The Best Restaurants In Oxford - Oxford - The Infatuation

"If you see a queue of people just off Magdalen Road on a Saturday morning, it’s safe to presume they’re waiting for a sourdough loaf from Hamblin. This neighbourhood bakery favourite is absolutely rammed on weekends, so much so that regulars know to pre-order their seeded rye and country loaves before turning up. The staff greet people in line by their name and everyone behind you has their ears perked up while you’re ordering, with their fingers crossed in hopes you won’t take the last vanilla bun. Don’t, instead get the cinnamon bun, a pizza slice, and of course, some springy, crispy-crusted sourdough. There’s also pevensey blue cheese and various salamis and fresh vegetables, so you can pick up everything you’ll need for a wholesome picnic." - rianne shlebak

This is my favourite bakery in Oxford! The people working here are such angels. The man who helped me in particular was very kind and accommodating, allowing me to go through the whole peach basket before I made my decision. He also made sure I got the salami I wanted (I think there was a brief mix-up on the computer system so it was pre-booked). We got the sourdough loaf, spiced salami, and the peaches this time around. It made for perfect avocado toast and spinach+cottage cheese+peace+balsamic vinegar salad. See picture for the picnic where we ate the food!

Many bakeries try to make a million things and you end up with a handful of good ones. This one makes a handful of things, and they're all AMAZING! Godly cinnamon buns and chocolate chip cookies as well as amazing sourdough buns, well worth the long walk from the main town!

Wow. Just WOW! Got to sample a few of their seasonal Christmas bakes, and everything was incredible. The Stollen Bun is probably the best I ever had. It's a good thing they don't do full loafs... I would not be able to portion control! The Saffron and Almond take on the morning bun is exceptionally flavourful as well. Also tried a sandwich at the snack bar in the Covered Market and that was pretty good as well. I had a bit of an issue with my online order, and I think the website needs to be sorted out. That aside, this might be one of my favorite bakeries in all of the UK.

OMG. The most amazing cinnamon scroll I’ve ever had , the most beautiful treats, gorgeous bread and pizza slices. Such friendly staff. I can’t wait to go back tomorrow morning for the best scroll & plum and apple tart. Absolute heaven.

Delicious sourdough loaves, cheese scones and cardomun buns. We absolutely loved it here. You can’t sit in - takeaway only - and they don’t have coffee or pastries.

The pizza here is top notch! So many vegetarian options to choose from! Really loved the Parmesan spinach pizza for breakfast on a Sunday morning 😄 There’s usually a queue outside Hamblin because it’s so popular. Have heard people say they come from really far places to get a taste of Hamblin’s fresh bread. Suggest you book online before you visit. Also their cinnamon buns and chocolate cookies are yummy! 🤤

Great little bakery with restaurant quality bread baked on site. Also have a range of fresh cookies, buns, pastries and sometimes sandwiches. The pizzas on Saturday are fantastic. They also do some interesting pop up nights for tasting menus and bread making classes.
