The 18 Best Restaurants In Berlin 2024

"There are some easy ways to assimilate in this city: wear black, actually wait for the little green man to light up before crossing the street, and know what people are talking about when they mention Hamy Café. This popular spot serves the most delicious (and affordable) Vietnamese food in the city, where not ordering the curry chalked up on the specials board is more sinful than anything you’ll get up to in Berghain. The inside is small and cramped, while the outside area, sat on the busy Hasenheide road, offers lots of seating. You’ll still have to queue and cram yourself on a wooden bench with several other people, knocking elbows over huge portions for just €6.90. If you want to score some serious popularity points, bring your friends here on a summer evening after watching the sun set over nearby Tempelhof." - cindy brzostowski, olivia ladanyi

Google
Really nice and fresh Vietnamese cuisine. The menu is not long but that may be actually a positive thing. Nice drinks - in good prices. Just banana pudding was a bit something else from what I expected - more like banana shake with peanuts on top. From main dishes I recommend curry with chicken.

Google
busy little place but very fast service. the menu is very small. great amount of food, so the price is okay. the beef pho was very good, and I was happy they could make it without anise for me. I got the Dante coffee and was surprised because I expected it to be sweeter, but that's just a personal preference. they accept cash only, and when I made the payment I wasn't given the correct amount back. I didn't mind much because they were busy enough as it was, and I'm not about to make a scene because of 10 cents. just something to keep an eye on

Google
We had red chicken curry and absolutely loved it. Fresh and delicious! You will get your order in only a few minutes. Be prepared to share tables with others. Can only pay by cash. All dishes are under 10€!

Google
We were excited! Busy/authentic and lively atmosphere. Small lounge full of all spetrum of guests, from business to teenage hipsters. Authentic servis stuff working in godpace, never got my food so fast. Well it says its fast food 😌 Tiny menu with 3 meals. Tasted amazing gor very little money. We managed and recommend the only dessert you can get there. Dessert dissppeared mysteriously very quickly as you can see… give it a chance! 😊

Google
Hamy Café is a cozy spot with fresh, flavorful Vietnamese food at fair prices. The staff are incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home. Highly recommend a quick visit!

Google
Hamy cafe is one of my favorite places to eat in Berlin. The food is delicious and leaves you full. I got the wonton soup and my friends got that day’s special, which was the red curry. Both were sensational.

Google
It was a nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Food was nice and cheap. In other restaurant, this same food might cost 13euros and we paid 8euros. I definitely recommend

Google
Go for the food but not the ambience. The service is quick but based on a quick turn over of customers. This is a very popular local eatery and it is very cheap compared to other nearby options. Be prepared to queue for a seat and to share a table with other patrons, but the food is worth it!

Yelp
TL;DR BEST PHO IVE HAD IN EUROPE are you missing asian (Viet) food? do you want to try real asian food? please come here. your stomach will be full. your heart will be full. mine most def was.

Yelp
Ordered the noodles with curry sauce dish and it was fantastic!! The curry was super delicious. I never had curry with noodles. I'm used to always eating curry with rice, so this was new for me. They went really well together and I'm definitely a huge fan. This dish was also just 5 euros, very affordable. This place gets pretty crowded so come early if you want to avoid long waits. We came around 6:30pm and by 7pm it was packed with a line forming.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening and it was packed the whole time. I ordered the tofu curry and mango lassi. The curry was perfectly seasoned and it came with a lot of fresh vegetables that complimented the sauce perfectly. The highlight of the meal was definitely the mango lassi. Probably the best lassi I have ever tried. You could taste the fresh mango and it had the right creaminess and sweetness. It was also crazy cheap (only about 7 euros for my meal)!

Yelp
Food is amazing, portions are large, price is cheap. The ultimate trifecta. Ordered chicken pho, chicken curry and tofu curry. All are amazing. Preferred the tofu in the curry because the tofu had better texture and flavour and you received more than when you order the chicken. For the pho though I would stick with the chicken. Service is fast and to the point. Don't really see the point of going anywhere else for Vietnamese food, it doesn't get much better than this.

Yelp
very good. Had the Pho Bo here. I like Vietnamese food. Watermelon shake was fun to drink just got better and better. I got a good buzz off noodles and sprouts. I am sad it is gone. It's for a nother dat I'd definitely go back for more noodles a different day.
google avatar

Alejandro M.

Yelp
Food and prices are out of reality. The space is pretty small though and friendliness is not the key point here. Sit fast, eat fast, pay fast. It's worth it? For sure!
google avatar

Tess B.

