Sun Valley’s counter spot slings Mexican-style burgers stacked with ham, bacon-wrapped hot dogs, avocado, and more. Included in Westword’s 2024 burger guide, it’s a joyful, maximalist expression of Denver’s cross-cultural scene.

Google
A pleasant surprise. The food is good. Service was quick. I ordered a burger. It was a little heavy on the condiments such as catsup and a thousand island type dressing, so be sure to tell them to go easy or leave them off unless you really like both. Otherwise, it was a good experience, and I can recommend it for the burger lover

Google
I love this place! I come here often and it never disappoints. Burgers are juicy, flavorful, and packed with a delicious Mexican twist that makes them stand out from any other burger joint. Staff is super friendly and they always make me feel welcome and the service is quick too!

Google
I have come here a couple of times and every time the food is decent. I am not disappointed. I would recommend coming here and trying out. The tortas are amazing. I wont say they are not the best but I would say they are in the top ten for sure. Its one of the those small restaurants that nobody knows about but when you fine it your glad you did. As you can see by all the reviews they have they have so much to choose from. This place is a must try! I will be coming back here to eat again next time I am in the neighborhood. Remember they get busy around lunch time during the week so try to visit just outside of those hours so you can get food fast.

Melissa Ponce

Google
The food was delicious and I LOVED thay they have a veggie burger. The burger buns were good too because you could tell that they're from a bakery, not store bought. They have Mexican music playing in the background, which I loved. They also got outdoor seating. I'm definitely coming back here.

John Adams

Google
This place is as advertised. Huge burgers served quickly. Maybe ten minutes, maybe less. I would go back. The taste was good. I ordered the Exotica. It was huge! Fries were good. I liked that each table has a roll of towels on it. You're going to need them. Food and service were a solid 4. The crew is friendly but not overly. The atmosphere is just there. It's a space to eat but functional. Plan on cutting the burger in two and eating the other half later.

Google
I've never seen that many hamburger choices. I got the Don Jesus and it was pretty darn good. Plenty of indoor seating that was clean, and some outdoor seating with fast service. If you like burgers this is probably your spot!

Google
What a great twist to a classic meal! Hamburguesas Don Jesús offers a large and creative menu. Some of these names and combos for burgers are downright hilarious. There are so many different options to choose from. I decided to try the Tejana burger topped with ham, bacon wrapped hot dog, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, and a jalapeño on the side it also came with a side of fries. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. Huge portions, too. Great bang for your buck! I was highly impressed with Burger Place. I can't wait to try more of these funny and imaginative burgers.

Shane Reynolds

Google
They have the best Torta EVER. My coworker's and I go here every month for the Torta. It's huge. The average person can't eat the whole thing.

Charles G.

Yelp
Easily the best hamburger in town!! Price is right for the size! Multiple options! The bacon rapped hotdogs are awesome also!
google avatar

Richard G.

Yelp
Really was expecting something special but I have to say this cheeseburger was nothing special. Big bun but not much meat flavor. Huge menu so maybe I need to try something else next time.

Yelp
Don Jesus's burgers are sumpin' else. Nothing about them will remind you of Mickey D's or the like. Don Jesus operates his original place at 8th and Decatur and also another one up in Arvada (which I haven't been to). The place in Denver is just like a slice of Mexico brought north. Lovely people, family atmosphere, and healthy-sized portions at reasonable prices makes this place deservingly popular. Not fancy or pretentious at all. Don Jesus gives you excellent value for your money. A cheeseburger and fries was as much or more than I could eat for lunch. Served with a couple of pickled jalapenos the bill was $12. These days, that's a steal of a deal. So head on over when you're in the neighborhood. And if you've got a half dozen friends with you order Denver's largest hamburger to share. Have only seen videos of it but I'm dreaming about a true men's night out where we'll take one down, chased by any one of the fine Mexican beers they serve. Andale! David "Burger Boy" M

Yelp
Great sandwich options and the fact that this is all they focus on is even better. It's pretty much a self service place you place your order and get your food yourself. The fries are crunchy and delicious. The burgers are on point they even have options for vegans as well. The place is very low key but well worth it

Marcus H.

