"Eater Young Gun Dave Park’s acclaimed Korean restaurant, Hanbun, has officially closed. Chef Park, and co-owner Jennifer Tran, announced their plans to close in November. Reservations for their special coursed-out dinners were booked months in advance. Hanbun made a small suburban strip mall a destination. They are looking for a new location." - Daniel Gerzina

Google
Best Korean food in South OC, in a nice clean restaurant with family vibes. We come here for family meals every couple of months, and get takeout for office lunch as well. For under $20 you can get this incredible bento for lunch, which can't be beat on price or quality when a sandwich nearby is almost $20.

Google
A roomy square space, good food, fair price— Hits the spot and feels real nice, I’d say it’s worth a 4.5 stars!

Google
We found this place when looking for Korean barbecue. This, however, is not Korean barbecue. This is more Korean comfort food, not that I’m an expert. The restaurant is clean & modern in decor. The woman who appeared to be the owner was a beautiful hardworking Korean woman was answering phones, serving food, overseeing staff, cleaning & being a boss. We arrived on a weeknight, and it was bustling with people of all ages and ethnicities. Great experience & excellent food. We will be back!

OC Reviews

Google
One of very few Korean restaurants in Lake Forest. This review is for takeout only, the bossam pork takeout box was put together so nicely. The rose tteokboki was delicious and not spicy. The spicy beef soup was just ok.

Google
This place does not deserve a high rating at all based on the soup I ordered. The portion is tiny and the taste is not authentic. I didn’t get a chance to try other non-soup items. But if you want to go for soup, go somewhere else.

Google
Great place to get good Korean food. There is a lunch special which includes rice, soup, salad and side dishes. The environment was relaxing, food delicious and service was great. I have to say that the service here was rare in a good way, I don’t remember when was the last time I had someone come to check on my table 4 or 5 times, but it happened on our recent visit on a weekday around 12. When I simply turned around, our server ran over to ask if we wanted something. She would refill our side dishes anytime and that is something we’ve had to sometimes beg for at other nearby Korean food places. Love the variety in the combination boxes. While it is on the pricier side, you’re still getting good value considering how much you get. Only issue we had was the beef short rib while it had many pieces, several of the pieces were basically all fat, but most of it was good meat. Plenty of parking, not too busy, and hoping to make it back here soon.

Google
Good restaurant with authentic Korean food. The service was great, we really enjoyed our lunch!

Google
Nice atmosphere and food was great. They gave a lot of side dishes at the beginning which were great as well. My total for fried rice, Bibim Naengmyeon and possum came out to around 47$ and I thought that was a little expensive, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Yelp
The dosirak lunch is very tasty. Price is on the higher side but I think they lowered their price because I saw the pic price for spicy pork bento is 23.50 but I paid $17. Comes with soup, several banchan and fried shrimp, mandu and seaweed roll, and salad. Forgot to take picture because I was so hungry.

Yelp
It was not a full house in here but a decent number of tables filled and to-go orders happening. Immediately can tell it was short staffed as we were seated and a couple tables were waiting to have their orders taken. There was only one lady in front, who was kind but we had a bit of a language barrier if we didn't communicate in Korean. I wasn't able to place an order of kimbap because kitchen was too busy. Quite disappointed there. I ended up getting a kimchi fried rice with a request to get the egg cooked all the way, which was also disappointing as it was mediocre and the egg came out sunny side up. One of the banchan that was not the fishcake or kimchi tasted really weird but I'm forgetting which one it was. Sad to say, I would rather drive to Irvine to get better. I had a stomachache not long after eating this unfortunately

