Got take-out. Chicken Panang was inedible. Threw it away! Chicken Panang was drenched in grease. Even had a puddle on bottom of bowl. Zero coconut milk. Vegetables were mush. Hana’s chicken panang is a hard pass. Such a disappointment & $$ & I’m hungry.

The lighting doesn't do the photos justice, but it was amazing. Both presentation and taste were phenomenal. Loved the food and the atmosphere. A nice date location or a fun place for a get together amongst family. The prices were decent for a sushi based meal, came out to roughly $20/person.

Japanese restaurant run by Chinese. ATMOSPHERE: The music was the same 3 minutes on repeat for 1.5 hours...so annoying!!! The booths are solid plywood with no cushions which isn't great. FOOD: The Sushi all tasted kind of the same, we all thought the same. It was fine, but overall underwealming. The Sashimi was very good but the chefs had to look at the package to tell me the fish type. THE GOOD: The best thing is that they have some good value rolls on the menu. Overall, we won't be back. It was OK, but that's all

Google
Definitely a cut above the other sushi restaurants in the area from a quality perspective. You'd have to pay quite a bit more to get higher quality sashimi in Colorado Good miso soup too. The real sign of a good Japanese restaurant

After seeing the good reviews and because we are trying to sample all of the well-reviewed Japanese restaurants in the area, we got takeout from this place one recent evening. I ordered the deluxe sushi sashimi combo and was disappointed. The fish was just fresh enough, but only barely, the slicing and presentation of the sashimi and sushi was not very good, and the sashimi actually had a small portion of fish tail in one piece, which isn’t acceptable at all. The included sushi and dragon roll were all barely average as well. For the nearly $40 entree price before tax and tip, it left a lot to be desired. I also got some fried chicken and it was either actually calamari or was marinated in a way as to make the meat’s texture and color look different than any chicken I’ve ever seen. The miso soup was above average, at least. We have discussed trying again but this time, dining in. When I picked up the order, the restaurant itself was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal, so maybe takeout just isn’t their thing? All in all, though, we were pretty disappointed in our first experience.

I have searched Malaysian and Singaporean Laksa place such for a long time, maybe 20+ years. We finally found this place and gave it to try their laksa noodle soup. I ordered laksa with rice noodles. It had a curry flavor. The presentation looked awesome and the taste was nice. The restaurant atmosphere was a kind of family restaurant : everyone can enjoy and relaxed at the same time. Great place to recommend to friends and family!!

Google
This place was packed, even on a week day. They had 1 table that was “floor” style seating for reservations only it seems. The sushi was phenomenal. But the service was just okay. Miso soup comes out to start, delicious and the perfect amount of saltiness to start the meal. We ordered the ahi poke appetizer and it came out in this cool margarita glass. The sauce it was swimming in was super tasty, a sweet soy flavor. I can’t even tell you what rolls we ordered. Everything tasted amazing!! We also ordered edamame and it came in a small bowl, not enough to share. Overall, loved the ambiance, they need more servers to help with the dinner rush. We’d go back when we visit again.

Google
Prompt & polite service. I agree with some of the other reviewers that service does feel a bit rushed. Hubby & I stopped during early dinner time - just wanted a light snack to share since we'd eaten a massive late breakfast. They automatically provided us miso soups while we perused the menu - soup was OK. Ordered: ▪︎ Large hot sake - good, we got a 2nd one. ▪︎ Chicken laksa rice noodle - this is huge & very filling, be hungry 😅. I was surprised to see this on a Japanese restaurant menu bec the last time we'd eaten it was in Singapore.. the waitress said the owner or chef was Malaysian so they had added it to the menu. It was OK but we both agreed wouldn't order it again. ▪︎ 1 of the special rolls: salmon asparagus crunch & spicy mayo - I couldn't taste the salmon at all 😕 (not worth $11 if you can't even taste the fresh fish) altho enjoyed the crunchiness from the asparagus & crunch. Really wanted to love this place but the food was overall "OK" = 3 stars..