Yelp
This place is the bomb! The menu is in German but based on other reviews I ordered the chicken curry and my dad got the beef pho. Both were super delicious! The pho was classic and tasty and the chicken curry came with rice and a bed of spring greens over the curry. Flavors were perfect, and just the right amount of spice! So glad we found this place, our first meal after arriving to Berlin~

Yelp
Nom nom nom....... That's all anyone could hear coming from me and my boyfriend as we ate here last Saturday. We were starved, it was cold and rainy, and the food at Hamy did the trick. We both opted for the vegetarian version of the day's special-a spicy peanut sauce filled dish with tofu, vegetables, and rice. We snagged the only empty indoor table, the food came out in minutes, and we ate until we were full and warm. At 4,90€, this place really can't be beat.
google avatar

Dominika K.

Yelp
Short menu, all the dishes are fresh and full of taste with very good prices (4.90€). The only problem I have with this place that it is super popular and always crowded. If you don't like crowds and rushing while eating then better go somewhere else.
google avatar

Anilil N.

Yelp
This is the best and fastest place to grab some Vietnamese food at hermannplat. Would really recommend this to place to people who wanna eat good food fast. Do not expect the place to be silent which can be good and bad.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
This place was recommended to me by some random person I met in a bar in Berlin. Get the curry special it's one of the better curry's I've ever tasted also for 4,5 Euros the price is right. The food also came so fast that I spent several minutes trying to convince the server it wasn't mine , turns out it was.
google avatar

F. L.

Yelp
Definitely pretty tasty, and fresh ingredients, but not that authentic. It seems that there's a distinct Berlin style of Vietnamese food, which is heavily Germanized---I'm pretty sure zucchini is not a traditional Vietnamese vegetable, for instance.
google avatar

Maurice A.

Yelp
I had the chicken-curry dish. Flavourwise it was ok, nothing spectacular. There wasn't that much meat in the dish. I was a bit disappointed.
google avatar

Ilkin I.

Yelp
They have daily offers, 2 main dishes and one soup. It tastes really great and the price is also good. The only thing I don't like is staff is a little bit rude.
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
Vegans and vegetarians are NO LONGER WELCOME at Hamy. We had eaten here many times, choosing the tofu options and requesting no fish sauce. However, at our most recent visit the server insisted that now NO dishes at Hamy can be made vegan, it is no longer possible to order anything without fish sauce, and that vegans (and vegetarians, unless they eat fish) must eat elsewhere. He basically angrily threw us out of the restaurant for requesting vegan dishes. What a terrible disappointment! Try "From Hanoi with Love" on Hermannstraße instead, which is still happy to welcome vegetarian and vegan customers. If the folks at Hamy read this and this is NOT the new policy as our server insisted, I'd love to know what was going on yesterday!

Yelp
A good spot to have a quick, cheap and tasty lunch/dinner with fresh ingredients from a small menu. The two daily specials are usually a good choice and at 4,90 Eur a good deal. They are fast, efficient and a bit hectic. Tables are not exclusive (people are added if the table has more seats) and if you come with a group your entire group needs to be there before you get the next table. The atmosphere is a little crowded. This is not for your relaxed business lunch or a romantic dinner. If you expect maximum service, courtesy and attention from the staff of a restaurant, this is not your spot and you probably should look for something more pricy. The reason they can pull this of is that they are fast and flip tables like crazy. If you appreciate a simple quick way to get your lunch/dinner with some fresh ingredients, this might be one of the best options in the area! I feel inclined to write this review as I witnessed a scene today at Hamy were a english speaking customer, a mid aged lady with Fur Hat and pseudo intellectual styling, was accosting one of the service staff in the most horrible and entitled way, cornering and harassing her for at least 5 minutes, as the staff explained to her that she could only be seated once her entire group arrived. The customer was basically assaulting the staff verbally in the worst ways with an entitlement that was nothing short of complete trumpism, also mentioning she would write a terrible review and this would never fly in London or America and is a terrible practise by the restaurant. The staff took the harassment with grace and stayed calm. As I interfered and told the customer that she made her point and should leave it be, she escalted even further as her slightly embarrassed party arrived (I spare you the nationalistic, narcissistic and entitled cursing). Anyhow, if you feel for that customer, you should probably avoid Hamy like the plague. If you are that customer, I have no hope for you.

Yelp
AMAZING. I enjoyed the food so much. Order the tagesgerichte .. just order it without question. Should be written on a chalkboard in the small dining room area. Just order a meal - should be enough. The reviews are accurate. Go here ! SO GOOD !
google avatar

Katze M.