Yelp
We've been exploring the Lake Forest area more as they have a wide range of Asian food at a reasonable price you can't find around Mission Viejo. Hubby has a list of places to try and we made our way here to Hanbop. The menu boasts a wide range of categories from main entrees, special entrees, lunch specials, Korean street foods, Hanbop Rolls and side orders. Our first visit included the Mul Naengmyeon Combo with Kalbi, Padak and Egg Roll. The cold noodles were garnished with cucumbers, pickled radish, and hard boiled egg. They offer to cut the noodles and provide vinegar and mustard to season the broth if you choose. Super refreshing on a hot summer day and an exceptional pairing with the grilled kalbi. Hubby got the egg roll gimbap and padak as his meal. The padak is fried chicken seasoned with a sweet soy sauce and shredded green onions. The egg roll looks like an omelet with a cut of spam and pickled radish. Very simple meal and his go-to meal every visit. On our second visit, I gave their dolpan bibimbap a try since I was craving that crispy rice crust from their sizzling hot skillet. I chose the octopus as the protein, but I was pretty disappointed by the texture and flavor. The bibimbap was stacked with shredded carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, beansprouts and egg yolk. After mixing in the sauce and letting the rice sit, it was a little too greasy/oily for my preference and didn't get the scorched rice I was anticipating. As it gets cooler, I think I'll give their soondubu and galbitang a try. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and it always hits the spot. We ordered the Galbi & Tofu soup and the Galbi lunch special which is a great deal at $18.99 . You get Galbi, rolls, tempura, salad, rice, and soup. The restaurant is very clean and organized. The spot was okay. They checked on us twice. The Kimchi and potato salad were really good. Overall, it was a good experience with satisfying amount of food.

Yelp
Great Korean lunch for a great price! The bossam bento was so filling and came with so many authentic sides. I agree with the other reviews that the flavor isn't as punchy but rather a little sweeter, but I enjoyed this about the food. Considering the variety of all the side dishes in the bento, the courteous service, the hot tea I was served, and the clean interior, this place checks all the boxes for a great Korean lunch place.

Yelp
There aren't many Korean spots in South Orange County, but after today, HanBop just might become my go-to. HanBop had been on my list for a while... but they hooked me at "kimchi fried rice." (I'm a sucker for a delicious bowl of kimchi fried rice. It truly is a comfort food for me.) Store front - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=Bhy665P0eExZKH9SqamT_Q From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and promptly seated. I already knew what I wanted: spicy pork and, of course, that kimchi fried rice! The service was quick, and my food arrived within 15 minutes, hot and fresh. HanBop's menu offers great value, especially for lunch. With few Korean restaurants nearby, HanBop is a standout choice, and I'm excited to have found a new go-to spot for satisfying Korean comfort food. I arrived just before 2 p.m., and aside from a small group finishing their lunch, the place was nice and quiet. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the restaurant is well-lit, making it a comfortable spot for a casual lunch or dinner. I ordered the Spicy Pork Lunch Special ($17.50), which came with white rice, a light soup, salad, and a variety of banchan (side dishes). The spicy pork was tender, flavorful, and had just the right kick. For the price, the portion size was generous, and the assortment of sides made it a well-rounded meal. The rice and sunny side up egg were perfectly cooked, with a rich kimchi flavor that hit all the right notes. It's definitely something I'd come back for. It was also tasty! Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=dECLrV7J4zVUhRsQFiflyw HanBop is a hidden gem for Korean food lovers in South Orange County. Yelp
Good enough Korean food in an area lacking Korean cuisine. Good: The bossam was solid, small is definitely more than enough for one person, maybe even two small eaters. Bad: The kimchi fried rice was not too good and under-seasoned. The banchan was average, the kimchi tasted a little strange, marinated celery was definitely a no-go. Felt bad because there was only one front of house staff and the restaurant was moderately busy for a Wednesday night so it was a little chaotic.