Yelp
I recently had another fantastic Japanese dining experience here! The staff is always excellent and friendly. They offer a wide array of fresh fish options, allowing you to order by the piece or enjoy a complete dinner. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Hana Japanese Bistro has been recommended by friends as an interesting place to try out in the Superior area. I've paid Hana two visits at the time of this review, once on a once on a Wednesday and on a Saturday- both around dinner time of 6-7pm. Hana Japanese Bistro is located in a small shopping plaza and surrounded with a variety of other restaurants and small shops. Parking may be tight at times, but usually you should be able to find parking - even on busier days where you have to park a bit further and walk to the restaurant. Service at the restaurant is fast, you usually will get your food within 10 minutes after ordering. This is both on slow and fast days of service, and also despite the number of other patrons in the restaurant. I tried a couple of options offered, from stir fry, rolls, and soupy noodles, which I'll review down below: Beef Yakisoba ($18): I would say this Yakisoba offered by Hana was more in the saltier side than I would have liked. Though the texture and spread of different ingredients in the stir fry was good, the flavor was lacking in dimension other than salty soy sauce. Shrimp Laksa ($18): A pretty solid bowl of noodles! The best part of this entree is the broth, it is very rich and hearty - You can taste the coconut and seafood flavor, and both blend pretty well together. The best description I got is that it tastes like a creamier Tom Yum, more of a Tom Kha. I got the udon noodle option and the broth clings to the noodles well. Though the flavor is excellent, the portion isn't really worth it in respect to the price. As after enjoying this bowl of noodles, I was definitely hungry for more stuff. Spicy Tuna Roll ($5): A pretty standard sushi roll, nothing too surprise. But it is usually hard to differentiate an outstanding sushi roll other than dissecting the roll and just tasting the fish quality. I would say on average you'll probably spend $16 - $30 for a meal here if you are feeling especially hungry. It does lean a bit more on the expensive side in terms of Japanese cuisine in the Superior area, but there are a good amount of options to try and so far the quality seems good. I would revisit to try the other options!

Yelp
Finding a restaurant for a large party can be difficult, but this Japanese restaurant had a LARGE ROUND TABLE that seats up to 15, which I admired. The timing couldn't have been better for us as there wasn't a wait on a Sunday evening. We ordered many items to share, including MISO, A LA CARTE SUSHI and ROLLS, UDON, SUSHI DINNERS, Specialty Rolls, and SHRIMP and VEGETABLE TEMPURA. None of the food stood out for me, but if I had to choose one, it would be Tempura. Service was good as they catered every meal without any errors. For the most part, I enjoyed the company with my family. The price was reasonable as the total due was less than my anticipation. I was holding my breath because I thought this outing was going to do some real damage to my wallet.

Yelp
Hana is such a clean and peaceful restaurant to enjoy lunch or dinner. We've been here multiple times and have been greeted with a smile always. Service is a big deal to me and these folks do a great job! The sushi and dishes are all really awesome too. The fish has great taste and doesn't freak me out like some cheaper (possibly grocery store) sushi places do. And the prices are great! Compared to a lot of other sushi restaurants I think they have good deals imo. We got a sushi for two platter and it was $41. Another cool thing I want to mention is their seating area by the front entrance. I don't remember the exact name or term for it but it's a table that's seats 8 maybe 10?... Seiza? I think. It's where you sit on the floor instead of a chair. Super cool they have that!

Yelp
Still our favorite even though it's been a year since my last review. The sushi is fresh and interesting and the service is always amazing. We like the big booths to sit in and the sushi is beautifully presented. It's also the most reason I priced sushi we've found in the area. Thanks for a consistently wonderful experience!

