Hana World Market

This place is always a pit stop on our way back to Killeen from Austin. We did not actually eat at the food court this time but got Mochinut donuts for dessert. My favorite is always the funnel cake flavor...

Hana World is an Asian grocery store. It's decently sized and has lots of variety in their products to buy, but what is best about it is the restaurants it has inside. From birria Ramen to mochi donuts, you don't want to miss the food court.

Hana World Market is a hidden gem. They’ve got everything – snacks, fresh produce, and all kinds of goodies you didn’t know you needed. Prices are fair, but honestly, I get lost in there and end up buying way more than I planned. My only issue? I always walk out hungry because the food court smells amazing!

CAUTION!!! The cashiers enter their own phone number for the rewards if you say you don’t have a rewards account. I’m pretty sure the woman I saw is a manager because I’ve seen here there for years and tells many of the Hispanic employees what needs to be done around the store. I caught her entering her phone number on the screen when I was about to pay after I told her I didn’t have a rewards account. She then quickly turned around and removed it and acted like she didn’t do anything I told her I saw the 512 number and she printed out my receipt and said “no phone number. Check your receipt” I said well yeah I saw you remove it after I called you out on it She just kept smiling and repeating “have a good day”

Great place for international food. Yes more Asian than anything else, but fresh fish, meat and veggies here too. A little rough around the edges when it comes to decor or finish - but many things found here you will not find anywhere else. Good prices and friendly staff too.

I always look forward to shopping here. The market has an incredible and diverse selection of products, making it a fantastic place to find unique items and ingredients. I'm so grateful to have such a great market nearby. The food court is another highlight, offering various delicious options, including Mochinut, which I love! The atmosphere is always lively and welcoming, making it a pleasure to visit every time.

This place is such a ripoff. They purposely put no price tag or labels on your fruits so they can charge you however they want. Got charged for $5 for 5 persimmons. Really??? Look at the photo below, they’re nothing but just regular persimmons. I’ve never bought such expensive persimmons in my life. The way they run the business shows how unethical they are. They are greedy and disgusting like the smell of their restroom.

I came to enjoy the food in the food court just inside the inner doors of the market. They usually have 3-4 vendors inside with a variety of Asian cuisine. Today I enjoyed Korean salad with raw fish. I paid $10 (cash only or take your ticket into the grocery to pay credit/debit) for this amazing dish! Fresh and delicious served with kimchi cabbage and potatoes, also with a side of chopped sardines as a garnish. If she asks if you want hot sauce, be sure to ask for it on the side, I didn’t and she doused my beautiful fish in the sauce. Good but way too much. The grocery store is also always an adventure.

I Love Natto! Hana Mkt has many Natto Brands. All are the cheapest I have seen anywhere. I pay about $2.50 for a 3 pack, and I buy 10 at a time. So I get 1 months worth. They also give you money back when you spend to one of their limits. It's just a couple blocks south of I-35 on Parmer rd. I no longer have to Drive to a Leander H Mart! DM

They say "any port in a storm," and for me, Hana World is that port. If I'm in the middle of a recipe and realize I've run out of a speciality ingredient, Hana World is my closest and best choice for getting it. However, it's not a place I particularly enjoy going. It gives off an air of neglect from the moment you walk in, and that feeling gets worse the further into the store you go. All the floors and fixtures seem to have a patina of grime over them. The folks who stock the shelves are friendly, but they always seem a bit beaten down. And the produce section is often a treasure hunt, the treasure being "anything that isn't moldy or a day or two shy of growing it." I agree with another reviewer that Hana World is good for shelf stable goods. I've also had success with their made-in-store Korean proteins and sides. Anything else? Good luck.

I have been introduced to some of my favorite food and snacks because I bought it on a whim here. They have a lot of fresh produce, meat/seafood and a wide variety of snacks, drinks and sauces. The food court and cafe are a welcoming touch too. Best part is they have a rewards program if you give them your number for future discounts. I appreciate the size of the market, it's less overwhelming than HMart with a great selection of goods still.

I like shopping at this place but they sold me unsealed, rotten H Mart brand kimchi. I bought the largest jar so I wasted about $20. Get your kimchi somewhere else as this has to be some sort of health violation.