Yelp
While visiting my mom and looking for a place to eat I found this place. They had steamed egg which was the criteria we were working with for a Korean place so it was exciting! Hanbop is a good sized restaurant the likes of which I would find in K-Town in LA so already I was certain this was going to be good. Easy menu, comfort foods and street food takes all really decently priced. Deciding to be adventurous we decided to share a Rose Ddeok-Boki and an Egg Kimbap and have our own steamed eggs. Starting with the familiar, the steamed egg was a listed as a side dish and though small don't mistake that this was tiny in flavor. Seasoned well, little salty, very eggy but with that satisfying taste of a savory dish twice its size. This is always a favorite and didn't disappoint in a new restaurant. The Rose Ddeok-bokki is a dish I've always wanted to try but was always nervous about. Honestly I wish I had tried it sooner but I'm so glad we tried it today. Sweet, savory, and mild thickness in broth (sauce?) made for a delectable base both comforting and addicting. The rice cakes were cooked perfectly through and while not a favorite for my mom in the past was something she now could get behind, and the fish cakes was her first introduction and one she'll be happy to have more of in the future. This was a perfect comfort food to share dish. Lastly the Egg Kimbap (Egg roll on the menu), normally comes with spam, however our server was kind enough to take the spam out since mom's a vegetarian. This had everything a good Kimbap should, rice and crunchy veg and the soft sweet egg that tasted like a cold thin version of our steamed egg dishes. Happily would order this again and I would recommend for any vegetarians wanting to try to remember to just ask if they can take the spam out. The Banchan was perhaps the only meh part of the entire meal, the kimchi was lacking something most others I've had, had. Not sure what it was but it was just missing something. And the potato salad was bland in comparison to the dishes we had, and lacked corn but that's a personal favorite for me. That said my mom loved the pickled celery and jalapeño, spicy but that crunchy celery freshness was an addicting starter for her and she liked the blandness of the potato salad as it served as a palate cleanser between bites. Still, the service was outstanding, prompt and kind and ready to answer questions or accommodate and the restaurant was clean, modern and spaced out (a personal preference) with comfortable seating. And parking is a breeze with how many spaces there are. Happily I would come back again!

Yelp
We came here on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty busy - always a good sign! Service was also fast, friendly, and attentive. We tried the Padak, Bossam, and Kimchi Jjigae, plus a few extra helpings of banchan. Everything was pretty good! The padak had great flavor, texture, and mouthfeel. Probably my favorite. Very crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And the garnish was actually really good too when eaten with the meat - yum! The kimchi jjigae was yummy too - not as spicy and more salty than I've tried in the past, but it went great with rice. I love seeing it still boiling as it was placed on the table. Another very good dish, but I'll probably try other dishes next time. The bossam was a close second for me. The meat alone was delicious and super easy to eat. But on top of the greens and radish? Absolutely wonderful. I'd get that again! I'll definitely be coming back!

Paula H.

Yelp
Visited a new place that my friend recommended! There was plenty of parking and lots of space inside. They were quick to seat us. I loved that they gave us both cool water and warm water off the bat. The kimchi fried rice was so yummy! I loved the kimchi in it. Perfect balance of everything. We also got the Mul Naengmyeon Combo: cold noodles and bossam. It was my first time trying bossam and I loved it! I wish we got more cabbage to match the amount of pork, but still good. The cold noodles were really refreshing and a great balance to the kimchi fried rice. Overall, a great experience and can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Wow I just tied HanBop Korean Cuisine and it is SO Delicious . I ordered the lunch Salmon box that comes with a small salad, a fried shrimp, dumpling and a friend roll. Also two pieces of a sunshine roll, white rice and pickled garlic . Also some amazing soup. They server the best kimchi I've ever had. I highly recommend HanBop and can't wait to bring my family here. 5 starts hand down! It's also a very cute place and very clean. Amazing customer service

Claudia S.

Yelp
Came here for lunch solo and ordered the lunch combo box. The food and side dishes were flavorful and well portioned. Sadly, the service wasn't that great. I don't know if they were short staffed or not, either way I was able to order my food but any follow up afterwards was not apparent. I had to wave down one of the waitresses to get water refilled and then again for my receipt. Several customers had to go up to the register to order their food and at one point an older gentleman became irritate for having to wait about 20 mins to place an order. His party was there before me. I noticed that they also do online app orders and with only two staff members it seemed to have overwhelmed them. It's nice to see a Korean restaurant in Lake Forest bustling but they need more help and better service.

