Hana Moon Japanese restaurant

I ordered their lunch special, 3 rolls for $13.99 (I believe), which is a great deal. Service was quick and our waitress was very attentive. I got the Philadelphia roll, California and Spicy Tuna. I thought the rolls were just okay. I’d be interested to try some of their other foods, but probably would pass on their sushi if I went back.

What a lovely place. Modern atmosphere with jazzy music. All waitresses have iPad to take your order in. Food comes relatively fast. I personally judge a place that serves sushi by the way they prepare their raw fish so all new places being tested with the order of rainbow roll. They did not fail. Exquisite cut great texture and flavor. Everything is fresh and lobster roll is interesting with mango sauce. If I had to be picky I’d say seaweed should be served on the bed of cucumber slices but it is fresh and have crunch to it with sweet taste; also some oil was used to taste I’m imagining it’s sesame oil. The menu is huge with wide variety of dishes like poke, sashimi, hibachi and more. Surprise as a dessert at the end melted my heart. Thank you. Overall A + highly recommend!!

This is not Japanese ramen — it’s more like Chinese-style noodle soup. I even ordered an extra egg, but what I got were two soy-braised eggs, not soft-boiled ramen eggs. The noodles and soup had no flavor at all. No wonder the staff asked if I wanted some chili oil… It was my own mistake to order ramen at a place that also serves sashimi and other Japanese dishes. Honestly, this was worse than American-style ramen.

Great experience every time! The staff are always friendly and provide very quick service. The food is always amazing. The Volcano Salad for the appetizer is a must! I love all of their rolls with Mango, it gives a nice sweet touch. They bring out a perfect little dessert at the end as well. All of their Sake is great too!

Our granddaughter wanted to again go to this unbelievable small but delicious sushi place. Plenty of parking in the small strip mall off Dan Jose. Selection is great and if you are not sure what to order leave it up to the great staff to place a quality and delicious order for you. We have been here at least 10 times and will be back 10+ more. Pop in, we will see you then.

Absolutely love this restaurant and the staff. They cook some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life! We moved out of Florida awhile ago and I miss this restaurant so much. When I rate food I’m eating I always will say “this is really good but it’s not quite Hana Moon good” LOL. 10 out of 10 stars everytime!

This was a great date night! We faced a mix up with our table that we weren't even aware of and the owner made it a point to notify us and go above and beyond the entire night! The sushi was amazing and fresh, the hibachi was on point and the atmosphere was perfect inviting! 10/10, we will be back!!!

It's a nice place recommended by our Airbnb host. It was easy to park, and we were sat quickly. The service was good even though we ordered the tofu appetizer, and our waitress had forgotten it; thank goodness we asked for it again; it was delicious!! The boat special with the moon special roll and chef's choice was excellent; all the sushi seemed fresh and was prepared perfectly. The miso soup was delicious, and the ginger salad was nice (my wife was happy, but I'm not a ginger fan). The only thing we would recommend is finding something less toxic-smelling to clean the tables with. It made me and my wife nauseous (maybe use less?) If we were in town, we would come back for sure!!

The Sweet Mango Roll is my favorite! It's a must try! My son started working here as a part time dish washer at 16 years old. He's 21 now, going to college and still working part time here as a server. The owner/manager treats the staff like family so they enjoy working here and are fiercely loyal to the place. Several of his friends work here now too! This family atmosphere shows in their level of service and the quality of their food. Treat your workers right and they'll do absolutely the best work for you!

Went online to find a good sushi spot close by. Hana moon popped up and man what a treat! Lets go thru the ratings: Service 5/5: seated quickly and the waitress was very quick to take our drink and app order. We ordered the Hana moon rice cake which was delicious. The server made recommendations on her personal favorite rolls and the most popular within the restaurant. The food came out so fast and they served the sushi in a beautiful boat. Ambiance / vibe: 4/5: the location is in a strip mall and has ample parking. This place is family friendly, fast service and great food. The restaurant seemed very clean and the lighting was dim which made for a nice dinner mood. Food / value: 5/5: we ordered a clear soup, an appetizer, a child's hibachi plate (which was huge) and 4 speciality rolls. The total came to $90 and we left with a to go box filled with food. All of the food was delicious and good quality fish. My son's hibachi was very well seasoned and a generous portion. I loved this place so much that I shared photos in my family chat and I'm excited to return. My two favorite rolls were the Jacksonville roll and the Kristen roll.

