This cozy Lebanese spot is a must-visit for its heavenly chicken shawarma and rotisserie delights, offering a fresh taste of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine.
"A lot of Detroiters think Hamido has the best pita wraps in town, and you’ll be hard-pressed to disagree. There are two locations — one in Dearborn, and the other in Dearborn Heights, but both sell some of the city’s juiciest chicken shawarma around. The chicken gets roasted on the spit which imparts a lovely charred flavor, and each wrap features toum and pickles for a nice bit of salty, garlicky tang. The rest of the menu is also lovely with crisp fried pita-dressed fattoush salad, pungently seasoned falafel, and smoky baba ghanoush. Dine it or take it for carryout. Pro tip here: Order one of the special plate meals for carryout and feast off the leftovers for days." - Danny Palumbo
"Hamido’s chicken shawarma is simple and delicious. The meat is spit-roasted imparting a nice char-grilled flavor. It comes out hot and juicy in a tightly wrapped pita with garlicky toum and a side of pickles. The restaurant is offering dine-in seating but also does a very steady carryout service." - Serena Maria Daniels
"Hamido, a bustling Lebanese diner in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, is great for Lebanese breakfast staples or entrees like a crisp, refreshing fattoush salad; falafel rich in pungent garlic flavor; shawarma; kibbeh; and sub sandwiches made in a long crusty hoagie. Dine in or place an order for a meal platter to go and bask in abundant leftovers. The casual counter service is great for to-go orders (call ahead to save time) and for picking up bags of the spot’s freshly-made pita bread. Or, grab a bottled beverage from the refrigerated display case and find a cozy booth and mostly family-friendly vibes." - Serena Maria Daniels
"This humble shawarma shop is a beloved essential in Dearborn. The menu’s star attraction is the shawarma, available in entree or pita sandwich form. The spit-roasted chicken imparts a nice char-grilled finish to it, while the meat option is packed with flavor. It comes out hot and juicy in a tightly wrapped house-made pita with garlicky toum and a side of pickles. Dine-in seating is available, but Hamido also does a very efficient carryout service." - Serena Maria Daniels
