Beautiful property, great customer service, and delicious food! 4 stars because the wine in our tasting was not aired properly. I would assume it should have been. I kept having to twirl in my wine glass to open up. I also like how the lady gave two samples off the tasting menu because I bought those two exact bottles. It was the Malbec and Tannat!!! 🤩

My husband and I recently celebrated our 15-year anniversary with a weekend getaway to Fredericksburg, and Halter Ranch was the perfect first stop! This enchanting winery and restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way from the organic wines to the fantastic hospitality! From the moment we arrived, we were treated to exceptional service. Our server, Cathy, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. We opted for the Classic Red Flight, which was nothing short of amazing. Each wine was expertly crafted. To accompany our wine tasting, we ordered the braised axis shank and harvest salad, both of which were handmade with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The classic red flight paired perfectly with our choices. What truly sets Halter Ranch apart is its commitment to quality and sustainability. From the ancient coastal oak tables fallen from the property to the handmade dishes and fresh ingredients, every detail is carefully crafted. The property itself is peaceful and serene. There is lovely music playing in the background and birds chirping with joy. We were impressed to learn that Halter Ranch vets all wine tour companies to ensure the right fit, making this a truly special place to visit. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a unique wine country experience, Halter Ranch is an absolute must-visit. And the best part? Halter Ranch is family-friendly and dog-friendly, too! You can bring your furry friends along to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, making it a perfect spot for the whole family. Cathy was our expert server! She made the whole experience amazing! With over nine years of experience, we highly recommend her.

Another great visit to Halter Ranch. Some quick things to know: - The food is excellent - The Ancestor red wine is our fav - Service is great - Pricing is $$$ Having been here 3 times now and have enjoyed each visit. We have done the tastings twice now and know our favorite red is the Ancestor followed by the CDP. We LOVE their burger and get it each time. We order it medium rare and it's done perfectly. So juicy and tasty. We also love their salad and had r it this visit as well. As we find the wine to be expensive here, we've started to order a bottle vs 2 glasses. We have friends in California that are Halter Ranch wine club members and they told us about this location. Next time we visit them, we plan to stay in the Paso Robles area and visit and eat at the Halter Ranch mothership location :)

First time visit and would highly recommend! Cathy was absolutely amazing and even got us a table for dinner unexpectedly. Beautiful venue with amazing wine (especially the Malbec) and food. Live music is definitely a plus too.

Had a really great time for a girls trip. If they’re busy, they limit you to 1hr 15 min visit. The wines are great though and our server Cathy was very knowledgeable. We got the charcuterie board for $50, I don’t think this was worth $50 and wouldn’t get it again. The burger looks great though

This has quickly become one of my favorites in the Fredericksburg area. Beautiful, quiet dining room, excellent food, wonderful wines. Cathy is perfect with walking you through tastings. Must visit!

We came here a few weeks ago, called ahead and they said the tasting room was full but they had spaces outside with cover and fans, so we decided to go. My parents live near their other winery in Cali and wanted to check out the one here. When we got there, the venue is very nice the dining area seemed pretty full but the tasting room was nearly empty. They still sat us outside, which was fine because that’s what we were expecting. We got our tastings and the wine was decent, my wife was a little hungry so we ordered bread and oil, which was advertised as real Tuscan olive oil. We have just returned to the US from living overseas for about 4 years, and had spent the last two summer wine tasting in Italy. So we’ve experienced our fair share of real Tuscan olive oil. This might have been real Tuscan olive oil but it had either gone bad or something was done to it to make it taste absolutely inedible. We immediately informed the server, who took the plate away without so much as an apology. She came back a little while later just to tell us “the chef tasted it and it must be your palate.” We aren’t snobby people, we were not rude about not liking it, it was a genuine concern because it did not taste right. My wife, who is pregnant, thought maybe it was because of her changing taste but all of us confirmed there was something very wrong. We never once heard “I’m sorry” from any of the staff. They did reluctantly take it off our bill once they heard that my parents had been to/would be going to the original location in Cali. This was a very disappointing experience, and of all the wonderful wineries in the area we had not expected to be treated with such disregard.

We’ve visited Halter Ranch in Fredericksburg three times since May 2024, and each experience has been fantastic, largely thanks to Cathy, our wine expert. Cathy’s deep knowledge of the wines and passion for their organic cultivation make every visit special. As wine club members, we appreciate her personalized recommendations and insights. The food at Halter Ranch is equally impressive. The ambiance is inviting, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a cozy patio offering beautiful views of the Hill Country landscape. We have sat I rise w at the two top table, dining room and patio! Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or just looking for a great meal in a beautiful setting, Halter Ranch is a must-visit. We can’t wait for our next trip!
