"Terry Bortin (husband and business partner to America Corrales of America’s Taco Shop) partnered up with his brother Randy to open this airy, upscale burger restaurant downtown. As the restaurant’s name suggests, burgers and beer are specialties here, although the menu features appetizers, salads, and tortas as well. There are 10 burgers from which to choose, all of them half-pounders fashioned from Angus beef and served on a Noble brioche bun. The Señor Al Pastor is terrific — a patty composed of chuck and ground pork amped up with a pastor marinade, which lends the citrusy notes characteristic of al pastor. The burger is then garnished with grilled pineapple, guacamole, white onion, lettuce, cilantro, and chile de arbol salsa. For something more savory but no less delicious, try the chorizo burger (combining chuck and Schreiner’s chorizo), topped with smashed tots, roasted poblano, white onion, mustard, lettuce, and pepper jack cheese. Pay $3 extra for a side of wispy-crispy onion strings." - Nikki Buchanan

I just had the most incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing - I highly recommend their burgers, which were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. But what really made our day special was the exceptional service and warm hospitality. The owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and the bartender was skilled and friendly, whipping up some of the best margaritas I've ever had. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and the staff clearly took pride in their work. If you're craving a top-notch burger and a great night out, look no further - this place is a must-visit!

Google
Finally tried this place after being on my must try list from all the reviews I saw. I must say, I was not pleased. Horchata cheesecake tasted mass produced, Horchata beverage tasted like it was made from the powder mixture, burgers were heavy on the salt and nothing close to amazing enough to spend nearly $20 each on. Service and environment were good, appetizers and tater tots were great, they made sure the tater tots were crispy, not soggy and not burnt. Overall, flavor of food not the greatest for the price but the service and people seemed great. Also the parking situation is not the greatest when you are a first time customer, paid parking only surrounds this place.

Google
I love Al Pastor tacos with a passion, so when I saw H y C had an Al Pastor burger I had to try it. I thoroughly enjoyed confusing my brain, because the taste and smell screams al pastor taco when you take that first bite and the juices squeeze out of that patty. But when your brain kicks in with the texture it's all burger. It's really the best of both worlds. Grilled pineapple to perfection with cilantro makes your burger taco dreams come true. Hale was kind enough to recommend a great local beer to pair with my burger and fries, which have the perfect crunch to mush ratio (stole from Hale, but it's true). I highly recommend stopping in, the service is great, the view out the front is calming, and the food makes you want to come back for more.

Google
A friend took me here, and it’s a bit of a hidden gem in downtown Phoenix. They have an excellent selection of burgers and beverages. Our meals were excellent. Our waitress was awesome.

Google
Awesome service and recommendations. We had a burger and chicken torta. Both were a lot of food and tasted great. Tater Tots were fun. Beer is cold. Good IPA selection.

Google
Great afternoon on misted patio in downtown Phoenix... adjacent light rail access. Interesting draft beer selections, mimosa and yummy appetizers, including loaded nachos and onion strings and perfect teeter tots to start. Super selection of 1/2 lb., ground on premises burgers, Sonoran hot dog, pozole, and Mexican selections. Desserts, including horchata cheese cake and churros. Give them a try!

Yelp
Mexicano Burger. Great combination of flavors. Service was great and the ambiance was cute and welcoming.