Yelp
Rare find! Bomb Korean food south of Irvine? That's basically unheard of... until we tried this place. AYCE Korean food hasn't been our thing for a while so places like these really gets us excited! Reminds me of a mom & pop version of BCD tofu house. First of all, this place is spotless. I love how they put this place together, very clean and minimalist. Decent sized dining area ranging from booths to smaller tables for two. Very easy to navigate menu. Per usual, I ordered way too much for two people. Banchan was great (fish cake, pickled celery & onions, kimchi, and potato salad). The beef bulgogi was served in a sizzling plate (so good!) it came with rice on the side. We ordered kimchi fried rice (choice of pork or spam) this was okay. The beef hanbop roll was delicious. We also enjoyed their padak (popcorn chicken) which came with a side of broth (so good!) This is your spot for Korean street food that won't break the bank. Ramen, ddeok-bokki, padak (popcorn chicken), mandu, and hanbop rolls from $9 to $15. We'll slowly work our way down the list and try them all. Since our first time here, we've recommended this to so many family and friends that have come to eat here and gave the same feedback. Excellent service, amazing food, very very reasonable pricing. I hope they stay. See you here!

Yvonne L.

Yelp
I usually go to Tang 190 (they give u 4 legit bones for the same price) but came here out of convenience tonight for take out since they're closer to us. They decide to give us leftover kbbq rib bone inside the galbi tang along with one actual semi-bone. Not sure if it's cause my husband is white but REALLY? On top of that, the kbbq bone didn't even have meat on it. It looks like they took someone leftover kbbq bone and cooked it in the soup. Highly don't recommend this place, not sure how review is high. Maybe the other dishes are better but definitely don't even think about getting the galbi tang here.

Joshua T.

Yelp
We were looking for Korean food and ended up ordering take out from here and couldn't have been happier. Even the packaging showed care. The Grab N Go was perfect for sharing (2 people), with lots of meat. The Galbeejjim isn't cheap, but the meat perfectly fell off the bone and tasted great. The Kimchee Jeon and Steamed Egg were great inexpensive side additions. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for Korean in the area.

Marissa L.

Yelp
I've gotten take out from here a couple times and they always get the order right. I really like the packaging they use. This place is actually really nice and clean looking inside. I want to sit down and eat here one day. For my most recent order I got the dumpling soup. It stayed hot and came with banchan. The dumplings were delicious and filled with beef, noodles and greens. The broth was clear and savory. I really liked the dumpling wrap as it was soft and thin. The banchan was a great addition. I especially loved the fishcakes and kimchi. I love this place and I hope to eat inside the restaurant next time instead of getting take out.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Food is great here. Everything that I tried from the tofu soup to the lunch specials were good. The presentation for the lunch special is unbeatable. It comes in a beautiful bento box. The servers here have always been polite. They are really crowded these days. Good for them! Probably because it's so good. HAPPY KALBIING!

Michael Y.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised in our experience at this local Korean restaurant in Lake Forest. The service stood out to us, the staff came to our table multiple times to check how we were doing, and one time I had just turned my head and the lady came over quickly to ask if we needed something, that is outstanding service! It was not busy, but not crowded, just right, when we came in on a Thursday at around 12pm. The lunch menu is priced slightly less than the regular menu so you should go for that if you want to have Korean BBQ for lunch, though we also tried the salmon which was also excellent. The seating is comfortable, not loud at all, in fact, it's the opposite of loud. There was some quiet Korean music playing in the background, and it added to the peaceful feel of the restaurant. Food was excellent, it's not the best Korean BBQ we've had but still good. And the lunch set comes with a large variety of items that is actually fun to try all of the different things, including the fried shrimp, dumpling, fried noodles, and of course the appetizers, which they refilled for us. That would be another thing to note, there's other Korean restaurant around Irvine, such as a place we've been to on Culver, which refused to refill the Banchan (small appetizers), that seemed very unlike most Korean places I've been, but Hanbop even asked us to refill which I greatly appreciated. The delicious hot tea and cold water on the table was also a nice touch. Prices are similar to other Korean restaurants, possibly even less expensive if you order off the lunch menu. Great experience overall, definitely will look forward to coming back.