Yelp
Great burger. I went with the Apache and it delivered. My wife got a hot dog and really liked it as well.
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
The service was great The bun is the 'meat' of your burger. I ordered the Aloha Burger (not sure if that's what it is called) my patty was so thin you could barely see it. The toppings were plentiful which is honestly helped give sustenance to the burger. The burger also had a different taste to it- was not a pleasant one for me. The ratio of bread to burger is off. The fries were a saving grace for me.
google avatar

Obed S.

Yelp
Great hot dogs. Good price. The hot dogs are absolutely loaded with toppings. Saw some people order burgers that were huge
google avatar

Diana V.

Yelp
First time here. Plenty of seating. Large menu. Hamburgers, fish sandwich, hot dogs, ham and cheese sandwiches in three sizes. Believe me the small and regular are plenty. Condiments includes lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, jalapeños and ham. So good.
google avatar

Ted C.

Yelp
The food was hot and ample! The burger meat was a little thin in the cheeseburger, but it was accompanied by the lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, mayo, and more! We got the regular sized burger, but we should've split one order because it was Huuuuge! And a truckload of fries too! Not the most inviting of dining halls, but some of the best food comes from dives!

Michael V.

Yelp
You will not regret eating here. The burgers are like nothing you have tried before. You will not regret eating here. The burgers are like nothing you have tried before.

Damaris G.

Yelp
Best burgers and hotdogs! The service was quick and the place was perfect. I will definitely be going back again!
google avatar

Yelp
The family friendly environment is welcoming. The usual chatter and noises you hear in a restaurant seem to be missing....because everyone is CHOWIN' down or waiting in eager anticipation for their meal. The booth we sat in was cozy and equip with more ketchup than I could ever need and a paper towel roll. The stage was set for some A list burgers, when the number was called the baskets were served! Hot, crispy, NON greasy papas :) alongside a decked out sauced up Pattie. The pickled jalapeño was so delicious with the burger I could have eaten three more of them with it.
google avatar

Joanna D.

Yelp
The absolute BEST burgers in Denver!! Every bite was so delicious and they now serve beer I come here every single time I'm in Denver Bacon Wrapped Weenie- so yummy!
google avatar

Rico B.

Yelp
I'll put it like this, this place will turn vegans into carnivores. Best burger I've ever had in my life. And mind you for half of that I didn't eat meat. This place is the truth.
google avatar

Jacinth S.

Yelp
Really good burgers and drinks! Just stopped there for a quick bite and I did enjoy the food so much. It has good patty, well-cooked and seasoned. It was thick just the way I want it. Must try and you won't be disappointed so many great choices. Will stopped there again.
google avatar

Evan M.

Yelp
If you are craving a Mexican style burger, it's hard to beat this place. The portions are a great value regardless of the size you choose. Service is usually pretty good and the ambiance is, meh, but once you take your first bite you will stop caring.

Mathew K.

Yelp
Best burgers in the city, maybe the country. Queso piña for the win. Prices are good and fries are included. Fast service and super nice people
google avatar

Gabriela J.

Yelp
The burgers are huge and they do not skimp on toppings or fillings: inside has an old school diner feel mixed w the ambiance of a local taqueria. Been coming here for 5 years and there's always something new to try.
google avatar

Yelp
Don Jesus never fails to impress! My girlfriend and I have been to this location multiple times, and we have tried several different types of hamburgers. They are all delicious, fresh, and a great value. Don Jesus boasts bold flavor combinations and great quality ingredients. Have you ever had a hamburger with strawberries on it? Well I sure have now, and it was delicious. Every burger is enormous. Roughly six inches in diameter, you will be taken on a flavor journey far greater than the sum of its parts. Come hungry, come often, and you'll never be disappointed. Thank you Don Jesus!

Anthony E.