Yelp
I've been to this place twice now, and it's becoming a favorite hangout! The burgers and wings are seriously delicious - flavorful and cooked perfectly. The Al Pastor is my absolute favorite here; it's seriously good. Their ranch dressing pairs well with everything, which is a nice bonus. The servers are friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience enjoyable. Being a new establishment, it's clean and has a cool vibe. I'm definitely coming back for more. It's a great place for good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Yelp
Had booked marked this place and been wanting to try. Had some downtime in downtown yesterday before having to get my daughter to the Phoenix Airport as her flight was delayed. We decided to go ahead and get a late lunch here. Since it was the weekend, (late afternoon) we had no problem with parking and were able to get fairly close without having to walk far which was nice because it was extremely HOT outside. That said, keep in mind that during the week and peak hours: it maybe harder to get to and you will have to pay for parking. Really neat decor in this spot. Very clean open concept and inviting. Plenty of seating and a nice bar area as well. Also, have a nice patio option for those cooler days. Specialty offers are featured throughout the space on chalk boards and lit wall fixtures that include their fabulous flavored chicken wings & drink items which also highlights their Happy Hour options. Our server was Christina. She was sweet, engaging & attentive. We had 6 in our party & we all chose a different hamburger amongst us. One person chose the Don Pastor Torta, Two got the TB Burger, One Ame's Burger, a J Chew Burger and lastly a spicy BBQ Burger. Each plate included a choice of fries, tots or a side salad (additional charge). Wait time wasn't bad as our group was enjoying a few horchatas and a cold beer. All the burgers were really tasty. The TB Burger (if you like mustard) is a delicious choice as its patty is cooked in the condiment & makes it extremely tasty. The Torta was a disappointment. The texture of the chicken was off putting. Had a slimy texture and hard to bite through. I questioned if it could have been bad and my husband didn't think so as it didn't taste or smell like it was, but it was kinda questionable IMO. The BEST burger in our group was the J Chew Burger. Hit the palate with many notes of sweet, salty, savory and spice. Complements to the cooks as ALL burgers were cooked medium as requested. For dessert we had to try their horchata cheesecake. It's a thick slice of delight. We all had a spoon to taste/ share and it was the perfect finish to our meals. One discouraging thing was that at the end of our lunch and prior to receiving or paying our bill- our server told us that with a crew of 5 or more there is an automatic 20% gratuity. This is generally what we pay anyway with good service, but did not like being told this as their menu specifically states it's for a party of 8 or more (see pic). As she was telling us this I almost called her out of her flawed statement, but refrained. Overall food was good, the atmosphere pleasant & a place we would consider again if in the area. This location has been here for several years, seems to do a profitable business and are in talks about expanding the menu for a brunch selection which is a wonderful idea. The owners also have another restaurant in the area that serves Mexican Food and that site seems to be known for their super tacos too!

Yelp
Stopped here for some appetizers and drinks with some friends. We ordered carne asada nachos and onion strings. Both were really good. The flavor on the meat was incredible and the dipping sauce for the onion strings was good and kind of spicy. We each ordered the regular margarita. $10 each and in a tall glass so couldn't complain! Good selection of draft beers for a smaller spot. The service was good as well. 4.5 stars for me. We will definitely be back to try the burgers!

Jaleebi S.

Yelp
I liked everything about it. The service was friendly and efficient (must be local!) and the food, from beer selection to the decadence of the El Sinaloa dog, it was awesome. I loved the decor and I'll definitely return since there was so much of the menu I want to try. Downtown reeks of authenticity these days and this place absolutely belongs!

Lacey G.

Yelp
I was looking for a quick bite in Phx when I stumbled upon this spot on Yelp with almost 5 stars so I knew I had to go try it. They have a kids meal and lunch specials that are great. The restaurant is open, spacious and vibrant with indoor and outdoor seating. I was greeted right away and the service was wonderful. Our food was prepared quickly and was fresh and tasty. I didn't try a beer but I did have a mimosa and it was fabulous. The blue cheese wedge side salad was everything. It was refreshing and flavorful and next time I'll probably get the full size one. It's a great restaurant and I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Our Sunday adventure led us too downtown Phoenix where we were able to discover a gem that seamlessly blends the best of Mexican flavors with classic American comfort food. This vibrant burger spot, with its uplifting atmosphere and colorful decor, instantly set the stage for an unforgettable culinary experience. Upon stepping inside, we were greeted by open windows and patio doors, inviting the lively energy of downtown Phoenix into the restaurant. The decor, adorned with fun and vibrant hues, further enhanced the cheerful ambiance, setting the perfect backdrop for our meal. Our waitress, embodying the spirit of hospitality, guided us through the menu with genuine warmth and helpfulness. With an array of tantalizing options to choose from, we ventured beyond the ordinary and opted for the chorizo burger--a bold choice that did not disappoint. Bursting with flavor, adorned with jalapeños, and drizzled with habanero sauce, each bite was a fiery delight that left our taste buds tingling with satisfaction. But the culinary adventure didn't stop there. We also indulged in the Mexicano burger another masterpiece, each bite delivering a perfect balance of spice and savory goodness. The culinary team behind these creations has truly mastered the art of infusing just the right amount of heat to tantalize the palate without overwhelming it. Their fries and tater tots are equally as amazing. To complement our meal, we savored sips of their phenomenal black tea, a refreshing accompaniment that perfectly complemented the bold flavors of our burgers. Each sip was a testament to the freshness and quality of their beverages. Beyond the delectable food and inviting atmosphere, this establishment goes the extra mile to cater to sports enthusiasts, offering a prime viewing experience for basketball games. Whether you're a die-hard fan or simply enjoy catching a game while dining, this adds an extra layer of enjoyment to an already exceptional dining experience. In conclusion, if you find yourself in downtown Phoenix craving a culinary adventure that transcends the ordinary, this burger joint is an absolute must-visit. From the lively atmosphere to the unforgettable flavors, it promises a dining experience that will leave you craving more.