Shoutout to our local community heroes! The staff is amazing and very efficient. They work together like a well trained orchestra. They happily great you as soon as you enter and whisk you into a table setting that will best accommodate your needs. Drinks come out quickly. The menu has a lot of variety. Appetizers. Hibachi, steak, chicken, seafood, veggies, rice, noodles, sashimi, and sushi both cooked and raw. Lots of different drink options cold and hot, including drinks like teas, saki, sodas, etc. They even have the cool sodas with the marble in the glass bottle. My kids always loved those. The sushi chefs are highly skilled and the presentation is stunning. It tastes authentic, well-balanced, and memorable. The hibachi entrees are portioned generously and I had leftovers, because I happily enjoyed all of my sushi first. The clear soup was tasty and refreshing. The salad was crunchy and blessed with yummy ginger dressing. The atmosphere is calm and easy to enjoy a meal with friends and family. The waitress was so kind and quick to help me clean up part of my soup after I spilled it all over my lap. I was so glad that it had cooled off some before it happened. I hope to sample one of the many varieties of saki next time as I saw several that I knew were really good. The hibachi entrees are made in the kitchen and brought out to the table. I say this to clarify that this is not the big communal setting with the chef doing his floor show. It's nice to know that this venue is a serves the same style of food but without the show, because it is easier to talk through a business meeting and go over plans on at a regular table. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised to see that this venue offers lunch specials every day of the week! Lunch Special: (Mon----Sat 11AM---2:30PM）（Sunday 12pm --3:00pm）!! Excellent value!! I can only imagine how big the dinner servings are! I would definitely need to chose sushi or hibachi and not both! I was glad to try both today since it was my first visit here. Well worth having to take home yummy leftovers!!

Located in a strip plaza you may not expect a lot from this restaurant, however it is some of the best sushi I've had in forever! The waitress was polite and helpful. There was a kind waiter walking around ensuring my water stayed full. The inside is cute and provides a comfortable atmosphere! I had the Jacksonville roll which was amazing! The Sweet Naruto roll was also so delicious, being that it's wrapped in cucumber and not rice, it is such an interesting experience and one I definitely recommend trying! I can't wait to come back and try another roll!

Came here Friday evening around 6pm. We were seated right away. Very quaint and romantic kinda place. Our server took our orders quickly and our sushi came out fast as well. I gave this place a 3star because the sushi was just okay. We each got 2 specialty rolls and 2 appetizers. Both sushi rolls were lacking flavor or some type of seasoning. The sushi didn't taste bad but it was very plain in flavor. Appetizers were good and at the end they gave a free small dessert which was nice. After reading so many previous reviews my expectations for fantastic tasting sushi felt let down a bit. Everything else about this restaurant was great but we came for the sushi.

I can't believe I've eaten here so many times and I have not reviewed this place It's in a little strip mall and dinner time you need reservations because it's small and fills up fast I have had their sushi, sashimi, and Ramen and it was all fabulous. Everything is fresh and starts quickly. There's not a bad thing that I've had here. You can't go wrong with anything you get.

We had a party of 5 for dinner at 8:30 pm on Saturday, 8/31/24. There was about a 15-20 minute wait. Once we were seated, our waitress, Sherry, was super efficient and our food came out very fast. I tried the Miso Soup and the Clear Soup. I liked the miso soup better. I also had a Fried Chicken Gyoza, which was what you'd expect. The salad was drenched in ginger dressing, but it was good! I split a Hana Moon Boat ($64.95) with my husband. It comes with soup, salad, 10 pieces of sushi, 15 pieces of sashimi, and 2 chef special rolls. For our rolls, we chose Hot Girl Roll and Hana Moon Roll. The Hot Girl Roll was spicy with the seeds of the jalapeños, but it was good! I wish the Hana Moon Roll had more flavor, but it was pretty bland. I would get a different roll next time. The sashimi and sushi were what tasted like good quality. You can't beat the price of the Hana Moon Boat. Such a good deal, and the presentation was lovely too! I recommend!

