Great variety of pastries! The strawberry cheesecake danish is 😩SOOO GOOD and filling but not so filling to the point where you can’t move afterwards 🤣. I wished the matcha latte was sweet, it was real earthy which is cool but I wish it was sweet. The green tea cornet is danky but same as the latte, just wish it was sweeter. The filling wasn’t that sweet BUT it was delicious regardless.

Google
Small bakery located inside Mitsuwa with a good selection of pastries, breads, and cakes. In the past, we have tried their red bean bun and chocolate croissant which were pretty good. My favorite so far has been their fruit tart. There is a generous amount of fresh fruit and the custard is light and not too sweet. The pastry shell itself is a bit on the thicker and more crumbly side but overall a very enjoyable dessert!

Google
love this bakery attached to Mitsuwa. Their chocolate muffins are worth a drive. Like their pastries, lighter and less sweet than western options. They have a good selection of drinks as well to go along with your pastries selection. I recommend a quick visit if you are at Mitsuwa.

Google
I usually dont leave reviews but half way through it I found an extraneous ingredient rubber band inside the wagyu curry donut.

Google
Small bakery inside mitsua market. They have lots of yummy choices but only ordered a fruit tart. It was delicious. Seems they only accept credit card.

Google
The Matcha Cake in a cup was inedible. They use a poor frosting on top. The matcha throughout is way too bitter. The only decent part was the single whipped cream layer. Also, the jelly was okay, but the whole thing overall was bitter and the frosting was baaad.

This bread shop is located in Mitsuwa. You can purchase not only bread but iced coffee. You can not use AMEX card credit card in this shop. Some breads such as cup cake and Shoku-pan (Squared bread) are able to buy at the Mitsuwa (It mean AMEX credit card is availabe).

Google
Great food and great prices for the quality, love every item thats why I always gor for the mystery bag. My wife loves the strawberry pastries. Wide variety, fresh, and consistent taste. Staff is awesime too.

Yelp
I really like this place. Another tasty shop in the market to pick up some goodies. They have an entrance directly from the outside as well. Small shop with lots of goodies. Plentiful parking in the free lot. They open early and it's pretty empty if you want something before work. Had to try the coffee jelly milk drink thing my first go. Was really tasty this time. Second time I went it was super sweet which was unexpected. I couldn't drink it. Inconsistent but delicious when not too sweet. Decent selection of sandwiches in their fridge which were good but, surprisingly, no fruit sandwiches! Lots of savory options tho. Service was ok. Which is ok.

Yelp
Review #908 2025-083 OTM Club 11/20/22 - 11/26/22 (sold out, missed OTM redemption) Food Order: Melon Pan & Raisin Danish I originally came to Hamada Ya Bakery to redeem a comped Cream Puff via OTM Club, but it was late in the day, about an hour before closing so they were sold out & other baked goodies were limited. Since it's not technically an "off the menu" item, I was hoping the bakery would be flexible to substitute the cream puff with something of similar pricing -- nope. According to other reviewers, they often sell out by the afternoon so you need to stop by in the morning to get first pick. I was here with my LO so couldn't leave empty handed & perused the shelves for anything interesting. Just to be on the safe side, we picked a raisin danish (can't go wrong with that) & melon pan. Not sure if it's late in the day or what, but both were pretty stale tasting... I spritz both with a little water & dropped them in the convection oven, which help restore some of the danish's flaky exterior while warming the interior, the melon pan's crust was toasted & sort of melted, but made the interior fluffier & warm. The raisin danish was ok flavor-wise, while the melon pan lacked flavor (too mild; crust lacked sweetness). Hamada Ya Bakery is located in Mitsuwa Marketplace at Del Amo Fashion Center, just off to the right upon entry. While there's plenty of parking available, the spaces near the bakery/market are often full. The bakery is really small, & cannot accommodate 2 people in the cramped aisles. Moderate to slightly high price points for a Japanese bakery. I typically visit other Japanese bakeries in the South Bay, but if I happen to dine at the market's food court or shop in the market, I will browse the bakery for goodies. I'm hoping to try their popular pudding that I keep missing because I'm often here late in the day.

