The best cheap eats in St. Paul - Eater Twin Cities

"With a box of 30 tacos for just $30, hot dogs for under five bucks and the signature Del Gordo burger hovering around the $10 mark, the burger/tacos/dog joint is a sure thing for a cheap eat. There are two St. Paul locations, one near Victoria and Selby Avenues and another in West St. Paul." - Alex Lodner

It was so good! My only regret is not trying more types of their tacos. The service was quick and the ingredients were all very fresh. I’m so glad I stopped here on my vacation and recommend it to anyone looking for quick delicious Mexican food

Really good food at a reasonable price. It's tough to find a place that offers really delicious food that won't break my bank. Their food is honest, delicious and the service is fast and kind. I will be eating here again soon.

I had ordered Asada fries without onions even called the restaurant to confirm they didnt add onions to my meal. Of course it came with many if them. Fries were good but by the time i tried to pick out all the onions my food was cold. UPDATE: The owner offered to replace my meal as long as i emailed him but he never responded my email. He tried and make an effort but didn't keep it.

Great service! I had a order location mix up and they were able to fix the issue and get me my food. The food was for some residents in an assisted living home. They loved the food and were very great full. Thank you Great service! Food was BOMB!

I’ve never seen a burger joint miss the mark quite as much as this restaurant. This place makes Flameburger look like a Michelin rated restaurant. Ordered a simple cheeseburger that ended up being so loaded down with mayo and other ingredients that it sogged up the bun to the point where it could no longer be handled and was just plain gross. The fries were the really offensive part though, arriving both undercooked and cold. Very disappointed with Gordo’s. For the price point there are much better options in the area. Edit: It’s nice of Gordo’s to offer to replace the meal, but this first one was so off-putting that I’d rather just issue a refund through the delivery service and spend that money elsewhere.

Went mainly for the loaded steak fries which did not disappoint! Their burgers were really good but a little on the salty side for My taste. I love the but 2 burgers get one free deal on Friday. I will come again

Ubiquitous is a word commonly defined as — common. However, that definition falls short of the word’s true mark. If something is ubiquitous, it is common in context. An item’s surroundings, location or comparable situation to other relative items in proximity define its distinctiveness. For example, one might compare ubiquitous sushi restaurants in Tokyo, baguettes in Paris, or ravioli in Italy. If this understanding is true, then if one were to read deeper into the relationship, we see that alteration of context transforms the common into an exclusive treasure. Imagine the mind-bending wonder of discovering a buttery croissant bakery in Nairobi, or Land-O-Lakes cheddar in a Beijing department store, as I once did. By altering context we alter expectations and appreciation, converting ubiquitous from common to extraordinary. Hamburguesas El Gordo accomplishes this same joyous contradiction with their Mexican-style street-hamburgers. The metro area is inundated with hamburger options to satisfy your craving. From smashed to stuffed options, you won’t have to go far for your burger fix… Unless you’re seeking something extraordinarily special. Then you’ll want to get out of your routine and take a trip to one of their four locations for a generous Mexican-street-style burger piled high with mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, ham, bacon, avocado, peppers, and traditional American toppings — just to start. On my second time ordering, they asked if I wanted a double burger and I guffawed at the ridiculous possibility of consuming twice the meat. But absurdity is dispelling common considerations for something seemingly out of reach, or out of context. So break free from your expectations and get a delicious taste of Mexico without the travel hassles, and take an El Gordo burger off your bucket list soon.