Hana Moon was really good! Probably the best sushi I've had in Jax so far. The sushi tasted really good, it was flavorful and it tasted fresh! The servers were really nice, pointed out suggestions on the menu based on what we wanted, and were very attentive to us the whole time. They even gave us a complimentary dessert at the end! The restaurant itself was very busy for a Wednesday night and the ambiance was nice and simple!

I highly recommend trying the Hana Moon roll! It's a salmon and tuna roll with avocado, cucumber and sauces that make it taste fresh and flavorful. It's my favorite sushi roll I've tried! The colorful Naruto roll is also good if you'd like a lighter option with cucumber instead of rice. The interior was very pretty, slightly dim lighting perfect for a date night. Our sushi came pretty quick and the service was friendly. Loved it!!

Small location; it can be a little tight, but they are definitely busy. Doesn't stop anyone. The workers are on the move and friendly. Hibachi (chicken and steak) and Sushi was a hit for us. Will come back!

It's been too long since I've been to hana moon! Went with a group of 6 tonight, it was popping on a thursday, had to wait approx 15 mins for a table, but it was worth it. Staff was attentive & all our food came out promptly & was super fresh. The salmon sashimi was amazing- huge plump buttery pieces. The polar bear roll with scallops & krab salad was great and I can't wait to order it again. Love this small business and p.s. their prices are a smidge cheaper than other 5 star sushi places in town.

This place has some of the best sushi in Mandarin. The quality of their food is some of the best I have had here in Jacksonville. The Ramen bowls super! I recommend the pork belly ramen.

The food was so fresh and amazing and it came out very quick. We also got a hibachi plate and the chicken katsu lunch plate. The katsu was super crunchy and delicious. I have to give major props to the server she was on point and was running the show like a boss. Very cute little spot, would 100% be back.

Ordered a Hana moon roll and a side of lo mein for pickup! It was quick and tasty! While picking up It looked pretty cool inside, seemed very intimate. Overall would highly recommend!

I absolutely love this place due to its amazing food and its lovely people. Started with edamame which is always a great starter. I had Chirashi as I was craving fish and I was blown away in the creativity for the dish and lots of variety of the freshest fish. With this dish I had a ginger salad and miso soup which come with this selection. My friend had a Polar Bear roll and a Monster roll. Two of our favorites. Pics show ingredients. Both of these rolls are as good as it gets. Back to the people... they are so special... they live hospitality in such a lovely way. I promise you... if you love sushi... you'll love Hanna Moon... Great job Hanna Moon!

Why did I wait so long for go here?! This place is so good. The service is top notch - super quick and super nice. You can tell the staff is a team. The food was so fresh and amazing. The decor is cute, a bit congested, but overall comfortable. My favorite roll is the rainbow roll.

Great lunch time and dinner place for fresh sushi. It can quickly get crowded, so make sure you arrive before the dinner rush.

I can't believe I have not reviewed this place for as many times as I've been here. We probably do take out half of the time and eat in half the time. It's not a big place so it's always packed - including lunch - even in the middle of the week. Service is fast and anything I've ever ordered is always on point. Quality, taste, and just overall experience is top notch. It's no surprise they are always busy.

I have read many reviews and was pleased on reviews for Hanna Moon. So we had to go try it. It is clean. Restaurant personnel were on it and very pleasant. We had my 22 year old with us. He picked the Octopus and crab crunch roll. The Octopus was alittle tough ( which is to be expected) but I am telling you it was great. We also ordered the monster crunch ( the bomb) and the dragon roll very good. We ordered the Hibachi Shrimp and one chicken did not disappoint! They brought my grandson a petite strawberry mousse cake and he wanted more so it must be good. Service was fast. We were seated quickly and can't wait to go back.