Fem A.

Yelp
I've eaten both lunch and dinner at Han Bop. Every time I come here the food is excellent. I love the Mandu soup and the galbitang (beef short rib soup). Their lunch bento boxes are delicious and come with a lot of food. I am so happy to have a good Korean restaurant close by.

Christin K.

Yelp
I definitely enjoyed coming here especially on a night where I didn't want to cook. Homemade Korean food such a warm feeling. Love the atmosphere and delicious food. I recommend this spot whether it be for a date or just a meal for the family. Service is very great the moment you walk in they are greeting you to take a seat and check on you during your meal if you need more water. I will be definitely coming back.

Jerry H.

Yelp
Y'all need to go give this place a try. A fantastic place for traditional Korean eats, we have enjoyed every single thing we had tried here. Beef bulgogi and spicy pork hanbop rolls are delicious, fresh and light with nice combination of textures with eat bite. Kimchi jjigae has a nice rich broth, and is my personal favorite. Ddeok-Bokki is a classic, and there are two options for sauces (original spicy chili or creamy rose). We weren't too fond of the creamy rose option, reminded us of an Italian vodka sauce, so the spicy chili sauce is the go to (could me more spicy in my opinion). Notable mentions go to the steamed egg, kimchi jeon, and padak. Love all of the side dishes that come along with the meal as well! People are nice, service is good, but if they are really busy, just be patient.

Jaymes M.

Yelp
Down in the area of South OC where we live, there is not a lot of Korean food available. I love going to Irvine, but when you have a big family, sometimes waiting forever to get a table is just out of the question. There is Umma's which has great to-go options with huge portion sizes and delicious sides, but nothing like a BCD, AYCE KBBQ, or other sit down restaurants. So imagine how happy I was to find, Hanbop, close to home. Hanbop's décor is airy as well as nice and simple. The staff quickly greeted and sat us at our table, where we were met with multiple banchans. Everyone was very friendly and attentive to ensure full glasses of water and banchan at all times. What we ordered: 1) Dumpling soup - generous amount of dumplings with a tasty broth. 2)Kalbi - a must for this family. As expected it was quite delicious. 3)Bossam - small portion which is good for two people in my opinion. I'm totally not complaining because I got to eat it again the next day. This came with all of it's own sides such as the Chinese cabbage, garlic, jalapenos, rice and two other items I don't know the name of. They're red and I am guessing one of them is a sauce. 4)Gimbap which is the veggie version of Kimbap. 5)Banchans - these were obviously free since they're banchans. One was a salad with a dressing, fish cake, celery with onion/jalapeno in a soy sauce, kimchi, bean sprouts and I forgot what the white jello looking banchan was. I loved the celery one so much that I now make it home and eat it all the time. Would I come back? ABSOLUTELY YES! I miss it already and can't wait to go again. I sure hope that more people dine with them. I don't want to lose this restaurant in our area. Hanbop, I am a huge fan!

Janey L.

Yelp
We wanted some yummy Korean food and we chose HanBop which was close by our hotel. I ordered the Ddeok bokki and it was very good if you have a taste for sweet and spicy. My husband got the yukgaejung, I thought it was ok. Our son got the tofu soup/spicy pork combo. The service was very good. We would recommend this restaurant.

Danielle S.

Yelp
HanBop is amazing. I really like their short rib and bulgogi. The Kimbop is also delicious. They have great Bonchon and the food comes out extremely fast. I really enjoy takeout from this place as well. The bonchon is also included when you order takeout. It's super easy to order online and walk in to pick up.

Samantha G.

