Handel's Homemade Ice Cream

Nov2024: 5⭐: I would recommend this location and the staff at this location. I searched Google and found this location. I came by this store location with my family and noted that there is a large free parking lot out front with plenty of regular and handicap parking spaces. The parking lot is attached to the main grocery store in this area. I noted that there is a police and veterans parking spot up front of the store. I noted that the store was not busy upon our arrival. There were three workers inside the store at the time of our arrival. My family kept them busy sampling flavors before choosing which flavor to get. Each of the workers seemed to be efficient and capable. The store was clean and neat upon our arrival.

Super nice place for an ice cream! The staff are very friendly and the ice cream is very good! I really like it.

Took my son here. So many choices… They all sounds so good. Ended up with a scoop of mango sherbet. Really good👍 Blue monster this time. So good😋 And this is a single scoop ice cream cone!!

Great variety of delicious ice cream with friendly staff happy to stack scoops high on their cones. Very reasonable prices; they also have party packs of 12 ice cream cups in a box, packed almost like a box of a dozen donuts. Was happy to find this creamery and we look forward to visiting again whenever we are in the neighborhood.

Old fashioned but very well modernized ice cream style. Great and soft ice creams but sherbet like others were too sweet. I ams not sure if this is authentic but it must be good and bad to different generations. BTW, mask wearing was OPTIONAL and no guests wore masks inside whilst all staffs did.

Awesome, tasty, yummy, and a hundred other words to describe the best cold treat you can put in your mouth. This is a chain and I have had it in other cities and it is every bit as good. Their recipe works and this place has it dialed in.

Good ice cream. Terrible service when it's online. These ppl do not care what you order. If an item is not available they don't even call you to see what you would like to replace it with. They just give you WHATEVER THEY WANT. and take your money

The ice cream is rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. Every scoop feels like a little piece of heaven. My personal favorites are the Peanut Butter Cup and Mint Chocolate Chip

me & my friend go into handels and i requested to taste the peppermint bark -which is good- and he asked for gingerbread .. we both ordered 2 scoops of all the flavors of ice cream .. the young lady gave me mine & in his, she put 1 scoop of gingerbread on top of the 1 scoop of eggnog .. we paid for 3 items and only received 2 and out of those 2, 1 was incorrect ..

This is my family's go to place to get ice cream!! Not only are the flavors delicious, but the portions are HUGE! A single scoop is basically a double and a double is basically a triple. They also do a nice military discount which is cool! All the workers are helpful and sweet. Love love love handels!!

Great service, delicious ice cream! Was in and out within 10 minutes. The two girls working the front were very efficient and kind.

The staff were very cheerful & accommodating to my wife & I. They're very relaxed & answered all our questions. The homemade flavors were all very good & you can sample them, providing there aren't people behind you. Just try and be considerate to other patrons. I ordered my coffee with chocolate chips & my life got the red sorbet come. Yummy dessert! The overall store & dining area was clean & organized. Thank you ladies. See ya soon! This is the place to go on a hot day for some magical ice cream. There's plenty of sitting options indoors and out. We saw how the employees are willing to let customers sample flavors before choosing. It was kind of overwhelming seeing how many delicious flavors there was. You can feel the diabetes in Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie Ice Cream but it's totally worth it. The servings are generous and the pricing is fair.

Hey Guy are you glad you found Handel's a couple of years ago!!!! YES...! I want them to be as prolific as Starbucks. They hit all my ice cream hot buttons. Larger than expected servings( read Huge) Great Prices- think 2016 1/2, ok- 2002! HAPPY friendly and natural Service Of Course confusingly delicious ice cream How do they do that!!!? You'll have to try and figure it out.... Go!

One the best Ice cream Spots I've been too !! Everyone working there was awesome, they treated you really nice !! I was totally impressed with how many flavors they had!!! This is my kids favorite ice cream joint everything we had was amazing two thumbs up

Great quality ice cream!!! I tried the Coffee Chocolate Chip, Twixter, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Vanilla with Oreo. 12/10 would recommend.

The staff was very friendly. I ordered bubble gum ice cream which had chocolate chips in it... that surprised me! The location is nice, typical ice cream joint. I would recommend this ice cream if you like chocolate because a lot of their flavors have chocolate chips in them, even the unsuspecting ones.