Yelp
This is my new leading candidate for best burger in Phoenix! Had lunch there - the burger (Ame's Burger) was great and the Prickly Pear Margarita was outstanding! Can't wait to go back and try the chorizo burger!

Jorge F.

Yelp
First of all how beautiful is Arizona in February! Cover of GQ status! House salad is insane! Great size good to split for 2. Pastor chicken wings! What! Never considered that a flavor for wings but they hit the spot with a smoked flavor and all the pastor or adobada flavors, don't come at me you know they are damn close michelada gave me Sonora nostalgia. Music on point and servers are so nice that if you go in and act wrong your probably the mean one haha Food, staff, drinks environment all tip top!

Ariana T.

Yelp
Glad we found this spot... You must get the Al pastor wings very crispy and tasty there's nothing like this in Cali. Sinaloa hot dog was also delicious..Everything is good if I had to pick one it would be the wings don't sleep on them. Great service one person multitasking

Jon H.

Yelp
This place has been on my Hit List. I was nearby and hungry...the perfect match! The establishment itself is cool...exposed brick inside with lots of twinkling lights outside on the patio and trees...gave it somewhat of a cozy vibe. I was quickly greeted and took a seat at the bar. Service was great! The Food: I got the Chorizo Burger and fries. The burger was huge and very tasty. I left full and satisfied which is always a plus. The fries are probably in my top 5 ever...you gotta try them. Although now I wonder how good the tots are...I'll have to go back and try. The only downside was the parking, but A.) I didn't come here for the parking I came for the food, and B.) It's downtown Phoenix so duh. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm gonna hit this place up again. I need to try the Spicy Burger, the tots and that Churro Cheesecake!!

Carrie C.

Yelp
Great service, nice, casual atmosphere and delicious food. One point down for rather soggy nachos, but the plant-based burger, BLT and Caesar salad were all very good.

Esther Z.

Yelp
The Burgers in this restaurant were so BOMB! Omg My mouth is watering just thinking about then again! We had a party of 3 coming in and everyone loved what they got, honestly I dont think you can go wrong with either choice. All of us got burgers and they were spot on, we got tab beer and IPA and it was delicious and refreshing. The fries were a little salty for my taste but nonetheless delicious. I would highly recommend this place for your burger and beer cravings! We got the churros for dessert with caramel sauce and they were so tender and good. The service was really good, she was able to give is suggestions. The vibe of the place is so colorful and the energy was pretty amazing! The only thing that sucked was parking, but I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Steve K.

Yelp
Eclectic burger joint with outstanding service and great food. Off the beaten path so I didn't discover it before. My new go-to when I'm in Phoenix

Madeline H.

Yelp
I 100% recommend this place and I'm literally looking for any excuse to come back and eat here. The food is great. I ordered a drink and didn't like it, I told the waiter and she handled it perfectly. The staff is so friendly. The place is clean and inviting. 5/5.

Tank G.

