"Hal’s Bar & Grill, a Westside restaurant pillar for over three decades, inexplicably closed both locations this week. Hal’s was a key restaurant anchor on 1349 Abbott Kinney for 30 years until closing in April 2015. The owners debuted Hal’s 4,700-square-foot Playa Vista location in 2015, then in 2017 at the former Primitivo space in Venice. Hal’s quick departure is a bit of a shock, but another confirmation that LA’s restaurant game is truly challenging." - Mona Holmes

Pasta is great! The pasta is chewy. Thick and delicious cheese combined with a bit spicy make the taste rich.

+ Contemporary, but cozy atmosphere, + good wines and snacks, - staff has attitudes The Primitivo has everything a local eatery needs: a cozy atmosphere, good food (tapas) and even better drinks aka wine. Primitivo combines contemporary interior with predominating Spanish elements, and warm and dimmed light. Guests have the choice between being seated at the bar, in one of the two dinning rooms or outside on the patio. The wine selection is good and the food not bad either, though sometimes pricey. The Tapas are about $15 per plate, entrees $20. 5 oz wines range between $8-16. A great alternative for people on a budget is their happy hour from 5:30-6:30pm at the bar with sangria for $4 and appetizers for $6. Otherwise try their house wine, the Primitivo ($8), re-order their bread with the delicious olive paste and order the mussels in chorizo broth that come with fries ($14). This will fill you up. The service is average. I have to admit the attitude of the host and our first waitress was kind of annoying. + Nice setting and atmosphere + Good selection of wine and tapas - Pricey - Some staff is quite arrogant

Not bad , not bad at all! We came here on an early afternoon and had a delicious lunch. The location was gifted with surrounding fresh vegetable gardens. The prices of the food were fair. I ordered the lunch fixed menu for $17 ($16 if you check in on yelp) The fixed menu comes with your choice of cold tomato soup or salad. I picked the recommended soup and we finished that in a second! I got the vegetable pasta for the entree and it was full of flavor ..i saved some for dinner and it was still as yummy as it was for lunch! My favorite has always been dessert and the bread pudding with a shot of ice cream on top drizzled with caramel was SOOO good we licked the plate clean! my man ordered the steak and truffle fries, it came out a bit over cooked but was still pretty good.

This is the perfect place for a date or night out with the girls. This posh restaurant is made up of intimate tables for two surronded by a pair of tall stools, or round cozy booths where you can get comfortable. It was full of well-dressed young professionals sipping beers and martinis and sharing communal appetizers. I had a wonderful dinner with a good friend, though next time I plan to order something different. I stayed simple with their salmon dish with mashed potatoes and spinach- though it was tasty, it was overpriced for the measly piece of fish. However, my friend loved her combination of delectable tomato soup and a vibrant beet salad. Her dishes were reasonably priced (costing less than $20 for both generous sized dishes) and delicious down to the last bite.

This place is a winner by any measure. Its a hopping spot so if your looking for a quiet out of the way place you have ventured into the wrong place. but the Bartenders are excellent at helping to guide you through the wines as well as the menu choices. they have an outstanding cheese plate so please go.

On a sunny LA Day, which has been far too many to count, you really can’t beat patio seating and bottomless mimosas. Primitivo offered the best of both worlds! The outdoor patio in the back is truly a refreshing place to dine. My friend was quick to point out the lush horticulture that occupied the center of the covered patio area. If given the option I would certainly recommend the outdoor seating over the inside. I went on a Saturday for the bottomless mimosas which are served from 11:00am-3pm. Seems like a large window of time, but the ambiance will have the time fly by fast. We stayed well past the last call because we were so enthralled in our conversation. Great place to sip and enjoy the day which may lead into evening... I was ambivalent when it came to the food options, not because nothing seemed delicious, but because everything sparked my interest. I was torn between the Bread Pudding French Toast (Brioche, berry maple syrup, vanilla bean whipped cream) , the Spanish Paella(Organic Chicken, tiger shrimp, black mussels, chorizo, peas) and the Poached Egg and Avocado (Grilled focaccia, avocado spread, marinated cherry tomatoes). I ended up getting the Poached Egg and Avocado which was served with the yummy Patatas Bravas. It was certainly tasty for those who love poached egg. Above all else it was very filling. I literally scrapped my plate clean it was that damn tasty! I would also recommend both the BPFT and Spanish Paella. My friend got the BPFT and was in love and the Spanish Paella ignited the whole patio and a delicious aroma every time someone ordered it…..!!! Above all else and what really makes this a 5 star place is the customer service. The customer service here was superb! Our waitress was fantastic, ever-so-patient and very informative. She was also very accommodating with the menu, if there was something we didn't like about the dish she didn't hesitate to offer a substitution free of charge. Also when my friend didn't like her food she was nice enough to remove it from the bill no questions ask. Really amazing service where you can tell they care about their customers. We also were fortunate to meet the owner Jimmy who was super sweet. You could really tell he really took pride in his business. Overall great place for brunch! Bottomless mimosas ($15) – Check VIP Bike Parking in Front – Check Amazing Patio- Check Excellent Customer Service – Double Check

Came here with my girlfriend, had a pleasant time, it is the only restaurant that offers a burger on the strip (if I am wrong please correct me). The burger and fries were great. My girlfriend enjoyed how her food and drink was prepared.