Yelp
The food and staff are absolutely amazing! Parking is light. Seating is decent. The price is reasonable and the portions are epic! The food tastes amazing, definitely a fork and knife burger. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I'd heard rave reviews about this Latino burger joint - and was in the neighborhood at supper time & stopped in. The fellow at the counter was very helpful, told him my first time, he showed me the wall where they have all 800 million burger varieties listed, with the ingredients coming in each. Very helpful and easy to see what they have. The hard part is deciding which one to get... I ordered. Within 4-5 minutes here comes the burger basket. They have Big, Bigger, and Biggest sizes of burgers, I got the Bigger. The burger comes as described, along with piping hot French fries. They probably drop fries when they begin to make your burger. When burger has been constructed, the fries are done and fresh and ready for the basket. This place lives up to all I had heard about it. It flies under the radar of any of the burger places you've heard of in Den area, but do yourself a favor and come try it. On 8th Ave, west of 25. It's a little dicey but who cares, the burgers and fries are what it's all about.

Yelp
You will not go home hungry I got the Nortena and could not finish at all They are very friendly and you can either eat there or take it home. Very clean restaurant.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I got a broken up, dried up, partial burger in my sandwich. See photo. Very much NOT worth the twelve bucks I paid for it. I would have done better in the McDonald's Dollar Menu.

Yelp
Disclaimer: If you are expecting your usual burger joint, don't! It does fulfill the burger expectation, but it doesn't feel or taste like a regular burger. Hamburguesas Don Jesús brought me back to the my Cali days. Specifically my days in Pacoima. It brought the usual Hispanic atmosphere I was accustomed to in life. Mexican rap and traditional Hispanic music gave the atmosphere an upbeat feel as it blasted from the kitchen. The menu was on the wall, which is something my wife was not accustomed to. My wife ordered the cheeseburger. My friend ordered the torta burger and I ordered the Exotic Burger. Now onto the food!! The cheeseburger did not taste like a traditional burger. The mozzarella cheese they add gives it a unique taste. When this is accompanied with the thinner ketchup and bolillo type bread, we are looking at an amazing bite. My wife personally was not a complete fan of the thinner ketchup, but the mozzarella cheese was a nice curveball to the usual burger! The torta burger was HUMONGOUS. Very well prepared and the meat was cooked to perfection. The bun had an amazing crunch and with the juices dripping, we were looking at a fantastic non traditional burger. The jalapeño gave it a proper kick of spicy, but not too spicy! My friend and I definitely loved this burger! The star of this review is hands down the Exotica Burger. We were looking at a burger that had a ridiculous amount of meat and a ridiculous amount of toppings. The burger was huge even when I had removed about 3 toppings from the burger! Once I took my first bite, I immediately knew this was my favorite. The juices poured out of my mouth and my burger as I took my first bite. The toasted bun held it well as the juices soaked further into it. The sausage they add to the Exotica pairs well with the ham they add to their burgers. I could actually taste the ham, sausage and burger meat all at the same time with each bite. This is a must get and well worth its price! Now what review would this be without mentioning the fries? The fries were your typical fries, but when paired with your burger it added an additional amazing lingering taste. Basic but perfect as to not take away from the uniqueness of the burger accompanying it. Overall, Hamburguesa Don Jesus is a stand out burger joint. It infused your burger craving while also giving you a taste of the Hispanic culture. If anyone wants to try something new, please give this a place a go!

Yelp
This is one amazing hamburger joint! The first time I was in Denver, we found it more or less by accident. When we came back to town a year later, it was on my definitely have to go to list. It is advertised as Mexican Style Hamburgers, which seems to mean great big hamburgers loaded down with a wide variety of tasty toppings. These vary from the mild, such as avocado and grilled pineapple, to the wild which include fried bologna and bacon wrapped wieners. There are few other choices, such as hot dogs, and chicken nuggets for the kids. However, the main course is the magnificent burgers and fries. The fries are indeed good, very hot and fresh. This place isn't that impressive to look at from the outside. Just a small square singe story orange and white building in a commercial area. Inside there are old-style red vinyl booths, and simple tables. Then there is the menu wall, which offers the various choices, each of which pictures the finished product. They can certainly customize any of the burger combinations, in case you don't like onions for example. There also are bun-free options for those who want them. After browsing the wall, go grab a drink out of the coolers (the selection includes Mexican Cokes and other soft drinks). Then order at the counter, pay, and wait for your number to be called. Then eat a magnificent meal!