Yelp
My husband and I really wanted to like Hana because we heard that they had great udon, but we were a bit disappointed. I ordered the tofu teriyaki dinner and some rolls. The sushi was the best part of the meal. Fresh, great quality, delicious. The actually dinner though was okay. Online, it says the teriyaki dinners come with soup, salad, and rice. I got a huge jug of soup, but I don't know if by salad they meant bed of greens because there was no salad and no rice. All of the tofu was on vegetables. I was quite sad that my meal didn't include everything their menu claimed to include. My husband ordered the tempura veggie udon and veggie yaki-udon (for lunch tomorrow). Neither of the udon meals lived up to the hype, unfortunately. The taste wasn't authentic, the flavor was just off, and they probably overloaded it with salt to "enhance" the taste but that backfired. His soups were also supposed to come with a salad, but we didn't get that either coke to think of it. If the salad and rice don't come with the meal or they changed how they plate things, I wish they'd update their online menu to reflect those changes so that expectations are set. Oh well.

Yelp
The service here was very very slow, we were a large party & the waiter pretty much messed up everyone's order. The food had no flavor , my wine was hot & not good. I simply had a terrible experience at this establishment, the 1 star is for the great presentation of the sushi rolls!
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
Not great. A general rule of thumb for sushi is if it tastes or smells "fishy" it's best not to eat it. Sashimi should be firm and have a fresh and mild odor and not taste "fishy". If sushi smells or tastes "fishy" that usually means it's not close to fresh and/or wasn't handled correctly. The sushi I got for a to-go order looked ok but unfortunately the flavor was "fishy". My order was correct and ready on time - but I won't be ordering from here again.

Yelp
My fiancé and I were craving sushi and we stumbled upon this place. Loved the ambiance of the place the service was good and attentive. The gyoza were good had a nice crispy outer layer and a lot of filling inside. The only thing that we were confused about was the dot of red hot sauce it tasted like franks red hot sauce wasn't sure why it would be serviced with gyoza. The sushi was good nothing great but if you're craving sushi this is the place to go to satisfy it. The one let down we had since we've had it at other places was the toro it wasn't bad but it wasn't good it melted in our mouths, but didn't taste like anything. The noodles were good we were expecting it to be pan fried but they were more like steamed in a little bit of broth. Overall, we would come back again for the sushi and gyoza and maybe try out another entree.

Yelp
For what it is, fresh, casual sushi - 5 stars. My friends live in town and go there often. Service was great, we got waters and soup right away. They also kept filling our waters. The Tokyo roll was really good, something a little different. All the other rolls were great too. Tasted fresh. And served in a cute boat!! They did forget one appetizer but we ended up not needing it and they took it off the bill no problem.

Yelp
Hana Sushi is great! Servers so nice , love sharing a booth table with the family! Their food is great and keeps me coming back for more!!! I always Love going there!!

Yelp
Really like Hana. The beef negamaki is amazing, shrimp tempura is great, and the sushi options are fresh and carefully prepared. Good price, great food.

Yelp
Super yummy! Super satisfying! Across the board I'd say I had a great experience. Friendly staff, tasty food, and great ambiance. I had the vegetable teriyaki. Came with a miso soup and a nice cucumber salad. I was super impressed by the portion size of veggies I got. All on a sizzling hot plate. Yay! Really enjoyed my time and feel super satisfied with my experience! While I didn't try the sushi, everything I saw being delivered to tables looked great. I recommend this place for the solo diner, the date night, family gatherings, and anyone looking for a sushi throw down! Great vibes all around. Thanks!

Yelp
Best sushi in the area. The environment is very welcoming and casual. Service is friendly. This is a usual spot for my husband and I. We love sushi and this place is amazing!! Very recommended!

Yelp
Uni was hands down the worst I've had in 30 years. Absolutely horrible. Rest of the sushi was good. If the Uni wasn't so terrible to the point of inedible I'd recommend this place
google avatar

Valerie H.

Yelp
The sushi was subpar at best but the seafood Laksa is out of this world delicious! I have returned just for the laksa and plan to keep going back for the it alone, it's that good. The broth has an incredible complexity of flavor, noodles are chewy and perfect, and there is a generous amount of shrimp and fish balls in the soup.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The staff was great and the setting was fun and intimate. Highly recommend it. Try the warm Sake, so good!

