"Housed in an excavated cellar, this Arabic-style hammam occupies a candlelit, beautifully restored space. Work your way through a series of hot and cold baths before settling in for the signature Kessa-glove scrub and massage combination treatment—a godsend when the sensory overload that is Madrid gets to be too much. The communal baths and tea room (the mint tea here is kind of legendary) are unisex, so you’re welcome to chill out in the company of your S.O. between treatments—so long as you keep to the strict no-talking rule. Overall a relaxing experience, but room for improvement. The spa offers a warm bath, hot bath, cold bath, steam room, and showers—all of which contribute to a calming atmosphere. However, the facilities are quite outdated and could use some renovations. The dressing rooms are also cramped, which takes away from the comfort. While I enjoyed the visit, it felt a bit overpriced given the current condition of the amenities.

Google
I stumbled upon this place during my travels through Spain. And all I can say is that I'm still day dreaming about this place. I highly recommend checking it out. It was an incredibly relaxing and a wonderful, immersive experience. I would 100% travel back to Madrid just to enjoy this spa/bath again. If you can, I would recommend ending your session with a massage. It was the cherry on top to an already wonderful time.

Google
What an experience!! Enjoyed the MIDRA experience. We had 45 minutes to try different baths from room temp water to warm spa to cold water and steam room. The tea offered hit the spot. Definitely do the scrub atleast 15min and they bathe you for 15min. I would go back again for this relaxing and soothing experience

Google
Urban oasis of calm ! Hammam Al Ándalus is a truly special experience – like stepping into another world right in the heart of Madrid. The atmosphere is magical, the massage was deeply relaxing, and the whole place radiates peace and beauty. It’s not the cheapest, but absolutely worth it for the serenity it brings. A moment of harmony in the middle of the city chaos. Highly recommend if your soul (and shoulders) need a break.

Google
A holistic experience that manages to transport you from the daily hustle and bustle to absolute tranquility, a true Moorish fantasy! It is a place with an almost obscure, intimate, sensual atmosphere, which spoils your senses and helps you reach the state of well-being.

Our visit to the Hammam in Madrid was absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere was calm, beautiful, and truly relaxing. From the warm baths to the delicious tea and the soothing massage, everything was perfect. The temperature of the pools was just right, and the whole experience felt carefully thought out and high-quality. We booked last-minute, and it still worked out seamlessly – thank you so much for the great advice and flexibility! I went with my sister and cousin, and he was so relaxed during his massage that he even fell asleep – it really couldn’t have been better. We did the massage, foam treatment, and body scrub, and all of it was fantastic. The tea was also a lovely touch – warm, flavorful, and comforting. A big thank you to the staff for the warm welcome and excellent service, both in English and Spanish. You were professional, kind, and passionate – we felt truly taken care of. PS: Guys buy some of their body oils… you won’t regret it! Magico x Sensual ✨ I can recommend this place to absolutely everyone. An unforgettable experience!

Google
✅ friendly & punctual ✅ regularly cleaning and making sure the tea etc. isn’t empty ✅ amenities in the cloakroom ✅massage was good 😐you feel that they are in a rush, no personalised experience, but after your time expired, you have to go. It’s subtle, but still. 😐you are asked to keep your wet swimsuit during the massage, not really relaxing 😐not relaxing either is that they do the massage with plastic gloves 😕my masseuse was yawning and sneezing 😵‍💫 😕you may get your massage in the same room as other people you don’t know. In summary: nice for tourists but not a regular place to return to as a local.

Yelp
Great experience! The massage was light and relaxing, masseuse was accommodating and communicated well. Such a cool vibe, very serene. Would go again!

Yelp
After 8 days of traveling from the States through Europe, this was a great way to spend two hours getting refreshed and revitalized. My friend and I relaxed and enjoyed an hour in the pools and steam room, then did the 15 min body scrub, bathing + 15 min massage. The staff is nice, friendly and can speak English if you need. The experience was great, exactly what we needed, especially given the extreme heat of the summer.

Yelp
This was a fantastic experience - especially after traveling - highly recommend. Very soothing hit and cold water and really nice massage.