Yelp
This place was great. We had a burger with avocado, ham, onion, tomato, mayo and more. The buns are amazing and the fries were great too. Looking at others food, i dont think you could go wrong. We paid $14 each and it felt like a great value! I would of never stopped, if we would of not been in the area getting some work done. Now i will probably drive across town for it! Great job.
google avatar

Yelp
Eat here! I drive past this place 10 times a week and finally decided to stop in today. I ordered the Torta Burger and it was amazing but the FRIES! The fries were some of the best I've had anywhere! I don't know what kind of brujería they are working on those fries but they need to keep it up. I will be seeing a lot more of this place in the future and you should too!!!
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
I have driven passed this place dozens of times, and never know it was there! This is a hidden gem! If you like burgers, this place is for you. I don't know who this Don Jesus guy is, but he makes a pretty good slider! The menu is printed on dozens of poster sized, wall stapled options. I tried the pineapple burger one, and it was fantastic. Super soft bun, fresh toppings, etc.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
The best flat top greasy burger in town! Flavorful and a three napkin eat easy that needs a glass bottled Coke for the wash down. Definitely not a weekly eat but once in a blue moon as its a heart attack on a plate.
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
These burgers are unreal! Estan perras estas hamburguesas! Enormous and unbelievably tasty! You can feed 2 people with the grande burgers. A lot of choices and they are very fast when preparing your order.
google avatar

Connie S.

Yelp
I like the Latino vibes here which I have been missing since moving to Denver earlier this year. I had the vegetarian burger and it was BOMB. The jalapeño on the sides adds a nice spice to the burger. Fries were good as well.
google avatar

Ed M.

Yelp
Biggest burger, double bacon, extra spicy, two Jarritos. Always on point. If you like burgers like i like burgers, you're gonna love these burgers like I do.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Burgers are good not great, but the fries are down right messianic. Worth the stop if your in the neighborhood but wouldn't got out of the way.
google avatar

Ana C.

Yelp
The burgers are good. A taste of Mexican burgers in Denver. The booths could use improvement as my friend sat and the bench was already broken and she fell.
google avatar

Alissa R.

Yelp
This place reminds me of a Mexican Whataburger. I love the pina queso burger with pineapple and avocado. Or, if you want to be more adventurous, try a burger with the bacon wrapped weenie. All burgers come with fries and the prices are pretty fair compared to other burger joints in the area. This is my new favorite.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
While heading to the MainStay Suites we saw Hamburguesas Don Jesus and thought it would be a great place to have lunch. We walked in to find a large picture wall menu with descriptions in Spanish and English. Everything looks so good! While my wife prefers a plain burger, I like to go all Dagwood Bumstead and put lots of things on. I was even temped to get their hotdog. I chose an Apache Burger with Beef, Ham, Cheese, Avocado, Anaheim with sour cream, Lettuce, Mayonnaise, Tomato, Onion, Mustard and Jalapeño. The Anaheim Peppers were grilled and gave a light kick. The Jalapeño was pickled and served whole on the side. The meat and everything on the burger was fresh and delicious. The burger was so good I made it a priority and could not finish my fries. The burger was big. Had I been thinking I would have saved half the burger at the hotel as a late night snack and filled up on the ample fries. But one bite into that bad boy and all I wanted to enjoy every bit of it then and there. No way could I have finished the larger size if I'd upscaled for a dollar or so. I cant tell you how much a enjoyed this burger. If they had a location in Tacoma, WA they would be my go-to place. If you live in Denver or Arvada I can't see how you could pass this place up. The staff was extremely cheerful, efficient, and courteous. Counter and seating was clean and tidy. All of the patrons were very nice to each other as well. I enjoyed the selection of canned and bottled drinks. A bottle of Jarritos Mandrin Soda went will with my plate. My wife had a Pepsi. I did see that there was some Coke there too. I suggest you check out their menu. You can get bacon wrapped wieners on yours, or grilled slices of baloney or ham. And that hot dog still looks good. Yeah, I might have to come back and try that hot dog.