Yelp
After going to Japan earlier this year, I found myself missing all of the food, but especially the bakeries. Hamada Ya to the rescue - they're located in the front of Mitsuwa Market place in a separate little storefront. They have amazing authentic pastries, desserts and bread. I've tried the melon pan, curry buns, raisin rolls, wheat bread, strawberry shortcake cup, egg sandos, and the cheesecake. All were super fresh and delicious, the curry buns taste better if you throw them in the air fryer for a bit when you get home. The baked goods aren't too sweet, which I prefer. Prices are reasonable given the high quality. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is my first time and it won't be my last. We tried a few items. The blueberry cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake danish and cheesecake in a cup. The location was small but there was outside seating. The staff was polite and efficient. There was a short line and the breads seem to be very popular. Definitely adding this to my favorites list.

Yelp
Got a loaf from mitsuwa on san gabriel over the weekend. $5.75 for the large white. It's so yummy. I don't think I can go back to commercial loaf or any other bakery's white loaf!! Gotta make time to visit the original café next time! They're a bit of a drive for me.

Yelp
This was such a cool spot to check out. I saw in Japan they have coffee jelly and i wanted to try. I was kind of disappointed with this one though. It was sweet milk with large pieces of the coffee jelly and i felt the ratio was off. I spent more time chewing than i did drinking. I would have preferred a latte base and then some occasional jellies. I also had a ham and cheese bun that was so moist and flavorful-- delicious. I must come back to this mall to explore more neighboring businesses in the marketplace.

Yelp
I loved their spicy curry corroquette/donut for breakfast. It's a little expensive for a bakery though, like $6 per corroquette. But prices have gone up everywhere. I got 2 and got a free coffee, which was their promo 7-9 am. It was totally delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft and yummy on the inside.

Yelp
This is a great little bakery! I guess you could say they're "inside" of Mitsuwa, but they have their own entrance and hours (we came in the morning before Mitsuwa was open). The curry pan (or what they call curry "donut") was delicious, just be warned that it can be a little greasy - it is deep fried, after all. They also had a wide variety of sweet pastries as well as some delicious-looking sandwiches - but my stomach can only handle so much pastry in one visit!
google avatar

Yelp
We will be coming back to try more croissants. My favorite pastry store closed and I was searching for a good croissant shop. I think I may have found it.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
TL;DR This bakery is so cozy and the pastries are delicious! It's very clean inside and it has beautiful/elegant decorations. The pastries are generally very good and fresh, I also love the drinks. I would definitely prefer over a place like 85C. The staff is very kind and patient, eager to help.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been back here during the mornings recently and this place has gotten much better. It's clear the breads and rolls are cooked in the back and there's some fun pastry creations like wagyu curry. It's very small, but there's lots of choices in the morning.

Yelp
Within the Mitsuwa in Torrance, you'll find the Hamada ya Bakery. You can go in just for the bakery by what not make the most of the trip and buy some groceries while you're there, too!? It's inside one of my favorite Mitsuwas I've ever been to. I've had a couple of baked goods from their selections and loved them! The chocolate chip cookie is delish. And the chocolate chip croissant? Ummm, even better than the cookie. Trust! Great selection, great prices and everything I've had is tasty. Next time, I'm going to be Mission: Sando and try some of their sandwiches. Nomz.

Yelp
Japan is one of my all time travel destinations. Aside from Hello Kitty (hehe); they have such amazing food there. I definitely plan to visit Japan again sometime in the future but for now if I want some amazing Japanese treats; then I have to look no further than Hamada ya Bakery. Hamada ya Bakery offers some delicious pastries, snacks and drinks. I love that they offer traditional Japanese sandos here! They their own freshly baked milk bread and fill it with pork cutlet and egg. It truly reminds me of Japan. From their pastries; I enjoy their cream corners and their cream puffs. They're not too sweet and quite light. It makes for a perfect dessert or snack. Thank you to Hamada ya for offering some awesome Japanese snack/sweets right here in Torrance!

Yelp
My personal must each time I go to Mitsuwa and they have one of these. I'm a big fan of the coffee jelly milk. It's a simple sweet dessert like drink and great for a pick me up. The bakery had a good amount of baked goods, sweets, and cakes still available in the middle of Sunday. They also had some seasonal pumpkin spice items too. A small line was forming after I got my coffee jelly milk, but the workers are pretty efficient and the line seemed like it moved quickly. Solid Japanese bakery with lots of drink options too.

Yelp
This is a Japanese bakery inside the Mitsuwa market in Torrance at the Del Amo mall. Their sliced bread is pillow soft! The best with just plain jam. Also, I loved the Coffee jelly milk for only $4.25. Get your grocery shopping as well as a quick meal in the food court! Great place for families and friends to hang out.