Yelp
Probably my favorite experience in Madrid. Although it is quite pricey I think it is worth it. We came here without booking online which I suggest you should do if you want a massage because we were only able to book The emerge sessions (only baths) for 90 minutes. I think this was more ham enough time for us to dip into 4 different temperature pools and a steam room. When we first enter the staff at the front desk gave us plastic bags that look like shower hats to put on our feet so we aren't walking into the spa with dirty shoes. Once we got in there is a changing room for women and men. The women locker room had all the essentials including combs, face wash, lotions, wipes, perfume, etc. Others have mention needing dollar euros to open the lockers but I think they may have changed this. The lockers were free of charge when I went. There were two kinds either one with a key or one using the number lock. Both super easy to use. Don't forget to bring a swimsuit, but they also have spare if you need one. I really enjoyed the hot bath and then going into the cold one. Its super dim inside the bath area and is only lit by candles. There is also calming music in the background and tea is offered. Overall a very relaxing experience and different from the types of spas I've been to.

Yelp
I have been to many spas. I rank spas using two primary categories (1) quality of services, (2) quality of facilities. This spa has multiple locations. The facilities at this spa location were ok, which is why I am giving them 2 stars. The building was novel and carried interesting historic value and appearance. The pools were very shallow so you had to sit if you wanted to immerse yourself in the water. The steam room was good. The services were awful. First, they did my scrub. The woman performing the service got soap all over my suit and didn't rinse it off (the fact that I had to wear a suit was odd to begin with), but when she told me not to worry about the soap I was perplexed. After the scrub, I was escorted to a room with other people in it for my massage. The therapist directed me to lay on the table in my wet, soapy, suit. I refused. I told her that I would change into my dry clothes then she could do my massage, which is what I did. The massage was very disappointing too. There are many great spas, but this is definitely not one of them.

Yelp
Love love love love love! The United States has nothing like this and it was an experience of its own. I couldn't take any pictures inside of the Hammam, but let me tell you how beautiful it was. I left feeling like a new woman! The Hammam is located just off the square. When you arrive for your designated time, make sure you arrive early to give yourself time to check in. Because once your time starts, it ends with everybody else. Make sure you bring a change of clothes and a swimsuit. The rest is provided. After you check in the Hammam is explained to you, then men and women go into different dressing rooms and change into their swimsuits. Towels are provided, but they all look the same so make sure you keep track of where yours is at. Even so, it may disappear. Regardless, you can always get a new one from any of the staff nearby. The changing rooms have showers, hairdryers, and anything else you need to clean up. Before you go into the Hammam, you're required to rinse off. There are showers both in the changing room and downstairs in the spa area. I recommend starting with the steam room to open up your pores. Then you have the option to go into several different pools at different temperatures. There is freezing, cold, warm, and hot. It's so refreshing! There's also an area where you can go and drink hot tea and water. Massages are included, so when it's time for your massage someone will come get you so you can wait for the masseuse to be ready. The decor is like nothing else. You feel absolutely regal being in there and all of the entrances are curved arch Waze. It feels like you're going into little caves. It's not claustrophobic at all though. Lighting is dim and allows you to completely relax with the sound of water falling around you. If I had known how fantastic this was, I would've spent every day of my trip here. This Turkish Bath was my favorite part of Spain!

Yelp
First hammam experience. Was told it's a must do in Spain and the lonely planet touted this place as the best in Madrid. Very clean, good service, nice quiet space. You can't pictures inside the bath, for privacy sake and everywhere is dripping wet...so these are all superficial. It's expensive but organized and after long hot days of touring the city this a welcome reprieve. They have baths with differing temperatures and hot tea. They provide towels and a locker. The massages are to your pressure liking and the scented oils are incredible. I'd definitely go back! In fact when we were down south we did. And got a discount because of our first Madrid visit.

Yelp
This was a great experience minus a few problems with them not really being able to communicate so well in English.

