businesses, but not when the local places rip you off so blatantly. Please note you'll be paying twice as much than the retail price for majority of items. This is why they don't want you taking pictures. Retailers would see their $12.99 toy being sold for $25, etc. I saw the Halloween 3 figures that you can buy for $55, being sold for $125?!? I think the prices are praying on the thirsty and desperate. You can do what I do, go and see the item you want in-person, then just buy it online. Which in most cases will still be less than what Halloween Town sells things for. The owner and manger are a bit sketchy too. Saw them in action the other day well checking stock, and the employees definitely seem anxious around them. I get the vibe the employees are the only ones that actually like Halloween.