While they don't have as large of a selection as hmart, they have all the essentials and more all at lower prices compared to hmart. Parts of their produce are fresher than that of hmart's ie. young radish 열무, young Napa cabbage. I actually like it more because it's not as much of a large maze and crowded as hmart. Past reviewers mentioned a fish smell which they've done a really good job of getting rid of because today there was no smell! If you are a dessert person they have all the desserts available that are usually sold out at hmart like ALL the flavors of mochi ice cream, boba ice cream and taiyaki ice cream.

Medium sized convenient Asian grocery with a variety of Asian staples like kimchi, sriracha, etc. I would say it's better for shelf stable goods than their fruits/veggies in terms of quality and pricing. You can also find fun but harder to find things like pandan flavoring and pure tamarind paste! In case you were hunting for the Huy Fong sriracha they had a few bottles, but they were marked up to $17. There's also a couple of restaurants in a small food court you can access inside: mochi nut, Hana yoree, ramen del barrio. Logistics: Large shared parking lot so no parallel parking needed. There's also a boba place in the same strip if you need your fix!

This is my favorite Asian supermarket. It's far away from where I live, but I always get some groceries here if I go to the Walnut Creek greenbelt to hike. What I like about Hana is that it's never crowded and has everything I need (condiments, sauces, frozen seafood, soondubu kit, lotus roots, and sambal oelek). Their fresh produce looks good, although I only bought mushrooms and onions there last time. Their food court has mochinut, ramen del barrio, and the Korean restaurant. Hana isn't as bustling as HMart or 99 Ranch, but honestly I prefer that.

Food Court at Hana World Market. Now includes 4 different food bars including a fancy doughnut joint, but we still go for the excellent Korean food. Bus your own table if you buy Korean, otherwise you're allowed to be a slob. You paid for it. Those doughnuts ain't cheap. This place gets hella busy around lunchtime especially on weekends. Kinda noisy. Don't dress up.

Be careful what you are looking for at the Frozen section. I bought multiple eggrolls wrapper, and when I'm ready to use it, I can tell they are old, and I can't seal it well. I went back to the store and mentioned the eggrolls wrapper and just laughing.

I came to this store today for the ump-tenth time. I come here when in the area to get my Asian goods when I am unable to make it to H-Mart. I make a lot of Asian food at home, much of which I learned how to make when living in Singapore and Japan. Many of the recipes that I make call for ingredients that I can not find at a local grocers. I appreciate the spices this location affords but am not a fan of the fish selection as most of the items available in the wet market section of this grocery are frozen and not fresh.

Be careful of buying frozen food. It's overdue and you try to tell them and they ignore and no refund or exchange.

The place is OK. A place to pick up some asian groceries. In their togo section try the Jabchae...their recipe is good.

Nice place to pick up your Asian supplies. Best place to buy rice in bulk. MT Supermarket on Lamar and H Mart do not have a good selection of rice in bulk. The only downside is that no one knows where anything is located. So, if you want something, you better know where it is or spend considerable time browsing the shelves.

Every time I stop by there , I always see something gross. I tried to call health department multiple times but I can not get a hold of anyone . It's serious health problem for communities. Asian in general are easy going and would not speak up because of the culture . However, it's affecting our community health in general in promoting health and preventing illness. A lot of things covers w molds , fungal visually and maybe can only be see microscopically. I like to stop by to get some groceries but the store owner and workers do not care much about people health . Bad and unethical