Yelp
Sometimes I pride myself on being a savvy traveler - and having been to the Hammam, I can now, vigorously pat myself on the back for booking a visit there. Traveling all day is not just a chore, but it's physically taxing. I had decided that once I hit the ground in Spain I'd go straight from the hotel check-in desk to the Hammam for some much-needed bodily restoration... If you book ahead as I did (their easily navigable site) you usually have a lead on appointment times. Arrive early so that you can enjoy the subterranean pools (various temperatures) to get yourself hydrated and relaxed before your treatment. I am not ashamed to say that not only did I fall asleep during my massage, but I'm pretty sure that I may have even snored at some point - and you know what - I'd do it again. The hammam itself is beautiful. The lighting (candles, skylights etc.) is well appointed, with Moorish music that wafts through the air. There is a tea room and even an area where you get to pick out the aroma of essential oils that you'd like applied to your treatment. Red Amber, Lavender - you get the idea. Not only could I have spent the day here, but by the time my friend and I left we were both refreshed and ready to conquer a full day of exploring. It really was the perfect way to start the trip. Make sure to bring your own swimsuit so that you don't have to purchase one. There are lockers provided...well stocked bathrooms/showers for before/after the day's treatments. Not to be missed.

Yelp
It was beautiful, but the water was only warm, not really hot. The stone benches, etc., were all really cold. They said they'd been closed the week before and that everything was taking a while to warm back up. Maybe, but then warn people.

Yelp
I visited Madrid in March 2017. I gave this place 3 stars because of their service. They failed to tell us instructions in English and failed to mention that they didn't want you to use your cell phone. Aside from that, the baths were really relaxing, minus a few children playing in the water. I experienced the Hot and warm baths, along with a massage, it was magnificent. The teas were delicious and refreshing.. Con: They should not allow kids, it was extremely dark and very slippery. watch your step at all times!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a GREAT way to relax while you adjust to time changes and are post-plane on a trip to Madrid. My boyfriend and I made a reservation for our Day 1 in Madrid and it was the best idea ever. We're from NY and we were so tired from traveling. Also, in NY we have the Ancient Aire Baths - and this is similar, however, less expensive while almost 100% as nice (NYC's is a bit fancier, but don't be dismayed). Get the full bath time plus the scrub and 30 minute massage, it's a glorious time you won't regret.
google avatar

Stella H.

Yelp
Worth it, Relaxing. Only Con: You only get 1.5 hours in the spa, which includes the massage time you choose and getting changed and showered before you enter the pools.
google avatar

Inigo M.

Yelp
My 2nd time with this chain and it was excellent. The atmosphere is fantastic. The pools are larger than those in the Granada location. There's a cold, warm, and hot pool, a wet sauna room, and a tea room. The tea is delicious. One visit lasts 1.5 hours, including a massage if you booked it; this is plenty of time to enjoy the experience. It's best to go when it's least crowded; look up popular times on Google Maps and avoid those if possible. Call ahead to book your session. All you need is your swimsuit and 1€ coin for the locker. Flipflops/sandals are not allowed. You will be asked to wear plastic booties over your street shoes to the locker room when you start your session. The locker rooms are generally small and have only a few showers, so if you want to beat the crowd at the end of your visit, go immediately when they ring the bell. They could further improve by adding more chairs/benches in the lobby. Otherwise they're perfect. I wish they would open a location in California. It would be very popular.

Yelp
One of the highlights of my trip in Madrid! After 2 days of sightseeing I can say that my feet were sore and my legs so tired but this place gave me back energy! I booked a bath + kessa scrub + massage with red amber infused oil. First of all the place is BEAUTIFUL inside and the staff is kind and very helpful. They give you all the time you need (about 2 hours) and strict instructions before getting in to ease the experience. You would need a bathing suit but they would be happy to lend you one if you forgot. It is clean and big enough inside to not see others. They do offer mint tea inside which was a nice touch. The praticiens were really gentle and professional. Everyone was talking in a soft voice. The treatment cost me 50 euros (i benefited of 10 euros discount) and it is totally worth it. I will make sure to come again whenever I have the opportunity to be back in Madrid.

Yelp
We need a place like this in California. I would travel to Spain again just for this experience alone (although I love everything about Spain). The moment you walk into the quiet pool area, you are overcome by relaxation and peace. The pools - one cold, one warm, and one hot - are large enough to sit in peace even with others nearby. The ambiance is quiet and soft with light just filtering in from the beautifully crafted latticed windows and the lanterns with candles. The massage was fantastic and took place in a room that was large and somewhat open with arched doorways - not at all like a typical spa massage room in the US. You finish with more time in the pools (and steam room) and walk out feeling like you are floating.