Yelp
This is a hip and trendy Mexican fusion joint. They staff there was friendly. There is metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance and it is right off of a train stop. They have a decent sized dining area and a full bar with seating. there is also a patio area out front that is enclosed by a low fence. You will see televisions around the dining and bar areas. They have daily lunch specials here and you will find a selection of tasty signature cocktails, along with beer and wine. They do not have complimentary chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants. On their menu, you will find, enchiladas, wings, some exotic burgers with a Mexican flair, tortas and hot dogs. I ordered the Chorizo Burger with fries and got a Bees Knees to wash it down. It took about 15 minutes for me to get me food. My server was nice, but was not the fastest. She disappeared quite often. My food was pretty good. It was not up there with the best burgers that I had, but it was good. I guess I was expecting a bit more flavor. The Bees Knees was really good. I highly recommend it. This is a neat little spot that is worth checking out. They also host private events and offer catering.

Jonathan M.

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience at Hamburguesas Y Cervezas, a Mexican style burger joint and bar in Phoenix. The Spicy Onion Strings were a great appetizer, crunchy and flavorful, and perfect for sharing with friends. The burger was amazing, I ordered the "J Chew" burger, which had a half pound chuck, pepper jack cheese, habanero maple bacon, tomato, guacamole, chipotle mayo and a fried egg on top. It was a mouthwatering combination of ingredients, and I loved every bite. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and rustic. I will definitely be back for more burgers and beers. This place is a must-try for anyone who loves a good burger with a Mexican twist.

Abdiel V.

Yelp
Okay, this one's a bit tricky... how to rate a burger joint without comparing it to all the other fast food restaurants! Well the difference is quite obvious, this is a mishmash of an American classic (the burger) and Mexican high cuisine! So we started with a queso fundido (which was delicious by the way!), but in retrospect a mistake because it took up valuable realest needed for the main course. Then the main attraction, the Chorizo Burger! Very enjoyable. The server, Ms. Hail was very attentive to our needs, and overall fabulous experience. Note: Parking, although accessible it's tricky to find or get too! There is parking around the back of the building, but one has to drive down past the restaurant and then turn right to get to it. I liked it, will definitely come again!

Cori H.

Yelp
Hamburguesas Y Cervesas is FANTASTIC! I have dined here twice since moving downtown Phoenix and have had excellent experiences both visits. The restaurant is in an excellent location right off the Roosevelt Row Arts District and is decorated so nicely. The food is fresh and full of flavor. I love their house salad with tomatillo ranch and The Don Pastor Pollo Torta is so tasty. The pineapple makes the sandwich! The staff is very attentive and super friendly. They work well as a team and keep things in the dining room, patio and bar area running smoothly. It was so fun to watch the Diamondbacks game here with other fans. On my most recent visit, an employee allowed us to sample their new Pozole. All I can say is WOW... this soup was truly fantastic. It had excellent flavor and I would highly recommend trying it!

Brooke S.

Yelp
Pretty good place, the burger was good that I had. They have a good beer selection and the service is great - very friendly and welcoming. I sat on the patio and it was nice.

Israel L.

Yelp
What a great Mexican fusion burger. Loved it. Came during the week and made it to for happy hour. We had the chorizo and al pastor burgers. Very flavorful and fun to eat. Great mix of textures as well. Had the option to have tots or fries, we got both and loved them. For dessert highly recommend the Jamaica cheesecake. Service was very kind and friendly. Coming again for sure.

LaToya E.

Yelp
Fresh off of our flight and pending our room availability, we wondered into this local spot because of its name. Any place that has beer (cervezas) in the actual name had to be worth a try! We arrived just as they were opening for the day to a very clean & welcoming space. The wait staff was quite attentive to us as well as the others guests that trickled in behind us. He was eager to provide recommendations when requested and genuinely pleasant. We opted for one of the signature burgers that he suggested (I chose the vegetarian patty) accompanied by a side salad and onion strings. The food came out fairly quickly. Both were seasoned perfectly and you could taste that they used the freshest of ingredients. Definitely worth stopping in! Pro tip: Try one of their spicy margaritas!

Quanisha M.

Yelp
Very good and chill spot. Burgers were huge and very good. I'm not a crazy burger person but these were good. I really like the onion string thingys. Very good. Spot also gets bonus points for service. With the bartender tending bar and waiting tables the food still came out nice and hot! Fresh food is always good. I'll for sure be returning when I want a good burger and cocktail.