Yelp
I'm from LA and I work on and off in the Denver area & every time I come to Denver I always have to hit this spot at least a few times during my stay lol. I love burgers, & being from SoCal Mexican Food is king so it was a win/win for me. It's in Sun Valley the hood, el barrio, blue collar paisano atmosphere reminiscent of my hood, very chill yet upbeat!!! Alright now the food, sheesh!!!! Burger is on point, my favorites are the Tejana and the Exotica. They say soda goes well with a burger, but I will recommend you drink water with these bad boys or you will be slumped in food coma straight up!!! I'm just saying!!! I need to try the hot dogs!!!! What's crazy is that I tried finding a place like this back in LA, & NOTHING!!!!! There is NOTHING like Hamburguesas Don Jesus this place is definitely a must go when I'm out here in the Mile High definitely one of a kind!!!! Strole thru the hood and get you a burger!!!!!!

Jazmin T.

Yelp
We went as a large group, despite that the orders came out so quick, portions are huge, and food was very delicious. Will visit again on our next trip to Colorado .
google avatar

Bucky B.

Yelp
Fully loaded, no frills feast. Bringing the Mexican heat to some otherwise American classics. You can take your Chicago or dodger dogs and flush it down the toilet as these Hamburguesa delights clobber the competition with flavor and presentation. Not for the faint hearted, but that's why you came here in the first place. Muy gran sabor!
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
It was alright. I would definitely get something different then the Torta Burger the next time. But I will return to this place as the hot dogs looked good, and the fries were fresh. Cool environment as well.
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Everything I've tried here has been amazing. The front desk woman is also amazing. I've had a few different burgers and the hot dogs. So far so good on everything I've tried keep up the good work. I'll have to try the other location closer to where I live but this location is closer to my work. Thanks
google avatar

Colette D.

Yelp
What a find! Close to my office and unique all on its own!! Great burgers and dogs of all kinds and the best fries around! The service is friendly, you walk up to the counter and order and pay, they will call when food is ready, plenty of food and good prices, you will not leave hungry!
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
So many choices to choose from. I had the mar y mar and it was delish, only too big to finish it. The others had a hamburger and a Cuba I. All very good. Great little place to stop if you're in the neighborhood. Give it a go. You'll like it.
google avatar

Kylie R.

Yelp
My FAVORITE restaurant in Denver! I moved here from out of state and took a chance picking a place I had never heard of, but I did NOT regret. I already took one of my fellow out-of-stater friends here and I can't wait to show more!! Great food! Amazing service! And reasonable prices!!!

Erik L.

Yelp
It's like someone put all my dreams into a hamburger and fed it to me. Great meal. Delicious.
google avatar

Patrick R.

Yelp
This place is great! Stopped here on the way back from the mountains after finding it on yelp. Everything is made to order and fresh. Happy friendly staff. Buns are toasted with fresh toppings and fries crispy and hot. Great place!
google avatar

Dana L.

Yelp
Alright, here we go. If you don't try this place, you are seriously lacking in the adventure category! Divey for sure. Borderline neighborhood, sure. If this place was in Cherry Creek you would pay double and they would be open for the bar crowd until 2:00 am. So the food is simple burgers, yet they're not simple. Bologna and ham on a burger - yep. Jalapenos on your burger - yep. For about $12 you get fries (old school), a ridiculous burger, and a Coke (old school in a bottle Coke). There are a dozen interpretations of a burger and you should just try something new. Bacon wrapped hot dog on a burger - yep. All I can say is check your vision of what a burger is supposed to be and enjoy! It's divey! Almost rough. Clean, but divey. Food is different and nice. Price is okay, maybe a little high. There's no more service than McDonalds. And I still hit the place up for a four star. Try it.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Such GREAT burgers- has that home taste to it - to DIE for. Honestly, I recommend this place to anyone who wants a good burger for a GREAT price

Joel H.

Yelp
Large selection of burgers and very authentic. The burgers are huge and tasty. Definitely a must go if your visiting Denver.