Handel's is my go-to spot for ice cream! And I'm very picky about my ice cream! I found out about Handel's a few years back from my friend and it has bern a sweet o'clock staple ever since! There's a wide variety of flavors, both classic (chocolate & vanilla) and unique (Berry Cobbler and Oree Dough). There's sherbet and vegan options as well! The quality is fantastic, much like Marble Slab, but the price is much better! Especially for the size! Big portions, I typically go fora single scoop or a kid's scoop. My favorite flavors: chocolate cake batter, cotton candy, twixster, smores, vanilla, orange sherbet, oree dough, and cookie monster. The service is great and lines move fast when busy. I recommend Handel's to everyone!

Handel's has been my favorite since it opened. Unfortunately, we bought a pint of cookie dough and a pint of the Salted Carmel Truffle and there were only a couple of truffles and a super small amount of cookie dough. The first time I chalked it up as a one-off but I just went again and the Salted Carmel Truffle pint had ONE truffle. Still going with four stars because the staff is amazing and am hoping the owners fix this issue.

The coconut pie ice cream was damn good. The servers were very smiley and helpful. The place could use a little sprucing up, but I wouldn't let that stop me.

Stopped by Handel's Homemade Ice Cream before a dinner reservation in the area. I've passed by this ice cream shop in the past and they do get crowded toward the later part of the evening. When we walked in, the cashier let us sample a few flavors and ultimately opted for the strawberry chunk cheesecake ice cream in a single dish. The ice cream was well balanced and had small chunks of cheesecake throughout the scoop.

When the parking lot of the ice cream shop across the street was packed, I decided to try this place. As it shares the parking lot with Kroger, there were plenty of empty spaces within easy walking distance. I lucked out by arriving right before a big crowd, so only one other customer was ahead of me. The wait allowed me the opportunity to browse their menus. I noticed some interesting flavors, such as, The Blue Monster which is blue-colored vanilla ice cream with Oreo and Nestle chocolate chip cookies. I would have tried it but I was in the mood for something chocolate. When I was told the Chocoholic Chunk is dark chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks, I decided on the Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae with that flavor. Unfortunately, the sundae was not prepared within the confines of the packaging. Rather than placing the scoops side by side, they were stacked. I was concerned closing the lid may cause a mess, so I ate the sundae outside. I enjoyed the taste of the ice cream, but wished for more chocolate chunks. Occasionally, I would have a spoonful of the Chocoholic Chunk without a chunk. The brownie was moist which is not the case at some other shops.

Such a friendly staff at Handel's! They were so patient with my grandson as he tried a few flavors to make his final selection. We will be back.

When I went to get ice cream for me and my mom. The top ice cream scoop literally fell off the cone and into my hand as soon as I stepped outside. It created a huge mess and was completely ruined. A huge waste of money.

I love bringing the kids in for Handel's ice cream. A part of the fun is that the people who work there are young, friendly, and hard working; this may be their very first job, so a little grace (which has't really been needed so far) goes a long way here! The ice cream is - well - creamy! The flavors are classically satisfying; the type where when you start eating, you don't even realize you can't stop eating until it's all gone! The kids love the Cookie Monster* (I think that's what it's called - it's Oreo + chocolate chip cookie w/ vanilla ice cream... dyed blue?) - in all it's forms. I love the Hurricanes with a chocolate base and chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in - since I have to. What I really want is the small cup (the reason why I get a Hurricane) shake rather than the one that comes in the big cup; sometimes a small simple treat is all I need - but they can't make that happen, so I settle for the Hurricane, and it's not entirely disappointing. There are so many classic and unique flavors, it would be hard to say you can't find something you like here. They even have non-dairy options, though not a lot to pick from.

Creamy, homemade every day ice cream. Probably 30+ flavor options. They had the regular flavors you would see at most places as well as some unique options. I had coconut cream pie, and it was much better than expected. It has the feel of an old fashioned ice cream shop. Prices are a little high, we are Happy to have a new cute place close to home! Currently there is no indoor seating but that may be due to Covid since it's a new place. There are benches outside around the tree. They have one door for an entrance and another door for the Exit, and they have roped lines to keep everyone safe. Masks are required.