This is our go to for groceries since it's in our hood and so convenient. It's high time I review too. Sorry it has taken me so long. It's nicely convenient and location is perfect for us because we live near. It's rather large and has everything we need pretty much. More korean goods than Chinese. If I need Chinese groceries I go to 99 Ranch. But Hana world still has some essentials. Their sliced meat is actually pretty good and fresh. Priced better than newer and cleaner Hmart. I have never bought seafood here and sometimes this place doesn't smell clean either that or overly clean with cleaners but I know they try their best. Their kimchee is one of the best in town. Their veggies are pretty good. Not priced as cheap as 99 Ranch but it suffices. Their frozen goods are ample sometimes not so fresh because it's been in there but it has everything I need. But lately it has been ok. The owners especially the father is the nicest guy in the world. They are kind and helpful. I like their cash back program. Have gotten many $5 back and quickly. Much quicker than Hmart. They have a small cafeteria area with 3 restaurants now. The korean one has been there since they opened. They have yummy affordable food. We love taking out from there now for our inlaws. Can still get a big bowl of noodles for under $10. Their kimbap and freshly made to go food inside the grocery is something we like a lot especially the kimbap. Always fresh and cheap. Yummy and perfect for picnics too. Heard their new restaurant is really good too in the cafeteria area. Wanna go try. Thanks for being our local asian grocers. Keep up the good work!

As a black male, I feel that I was totally stereotyped and profiled while patronizing this establishment. After paying for my goods, I stepped to the front of an empty cashier station. I was putting my goods into my backpack when some older asshole manager came and stood next to me. He said something in his native dialect then, in English, he asked the cashier if she had checked me out. She nodded yes and that asshole didn't say shit to me . . . . I'm sorry, excuse me, kiss my ass . . . nothing. What if that asshole had called the cops on me, a paying customer? What if the cops would have immediately stereotyped, profiled me and summarily acted in a condemnatory manner based on those assumptions? Fuck this store, I will NEVER shop here again . . . . . . EVEEERRRRRRRRR!!!!

So there's item that when I was checking out, I was trying to return it because I change my mind and they make me take it back to the original place it was. Lazy cashier.

This is a cool place to visit if you like diversity in food. My family loves Asian food so my sister and I took our niece and nephew there for a field trip. We let them choose different goodies to try. There is SO MUCH to choose! We walked every aisle and looked at everything and chose delicacies to put in our basket. There is a punch card you can sign up for too. The people there were nice and there is also a little restaurant on site. We will try that another time.

I like to cook asian food sometimes and this place is a must to get some supplies and ingredients. Some things are pricey, but there aren't that many other options to shop for items that give food an authentic flavor. You can buy rice in bulk and save a lot of money by getting good Jasmine rice that would cost a lot more at Central Market or Whole Foods.

This store used to be so nice. Walked in and it is so dirty and so run down looking. Not much variety as it used to be. All of produce was old. It is a shame

This market reminds me of home in a way, must be the smell. It is definitely smaller than most of the other asian markets in the area but it does have a bit of dry foods/snacks that no other asian markets have. The small restaurants looks very appealing but I have not tried so this review is on the market alone and not at the eatery. Smaller selection on meats and seafood, I didn't see anything special in that segment. I love seeing the banchan being prepared by the aunties and they look so good but a bit more expensive. Vegetables I was quite disappointed, they were all wilted and sad looking. The fruits seems ripe and rather large which is a plus! I will come back to try the food and buy some banchan next time, hopefully the next visit will be better than my first! Side note, they do have a reward system but it is a piece of paper that needs to be filled out which the cashier has. 3 stars for now~

For the size of this market (on the smaller side compared to places like Hmart or Lotte), I think they actually carry a lot of the Asian essentials. I was able to find all the Asian specific market ingredients here easily. There's also lots of parking which is nice and staff was friendly. I just maybe would go to a bigger Asian supermarket if you're looking for something not as common!

Okay. I know it's a market but honestly their food court is a pretty sweet place for Korean food. I've been going here for years with my family to dine in and order take out. We LOVE IT. The portions are bigger than most other Korean restaurants at a relatively low price. You get tons of side dishes to come with which is a big win for Kimchi lovers. My favorites would definitely be their Spicy Beef Soup, Gamjatang, and their Galbi. They mainly take cash, if you pay by card you would have to go inside the market check out then come back to show them your payment. Slight inconvenience but nothing too big. Aside from that, also be sure to listen for your order number. Sometimes the cashiers look really scary and start calling out your numbers louder if you're distracted (guilty ). And if you order any of the soups togo, be sure to check the plastic containers for any leakage as it might be too hot. Market is pretty good. They have a good snacks and preserved food section. Their fresh produce aisle is alright, condition varies. Seafood is alright too, mainly come to buy cheap live crawfish.