Yelp
All the vegetarian dishes aren't vegetarian. There is always chicken broth or fish sauce in it. That is criminal, don't go there!
google avatar

Zoe K.

Yelp
Such a great, quick restaurant with fresh viet flavours. Order from the dailies and there's usually a veggie version provided, I got a delicious tofu lemongrass curry. Yesterday I had my favourite from the fixed menu- the glass noodle salad. A watermelon shake is also handy if you load up your dish with the chilli sauce on the table.... Every dish we tried has been on point, only the pho received a lukewarm reception from my boyfriend, I'll be back tommorow!
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I spent 4 days in berlin, and ate here twice! the first time was dinner, and we both got the Pho. It was so amazingly delicious, that we barely spoke to each other during the meal. The place is small, and kitchy. I love that its not pretentious..but just good ol' food. The second time we came here, it was early in the day....around noon. And the pho was no where near as good as in the evening. I suppose the reason for this was because the broth didnt have enough time to simmer and become delicious lol... so if i had to suggest anything, if youre going early in the day, get one of their noodle based dishes....but if youre going later, get the pho! itll change your world!!
google avatar

Veronica T.

Yelp
I crave vietnamese food everywhere i go. At first I had serious doubts about the authenticity of the food. Still it was super cheap (6 euros) so whatevs. I ordered the glass noodle chicken salad. It was sooo good. I would eat here all the time if I could. Super cheap, fast, and fresh. Chicken was dry but that's really the only thing wrong with the dish.
google avatar

Daniel A.

Yelp
Got there with some friends for lunch, we ordered and waited less than 5 minutes - and the food was already on the table. Good food and great value for money .
google avatar

Flavor G.

Yelp
WOW, i can't believe i waited so long to go here. this is the best vietnamese food i've had in the city so far. as other people mentioned, there are only 2 main course choices per day and they are usually around 5 euro. the food is fantastic, full of flavor, the right amount of spice and fresh ingredients. they have an open kitchen where you can see the gigantic pots of either dish, ready to be served fast. our food arrived in under 5 minutes. i even dropped my chopsticks and had a new pair appear in 10 seconds. the staff was very nice and the cooks all seemed quite happy and joking with each other. i will be back here all the time. it's very popular for a reason!
google avatar

Jonas D.

Yelp
It's quite good, and the price is right. And the food comes lightning fast Flavor is good, becareful, they do mean spicy if they say so. Esp. the squid salad. Lighting/atmosphere could be better but it's also Hermanplatz.. dont expect too much. I havent tried the pho, has anyone? I dont dare try the pho in Berlin.. I hate being disappointed
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
mmmm...PHO! Nothing can turn your world right side up like a good bowl of PHO! I found this place walking to Hermannplatz station from my apt and it has been a staple since. I love the no frills decor and the cheap prices. The specials are always good and the service is excellent for Berlin standards. If you want a great meal for under 5 EURO then this is the place to go!
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
Exactly the same family as M. Vuong's in Mitte. Two daily specials. Funky Asian drinks. Cat out of bag since 2007.
google avatar

Graham L.

Yelp
Great bare bones imbiss. As good as you'll get in berlin . everything people say is true.
google avatar

Alexander H.

Yelp
Oh good lord this place was good and cheap! My wife and I went the first night after craving pho and seeing it as a highly rated Pho restaurant. Everything on the menu €4.90, an unbelievably good steal. We both ordered pho, I ordered beef and my wife ordered the chicken. Both came incredibly fast and the flavour was fresh and with a heady aroma of exotic spice. While we were planning to visit other restaurants during our time in Berlin, we could not resist coming back for dinner another night. I had the same pho again (seriously, that good) and my wife had a yellow chicken curry. We sat next to the open kitchen this time and I can confirm that these meals are hand cooked, and you can tell. I seriously don't know how they can charge so little for such a great meal! ONLY concern is they really cram people in. As a couple, expect to share a table with another couple or two as no seat goes unused. Not a good place for a quiet, romantic dinner... but for cheap, fast and delicious, this place is unparalleled!
google avatar

Andrée W.

Yelp
This is such an awesome restaurant, we were there twice during our short stay. The food is great (I recommend you to try the daily menus) and the service is always super fast. Only downside is that it's usually very crowded and doesn't have a lot of space, but there is a take away option. The food is also extremely cheap.
google avatar

Jeremy J.

Yelp
Super popular and very cheap. When I lived in Berlin this was my favorite cheap meal. The daily 2 dishes are the way to go and there juice drinks are also nice. During the summer the watermelon drink is refreshing and worth the € 2.90. Service is attentive. Fans keep the interior cool. Because this place is so popular, it's best to go at an odd hour.
google avatar

Hyeyoung G.

