Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza Closes Its Clarendon Location | Eater DC

"Shuttered over the weekend, the eight-year-old Clarendon outpost at 3024 Wilson Boulevard is the latest casualty in Pete’s recent contraction: the local pizzeria that has been serving New Haven-style pies in D.C. for a decade has gone from four restaurants to just one, and an employee confirmed the closure but did not provide a reason." - Tierney Plumb

Ramen is by far my favorite Japanese restaurant. It’s a small place, but very warm and cozy—you can really feel how much care the owner puts into running it. The décor is filled with authentic Japanese touches, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re eating at home with family. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The food is excellent with so many choices. Their signature dishes are the different varieties of ramen, which are always delicious. But my personal favorite is their Saba Miso Bento Box—I highly recommend trying it if you visit. Besides bento, they also serve great appetizers, udon, rice bowl, curry, and other traditional Japanese dishes. And don’t skip dessert! They have wonderful Japanese sweets like dorayaki, taiyaki, matcha cheesecake. What I love most is the consistency. I’ve been coming here for almost three years, usually once or twice a month, and every meal has been just as tasty as the last. Never once have I been disappointed. If you’re looking for authentic, comforting Japanese food with a warm atmosphere, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

The best ramen I've ever had. This restaurant prepares their ramen in a traditional manner. Their vegetables are fresh and broth is flavorful without being overly salty. There are very few non-fried protein options on the menu. However, you can ask for non-fried tofu. Their seasoned egg is phenomenal! Their service is excellent and they move tables quickly. The prices are affordable and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The restaurant is located next to the Clarendon Metro stop. There is limited to no parking available so the restaurant is best accessed by foot or public transit.

I stopped by when it wasn’t too crowded, and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. I ordered the unagi, tonkotsu ramen with extra noodles, and miso salmon. The miso salmon was outstanding — perfectly cooked with a rich, savory flavor that really stood out. The unagi had a pleasant saltiness, with a soft, delicate texture that was very enjoyable. The star of the meal was the tonkotsu ramen. The broth was deeply flavorful and comforting, and the noodles had the perfect texture. It felt like a truly unique, well-crafted bowl of ramen. I’d definitely return for another meal here.

Hanabi Ramen is a solid spot for ramen lovers. The ramen was excellent—rich broth, great noodles, and well-balanced flavors. Their appetizers were good, though not particularly standout. I also liked their bento box items. The service was attentive and friendly, and while the seating area is relatively small, it adds to the cozy and casual atmosphere.

Walked from my hotel - Residence Inn by Marriott Courthouse. Small but cozy restaurant. The staff was extremely courteous. Which is typical of the Japanese culture. The furniture is pretty basic. Ordered some appetizers to start with... Spicy Edamame, Seaweed Salad and some fried chicken. The Spicy Ramen for the main course was finger licking good. My daughter ordered the Vegetarian Ramen which was good as well. Small restaurants like this serve up authentic or close to authentic food. Would definitely return back.

Among the food I tried, my favorites are salmon teriyaki bento, chicken karage, chicken karage don, seaweed salad, miso soup, and shrimp tempura. And all of their "don" rice menu are delicious. The restaurant has their signature sauce made from scratch which enhances the flavor. It is amazing. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of their tonkotsu ramen, seafood bento, and chasu fried rice. Service is good. It's a small restaurant with the great atmosphere to dine in alone or with friends. P.s. I have to add another great dish I recently had; yakisoba was amazing.

I have tried many many ramen places. In Korea, China, Singapore... many in US. But none of them beat their flavor! I have been visiting them years. And sometimes I really miss the flavor of their Tan Tan Myong. Man i dunno how they cook it. But its delicious...

I found this place yesterday and went back the next day, it was that good. My first visit I got the spicy miso ramen, this is an absolute winner. It has the perfect amount of spice, it’s not too hot. My second visit I got the curry udon with chicken katsu. Someone else described this as a warm hug or mom’s cooking…yes. Both of these are accurate in descriptions of the feeling it evokes when you eat it. The matcha cheesecake was also very good. Overall, best ramen I’ve had. 10/10 will come back. Would be especially good on a rainy day. 🍜