Friendly and the variety was great. Going back. The mocha was sold out so I asked for the strawberry n added almonds

I still recommend Hana's Market to people, but with a heavy heart I have to agree that it's seen better days in the past. The seafood/butchery section is lacking, and the produce is hit-and-miss when it comes to freshness. However, I have to give kudos where they are due. Their 'dry goods' section is excellent, and has brands of rice that I can't find anywhere else. They have a good selection of kitchen implements/tea sets. And most importantly for me, they carry some of the best avocados I've seen in Austin. These are giants that have some of the best, most consistent avocado flesh I've seen. Worth coming just for that! Just keep your expectations in check for the rest of the store, and plan to visit Hmart or MT for most of your other needs.

This place has all old stock. I bought a pack of crabs which were $6.99 pound. They named them fresh and goo, but after opening them, they started to smell. I thought it might go after cleaning, but still smelled horrible while cookin. Never gonna buy meat again from this store.

3.5 We stopped in here to check it out. While not as large as H Mart, there were a lot of nice things to get here including sweet potato noodles and sweet buns. They also carried the large container of Tamari sauce which I hadn't been able to find at HEB. The store is medium sized and parking was pretty easy. I'd come back for sure.

Not as large and fancy as HMart; but closer to my home. They had everything I needed. They also have a rewards program, so make sure to get an application BEFORE you checkout. Bring your own bags as well or you'll be leaving with a box like I did lol. They also have cooked food to order/grab that's been sitting‍ and a selection of houseware. Not many people working and when you ask for help you get weird looks and shoulder shrugs. But it's cool, if you have google and Pinterest on your phone

This place is so underrated. Great location and so convenient. They have everything I need and so much more! - Food court as you walk in. Yoree has the best and most authentic Korean food. And their prices are super reasonable. Whenever I miss my mom's cooking, I go here and pick up a few dishes. I can't stress just how good it is. - Things! BBQ grill, butane, chopsticks, stools, slippers, it's a Asian mini mart. - Fresh cooked banchan. A good selection - Seafood has a good variety. And thank you for pulling through on having crawfish!!! - Meat section is okay.....But still dependable when I need something - Produce - has a good selection of items. They always have fresh perilla leaves!

Once H Mart has opened up, this place really doesn't compete in my opinion. But it is closer to my house, this is a much smaller store but they have a good variety of items. They aren't the cleanest store but it's not a deal breaker for me. I am not sure if I would buy any of their fresh seafood or meat, but I do like their selection of ramen and rice as well as their frozen foods section. I am addicted to korean rice cakes. They have a good selection of snacks and sauces. They have some food court type of restaurants here but I haven't tried them in awhile...the last place I went to is no longer there so I am not sure if the new places are good or not.

I did brought 8 randomly live crab from Hana World Market. When I brought them home, I steamed them with boiled water for 20 mins to make sure it's fully cooked, and I found out that is different than before, all the crab's meat are green, with a really bad smell, so I went to the store to inform them that crab might not good, maybe because of parasites. I took photos and brought in 2 cooked crabs to the store which is opened with green meat, but the manager kept telling me it's normal and the differences between male crab and female crab, and the manager ate the crabs... I know crab's meat should be white, isn't it? by the way so manager is so mean.

This review is about the grocery store and not the food court. We like coming here to pick up the staples we need to cook some Korean food or any Asian food. Recently, I came to get Hondashi which is a soup stock used in Japanese cooking. They have a selection of banchan (side dishes). I noticed they have some that was made in house and packaged side dishes from a factory. They seem to have what we need in here. I like to get some oats and grains for japgok bap or multi grain rice. I am not sure how the prices compare to MT Supermarket. I usually come here since this location is closer. We always get awesome service here. Full disclosure, you don't see many workers in the aisles so come to the register area to get some help. I'm the weirdo that walks around all the aisles until I find what I need. Yea ...I know not very time efficient, but it's cool to see the variety of items in here. It's also nice when the manager always recognizes us when we are checking out. Thank you Hana World Market.

This is an AWESOME Asian supermarket !! They have a lot of vegan food. I love this place sooo much !!