Matthew M.

Yelp
This is one of the many gems located on central ave but it does stand above the rest I have tried!! It has a welcoming modern/rustic/ hacienda style that is fresh clean and welcoming. The service was so friendly, welcoming and on top of everything. The menu include appetizers, tortas and burgers. All have a very unique Mexican twist and we were pleasantly surprised with everything we tried. The Al pastor wings are something we have never had before from the penetrating seasoning to the flame cook these are worth coming back for all by them selves. Then I had the spicy bbq burger which was on an amazing brioche bun and had a perfect amount of spice and flavor!! Even the fried stood out and better than most. If you are downtown and looking for a good burger or wings this is a must!

Nino S.

Yelp
I had the Mexicano burger, tots and a spicy margarita. Honestly, the experience, service and food could not have been better than this.

Brenna C.

Yelp
Really modern, little burger shop downtown. Really colorful atmosphere, I had the pineapple, habanero margarita - refreshing and light, but they had a great bee selection. Hubby ordered a burger, I got a torta and my son got the el sinaloa dog. Food was delicious, service was great. Another great add to downtown area.

Kelsey A.

Yelp
Americano cheeseburger for the win, that is all. I stopped in for pick up after my stomach surgery. The hostess was quick and helpful. I was in and out in less than three minutes. I did ask for no bun since I couldn't eat bread but the burger itself was yummy. Good flavor and listened to my request of how well done to cook it, which I appreciate. It's well decorated and a cute spot to hang out. They're so much better about turning their music off at night too since I live in the building above it. Thank you!

Jim H.

Yelp
We took our family there for the first time on Easter Sunday. We made reservations to be sure we could avoid any wait. The reservations were efficient so we were seated on time. The six of us were served quickly and had a thoroughly enjoyable time together. The food was delicious - my Ame's Burger was especially good and the tater tots were crispy with a light crunch which made them especially tasty. Our server, Hale, did an excellent job helping us understand the subtle nuances of the different hamburgers offered as well as the difference between other items on the menu. It helped us know how to order the best for each person. We were there with two children, so the setup of the restaurant was conducive to bringing the family... Not too loud but not too quiet. Will definitely be back!

Elvia B.

Yelp
This place was awesome. It's a very Inviting space. It has indoor and outdoor seating (misters). It's along the rail line. They have great cocktails as well as craft beer. The main attraction is the food. From the appetizers to the mains and sides, you can't go wrong. The food is yummy. The service was great as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Rena L.

Yelp
Excellent chicken sandwiches! Service was spot on as well. Our drinks were cool and refreshing. The rain was also refreshing!

Matt B.

Yelp
Dear Yelp Community, Y'all got this right. Super good! The area was a lil sus, but it was worth the hike from the convention area. Good call.

Megan J.

Yelp
The owner reached out to me after my last review which I appreciate .We gave it another shot and it was delicious. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. Love the onion straw appetizer. I really like their tater tots. Definitely high quality food. My only gripes are the service being a little slow. And would recommend either getting a host or putting a sign saying to seat yourself. We did the awkward standing there thing again not as long as last time but still a little awkward.

Andrew L.

Yelp
Excellent and interesting takes in the burger. The beers were also great. I especially enjoyed the dark stout which was very chocolate

Rebecca S.

Yelp
A friend told us about this amazing yummy hamburger restaurant. The atmosphere was fun and clean, the patio doors were open, staff was super helpful and nice - and YES, best hamburger we've had in a long time. We'll be back again soon!

Nick C.

Yelp
I hesitate to write this review because I selfishly don't want this place to become too popular. I feel like this is a hidden gem that I can currently enjoy without too much trouble. The burgers are one of, if not the best, that I've had downtown. Most recently I had the Chorizo burger and the flavor blew my mind. It was amazing. I've had other burgers here too and they were equally delicious, but I think the Chorizo is my new favorite. The service has also been amazing and everyone has been so friendly. Please don't make this place too popular. I want to keep this one all to myself. :)

Tyler D.