Yelp
Family owned. Great service. Attentive people. We generally stayed with the rolls and the sashimi. Between that and tea and the ginger palate cleansers, we were very satisfied and happy. You can ask for the fresh wasabi and they'll give you a small plate of that. I generally don't like things with cream cheese, so don't ask me about those. I do wish the fish slices on the rolls were a bit thicker... but am not complaining. This might be about as good as Colorado can offer! Really wonderful ambience. Cool place to eat and talk.
google avatar

Agar K.

Yelp
We are regulars to this place. The people who work there are super nice and friendly, creating a great family atmosphere. Good vibes. It's probably the best sushi place in the area. Sashimi is always fresh. They also have some great Thai/Malaysia dishes. Our favorites: - Pang gang chicken - Laksa noodle - Baked mussels - Blackened sesame tuna Love this place!
google avatar

Michelle J.

Yelp
We were a bit disappointed with this restaurant. While the service was good, the sushi was average at best. The rolls are basic (no creativity) and it was funny that they don't even cut them properly. The rolls were cut unevenly so actually they look really funny on the plate - sort of like avant-garde art. My husband had the teriyaki and the vegetables and meat were good, but the sauce was super sweet. We tend to be sushi snobs, and with all the good reviews we expected something a little special. There are better places in Denver and around the Boulder area to come back again.

Steven T.

Yelp
Oh wow, it is easy to spend some money here, I am always delighted, no matter what the tab.

Karina L.

Yelp
Great food and customer service! Ambiance was calm. Highly recommend. We got the calamari, spicy tuna, and a few other rolls. We felt like the sushi rolls were bit smaller than other places but we actually like because it lets us try multiple rolls. 10/10 super great place. Cant wait to eat here again.
google avatar

Zachary R.

Yelp
Terrible unforgivable service. I ordered two appetizers, and when they came out one of them was some thing I did not order, but I didn't complain and we ate them because it took so long to get them... The server never came back to take our sushi order or give us drink refills. We didn't see anyone again for 40 minutes so we just left. Won't be going back there.

Heather D.

Yelp
It was good food. Not very organized as far as service The staff were friendly We sat outside was nice

Ramani K.

Yelp
A great place for you & your next sushi dinner place. Exceptional food, service & atmosphere. My wife loves the curry laksa, roti Chanai & I love the Jeff roll, spicy salmon sushi & their tempura dishes. Chef Eric is great with the creative dishes he cooks up with a big crowd.

Diana P.

Yelp
The fish was amazingly fresh for not on the coast . Best miso soup I have had in the United States. The entire meal wash excellent and my son and I really enjoyed our dinner. The service was top notch.

SasquatchJerky _.

Yelp
Good sushi but I might've gotten glutened here because I was told the miso soup was gluten free but my stomach wasn't feeling well after and I usually avoid miso soup in restaurants but who knows. I do not like wasabi. I would go as far as saying I hate it but their fresh wasabi was so amazing I will order it from now on. I'm so glad our waiter encouraged me to give it a shot.

Yelp
Our go to place for East county sushi. We are never disappointed. If we don't stay there to eat, we take it to go if it's too busy. Lovely owners and wait staff. Always a pleasure! A small bit of outdoor seating if nice weather.

Yelp
If you're in Boulder and looking for good food do take this detour here. The food here shocked me in its deliciousness. I'll be honest I did not have high expectations coming in here due to it being in this part of Colorado, but it did not disappoint. My only disappointment is that I cannot return. San Diego, where I was visiting from, may have more Japanese but quantity is certainly not quality. This is a gem. Some folks said some things about the food which didn't match up with experience so it's possible an inconsistency exists/there human/staff callouts. With that said luckily I came when it was their usual. The teriyaki was the best I've had in a while. It was so fresh and did not taste (or look) like the Americanized fast food version (thick sweet sauce, fried) most of us think of (so if you do want that you'll be so disappointed). This was grilled sautéed with lots of veggies and a light yummmmy sauce. The sushi was fresh and delicious - my reference of fresh seafood is living in a coastal city that value fresh seafood nearly all my life and another coastal city that doesn't so this was better! I had tuna and yellowtail sushi. I also had shumai which was good, but not the star of the show(relative). On the way out I noticed they have an area where patrons can read about their personal story and view all their awards and press articles. I'm going say I wasn't surprise at the notoriety. So glad I stumbled upon this place!