This is the first time we have eaten at this restaurant. The ambience was really first rate. The service was good, and the food was generally very good as well. The proportions were a bit skimpy, however. We will return.

Pretty much the only place I will eat sushi. And if you want Lo Mein it's the best outside of NY Friendly staff, great service. Worth the wait as the place is quite small so make a res.

Busy, small and bustling, every table was occupied. The sushi was very fresh. We ordered edamame for an appetizer and some rolls for our meal. There is a huge boat full of sushi and they serve which we would like to return and try. The service was fast and friendly.

We had a desire for sushi and wanted to find a place we hadn't tried before. We were over in the Town Center area but also had some errands to run over near San Jose Blvd. Off to Yelp to find something new. Our search brought us to Hana Moon. So we headed over that way and found it. From the street, it is a very non-assuming store front. It is with several other small businesses and could be missed. In we went. Inside, the restaurant is not very big. Probably a dozen tables or so. It was just a little after 5pm so it wasn't that crowded, but they did have a good business going. The inside is not going to win any awards for decorating. We ordered a couple of appetizers and those came out quickly. We then ordered our sushi and enjoyed our appetizers. The sushi looked good and tasted very fresh. The hot sake was also a good compliment to our meal. My scoring: Atmosphere - 3 Service - 5 Food - 4/5 Presentation - 4 I do like this place. The food was good and service was great. This is a solid choice for some great sushi.

We go there often for sushi. The waits remember the orders without writing them down. No matter what we order or how late we get there the food and service is always amazing!!!

I give it a 5 because my daughter rated it a 10. We have been on the search for fresh tasting sushi. This was it. We went in at lunch so it wasn't to crowded staff was friendly. Sushi was so filling. This will be our go to when we visit Jacksonville. That cake sample was delicious. Gyoza was crunchy and tasty!

Cherie our server was on point. The restaurant is small but the ambiance is nice. The sauce the salmon was served with was excellent. Size of the lunch box was just right with a good cut of salmon. I am a happy diner.

I was meeting up with one of my friend here for lunch before a study session. The place itself is easy to find, and there are plenty of parking spots. When you walk inside, you are welcome right away. The place has a nice atmosphere and it's about medium size. I ordered calamari, black dragon roll, and miso ramen. The calamari was more on the crunchy side. Not as tender as most, but still decent. The black dragon roll was fresh and good. The miso ramen was a little on the saltier side for me (the broth), but everything else was simply delicious! The noodles were the perfect texture, and the charsu just melts in your mouth! The owner was super sweet. When she asked how everything was, I said the broth was salty for me, and she said next time to let her know and she will make it less salty for me and to my taste preference. Lovely place. I would recommend you trying this place out when you have a chance. I want to come back again and try their other food options on the menu.

Weve been here almost once a week for the past couple of months. Everything we've tried is amazing and the food comes out FAST! The service is great and you can't beat the free dessert at the end of each meal. My family loves it and we are grateful for finding this little gem in the Mandarin area.

I had the sushi lunch special and it was excellent overall. I did not know that each roll was only six pieces, but they tasted great. The rice ratio was perfect and every bite gave fulfilling flavor. I got a spicy tuna and yellowtail jalapeño roll. I also got the salmon lover's roll, which was one of the best tasting sushi rolls I've had. I had no complaints about the atmosphere or service.

Traveled in to Jacksonville from out of town and was recommended this spot. The sushi was very good I ordered the monster and spicy angel rolls, my server was very attentive and staff were pleasant. I would definitely recommend this spot for good sushi.

We needed to go somewhere in the area and Hana Moon had great reviews. I really enjoyed it. It was fresh and very good. They gave us a complimentary dessert at the end. The people I went with got shrimp lo mien and chicken lo mien and they liked it a lot too. I'd definitely return.

First timers here! This is the best sushi we have had in over two years. (The last place being Key West, FL) The service was great, & the sushi was fresh! It was 2:30 on Saturday, normally a slow time for restaurants, & this place was packed! We had the rice cakes for an appetizer, which was basically sushi on top of packed rice, and that was a great starter. We had the Kristen Roll & Hanna Moon Roll, and they were very filling, non chewy, and delicious!

