Love Handles Ice Cream and staff and owner are very friendly! I can't count how many times we have met up here for an after-school treat. Every time it doesn't disappoint! Great quality ice cream and so many choices. Need an idea for a gift or extra for a goody bag, they have sigle serve coins you cab buy.

I was pleasantly surprised that Handel's was opened on New Years Day (just a little later). So I got a single scoop of Graham Central Station on a plain waffle cone and it's all just so worth it for the price and so so delicious! I felt like I changed my mind 5 different times just waiting in line because there's so many delightful flavors!! I definitely want to return and maybe do the four-scoop sampler which is also very affordable. Would definitely recommend for dessert and for all the ice cream lovers out there.

Wow, just wow. Their ice cream are great. The have a lot of variety. We usually get a small waffle cone that had the top part of the cone dipped in chocolate. We get a small cone. But that is a misnomer. The small is 2 and a half scoops. The medium is 4 and a half and the large is 5 and a half. This is a picture of my small cone. It was $5.50

Awesome staff! Warm, friendly, and efficient! Great ice cream shop. They make their ice cream in house. It was good, but nothing too mind blowing. Pretty wide variety of flavors. Staff is a little causal about what flavors have what ingredients, so proceed with caution if you have allergies. They have 3-4 vegan flavors which may help if you have allergies (mostly sorbets). Cup or cone. The other reviews State the portions are huge, but I just think they use multiple small scoops. The regular was about normal size. There is usually a line, but it moves fast. Do not be discouraged by any line. There are outdoor seats scattered around the location and parking lot. Lot is busy, and the spaces aren’t too clearly marked, but it all works. The business is like an old school ice cream stand. You go to the window and place your order, and then they hand you your treats. Not really an indoors per se. Dog and kid friendly. Recommend! It’s about $5/regular ice cream. Four of us - $20 bucks; half cup, and half got cones. We got the sundae that was tasty too; $1 for nuts add on, comes with fudge, whipped cream, cherry, and ice cream of choice of course. They have Handle Hurricanes which are like their version of McDonald’s McFlurries (blended ice cream and toppings).

Some of the best ice creams🍦close to LA 🤤. I feel this location has so many delicious flavors. I’ve visited two other locations but by far this one is my new favorite 🤩🤤😍 I got midnight madness which is dark chocolate ice cream with pieces of Reese’s peanut butter and Oreo bits and the second flavor was coffee heath bar 😍😍😍🤤🤤🤤. My husband got banana crème pie and strawberry cheesecake 🤤🤤🤤 there are so many delicious flavors to try. FYI the portions are pretty big even for a cone. It was $50 for both of our cones, 2 flavors each just to give you an idea of the price but I’m sure it depends on the item you get wether come, cup, pint, ice cream shakes etc. highly recommend this place though! There’s plenty of seating area, it’s outdoors and the area feels very safe to come with your family and/or friends. Can’t wait to come back during summer for some delicious 🍦🤤.

TRY THE SMORES! We came here on a Sunday afternoon. Service was quick and staff was friendly. Paid $13 for Two Two-Scoop Ice Creams. Definitely will be back, Ice Cream was delicious!

Amazing ice cream!!! Their “There’s never a line for bad ice cream” signs aren’t wrong 🤣 This was our fist time and the young lady was very sweet and helpful answering my questions. She also recommended if your sharing to do the 4 scoop sampler and they can add a cone if you like.

Handel's is a solid neighborhood ice cream shop worth a visit when in La Canada. Strategically placed at the end of a strip mall in the middle of La Canada close to the library, the shop is easy to access with ample parking and within walking distance of the La Canada public library. The ice cream itself is excellent. We tried the black raspberry chunk and seasonal peach flavor. It is rich but not overpowering, sweet but not saccharine, and soft. Apparently they make the ice cream in house frequently, and it shows. Undoubtedly fresh. Service is friendly. It appears they mostly hire local teenagers from La Canada. The two that served us were upbeat and passionate about ice cream, not the stereotypical disinterested youth eager for a paycheck and then to return to whatever they'd rather be doing. Whether this is a reflection of the neighborhood or Handel's is not clear, but either way we were impressed. The location has limited seating and is entirely outdoors, probably as the interior is dedicated to ice cream production. While some air conditioned seating would provide a nice respite on this hot summer day, the frozen treats were more than enough. When I saw all of the people outside, I thought to myself ice cream couldn't possibly be this good. However, I was intrigued because this was the only place on the block which was buzzing. So we tried it and they delivered! Tips 1) the small is huge; enough for at least two people