Yelp
I generally don't get bread at Hamada ya Bakery, as I typically prefer to get bread from Chinese and Taiwanese bakeries. However, after dinner, my wife was craving matcha dessert. The matcha place we were planning to go to was closed. We looked around the Mitsuwa food court, and saw that Hamada ya had several different parfaits. Naturally, we ended up choosing the matcha parfait. The matcha parfait was absolutely amazing. A lot of boba places serve sugary drinks that are green, with very little matcha flavor. However, the Hamada ya matcha parfait was very heavy on the matcha flavor. The bitterness from the matcha powder helped balance out the sweetness of the whipped cream, the matcha jellies, and the sponge. Some people don't like the bitterness of matcha, but that's exactly what I am looking for when getting it as a flavor on my desserts. While I cannot say much about the pastries at Hamada ya, I can say for sure, the matcha parfait was amazing.

Rich T.

Yelp
This was not a good experience. It's very sweet and there wasn't much milk tea due to the amount of ice they include in the cup. The only good thing is the boba wasn't bad. They charge $3 for no ice!! I would not recommend this place for milk tea.
google avatar

Maruko X.

Yelp
The bakery shop is located near the entrance of grocery store, they ran out stuff quickly in the afternoon, usually you'll find overpriced cake and pastry, though the Coffee Jelly Milk drink was great.
google avatar

Noba N.

Yelp
Honestly you can't go wrong with any of their breads but my personal highlight from hamadaya are their cakes in a cup. It is HUGE! I am especially in love with their tiramisu as they have coffee jelly in their layers!! It is so creative! They do the same for their matcha in a cup so if you are a matcha lover this will be amazing too! Their strawberry shortcake honestly is a generic cake so nothing special about it but the presentation is still beautiful and delicious! Mangoes are their new add ins and now my second favorite! The mango was fresh and such a great harmony with the cream! Great bday cake gifting!
google avatar

Winnie K.

Yelp
Hamada ya Bakery is at the Del Amo mall, next to Mitsuwa. There's plenty of parking dedicated to Mitsuwa and the food court. This location has more bread and pastry options than the West LA spot. For the food: Hamada ya is one of my favorite places to get iced matcha latte. Good matcha flavor and just the right sweetness. The curry chicken salad sandwich is tasty and easily split with 2 people. The sandwich is huge. The curry flavor really comes through and the veggies are fresh. I'd try the steamed buns next time.
google avatar

Yelp
As my profile says, carbs are life. I love trying out new bakeries, so I had to stop by and get something here. I decided to go for their melon bread because all their other bread selections at the time didn't seem to big. The melon bread to me was very mid. The bread wasn't as soft as other places I've been to and the whole thing just didn't seem as enjoyable as I'd hope for. Maybe I just tried the wrong item, but I don't see myself coming back here, especially since it was a struggle for me to come to this area. The bakery itself is pretty small since it is located inside the Mitsuwa as I feel like two people can't be walking side by side, so just be warned that you may have to be patient if other people are in there too.

Yelp
We come to Kinokuniya quite often, but have never tried this bakery. The customer service from the staff was great, we were serviced very yummy food and overall this corner has a nice & clean atmosphere. When we return, we'll pick up another yummy snack from this shop :))

Daniel C.

Yelp
Great service and very friendly and the bread here is amazing definitely will come back for some coffee and bread on my lunch

Yelp
There's Always breads to look at. There's an open red ridge red section with parfaits and sandwiches. I'll have to try the parfait one day. They're so cute but also giant. I've had the egg salad sandwich there and I like it. There's cold creamy pastries behind the counter but I've never had them. Only the egg pudding/custard which is good. The have hot steamed buns in regular pork, pizza, and curry's the regular one is good. Still gotta try the others. Lastly they have a lot of drinks hut I've only had the coffee jelly milk. It for sure has the coffee factor. I didn't want too much caffeine before a movie. Just needed enough to stay away during the movie but not too much where I couldn't get to sleep when I got home and this hit the spot. The employees are good at keeping the checkout line moving. If someone's paying, another reserved will go down the rest of the link asking if people want any drinks or anything behind the counter. They're great. Come by and see what the store has to offer.

Yelp
Love this bakery! Located inside Mitsuwa near Del Amo they have such yummy goodies! I'm a huge fan of their cakes! Over the holidays I had their seasonal apple cake which had a nice fluffy cake layer with cream, apples, and a sort of creme brulee cream top. This cake was so yummy I placed a pre-order for a whole cake (around $40) for my grandpa's 80th birthday.
google avatar

Abbie N.