Yelp
We were seated right away and we came in during lunch so it was busy. The portion of the lunch special was pretty big and had some leftovers to take home. The food was flavorful and delicious. The steamed egg was a good size and tasted good. I would definitely come back again.

Valerie C.

Yelp
I've ordered from HanBop a handful of times via DoorDash, and food has always been good and authentic. The bento box is very pretty and comes with banchans. It also comes with the 3 deep fried items- deep fried dumpling, shrimp and seaweed roll. They are delicious. I've also tried their kimchi fried rice, seafood pancake and tofu soup. All were declines. Definitely a great authentic Korean joint in Lake Forest.

Caroline K.

Yelp
Korean food in Lake Forest? Yup! Head over here. They have a great selection of different Korean foods. I've tried the galbitang, donkatsu and bossam & they were all good. They have a few banchans (side dishes) as well which were good! The service is always great! The waitress is so nice and works very hard to take care of everyone. We're glad we found this gem!

Anita C.

Yelp
Co workers suggested HanBop in Lake Forest ... and I'll have to admit I *was* skeptical at first. But being that I've already been here twice in less than a month, I'd like to say that I'm glad I went against my gut instinct. Parking is plentiful, as they do share a lot with a supermarket and many other restaurants in the shopping center - so it's never been an issue finding a spot for us. The menu is - I'd like to say - just right. It's not too big to the point where you're overwhelmed with options, and it's not too small to where you're left wondering where the rest of the menu is. You are left wishing there were *just* a bit more options from each category though ... but that's not enough for me to take off any stars from my rating. I think that may be just a personal preference. I do love that they have the lunch bento boxes, which some of my co workers tend to opt for, as they get a little bit of everything. I'd like to get it on one of these next visits too. But I love soups and after ordering their Galbitang (Korean Spare Rib Soup) - omg. The broth was so flavorful - I just may have to order this on every visit from here on out. Although, I did order a Spicy Pork Roll to share between co workers last time and co worker ordered the Egg Roll to share as well. Both of these kimbap rolls were very tasty. Tasty food added with friendly service - a definite must try if you live or work near this restaurant.

Bob A.

Yelp
Where else can you go and get cold buckwheat noodles, bento boxes, soft tofu soup, Galbi, Galbeejjim, along with other specialty dishes all in one place? If there's a place like this in the Garden Grove area let me know... the only thing missing was the jajangmyeon noodles I crave all the time... anyways 5 stars for serving up wonderful dishes at one location... which means I can go back multiple times and not eat the same dishes... love it.

Susan N.

Yelp
Came here for there to go lunch options. Got their dosirak - Korean version of bento box. Love the variety of main dishes they offer from salmon, spicy pork, bulgogi, pork bossam...etc. and the sides that comes with it are seasoned pretty well. I enjoyed it all and comes with soup. Very fulfilling and one of the better Korean spots in the area. I've taken all my orders to go and they do a great job with packing. This place gets busy during lunch time. Inside eating is about 6-8 tables. It can get a bit noisy due to customers chatting. I recommend coming here for good authentic Korean food in the area. If I'm in the area, I always come here for lunch.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
I'm so happy that I found this hidden gem! I came here because Lake Forest Animal Clinic around the corner was closed for lunch, so I decided to get lunch as well, and decided to try HanBop. I decided to to try the Galbitang and it did not disappoint me! I loved how my meal came with a side of rice, kimchi, bean sprouts, and I'm not sure what the third side was, but it was delicious! This was a perfect portion for me. The service was fast and the waiter was very nice to me. He asked if I had questions about anything and was always smiling. I highly recommend coming in for lunch and I can imagine this place being busy for dinner. There is also a lunch hour menu, which I will try next time. I decided to try the Galbitang because I was craving for something soup based especially for this cold/flu season. I will definitely come back here and try other stuff!