Yelp
Hands down our favorite sushi anywhere around the 0027! Clean and fast and really good sushi. The menu is simpler than most sushi restaurants. Having lived in Japan for five years, I appreciate a more authentic sushi spot. Hana is perfect!

Ching Ching C.

Yelp
Was in town for a business trip and had a sushi craving! After some extensive research and evaluation of options, we opted to stop in at Hana for dinner. I can honestly say, it was so good, we went twice! Our group had a multitude of taste buds so we tried a bunch of things on the menu and my primary focus was the sashimi. Not only was the fish fresh, but they even had Toro one day and Blue Fin another! There wasn't a single thing that we didn't enjoy. I will say this is a great restaurant for those who love sashimi and nigiri but they also have some awesome cooked dishes such as hamachi kama, sukiyaki, and the must-have soft shell crab. Also - the service! The service was the best service we received in the area in the two weeks we were in town. They even remembered us our second time in, which was so sweet! They were timely, attentive, and so accommodating. This was our favorite place we dined at in the Lafayette and Louisville area. This will definitely go onto our list as a must-have when we come back in the future!

Joe M.

Yelp
What a terrific meal. Tried the Hana roll under the house specials and it was amazing. Super tasty and filling. Also, tried the softshell crab and snow crab rolls. Off the charts. The owner makes sure everything looks like a piece of artwork. I would have taken a picture but was too hungry and didn't have time for the pics. Enjoy HJB like I did.

Mona Q.

Yelp
Time and again, this charming restaurant has served up beautiful, delicious sushi. We have been in multiple times now, and each time, I can let a sigh out to relax as the staff greet guests with a warm bowl of miso. Once I bring the flavorful broth to my mouth, it is all about enjoying the meal, and the stressors of the day melt away. The house salad is crisp and delicious. I love the pickled vegetables in the salad alongside the fresh ones, and the dressing is flavorful. Fish is fresh and nicely cut. For as busy they are, the chefs quickly put out dishes and trays. Always a lovely spot, polite and prompt service, delicious food.

Yelp
After being a long-time Boulder County resident (17 years, late 70's to late 90's), I have certainly experienced the lack of quality asian restaurants in Boulder-Louisville. Imagine my pleasant surprise to see that a Japanese restaurant in Louisville, of all places, had a 4+ star rating! People, this is not good Japanese food. In my opinion, if a Japanese restaurant can't make a good "bento" combination plate, it probably can't do much else. My shrimp tempura was definitely not hand battered, and for the first time in my life, the chicken didn't taste like chicken. Even the obligatory California roll that came with the bento combination was sub-standard. While I don't expect the sushi or sashimi to be 5-star, they were 3 stars at best. Not to be a sushi/sashimi/poke snob, but after growing up in Hawaii and living on the California coast (15 years), I do have an appreciation for good raw fish. Hana was not in that category.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
My favorite sushi in Boulder County! Incredibly fresh and all staff are warm, welcoming and helpful. Generous portions too! Bravo!
google avatar

Veronique C.

Yelp
I am so glad to have such a great Japanese Bistro in my town. Service is friendly, the food is fresh and delicious, and prices reasonable. Where else in Louisville can you find a cocktail for $6 (regular price, not happy hour!). The sushi selection is huge, and starting my dinner with two pieces of Yellowtail sushi for just under $5 was perfect. The Teriyaki chicken is served on a hot plate and was one of the best I've had. To end the meal, we tried a selection of their desserts: sesame balls (small, not too sweet served warm), tempura banana, tempura green tea ice cream (huge, definitively to share), tempura cheesecake (surprisingly yummy even for someone like me who usually does not like cheesecake.) I just love this place!