We love this place. In the summer we can get Maryland blue crabs live. We bout about 30 pounds and enjoyed them for days. They freeze well so save some for later. Next time i will take the family so everyone can have a look around

Sorry Hana world! But after the last disastrous shopping experience and moldy food. You don't deserve a 4 star rating anymore. If you shop here you probably know that there is no customer service and the person at the cashier register is just there to literally ring your items. Whether you bring your own bag or ask them nicely for a bag. They won't bag your things for you (which I don't have a problem with) but won't also help you either. I just saw a person in front of me trying to get everything in her bag but they just started serving the next customer so all the things gets mixed up and they give you the dirtiest look ever that you are not fast enough getting your stuff out. I was about to say something as she clearly needed some help! Then when it was my turn I literally just wanted to pay and leave but they won't let me I guess. I swiped my card, she was done scanning and just gives me a glare. I pointed out that Im waiting for her so I can sign. Still a glare. Repeat what I just said. Then she yells what do you mean you wait on me! Repeat again but more sternly to let her know that I won't let her talk to me that way! She the finally realized that she has to push a button on her side so the the payment can process. But the top of the iceberg was moldy food! How in the world is that even possible that they didn't store their food right. All the organic chestnuts bagged food snacks were moldy! I bought 4 and opened all of them! All green and nasty smelling although expiration date states until March 2018. So basically I bought bad moldy snacks! Can't wait for Hmart to open! Really watch out if you buy fresh produce or even dare buy meat here! Not always kept clean and fresh. If you don't want to end up having food poisoning I would just stay away from that part!

I came here because I was in search of Kaffir lime leaves. I was at another local Asian market who had everything I needed for my Thai cooking except this key ingredient. Luckily Hana World Market had two packages left of the Kaffir lime leaves in the frigerated section. I was happy that my husband had asked about the leaves since it was not located in the fresh fruits and veggies section. Now I have all my ingridents to make some good old homecooked Thai food. Cheers to 2019!

Small but popular food court. Saw a customer eating directly from a cooking pan. Market itself is Korean-oriented, and is the largest one in Austin with such focus - until H-Mart opens soon. But even then, I've found more Korean products on the shelves than in a typical H-Mart in Dallas. Good quality meats (beef and pork especially). Decent seafood. Good selection of household items. Great selection of noodles and snacks. Limited in produce and the baked products are imported, limited, and severely lacking. As far as aesthetics, the entire interior could use an upgrade.

Hana World Market is an Asian market that's just located at the wrong place at the wrong time. I used to live at that area, so I know that Asians are practically non-existent there. Some Asians live close to Lamar/Braker, but they have MT Market. No need for them to drive all the way to Hana World Market. Hana World Market is pitifully empty. The only thing that keeps them afloat is the food court with Yoree Korean. I used to come to Hana World Market to buy vegetables, but I soon stopped because I realized that the vegetables I bought were prone toward being rotten. No customers, so the vegetables grow old and start rotting at the fridge. The front of the store used to have a taiyaki stand, expensive Korean cosmetics, and women's undergarments. But they unfortunately moved away. Hana World has plenty of parking. The shopping center they are located at is huge. There aren't any excessively busy businesses at that shopping center even though there's a Starbucks and Snowy Village.

This market is amazing! It is smaller than I expected, however they have everything I could ever want. There is even a large food court to the side of the store. The food looked delicious so I'll definitely have to try that. There was an area where they had samples of Korean savory pancakes and it was so good! There's a large selection of fresh seafood as well. I wish there were more fruits to choose from, but they do have exotic fruits such as tamarind & dragon fruit. There's so many products here that you wouldn't find at the average grocery store. I love the variety and the freshness. Such a great market!

My nieces and i love coming here! Definitely recommend going. The kpop store inside is amazing.