After a sushi dinner next-door, my daughter and I decided to get some ice cream. We chose the four scoops sampler and what a deal it was! The ice cream was absolutely delicious probably within the top five of my life

Tonight I shared the four scoop sampler with my partner in crime. So much ice cream for $7.50+tip. I had green tea, butter pecan, buckeye and malted chocolate caramel. The last one was our favorite. Cheery server, plenty of outdoor seating for us and the pooch.

All I can say is: Get the blueberry cobbler GET IT!!! As long as they have it, it should be the reason to come here. Also get their green tea!

I got the four ice cream sampler to try them out. The ones that contained nuts were missing nuts. The cheesecake was equivalent to a low end tub. The banana cream was decent. But all of them were ridiculously tooooooo sweet. Everyone felt sick after an overdose of sugar. I think if they were nuttier and less sweet they would be fire.

If the generic brand Kroger had an ice-cream store this would be it. Also, don't get the Watermelon Ice. Unless, you're ready to commit to a tower of frozen sugar that contains zero real watermelon and heavy artificial flavors that taste of watermelon Jolly Ranchers. They don't offer samples and for good reason.

As someone who went to the one and only location that existed at the time as a kid, this owner did it justice. It's a vibe here. Here The lighting is bright and inviting to hand out and eat there. There is a line so you know the demand is there (we all want the good stuff) , but the staff (who is friendly and knowledgeable) were efficient in making the wait go quickly. Portions were what that are expected to be and the quality is Handel's quality. My only selfish wish is that some of these Cali locations would carry chocolate pecan (the OG) and chocolate peanut butter parfait. Got a few cones and took home 2 pints. One to intro a neighbor to the goodness and the other to just savor it an extra few times.

Hands down best old fashioned homemade ice cream I've ever had. They have so many amazing flavors to choose from and they are not small on portion control at all. The great thing about this place is the amount of windows and servers , which means quick and easy service . I wish they had more seating but given the magnitude of customers they serve I can totally understand the lack of seating... I swear they had a line in a rainy day and that goes to show how good their ice cream really is. Our favorite is monkey business and honestly it seems to be a lot of people's favorite. Also green monster is another really good flavor .... I can go on and on.

BEST ICE CREAM! My husband and I were so excited to find out there was one close to our house. Needless to say we have been going here every weekend... sometimes even twice in a week. We have been taking our turns trying literally all of the flavors. We have yet to try anything that we did not like. The staff is always so patient and helpful when we are ordering. (Since there are just so many flavors to choose from.. we always ask for recommendations too.) We started taking our toddler with us and she knows now when we pull into the parking lot. She screams "ice cream" in the car. If you haven't tried Handel's yet... what are you waiting for?

Omg, I'm glad I was in the mood for some ice cream and I was in the area. I looked it up on Yelp and this place was 1 minute away. There was a line, but that is ok because I had time to kill. I kind of had made up my mind by looking at the menu. The people behind me were mentioning other flavors. That is when I realized there are two menus. They said it was new and old. I don't know because it was my first time. It won't be my last. Delicious. Plus the pretty young lady welcomed me for being my first time. Staff seemed very friendly

Seriously one of the best ice cream places I've tried so far. The banana cream pie flavor tasted fresh and light. I would definitely recommend for dessert! Service was really quick and nice. They do not let you taste the flavors beforehand. There is one red table and some stools available for seating.

We ordered the sampler with pistachio, horchata, black cherry, and taro. The taro was our favorite--wonderfully sticky, as taro should be. The black cherry came in second, with a nice tartness texture. The horchata was good, featuring a pleasant cinnamon flavor, though it wasn't particularly memorable. The pistachio was our least favorite. Ice cream was cold and generously portioned for seven dollars.