Their wall says "WE DON'T SKIMP" but I think I got skimped! Make sure to let them know to stuff the ice cream inside the cone so you get your money's worth OR I recommend you getting the sugar waffle cone instead. Taste was basic, nothing special.

I gave them 3 stars the first time around because they hadn't been open too long and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Have now gone back and nothing got any better. The ice cream is store-bought quality and the prices are not reflective of that. Too many better options around to go here again.

ice cream is made in house apparently and it didn't disappoint, the Monkey business is where its at. Banana cake batter ice cream with caramel swirl and chocolate chunks is GOOD. The Salted caramel also was a delight. My only issue is to remodel the place a bit and make it feel more inviting. Seems a bit dead when it comes to decor but the ice cream will make up for it.

This place has very speedy service. Got the peach ice cream it was creamy and had bits of real peaches in it. It was soo good. We also got Graham central station it was good. Also got the Chocolate peanut butter brownie. All was very delicious!!

I tried their blue beery cobbler ice cream and I liked it a lot. Gave them 4 only because very less seating area inside the store and it's packed with people.

We tried this place few months and since then have felt in love with their ice creams. Ice creams aren't too sweet like other places and have flavors which doesn't seem artificial. Example I like the Strawberry, it seems to be from fresh fruit with optimal sugar. Must try.

If you love ice cream... this is the spot to be. They have flavorful and creative flavors. The ice cream is very creamy and taste very natural. The staff and customer service are superb. Another great addition to the FloMo community.

Really love the their approach to ice cream. Simple, reasonable, and delicious. While, i enjoy my ice cream without any frills, they do offer options for those that like a little extra with their serving. I am impressed with the consistency and temperature BBC the ice cream is being served at. Optimal consistency and flavor. I have had four different flavors this far and all of them have been great. My two favorites have been blueberry cobbler and salted caramel truffle. I look forward to going back to try more.

Friendly staff ! We went with a group and all got through pretty quickly . We all ordered the four scoop variety which was fun . With large variety of selections I asked the server to put her favorites in mine . This was fun cause it was a surprise and flavors I would have never known to choose . I recommend stopping by at least once

Handel's is such a fun local ice cream shop right next to Kroger in Flower Mound. Usually on weekends evenings it's crowded with teens so we tried it with our little girls early on a Friday. It was so CREAMY and DELICIOUS! We all had Hurricanes which have candy mixed it --- M&M's, Heath Bar, Oreos, whatever you like. They let you sample flavors, too, and give great suggestions. A small Hurricane was plenty big for us to share and the prices are very reasonable. They also have coupons! Can't wait to return and try other flavors!

The ice cream taste less sweet than other ice creams and not as rich. But that's not a bad thing ‍. The customer service has always been excellent at the flower mound location. We take our child here weekly.

We went to Handel's for the second time last night (a Friday) and the line was out the door, but moved right along. Total wait was probably five minutes. Interesting flavor selection. My wife hade S'mores and I had Salty Caramel Truffle. We were both happy with our selection. A bit pricey, but we don't do this very often. We'll definitely be back.

Pretty good ice cream, I liked the flavor I sampled (I think it was strawberry cheesecake) more than the one I ordered without sampling (mocha almond fudge) but it was more that it wasn't what I was expecting than it not being good. It was heavier on the coffee flavor than the chocolate. They have a great selection and when in the area I will try more.

We took our Grandkids to Handel's Homemade Ice Cream and it did not disappoint. The ice cream is really good, staff was very friendly and when we got ready to leave they all said thank you!! When we are back to Dallas we will definitely return to Handel's.

Whils the ice cream deserves 5 stars whats the point if thec2 girls working the closing shift decide that because it was 10 minutes til 10pm they would close early. I pulled into the drive through a few seconds after another vehicle had driven off (dont know if they got ice cream or not) but after quickly looking at the board with all the flavors I pulled up to the window it was 8 min til 10 at this point. I literally sat in my car at the window watching one of the girls cleaning and there is no way she did not know I was there. At exactly 10 pm 8 minutes later she comes to the window and says we are closed. I said I'd been sitting there for almost 10 min and she just closed the window on me. As I drove out of the drive through I watched her go lock the door and noticed the open sign was still on. As good as the ice cream is. The help is not worth going back and dealing with just to get ice cream. Plenty of places to get ice cream around here. I managed a restaurant many years ago and if my staff had ever done that to a customer that would be the last time they did it while working for me. Had it of actually been 10 and had she not just pretended not to see me sitting there I wouldn't have an issue but when your sign says open and your doors are still unlocked and its not yet your posted closing time, to me that says your open for business and you should still be serving.