We love this place! How many times have we come here to complete our weekly shopping, or to grab a bite at their awesome food court. There are a lot of different Asian supermarkets in Austin, and this one is not the largest, but we love it. There is a lot of Korean specialties here which is great! They have fresh kimbap on the weekend, and always have tons of house made kimchi available, plus the regular commercial variety. We live in Round Rock so driving in this is much closer and does not require us to tackle the hustle and bustle of North Lamar. The staff is super friendly and will remember you if you visit a few times, something lost in today's grocery stores. Between the delicious food options either precooked or takeout there is always something new to try, and who knows maybe you will stumble onto your new favorite thing!

Auntie at Austin: East coast family is visiting Austin family. We're blessed w/a second nephew :) I like their snack section - brings out the happy. Also the gigglies. Look at my pic. We laughed for minutes. Most of my time was spent gazing at the crackers and cookies. I heart carbs plus I'm a snackist. BroJ grabbed a box of individually-packaged Ace crackers. Old school buttery flaky yummy. Of course he got Koala's March chocolate-filled cookies. Fun nostalgic light outer crispy cookie snacks. Good Pocky selection. The bros also picked up a customary box of ramen noodles. That's what we do. This was a brief shopping trip since we just needed red pepper flakes but ended up impulse buying too lol. There's a mini indoor food court strip linked with the market. Curious enough to check out next time.

Check expiration date and stay away from premade korean food and side dishes. I used to go here all the time but recently I'm just having bad experiences repeatedly. The premade banchan (not the one made in Hana World Market but the ones they sell - which is located left of the banchans they made in Hana World Market) had mold several times (and you can't check the contents before buying because it has the cover around it). I've been staying away from those and I thought all was good - then I found mold on the red bean porridges, the one made in Hana World Market. The rice cake they sell also had an expiration date of May 22, 2021 (they were selling over two months past expiration). I really want to support Korean markets but I will most likely never return. Ill make my extra drive for Hmart. If for any reason I go here again, Ill stick strictly to ramen or tuna or whatever that doesn't have to be stored in controlled temperature (and Ill still check expiration date of everything I buy).

One of the earlier asian markets to have opened around Austin! Generally quiet, has an always changing food court that gets semi-busy during lunch hours. It's not as big as the surrounding competing chain asian marts but still offers a good wide selection of choices for food and gifts! The cashiers are always super nice. FYI, this place sells makgeolli, sake, and asian beers!

They have items marked two different prices and when I noticed they wrong you the higher price they would not give the lower price and said they will refund me. Then the Fish market cut the fish I wanted instead of making slices. The manger then ask me what's the difference. Does that even matter it was done wrong.. Made me buy the fish still even though it wasn't what I wanted.

We love dropping by here when we're in North Austin to get Asian groceries. It's very clean, not overly crowded, and you can have a delicious meal in their food court before/after you shop. They also seem to make a lot of their own Korean chups in-house, because we see the ladies prepping them all the time. Love it! One of our favorite sections to check out is their non-food/durable goods department. It's filled with so many fun and interesting knick-knacks. You can get cookware, houseware, personal items, etc. While they're a Korean grocery store, I like that they carry a lot of ingredients for other Asian countries too. It makes them a one-stop shop for us.

I went to pick up live blue crabs. They had quite a few of them. The market is nice. It has everything and more of what you would expect from an Asian market. The seafood seemed so fresh. The blue crab were absolutely delicious when I got them Home and cooked them. They also had frog legs, I haven't seen those in a while. So you can definitely find some exotic meats here. I will definitely be back in the future to shop.

Great market! They even have a food court with great choices. I had the Korean chicken soup to go, ttoekbokki, kimchi. There is also a Vietnamese pop up just inside the entrance that serves great iced coffee and the Strawberry Lychee Madness was AMAZING and perfect for the hot day. Then the market itself is perfect for your pantry needs. They even have banchan ready to go. Kimchi selection looked great and sliced meat for grill and hotpot were good on prices.

I was recently asked to beta test a recipe for a friend's cooking school and it involved Asian ingredients that were not available at my local grocery store. I had trouble locating at Hana, as well, but thankfully, the store manager cheerfully helped me locate it. The store is large and has thousands of products for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Filipino cooking. The store is clean and organized, although at times, it is still difficult to find things and many of the staff don't speak English and so finding things can be tricky. Still, I love a good adventure and exploring new flavors and cultures. I'd be happy to return.