Absolutely the best sushi we have tried locally. Service was fast, friendly and on point. We had the Hana Moon roll because someone else said how great it was in a review. Was my favorite from our meal! We also had the Hot girl roll and super dynamite both were delicious. Several tables ordered the boats and they were impressive looking. We may try one on our next visit.

While it's not fancy the food is superb, price is just right too good lunch specials and bento boxes.

Was a lovely experience. This very small restaurant gave an amazing offering that excited the taste buds. Only negative was they are super busy and we were finished with our main meal and appetizers before our sushi even came out. Also wish there were more drinks offered on the drink menu. If you have not been please check it out. Fair pricing for what you get , and flavor was over the top.

So happy! What really caught my attention is that I could order Grilled Squid (grilled whole squid with chef special sauce). Uh, wut? I had to have it. I love squid! I also wanted to get a roll but that was a tough decision because everything sounded wonderful. Ultimately, I got the Cowboy Roll (spicy tuna, asparagus, avocado, seared beef, masago, and scallion with special yuzu sauce), curious by the ingredients and venturing off my beaten path of sushi staples. I ordered them from a delivery app and received them in the amount of time estimated. Everything smelled amazing. Trying a piece of the squid with was swimming in the special sauce I was sent to heaven. The sauce was delicious but I felt it was way too much for the portion size. I would liken it to thick soy sauce/fish sauce that coated each bite in a layer of salty sweetness. The sushi roll surpassed my expectations. I felt like I was eating a steak dinner rolled up in a blanket of rice and veggies. Honestly, I was a little worried about eating the seared beef as it still had a very raw quality to it, but I've eaten steak tartare several times and remembered how good it was. These snacks were beyond impressive and I will definitely try some more, perhaps even stop in.

We went back in tonight and it was still delicious. We got the house friend rice along with our usual rolls, ginger salad, miso soup, cheese wontons it did not disappoint. Loving the consistency of the service and quality of the food.

I order from this place frequently. I typically go through door dash and everytime my food arrives it is steaming hot! They use good quality chicken in their hibachi and their cucumber salad is refreshing and tasty. Highly recommend if you're craving hibachi!

Good choice of a variety of rolls. I had the spicy Cajun Roll and it was good but seemed really small for the price, but inflation shrinks everything except the price. I'll probably give them another try when I win the lottery

At first glance it seems like a hole in the wall, but I assure you this is a diamond in the rough. Absolutely amazing food, our server was very sweet and had a good understanding o the food, recommended us amazing sushi rolls and was so kind the whole time. The only issue it the seating itself, the building is such a tiny place but if you're patient you'll get amazing food. I hope one day they can upgrade to a larger building cause they're an amazing spot! (We had the spring roll app., Jacksonville roll, dynamite roll, Ramen plus shrimp tempura, and steal teriyaki meal, it was 85$ before tip)

- Really wonderful sushi - Really good value for lunch - Really good sushi rolls So I met a friend here and it came with his recommendation and a ton of good Yelp reviews. Guess what? They weren't wrong. For starters, service was OVER THE TOP good. We were greeted enthusiastically, drinks came quickly and questions answered. The lunch menu was amazing, not only did they have the standard two roll and three roll special, but they also had Bento boxes, teppanyaki specials, and even more. I mean there were four pages or more of lunch specials. Here is my run down of the food: Clear Soup - better than expected Salad - crisp, fresh, ginger dressing Crab Salad - ooh, so GOOD. Squid Salad - even BETTER, very flavorful. I would be happy with this as my meal. Dynamite Roll - Holy Gotham City Batman yummy. Philadelphia Roll - another good one Sweet Potato Roll - southern goodness, sushi style Bento Sushi Box - not recommended, the sushi looked anemic and it was unappetizing. The food tasted fine, but you can see my picture below. Next time I am going for the rolls, they looked fabulous. Parking is plentiful, service is Uber good and the lunch specials are OFF THE CHAIN.
