Pioneering Bay Area Sushi Chef Ken Tominaga Dies at 61 | Eater SF

"Led for more than 30 years by pioneering sushi chef Ken Tominaga, Hana Japanese Restaurant earned a reputation for impeccable attention to detail and seasonal fish; I was saddened to learn that Tominaga died earlier this week after a short battle with cancer. His family described him as self-motivated and passionate about Japanese flavor, and he loved cooking, surfing, golfing, and being a father. As his family grows, they have continued the business, and the restaurant will be run by his wife Emiko and their sons Keita and Kousuke, preserving his mastery of traditional Japanese cooking for the Bay Area community and beyond." - Lauren Saria

This is my favourite place to come in Sarnia .. I usually come solo , but with friends it’s great aswell . I love having a booth; it’s cozy and shut off from everyone . They’re always polite and friendly . No complaints . Take out food is always huge portions ! I love that they never bother me . I sit cross legged and happily stuff my face with no judgements :-)

food was good and we had a good time until the very end of our experience when we were getting ready to pay a very rude waitress came up to us to tell us we shouldn’t order so much food if we’re not eating and then was trying to get us to pay to take home our food that wasn’t able to be eaten ( 3 kabobs and some rice) saying it goes in garbage now if I don’t pay, I would completely understand if we were wasting large amount of food but that’s not who we are and I think 3 kabobs and some rice in reasonable to not finish and mind you this was already picked at and eaten from not just leaving a whole entree. My understanding was this is a buffet style establishment and didn’t appreciate being looked down upon and yelled at infront of other customers because we couldn’t finish 3 kabobs and some rice, this shouldn’t be operating as a buffet style resturuant if you cannot bear to lose the scraps that people can’t eat and then go on to yell at the customer about it. We won’t be returning unless this is looked into and handle properly.

In general, if you have a big group of friends want to have a sushi party. Hana is one of the good recommendations in Sarnia.

The food was ok but compared to decent quality sushi, is nothing special. It could be fresher. The big redeeming factor is the amount of options they have. The waitress was very quick to bring the bill without asking if we were finished. Food takes some time to bring out but that’s to be expected.

Very grimy place. Tiles are falling off. Everything is sticky and filthy. The menu is sticky. Glasses are sticky. Table surface is sticky. Sushi served in a very unappetizing manner and sticks together. Not sure how this restaurant passed the health code inspection. And this place is all you can eat. Would give this place a -5 star.

Hanna Japanese Restaurant in Sarnia is a good spot to experience different types of Japanese cuisine. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, with a buffet option that provides unlimited food at fixed prices. This makes it a convenient choice for those looking to try a bit of everything. However, it's worth noting that most of the non-vegetarian options are raw, which might be challenging if you're not a fan of raw meat. Despite this, the restaurant does a great job with the quality and presentation of the dishes. The atmosphere at Hanna Japanese Restaurant is warm and inviting, with a cozy interior that makes you feel at home. The staff are friendly and attentive, always ready to help with recommendations or navigating the menu. One of the highlights is the ample parking space, making it easy to find a spot without any hassle. The dining areas are spacious and well-maintained, providing a comfortable setting for your meal. In summary, Hanna Japanese Restaurant in Sarnia is a decent place to explore Japanese cuisine dishes. The friendly staff, good parking facilities, and pleasant dining areas add to the overall experience.

I quite loved this place, it was pretty though a tiny bit dim on the lighting side, but you get used to it with the atmosphere and very nice music. The food is an all you can eat buffet and there's non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks if that tickles your fancy.

Wow have we missed this place! Seems they haven't missed a step...might even be better now after being closed for so long. Service was fast and friendly, food came fast and was hot and fresh also and everything tasted amazing. Dining area coul use an update/makeover...