Best ice cream I've ever had in Los Angeles - this is not a city known for great ice cream, but THIS is homemade and delicious! My only complaint is a complaint I have about most American restaurants these days (and yes, I'm an American) - the servings are WAY too big. I wish they had child-size portions. I asked for a small and it was anything but. I know some people like that, but I hate wasting food and I simply can't eat that much ice cream. So I had to throw more than half of it out. But the half I had was delicious - probably the best Butter Pecan ice cream I've ever had. The service could have been a little friendlier, but I was a teenager who worked in an ice cream shop once so I get it.

WOW. Just wow!!!!! This ice cream is the real deal. Definitely one of the best places we've been to. The flavors were absolutely delicious!!!!! Great quality product. We will for sure be repeat customers.

I'm nuts for this fresh cream! The butterscotch caramel is ridiculously rich. The line is always long so start doing that leg workout so you can hack the stand. Milkshakes are bomb and the staff is even sweeter than the ice cream. They use fresh fruit and nuts in the hand churned flavors. DAS ES SO GUUUUUD! GOOD Old fashion fun awaits you!

11/10 new local ice cream place! Handel's is a well known and beloved ice cream chain, so I was excited to try this location. There's plenty of parking in the lot although spots can get tight. The line may look a bit long, but with multiple windows it goes quickly! What we ordered: -Orange Dream Cream (5/5) - first of all, these scoops are HUGE, i could barely finish this "small." It's a mix of orange sherbert and vanilla ice cream which is clearly the best of the refreshing citrusy sherbets and the creaminess of the ice cream. The waffle cone was unremarkable but a nice addition. - Chocolate Vegan (6/5) - do not be scared away by the "vegan" because this is not your usual vegan ice cream. Absolutely THE best vegan chocolate ice cream I've ever had. Its insanely creamy (texture is just right) and the intense chocolate flavor is amazing! No hint of coconut flavor (since it is made with coconut milk) and if you blind folded me, I'd still tell you it was a 5/5 regular chocolate ice cream. Will definitely frequent this place on hot summer days !

We got the coffee ice cream, and it was delicious. There is a line that points out how amazing this place is, but it goes by very fast due to the great customer service. In a beautiful shopping center with outside seating.

I love Handel's! They have so many flavors to choose from and the serving is very generous. While the line can look long, they move customers through quickly and the workers are all friendly. One of my go-to's is the Oree-Dough and I have been wanting to try the Black Raspberry Chunk ever since I saw it on their website. I came back here today and was pleasantly surprised to see Black Raspberry Chunk as a new flavor on their menu! ~manifestation lol~ It was delicious and I will definitely get it again.

Lots of free parking. Tons of flavors. Very friendly service! I enjoyed my cherry vanilla in a waffle cone. Friends got some vanilla, taro, cinnamon, and other flavors. Generous sizes for the price!

I love this place is open until 10 pm everyday. A late night fix of home made ice cream always hits. So many flavors they need two menu boards to fit them all. Sundays, shakes, malts, cones, my favorite Banan splits!! The flavors are unique and the portions massive. Made fresh daily, not full of preservatives and gum. It's an ice cream lovers paradise. As a kid I grew up on Farrels ice cream and this place minus the fanfare has that feel. An old fashioned fountain in a modern setting. Staffed with friendly young people happy to customize anything. What's not to love.

I ordered the pistachio ice cream in a waffle cone and had no idea that the scoops were so large, I definitely go some bang for my buck. The pistachio was ok. I think there was some sort of almond liquor in the ice cream because the pistachio didn't just taste like pistachio. Overall, I would come back to this location and get another flavor.

My wife and I have become Handel fans due to their delicious high quality ice cream and the excellent customer service at their La Canada location. My earlier review noted all the goodness there is to know about Handel ice cream. Little did we know that apparently all of La Canada feels the same way. It seems every time we stop by, if there's no line, before long there is a line. As cold as it has been, people of all ages continue to get their Handel ice cream. And here's proof of that. See the photo my wife took after the recent cold rain and low snow level when we stopped by. We weren't the only ones there that chilly afternoon.

NEW ICE CREAM STORE IN LA CAÑADA =============================== I need ice cream like a need a hole in the head, but I had to try it because LCF lost Pinkberry and Penguins and the Town really needed a local place. My first choice was a cup of the peppermint bark. It was absolutely delicious. The amount was just perfect and it was $5.00. I would highly recommend checking it out if you're in the neighborhood. There are so many different flavors to try.