Yelp
Perfect place to end a crowded week-end in this cosmopolitan! The hammam is beautiful, the baths are great and the tea-room is so nice! There are a couple rules including silence, so maybe not ideal for a group of giggling girls who wants to make fun ;) It is really about the relaxing-experience. We really enjoyed it, the contrast with the hustling city is fantastic!
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
I went here first when it was medina mayrit- the upgrade is great. The baths themselves are so excellent, however they added a tea room which is great. I highly recommend going for the kessa and double massage package. If you book it online at their website you can get a good discount. The kessa treatment was refreshingly given on a raised stone slab- after a few minutes you felt a part of the stone. The massage takes place in a relaxing room on a massage table. You can choose between legs or torso, or both. They don't massage your arms though.
google avatar

Mary D.

Yelp
Excellent massage. It was not possible to enjoy using the pools as they were occupied by young couples engaging in erotic behaviour! I think there should be separate sessions for couples or someone working there should tell them to get a room!
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Loved it. Was nice to relax after several days of seeing parks and museums. The baths and ambiance were just perfectly. Just FYI, it is coed so bring a bathing suit. Highly recommended if you want to take a break from the sights.
google avatar

Elle M.

Yelp
Bath part was very nice and relaxing but massage was AWFUL. Went with a friend and we were on beds next to each other listening to the masseuses whispers and laugh to each other the entire 45 minutes. Felt very uncomfortable and disrespected as they were obviously only interested in chatting instead of giving us our massages. Would not recommend to a friend.
google avatar

Yelp
Exquisite and breathtaking....a massage is a must. The masseuse was absolutely fantastic, her hands eased all my aches and pain away. You're going to feel so good that you're not going to want to leave. When I woke up from my deep sleep, I was disoriented. Yes!! That's how amazing the experience was....till next time.

Louise L.

Yelp
This place was everything I needed. A time to relax and enjoy a bit of silence. The baths were great! They ranged from ice cold to warm to hot. The steam room was great as well. The Body Scrub is pretty awesome. I do recommend for everyone to try it. The massage was really relaxing and comfortable. Please make sure to try the tea!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing!!!!! Best Spa ever!!!!!! I loved every moment of being there. The staff were kind and attentive. The baths themselves are like going back in time. The architecture is stunning. I love how they encourage being quiet. They have three different temperature pools, a cold pool and wet sauna. My massage was great. It was very relaxing.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
It was my second time coming and it wasn't as great as I remembered. Remember to bring single euro coins to lock up your locker.

Alex R.

Yelp
This was such a cool experience while in Madrid. It's a bath house with massage treatment add ons. It is clean and was quiet when I went on a weekday around 7/8pm. Got the hour long massage - it's in a communal room which I didn't know about originally but it was quiet and professional. I fell asleep during it! The baths are so cool - there's three of them and a steam room. It's very romantic and relaxing. Highly recommend.

Yelp
After reading other reviews that complained of overcrowding, I was nervous about going. But there were only about 15 people in the baths at the same time as us (we went on a Tuesday afternoon). The baths are beautiful and I felt as if I had been transported to an exotic locale. The vaulted ceilings look like they are 100 years old (which I suppose they could be) and dim ambient lighting is supplied by small skylights and some artificial lighting that is diffused with ornate screens. It was invigorating to go from the super hot sauna to the cooler baths. We booked the 90 minute bath with a 30 minute massage. I've had better massages, but for the price, this was pretty good. The way it works, is that they offer appointments every two hours, which equates to 90 minutes of bathing plus 30 minutes to get changed, shower, etc. It is co-ed, and bathing suits are worn the whole time (including during the optional massages). If you book a massage, they will come find you at some point during your bath and they will escort you to the massage room. For me, this was during the last 30 minutes of the bath time. I really enjoyed this experience, but I think I would have gotten a bit bored if I hadn't booked the massage, as 90 minutes is probably too long to soak in silence (they don't allow talking, since this is a time to relax and mediate).
google avatar

Les B.

Yelp
Very disappointed to learn that you can't choose the gender of your massage therapist. I would have upgraded my massage package, but without this choice, I chose the minimal package. I don't recommend these baths because of the limited choice available to patrons.
google avatar

Sheila T.

