Han Teung Chiangmai

A wonderful introduction to Northern Thai cuisine. We ordered the khantoke, and it was excellent—beautifully presented and full of deep, comforting Lanna flavours. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, from the curries to the accompaniments, and everything paired perfectly with the sticky rice. I was curious about the famous ant dish, but honestly, I couldn’t really taste the ants themselves—nothing overpowering or strange at all. What stood out instead was how balanced and approachable the flavours were, even for someone trying this cuisine with fresh eyes. Add to that the warm atmosphere, local character, and the restaurant’s consistent Michelin recognition, and it’s easy to see why this place is so well regarded. A must-visit if you want an authentic khantoke experience in Chiang Mai.

We had an amazing experience here!! The food was top notch and we arrived 45 minutes before they closed and they still took care of us. The food was delicious and flavorful. The dishes were big enough to share and small enough to be able to order a few different items to try! It was a little difficult finding the place at night so follow the pics. You enter a parking lot and continue walking back to where the restaurant is on the left.

I was there with my family for the first time and we loved it a lot! The taste of Northern cuisine was on point. I also tried buffalo beef tarta and it tasted different and very interesting also full of herbs and I can tell that they know how to make it good. The pork cracklings were also unstoppable and addictive then we had to order more and more rice. The price is really reasonable for around 905 THB for 4 people.

Found this Michelin star restaurant on google map which comes with a high rating. Restaurant has many seatings valuable and serves local traditional Thai cuisine. Every dishes we ordered were good except for the tom yum chicken which is very salty.

The local food is the best! I ordered a small portion, but it was still a lot for one person. The atmosphere is very welcoming and homey. Around the restaurant, there are small local businesses you can check out. It’s also close to Baan Kang Wat. Getting there by Grab bike is very convenient. Overall, the food is absolutely delicious!

A Michelin Darling That Still Hits the Spot! Been here twice — last time was pre-COVID — and the place has leveled up. More tables now, indoors and out, but still keeps that local vibes. Plates are under THB100 (~US$3) and perfect for 1–2 people. Order to share so you can taste more — some dishes are seasonal. Come before lunch or dinner rush, or you’ll be bonding with the queue. Locals love this spot just as much as tourists do. Honestly, lots of local restaurants here in Chiangmai. You can hop around and try but for here Michelin-guided for a reason — affordable, delicious, and worth the wait.

The cover photo on Google Map can be somewhat misleading. It is not a restaurant with nice interior or atmosphere. Imagine it as a big street food vendor and that would actually be closer to the reality. That being said, it is authentic northern Thai food. There were a few dishes that were interesting to try, but nothing was outstanding. We have risen the standard since we arrive Chiangmai because every restaurant has been amazing, and this wasn’t one of them. Hygiene wasn’t terrible, but we could smell the toilet from time to time (we were seated outdoor, a short distance from the W.C.).

The food was good and flavorful. However, I didn’t enjoy the fried beef — it was a bit tough and hard to chew. Other than that, everything else was nice and worth trying