Yelp
I came here for a mango cake cup and got an almond croissant to go. The mango cup was soo good, fresh whipped cream with perfectly ripe mango and sponge cake. I would love to try the strawberry next and matcha.

Meliza P.

Yelp
Food is good. Service is decent. Depends on who is actually working at the time you visit... there's a girl who's willing to help you and actually SELL and then there's a guy there who doesn't seem to enjoy talking and will not go out of his way to have a bread sliced for you without you kindly pushing him to do so letting him know that the people at the back don't mind doing it . He pleasant.. just not as seemingly helpful as the lady I met the first time. Place is clean. Their bread is so good that the chances of the breads being sold-out for the days by noon is almost 100% so make sure you do buy your breads early. As for price, it's mid range. They can come across as pricey for a single bag of Bologna bread. It's super good though! So I believe it's worth.
google avatar

Emma C.

Yelp
This is one of the most underrated places I've been to. Asian bakeries generally are always really good about making really light desserts that aren't overly sweet. However, this bakery in particular surpassed those standards - their strawberry cake in a cup is the perfect balance between the fresh strawberries, a sweet jelly, moist cake and a light whipped cream. But their pudding is hands down one of the best things I've had for such a great price. It's perfectly smooth and just the right amount of sweetness.
google avatar

Erica J.

Yelp
Got the boba milk tea. It was the worst milk tea I've ever had. Didn't taste any tea and it was mostly milk. Super tasteless. Everything looked great but hard pass on milk tea if you want to get it. Super disappointed. :(
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
This bakery is located inside the Mitsuwa at Del Amo. Many Mitsuwa locations also have this bakery located inside, and I always must stop by to get my favorite bread- the boloniya bread! It is the perfect buttery croissant-like bread! I usually get the small loaf only to prevent myself from being a gluttonous pig and being tempted to eat it all in one sitting. I like this bakery location the most so far because it seems to be much more spacious and offers more options, like desserts, hot buns and drinks, than other Hamada-ya locations I've been to. The strawberry shortcake in a cup in the grab & go section is a delicious dessert to have after some yummy ramen at the food court. It has fresh strawberries and is not too sweet- which is the best compliment you can give Asian desserts lol.
google avatar

Maria F.

Yelp
Cake in a cup. Coffee jelly. All good in the world. It's a nice snack to get during your shopping spree at the mall!
google avatar

Jax L.

Yelp
The filling of their Wagyu curry donut is yummy, but the outside dough is unnecessary greasy. We love their Melon Matcha Pan. Half of the outside is dipped in white chocolate matcha, but it's not too sweet. Their matcha filling is thick and cream is heavily infused with tea. Their matcha tiramisu cups are yummy, but you must eat them ASAP because they get soggy in a bad way on the trip home. I like that they offer different items than the Hamadaya in Costa Mesa. It makes the trek out here worth it. Service is fast. The place is small and packed. There no time to really debate what you want. You must order quickly and edit because the next guest is breathing on you.

Christanne C.

Yelp
Went to the mall to just walk around and window shop with my coworker. She really wanted some bread, so we stopped by here since we've been there before. When we went inside, there was nobody else but us and the cashier. Quick and easy, but more people got in line after us. I got the cream pan and croissant bun type of thing. The cream pan was good. Not amazing or anything. Bread was nice and soft. Bread was mainly hollow inside, and cream wasn't creamy and didn't have a thick layer. Just enough to wet your whistle. I thought it was the perfect sweetness (or lack of sweetness). 3.75/5 The croissant bun was really tasty. I warmed it up at home, and it was even better. Flaky like a croissant but the flakes weren't horizontal. They were vertical and went in a circle. I'd definitely get this again but warm it up or put it in the air fryer for a crispy texture. 4.25/5 I'd recommend. She got a lot more stuff to take home
google avatar

Yelp
This review isn't conclusive since this shop offers so much and I can only try a few items every time I go. Honestly didn't notice this shop much the few times I've been to this Mitsuwa but this little shop was so packed on a Sunday and I was intrigued. There's really something for everyone, cream desserts for the sweet tooth, curry pan for the savory peeps, and good ol' quality toast for the grandmas/grandpas in all of us. Wish the shop was a bit bigger so it would be easier to navigate when there's a lot of people. Tried the kouign amann the first time I went and it was pretty good, should've toasted it first but still perfect with a cup of tea. Can't wait for my next visit!
google avatar

Mayra F.