Yelp
They really busy I could feel the energy. I had Beef pho. The taste is pretty good. The table and chair where nearby entrance are small and not cozy.
google avatar

Nour J.

Yelp
Just be careful we ate yesterday and i found small piece plastic in the food i told the waiter and he said it is ok it is not a big deal it is terrible
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
Second time here, and just so delicious! Cheap and fast, this place is a great stop for a quick lunch or dinner. They're also open late, which is nice when you need a pho fix. I have gotten the special once and the pho another time, and it's one of the only places to find a little of spice in very bland Germany. Not the fanciest joint in town, but worth a stop!
google avatar

Mads Emil D.

Yelp
Nice food, really cheap and quick service. A perfect spot for a weekday dinner by yourself or with friends.

M M.

Yelp
So great 10/10. We went back for the exact same meal the next day! Fresh golden tofu curry large sumptous portions with a wonderful staff. Top Top Top. Simple Menu Affordable quick and perfect. I miss it already and need to go back!
google avatar

Mohamed S.

Yelp
That's what is called foodgasm very delicious vitnamese food, the prices are very good but try to get a seat if you can ! ! !
google avatar

Xtina G.

Yelp
I love you so much, Hamy. Within 5 minutes of ordering, I have a cold beer and delicious curry in front of me garnished with loads of crunchy vegetables, fried onion, and those authentic spices that I miss so much. I could eat Hamy every single day of the week. Often, I do.
google avatar

KJ N.

Yelp
OK, the food is good and tasty for the price but being so popular and trendy it is almost a hassle to go and eat there. Almost annoying since one can not sit down and enjoy the meal because the next diners are already lurking and tapping their feet, waiting for your seat to become available. This alone makes me deduct 2*'s on the rating. They also try to get you out the door as soon as you are finished. Sorry, but there are other Viet/Thai places in the neighborhood and that's where I go. Tata Hamy

Qype User (alicel…)

Yelp
Fantastic fresh food. Fast service. Very busy at times, but this gives it a buzzing atmosphere, and once you're seated, you are always served very quickly. Very reasonable prices for fresh, filling portions.
google avatar

Django Z.

Yelp
Okay "pan-Asian" food for German tastes. Not Vietnamese, at least not the two dishes I tasted. Neither was the Ca Phe Sua Da. If you don't care about that, go for it. It's cheap and pretty good.

Stefán A.

Yelp
worst service ever, super rude waiter. not a nice place to eat at. food was ok though.
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
While merely very good in a city of excellent Vietnamese cafes, Hamy gets four stars based upon their very positive cost-benefit ratio. For just over 4 Euros - just twice the cost of beer - you'll get a tasty bowl of soup, likely in less than 5 minutes. A perfect place after a short spree through the bars of Reuterkiez, but beware the crowd that accumulates just before the Hasenheide Freiluftkino opens at 9.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Wonderful, fresh Vietnamese food. Reminded me of Monsieur Vuong--just as good, and less of a scene. Definitely worth a visit.

Greem J.

Yelp
The restaurant is quite popular so I had to wait but the servers were nice. I was curious why it was popular. I got a ball of vegetarian won ton dumpling soup. It was big and cheap. The first taste was salty. I was a little bit disappointed at this moment. However I kept eating and got to like the soup and drank the last drop of the soup. It had a lot of zucchini, cabbage, and interesting shaped wonton. When I finished the ball, I looked around. I realized that most people at the restaurant were eating curry noodle... I'm going to try that clear noodle curry next time. Wednesday July 6th, 2016 lunch in Berlin with Jeong Hwan

Yelp
Very tasty, fast service and fair price. I recommend it!
google avatar

Jay W.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, fast food. I ate lunch and dinner there today! They had an English menu. The place was rammed all day long. Seriously good food. Oh, and did I mention it was €4.90 for the chicken curry I had...!
google avatar

Tyler L.

Yelp
Hamy is one of my favorite places in Berlin! Definitely some of the better Vietnamese I've had too! I recommend one of the daily specials, which is always worth it. For €4.90 you can get quite a lot! Despite the crowd, you usually won't wait very long, too, which always helps. All in all definitely worth checking out at least once.
google avatar

Qype User (RedRig…)

Yelp
Excellent value daily specials. Delicious food, Saigon Bia on bottle.
google avatar

Pietro D.

Yelp
So cheap, so good. Delicious curry for 4,95, and it comes in two minutes since placing the order.