Yelp
I've been coming here for nearly a year. We love it! Great spot for lunch or dinner. The food and service are incredible. Such warm people and tasty food, in a nice setting. Highly recommend anytime you want delicious Korean food. My favorite is the Galbi. The fried chicken starter is also ridiculously good. And portions are

Yelp
Been on a Korean food binge lately and had never tried this place so when I was in the area, I decided to check it out. Customer service and care was EXCELLENT! Staff members were so attentive, warm, and made me feel like a valued customer. There were a steady stream of customers, but the Staff never forgot about us. Restaurant was clean and well organized with lots of seating available. Food was great, but it wasn't the best I've ever had. My only minor complaint was that the TV played random travel clips/pictures, and they had 2 songs (or 2 stations) playing simultaneously which was a bit distracting. Overall, great quality for decent price. I'd go back for more!

Yelp
One of the best Korean food we have in the OJ. Found this place and we have been ordered over and over again because we just cannot stop thinking about this place. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I got the short rib lunch bento box to go. Quality of the food is really good. The amount of food you get for the price is a great deal. The shrimp tempura was nice and crunchy and the ribs are cooked perfectly. Soup was also tasty.

Yelp
Don't walk... RUN! This is the type of restaurant you want to gatekeep because it's just so good and comforting. Their soups are the best especially on a cold winter night. Everything we ordered is amazing! I wish I came sooner. Bulgogi, Kimchi Jjigae, Beef Roll, Padak chicken, Ramen (instant ramen but make it fancy with egg). For the Banchan, I'm assuming they purposely kept the flavors basic for the potato salad, kimchi and japchae to highlight their mains and picked celery and jalapeño is the best! Family friendly restaurant with lots of parking. I'm giving it 5 stars and definitely coming back! Thank you to the sweet gentleman, cook and servers in the back. Well done!

Yelp
We heard some hype about a newer Korean restaurant opening in Lake Forest, so of course we had to go check it out. Located in a shopping center at the intersection of Lake Forest Drive and Muirlands Blvd, Hanbop offers their customers "classic dishes as well as creative and playful dishes that we have conceptualized while keeping fresh and seasonal ingredients in mind." It's usually a good sign when you walk into an ethnic restaurant and see the local patrons dining there. The customers were diverse when we dined there, but we did see a few Korean families. I'm not the biggest fan of Naengmyeon because of its chewiness, so I only ordered it because I wasn't feeling anything else on the menu and because my wife already ordered the Galbitang. My saving grace was that I was at least able to combo it with Kalbi. The banchan and kalbi tasted as you would expect them to and not surprisingly the naengmyeon was chewy. Best part of the meal was how tender the beef short ribs were in the Galbitang. It was a little disappointing that there was only one individual servicing all the tables in the restaurant, so we only got a single refill of our banchan. We may come back in the future and try different menu items so I can re-evaluate.

Yelp
Delicious Korean food and very reasonably priced. Quick and efficient service also. We will definitely come back again.

Yelp
Visited my mom and just found this Korean place on yelp. So rare to find a legit Korean place around Lake Forest. There were so many different dishes in the menu and I had a hard time which one I wanted to eat, which just means I need to come back again. I ordered the GalbiJjim which was so soft and easily came off the bone. The broth was perfect! Not too salty. The YukGaeJang was so delicious and definitely what I needed to satisfy my spicy cravings.

Yelp
I've came here for a total of 4 times. Out of those three times, my order was wrong. I only order one item, the Bibim-naengmyeon. For some whatever reason, they always forget to give me the gochujang sauce that comes with the Bibim-naengmyeon, or strangely enough they gave me two clear cold broths with no gochujang sauce. Note that these are all To-go orders, and unfortunately it is also my mistake for not checking since I'm under the assumption that they wouldn't forget something as simple as the gochujang sauce. But, I'm usually on a time crunch to rush back to work so it's not always my first line of thought. Very similar to the review previous to mine by Claudia, this place needs more employees. I tried really hard to like this place since my first visit got the order correct. However, the restaurant only has one waitress, who seems worked to the bone as she has to take charge of the entire floor by herself. Safe to say, I probably won't be coming back. Instead, just drive a bit further for Seoul Haus.