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream - La Cañada continues to get 5 stars in my book. We have hired the ice cream truck for events numerous times. The staff is always friendly and fantastic. And the ice cream....so so good!

Handels pistachio ice cream has to be one of my ultimate favorites. It's creamy and delicious!! My only complaint is that it's always so hard to choose.

OMG, I pretty much love every flavor and option at Handel's. Universal best all around ice cream. One scoop is more than enough!

I have no reason not to give it 5 stars besides the fact that I am saddened by the closing of Penguins. I have fond memories of Penguins and the ice cream here is comparable... some of the flavors I have tried are a little too sweet. I will keep coming since the location is convenient, and will try some more flavors trying to finds some that are not overly sweet. Texture is also good, and the only thing in the area that is comparable is Moo Moo Mia. Moo Moo Mia is also a great spot - smaller batch means less flavors, but better quality (imo). But I do like this spot and will be back for more. Lots of flavors to try!

Handel's Ice Cream came to my house with a customized ice cream Sundae bar! They bring everything and take it away. Easy peasy. Franci Nakamura was so fun and easy to work with and my guests were thrilled that Handel's ice cream was set up on my porch!

Nice little ice cream shop where you can grab yourself some dessert after a meal at one of the nearby restaurants. I typically like to get a shake once in a while as a little treat. The lines can be a bit long during summertime, which of course is expected. Still, worth the wait to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Who doesn't like Ice Cream ?? I honestly have never meet anyone that doesn't ;) This fun spot in La Canada is awesome and simply delicious !! Unique flavors to try .. rich ., creamy and smoooooth ice cream it just hits the spot ... It has that old school old fashion flair that I love ~ The servings are over the top ... A small is almost 3 scoops ... Wow! If you're in the La Canada area and you are looking for quality ice cream for you or the kids .. I highly recommend this place ! I take my nephew here often and he just loves it ! Thanks Handels ~ see you soon for another day of indulgence.. We all deserve it from time to time !!!!

Handels is the ultimate ice cream experience in the foothills ( La crescenta - La Canada - Pasadena ). A must try for young and older. All the flavors are super OG, and you can get sundaes, shakes, scoops , hand made cones, Ice cream sandwiches, and even malts!! Lines are long ( duh ) , but move super quick with multiple order windows

Handel's Ice cream is an awesome addition to La Cañada Area! Had it for the first time yesterday and it's our new go to ice cream place! The ice cream is 5+ stars, the staff is on a whole other level ! If I could give the people working at this place 10 stars I would. The ice cream experience for kids is suppose to be a fun one and the people working there really do make it fun. Kids walk away will a amazing ice cream and a huge smile on their faces. The prices are really great too! I love their pint containers, the pistachio ice cream was amazing.

The sign says "Since 1945" - really? Why is this the first I'm hearing it?! Handel's is a great addition to the neighborhood. Great ice cream with a variety of inventive flavors (blueberry cobbler, buckeye/peanut butter fudge, orange dream team, chocolate malt/caramel). This isn't the high butterfat, gourmet, five bucks for a mini scoop of ice cream (yeah I'm looking at you Paradis) kinda' place. But the quality is great along with the staff and service. I'm coming back!

I have tried to come here three times and the place was too busy to even park. Today I tried again and was able to park and order. I got the cherry in a cone and it was really good. Worth the wait. I did the walk up thing. I don't think they have indoor seating.

Great ice cream and friendly service! They have a bunch of different unique flavors that I had a hard time choosing what I wanted. I got the 4 sampler and all my choices were amazing. The strawberry cheesecake was the best by far. Green tea is my favorite flavor and this was no exception. Everything was so yummy! I will be back for a future sweet tooth craving!

Meh , for me it gave me a really bad stomachache and my kids too and I can't. Even remember what we ordered I will say it tasted great but we all got super sick that night :( was hoping to like it

I was at Handel's today for the first time and had the taro ice cream. I must say this may have been the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. It as so delicious!!! The young lady who served it was very nice and the place was definitely appealing. I will definitely be back : )

Very good house made ice cream. Flavors are interesting and uncommon. The menu is hard to take in there are so many choices. I don't love the Disneyland style line outside, and the pay the scooper model seems inefficient - but those small issues aside it's definitely the best ice cream option in the Crescenta/Cañada area.