Yelp
The baths and the massage were pretty awesome, and if there was a place like this in San Francisco, I would be a regular customer. My husband asked what I wanted for my birthday and I said that I want a gift certificate from here. Really, it's wonderful, imagine relaxing in warm baths, and taking an occasional break for mint tea. Also, there's a Turkish steam bath and a cold bath. The steam bath is a little too hot for me, but some say it's good to clear out the toxins. I suggest making a reservation because it's a busy place.
google avatar

Tim W.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went for the Al Andalus ritual and bath, which was the complete package: bath, traditional massage with aromatherapy oil and a relaxing massage with the use of lather (which apparently is in the style of an original Hammam). It was excellent. The no talking rule was generally upheld and this added to the serenity. Just the ticket after two full days of sightseeing in Madrid. Go if you have the time, and I'd also recommend you be brave and go for a firm massage when given the option!

Yelp
Enjoyed my first visit to Hammam Al Ándalus Madrid. A must stop for weary travellers. Set beneath the city in brick catacombs you experience steam, hot pools and a cold plunge. Gommage and massage are optional but so worthwhile. Friendly staff and ideal location make this a special place. http://madrid.hammamalandalus.com/en

Yelp
I had a nice time here, I would give 3.5 stars if I had the option. As someone who has been to a number of Turkish-style bathhouses, this one is definitely one of the more beautiful I have been to. It really is as beautiful as the pictures. There is a steam room with a certain scent. If you look into the bowl in the middle of the steam room, you can actually see that it is full of leaves which are producing the scent. It was nice to know that it wasn't coming from a bottle containing possible additives. Even though I went at night, the lights are set up in such a way where it feels like it could be daylight creeping in through the domes. In the bathhouse, you can relax and lose sense of time and place which I love. Aside from the steam room, you will find pools of different temperatures, a hot pool, warm pool, and a cold pool, all without scents. The place is lacking a dry sauna. In addition, since I came at night, I was not able to book any type of massage or scrub which I had been looking forward to. Be sure to make your appointment early. I don't like that there is a time limit. At other bathhouses I have been to, there is no time limit. The point is to spend a long amount of time detoxing and relaxing. I suppose since this bathhouse is smaller, they cannot accommodate too many people which is why they place the limit. This is more of novelty thing than a lifestyle as it would be in the Middle East. I will add that I loved the mint tea on draft. You can help yourself to it any time. One more thing I will add is that I came here on a Friday night at 10 pm. The place was full of couples who were making out and all over each other in the pools. If that is not your thing, try to avoid the evenings. Overall, I had a nice experience. There were definitely a few things lacking that I'm used to having at a bathhouse but I would come back I had the opportunity.

Franky C.

Yelp
Poor service - tried using the Yelp check in to get a discount but management wouldn't allow the gift cards for same day use. Not sure what is the reasoning behind this policy.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the ultimate self-pampering. Imitating the Hammans of Turkey, or public baths and saunas, this place is absolutely beautiful. The pool is always warm and inviting and you can get yourself a massage or some other therapies while there. They have different packages, depending on how much time - and money - you are willing to spend. They go from a simple bath-massage to an all out treatment session followed by a dinner in their restaurant.

Yelp
very nice atmosphere and could be a great place to realx if it werent for the strict rules and timings and the hopelessly small changing rooms where you constantly need to pay attention not to poke your nose into the next guy's behind...

J A.

Yelp
We went to this Bathhouse yesterday! This was my husbands idea and I have never been to something like this before. A guest relations specialist at our hotel called and reserved an appt for us. I really loved this place! The baths are relaxing, the steam room is amazing and has a nice scent ( not sure if it's eucalyptus) and the tea was refreshing and tasty! We also had massages ( my massage w a female and my husband had a male). We loved our massages and we are very happy with our experience. Front desk were friendly and when we asked follow up questions she was very nice to re- explain things to us. There is lastly a room where you change that has showers, lockers, and In here they have everything you need to get ready ( blow dryers, q-tips, combs, perfume, lotion, bags to put your bathing suit into, etc. I felt euphoric after we left and although we are only in Madrid for four days we are contemplating coming back before we leave.

Yelp
beautiful place. a must visit. unfortunately always crowded. make reservations a week prior. don't even think of cancelling or changing ur reservation as they will want to keep your money so beware!