Yelp
This place was a new place that we tried and it was really nice and fun! Will definitely come back. Service was polite and efficient. I love how they give hot barley tea - and entire teapot (I added ice to my cup to make it an iced barley tea) and water at your table. I think it was a manager who came by to see if we were celebrating anything. When she found out it was my friends birthday- she brought us a very very special treat - complimentary!!

Yelp
Good Korean food spot for lunch with they are bento boxes. This place does get packed during lunchtime around 12 so we got there for a group of three at 11:30. You get three side dishes for the table, which each had its typical flavor as expected. The lunch Bento boxes ($17.50/$18.50 for the salmon) really did fill you up! The meat portion was big along with a big two big scoops of white rice. You get three pieces of tempura type items, which far case one was a butterfly shrimp, one was a rice noodle Seaweed wrap eggroll, and the last was a dumpling also with rice noodles inside. Yet two pieces of their Hanbop rolls which were just veggie rolls and what I did enjoy was the salad because the dressing was just so flavorful. I would definitely go to this place again because of the value and selection you get for lunch plus they were quick to bring out our food.

Yelp
This place is goooood! Saw it listed on the LF BOGO program and we had to check it out - the photos on Yelp looked great. Its located in the same plaza as Albertson's and the Tesla Super Chargers. Cool to be able to charge and go eat. The place was pretty packed but we were seated immediately and from there, service was spot on, fast and superb. Lots of tables and seating inside. The menu is not too big where you have a hard time choosing what to get! The two of us went with a spicy pork roll, kimchi fried rice, and fried chicken bites. Our meal came with a salad, kimchi, sprouts and a celery salad, everything went perfectly with the meal. The spicy chicken had a more sweet sauce so my BF liked it more than I did but the Spicy Pork Roll - OMG I could not stop eating that. And the Kimchi Fried Rice was amazing. Price very reasonable - we will be back very soon.

Yelp
We live in Mission Viejo, so Korean food is hard to come by. This was the closest spot, so decided to swing by. Came in for an early dinner. Place is immaculate. Going for a minimalist look. Staff very friendly and attentive. They started us off with banchan. Nice selection, kids loved it, especially the fish cakes and potato salad. And definitely not stingy with it, came back a few times to top us off. I had the kalbi jjim (braised short ribs). Pretty solid. Meat was tender and well flavored. There were some veggies and rice cakes mixed in. Overall, food was excellent, solid 4 stars. But combine that with great service and reasonable pricing, we're sold. Definitely coming back! Parking is easy. Located in a strip mall, so plenty. There's Tesla charging stations here as well.

Yelp
Order to go here and I must say I was impressed with the boxing of the takeout orders! It looked like an official bento for an order in! Everything tasted great and everyone was full, plenty of food to share or save for later

Yelp
Clean, delicious entrees. Excellent, attentive service. Would definitely go back there. Would be nice if they had a liquor license...

Barbara C.

Yelp
Great food along with friendly and efficient service. All of the side dishes were flavorful and good portions on all entrees. It is hard to pick a favorite amongst what we ordered but their Rose' Ddeok-Bokki and Bulgogi hit the spot. Next time we are going to try their Galbeejjim or one of their lunch specials. Restaurant is extremely clean, bright and comfortable to dine in.

Yelp
Hah Bop in Lake Forest is a great place for casual Korean eats. I believe it's new on the block, but they've got it together. Place is spotless, and they provide good service. I ordered the spicy pork lunch special - it's a feast, with lots of delicious sides. Korean food is all about different flavors like Spicy, sweet, sour. The spicy pork was absolutely delicious. It was tender, juicy, spicy and went great with all the different sides you get on the dish. Perfect spot for a speedy Korean food- whether you're eating on your own or with a group. Highly recommended and there is a good amount of parking in this area. They do close in between lunch and dinner shifts so plan accordingly.