Yelp
I love this place! Everything I've tried here is so tasty and fresh. The steamed pork bun is my favorite.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
This is my final stop in the Mitsuwa marketplace I just had a try their pastries. I ordered the strawberry danish and they're famous pudding unfortunately for me they weren't hitting the spot. The strawberry danish flavor wise I thought was pretty good but the downfall of this pastry is that danish wasn't fresh. They keep the Danish any refrigerated area which for me affects it. I think in the Danish would be fresh flaky and fluffy the danish would've almost been perfect but unfortunately it wasn't. But aside from that the flavors were pretty good and the strawberries were fresh. No the famous pretty for me just didn't cut it. I don't know if it was just a bad day but for me the pudding had zero flavor. The presentation looks pretty good but unfortunately the flavor just wasn't there.
google avatar

Lindsey D.

Yelp
Picked up a quick snack at the bakery while I was at the mall. I chose their steamed curry bun. The meat was flavorful and paired well with the soft steamed bun.
google avatar

Joan W.

Yelp
Their pastries and breads here are very consistent. Was excited to try the new milk tea and matcha tiramisu in a cup. The milk tea is made with a mix of fresh whole milk and evaporated milk. Perfect to me since I prefer fresh milk to creamer. But the tea flavor wasn't very assertive and tasted like some coffee grounds were still stuck in the brewer that was used to make the tea. Otherwise just enough sweetness to cover the tea's astringency. The matcha tiramisu was a generous portion and beautifully presented, can't wait to try it.

Ismael L.

Yelp
Great customer service. Nancy was really patient with me considering i'm very indecisive. She actually recommended their cheesecake and mango smoothie which were both really good! Recommend both the food and customer service !
google avatar

Angela H.

Yelp
I really like this lil bakery for their cakes in a cup. I chose tiramisu and it was delicious. I especially love the coffee jelly that's in it. It's not sweet and it gives it a nice textural contrast to the cake and cream. These are my fave items from this bakery.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
The Brown-sugar boba is decent...although the boba itself could use some sweetness. We also tried the Pork buns (which for Filipinos is basically siopao) which were tasty (but not the best I've had). The Youngest wanted to try the "curry donut" which was a croissant -type bread filled with curry flavored insides--pretty much what he expected. They will warm it up for you upon request. The servers are friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Ryna D.

Yelp
Solid Japanese bakery. I usually come in and get a few things - whatever looks good that day - anytime I'm shopping at Mitsuwa. The savory curry buns are a particular favorite.
google avatar

M H.

Yelp
Cake was smashed because of the small container they used...This was supposed to be a gift. The young boy working there definitely needs to be trained.
google avatar

Sakiko E.

Yelp
Japanese bakery located inside Mitsuwa building. You can either purchase items inside this bakery area or check out with the rest of groceries inside Mitsuwa. Note they don't accept Amex at Hamadaya. They were still setting items up at the time we went there in the afternoon but their curry donut and chocolate melon pan were delicious! We also got thinly sliced sandwich bread. It is a bit pricier than regular American sandwich bread but I'm hoping it tastes good... The drink menu looked tempting especially in the heatwave but it will have to wait for the next time. If you are there, check out their coffee jelly drink! Parking is easy as there are plenty in front of Mitsuwa. There are more as it is near Del Amo mall.

Andrea A.

Yelp
Great breads and pastries varities. Good food quality. Friendly service. Nice outdoor dining set up to have coffee or breakfast.
google avatar

Airi G.

Yelp
I saw on Saturday that this place was super busy so I thought I'd step inside and see what they offered. They had typical Japanese bakery goodies such as melon pan, curry pan, strawberry croissant and more. I walked up to the register with a cream pan in hand but I immediately put it back when I saw the cream cornet. It satisfied my sweets craving perfectly and it was stuffed full with cream. The pastry was still flaky and I loved that it was served cold. I will definitely come back to try out the other ones!
google avatar

Janet M.

Yelp
the most terrible mango I have ever had. It has a texture like ginger, and it's flavorless. It doesn't taste like mango at all! I can't believe I paid 7+$ for this crap.
google avatar

Yelp
I made a trip back recently to Mitsuwa to grab some things from this bakery. This time I ordered a bag of white bread, a wagyu curry donut, a strawberry croissant, and a Boston cream donut. I love using their white bread to make homemade tamago sando. I'm glad that they brought back the panko crumbs or whatever bread crumbs they use for their wagyu curry donut because I really didn't like the cornflakes from last time. Their Boston Cream donut is still consistent and delicious, and their strawberry croissant was light and not too sweet. Can't wait to grab my favorite items (or even new ones) next time!