Yelp
We carried out from here two nights while back in Colorado and each experience was great! Easy to order the phone or online and available shortly after. I got a few rolls each time and a seaweed salad and everything was fresh, flavorful and most important, CHEAP. Hana definitely had the best value compared to other sushi restaurants in the area.
google avatar

Sebastian U.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I visited Hana Japenese Bistro traveling from Los Angeles. Now, we've patronized many sushi places near our home and we were excited to see what Colorado would offer in this department. Needless to say, it was an excellent experience. We sat with John, he took great care of us and the only thing we would change is if the restaurant could be located closer to us. Would highly recommend it!

Best Japanese around freshest sushi you'll ever have a highly recommend eating here You won't be sorry

Yelp
Food is acceptable but services is bad. I order sushi it took 30 mins. After that I ordered Sashimi, it took me another 30 mins.

Wilson C.

Yelp
excellent sushi, fresh wasabi was great. staff very friendly and knew the menu. good prices on the food. the Uni was great, they even had sushi rolls gluten free as well as gluten free soy sauce. coming back next month. meet the owner, he is very nice.
google avatar

Lori W.

Yelp
Owners and staff are so friendly. Miso soup was awesome and they gave it to us on the house. We had to sit at the bar it was pretty crowded and that was fine. We ordered three rolls and a salmon sashimi. The spicy tuna roll was very salty. Honestly the soy sauce was too but I didn't even use that on the roll. I could not eat it just way to salty. My husband got the Philadelphia roll and he said that was good. The salmon sashimi was excellent. Very flavorful and melt in your mouth. The tuna and avocado roll was fine but nothing special. They also gave us a squid salad to try which I would not have ordered but it was very good. I would order that again. Overall a good choice.

Yelp
A nice place for date night. There were many sushi options, but we ended up ordering the Sushi for Two dinner set along with the fried chicken appetizer. The food was fresh and tasty. Our server recommended the strawberry sake and it was delicious! It was a bit pricey, but you can expect that when going out for sushi. I would've been eager to try more from their sushi menu if it wasn't so expensive. They were very busy, but we made a reservation and had no issues when we got there. Will be visiting again.

Danny L.

Yelp
Very excellent sushi and they really take care of me here. I have experienced patience as I figure out what to order and the staff contributes with recommendations.

Yelp
A nice Japanese restaurant with a broad selection of dishes and prompt, responsive service. I recently ate dinner here and was delighted with the place. As soon as we sat down, bowls of hot miso soup were served. This was particularly welcome as it was a cold winter evening. We ordered sushi for dinner, including two vegetarian rolls, some salmon, yellow tail and crab. Everything was excellent. The place itself is clean and nicely sized with plenty of seating. The owners clearly take pride in their business. I highly recommend Hana and will be back.
google avatar

Bry Z.

Yelp
Food was terrible as was the service. Shumai was pure mush and the rolls were falling apart and cut really unevenly. We ordered 5 rolls and only one tasted decent. They bought everyone miso soup, even people seated after us but didn't bring any to us even though we specifically ordered it. This place used to be good but it was really disappointing spending $120 on that meal.

Nelly M.

Yelp
Great, fresh sushi! It is hard to find a place that has fish that taste fresh but this is great! I like the atmosphere and the service is great. I highly recommend stopping here if you get a chance!

Kenny M.

Yelp
This my go to Japanese and sushi place when I am in town. Honestly, top 3 I have eaten at! Wonderful staff!

Yelp
What a great place! We hadn't found our sushi "jam" in the Boulder area, but tonight we found it! Great options and they take their sushi seriously - for instance we were going to order the toro sushi style and the waiter politely recommended that we should try it sashimi style to best experience the great taste of the fish. John, our waiter, has been there 10 years and was a delight to have as our guide. Thanks for a great experience - we'll be back often!!

Yelp
The staff was very friendly, owners are super kind, everything was tasteful and delightful. We ordered three rolls and an app and they were amazing. food came out quickly and had the house pomegranate sake to top things off. Overall, phenomenal experience. Will definitely be back soon