Great ice cream, great service and great value. Took seven of us here after dinner. Everyone loved their choices. Only negative, it would be great to have outdoor seating. I k ow it's Texas but please put some seating on the east side of the building so you are shaded from the setting sun.

Super great service!! I had the brownie sundae recently and super tasty. Couldn't pick different scoops for flavors, but it was still awesome. Will definitely be back! Lol- no time for a picture as I ate it up!!

Umm, I gave them three stars just because they were nice... the ice cream is weird! When you walk in it's a very plain store with a menu board with odd flavors and then the employees couldn't even describe them! They offer a thing where you can try 4 mini scoops which is probably the best way to go. I don't even remember what we tried but everything has a strong flavor up front. I just don't like this place and actually find it a bit creepy... you'll be happier by going to Braum's!!

So we did not plan on going here, it was Forth of July, but it was hot and we wanted something cold. We were going for snow cones at Bahama Bucks's but it was closed. So we were headed back home and I thought, what about that new homemade ice cream place? So I said, let's give it a try! We went in not knowing anything and one of the workers asked, "have you been here before?" My mother and I said no we have not. So he began to point out some things and tell us what was popular and there special flavors. Then on top of that you can have a sample taste of any flavors to see if you like them! As many as you want to try. I went in with my mind set on peach because that was one of my childhood favs. But they said not available till August but it sells out quick. So I went to my Bluebell fav which is Pecan Praline so I asked for a sample. Omg!!! I needed to taste no more. That was so much better than Bluebell. My Mom got cherry chocolate which se said was amazing. She was so impressed that she got my dad some plain chocolate but then I went out and told my husband how good it was so he decided to try what I had. Then my dad said I want what is on that picture so I went in and told my Mom so she had to add that in top of what she had already gotten him. Lol. So I know this is long but we all loved the ice cream and have decided it is our new place of have to go's. If you love ice cream you have to try this place. Also the portions are huge, so huge my mom and I had to get child portions. Lol. Another note the staff are amazing and they have vegan ice cream as well! So kind and helpful. Loved the whole experience. We'll be back!!

Great ice cream! The quality is amazing. Handel's was one of our favorite ice cream shop back home in California. The quality and flavors are consistent with what we were used to. The line can be long but moves quickly. I wish it was closer but I Will be back!

We aren't really big ice cream fans, but we sure love us some handels. Best ice cream, and the staff is beyond friendly. My husband and I take our grandkids here once a week.

I placed an order via DoorDash for their 4 Pack Pints and selected my flavors based on the options listed via the app. Handel's accepted my order and started working on it. At some point, they called and left a VM stating that one of the flavors (Red Skies at Night) was not available and asked me to call back to select a different flavor. I called them back a few minutes later and did just that so I thought everything was good to go. Fast forward a few minutes after my phone call and they just cancelled the entire order. Umm, what was the point of calling me so I could pick an alternate flavor if they were going to cancel the order without any explanation anyway? If there was another issue with my order, they should've just called me back to resolve it.

Delicious!! The "double" waffle bowl is much larger than I expected but it was amazing. We had the Graham Central Station, Strawberry, and Chocolate with Oreo and cookie dough on top.

I am a Handel's STAN. I've had it 3 times now within the span of a couple weeks and it just keeps on getting better each time. Just now I finished blueberry cobbler in a waffle cone. The blueberry cobbler ice cream is literally to die for. It's easily the best ice cream I've ever had. The employees are always very friendly and helpful; they greet you as soon as you walk in and ask you if you've been there before. The price, in my opinion, is great because when you get a waffle cone you get a LOT of ice cream. I love Handel's and will continue coming in once a week!

Lots of great flavors with generous scoops. Needs more seating tho. I also like the drivethru option.

My family and I came to check this place out after dinner last Saturday night. As we approached the building we could smell a sewer smell. It got worse when we walked in the place. That smell was so bad inside the building that we all left! Gross get your sewer in order!!! YUK!!!