Yelp
I had the Al pastor wings which were very good but their PASOLE! The best pasole I've ever had in my life! The service is phenomenal. They only schedule 1 person in the front of house during the morning/lunch time and tho there was a good amount of people in there, my homie with the dreads was ON IT! Impeccable service. The ambience is great, it's clean, super modern with exposed brick walls and a beautiful patio. I highly recommend! The burgers looked amazing to. I'll be back.

Matt E.

Yelp
Checked out this newish place. The burgers are excellent. One of if not the best burgers downtown. Prepare to spend $18 for a burger and side. Pricey, but hard to complain given how good the food is. Ok price for dinner, but a bit much for lunch. They could use a few lower priced lunch options or specials. Service was fast and responsive. I will be back.

Matt R.

Yelp
Third time here. They never disappoint!! Great food Great service and Great atmosphere!!! This is becoming our burger spot. Cooked to perfection EVERY TIME! You will NOT be disappointed! Americano-GREAT Spicy BBQ-GREAT Ame's burger-GREAT WEDGE Salad-GREAT

Dave S.

Yelp
Googled best food near me and Hamburguesas Y Cervezas was on the list! Quaint, delicious and the sweetest bartender named Hale! She's great about navigating you through the menu and is very personable. We love , The Original Al Pastor wings served with a tomatillo ranch. Eat them here, take them with, do not miss out on these tasty gems!

Jaimie T.

Yelp
The place was able to accommodate a large group for a high school reunion. Drinks were steadily flowing and the hamburgers and nachos was a big favorite! Awesome Bartender too!

Sarah G.

Yelp
One of the best burgers I have ever had!! Came for lunch, and they had a great specials. I got the Ame's burger and fries and everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned incredibly well. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend!!

Bill S.

Yelp
I never post food reviews. Saw this place on TikTok and decided to bring the wife for lunch. Staff 10 stars / Ambiance 10 stars / Food (including specialty margarita and cheesecake) 20 stars!!!!! I can't recommend this place enough. Next downtown event that we attend this will be our before or after stop for food and drinks!!!!

Viviana G.

Yelp
The food, drinks, and service were all amazing. It was our first stop just after arriving in Phoenix, and after a week, we're all still thinking about it. We each got different burgers and they were all super good. The kids chicken strips were fantastic as well! Casual but trendy ambiance.

David D.

Yelp
I've heard about this place being great for hamburgers and have been meaning to check it out. My work laptop has some annoying Microsoft web browser built-in with local content and clickbait listicles I constantly get sucked into. Hamburguesas Y Cervezas is constantly included on some Yelp-fueled list for best hamburgers, best happy hour and this week I noticed best chicken wings...?!? I ended up at the restaurant on Friday at the tail end of happy hour with my partner. We tried a variety of items from drinks to dessert. The chicken wings are actually insane. Cooked to perfection, nicely trimmed (not a single hair!) and flavorful. The hamburgers and sides were great, obviously and the HH special on drinks until 6:00 PM is something I will now look forward to when I can't decide on where to go after a long day. Hale, our server, was beyond friendly, attentive and helpful with their menu suggestions. I really hope more people discover this place and it LASTS unlike some of the other establishments that received rave reviews and then disappeared. I'll definitely be back to try the torta and even the vegetarian burger. There is something for everyone here.

Susie R.

Yelp
Good food can't complain burgers are huge and cans be shared. Service was okay not the best but overall food was good and beer was not had cold as expected

Melissa L.

Yelp
I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place. Food is fantastic. We had salad, queso fundido and a burger. House salad was chopped perfectly with the right amount of dressing. Great service and the music was on point. Will add this to our list of favorites.

Melinda V.

Yelp
Lunch was delicious I will definitely come back. Mexicano burger was delicious and tots were nice and crunchy. Salad was crispy

Sandra S.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! The absolute best burgers! The wedge salad was sooo good. Every thing we ordered was perfect! And the fries were off the chart!!! Wish we lived closer.

Peggy C.

Yelp
Love the burger options on the menu! Perfect hang over stop after having a rough night out! Loved the idea of burgers, wings to taco option! Great service and great staff!
