Handies by Bou is Bou catching the casual handroll trend. Located inside the hotel, they command a small bar. The approach is more fusion usually different types of salt and sauces but the fish is solid, and the flavors are tasty enough and service is fun and friendly. Prices are a bit high. But will come again...

Google
So you can't get into Sushi by Bou because you waited until the last minute to make a reservation give Handies a try. The hand rolls have a nice variety of fish and interesting ingredients that everyone is worth trying. You are sitting at a bar but you are the center of attention because there are only about eight seats. The whiskey is plentiful so you don't have to stop at the great food enjoy a little something extra.

A little gem tucked away from the mayhem of Times Squ/Theater District. As for the handies, I've just ordered from the 3 handies for $20 menu, and everything I've tasted has been incredibly fresh and flavorful. That toro is to die for! The sushi chef, Frankie, takes a lot of pride in the food he places in front of you. I'm eager to try some of the other amazing sounding items on the menu. I've eaten here 3 times, and each encounter with a staff member has been warm and friendly. Today I was greeted and attended to by Miguel, who was super nice, so helpful, and kept the green tea coming. So relieved to find yummy food in a calm and friendly atmosphere near work.

Google
Sushi was amazing and the service was also immaculate. We had Cameron as our chef and he was very knowledgeable and super personable. His hand rolls were perfect and as I am writing this I am craving more of this sushi. Can't wait to come back. Must visit if you come to the city.

Top quality handrolls! Can't wait to be back

Yelp
I'm never disappointed with my experience at Sushi but Bou. The Chelsea location is my favorite in the group. The manager, Imax, always makes sure I'm having a good time. The bartender, Adrian, pours the best drinks (and he's handsome too!). The Itamae I had was Brian and he always made sure each piece was to my satisfaction. I can not wait to go again!

Yelp
I went they're on a whim being that it was close to whets I needed to stay. I will have to admit the website link was for some vegetarian restaurant? So I wasn't able to book reservations. I ended up walking there in hopes of them squeezing me in last minute. I got lucky and was able to score a seat. My favorite pieces the first night was chu toro and Surprisingly albacore. The albacore was perfectly seared and super tender One of the best I've actually had... unfortunately, i returned the next night and albacore was completely different. The menu was omakase nigiri in which is a total of 10 pieces that gradually increases in fattiness and flavor. Once you've completed all 10 pieces within the 30 minute window, you can add additional nigiris. I added the big mac! One big bite of layered nigiri: (starting from bottom) seared Wagyu, hotate, chu toro and finally uni. Although I was hoping for the same albacore bite I was very content. Pricing for all 10 pieces were great. So go! Enjoy a low key vibe that's unpretentious and an intimate space for you and person lucky enough to join you. Make conversations with the chef and savor the bite!

Yelp
At dinner, however it shouldn't have 30 minutes to eat. My friend and I got 12 courses omakase so we looked to make a reservation and all Sushi by Boa in NYC were booked up except for this location. I wanted to go to another location and the location I want the course is 12 courses 60 minutes. So when I saw Times Square was available, I thought it was the same, but I found out later when they rush us to finish the meal. I feel I was at the lunch time. For the price vs food, I'm not impressed at all. Chef keep adding sushi to my dish without waiting for me to finish. I don't know if that is normal. What kind of Omakase experience is it? I went to Sushi by Bou in another location before and nothing like this. I wanted to surprise my friend but she wasn't crazy about the overall either. Day by day, they are getting too commercial, I wish they can keep the quality and service like they used to.

Yelp
The service was really rushed, the sushi was okay, and the drinks were super sweet. It was only worth it because of the 2 for 1 deal. I'm the bright side, the staff were very kind.

Yelp
An intimate omakase experience! We enjoyed the meal very much and note that the quality was excellent. My favorites were pretty much all but the wagyuni and toro .. as well as the shrimp were just memorable. It's $65 and it will fill you up. We came at an off time like 2pm on a Sunday so it was just my husband and I. The employees were super nice especially the sushi chef. The entrance leads you to an underground and the space is small but is well decorated. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Eh, this place is probably the cheapest omakase I've been to and they really showed that they are the affordable option. It was a little hard to find the restaurant and it's definitely the smallest omakase restaurant I've been to. This place has a bit of a hip decoration and not the "classic" omakase vibes. We came couple minutes late but they got started right away, and the two seats next to us came really late and their pieces were just stacking up on their places.. The pieces were just okay and nothing "wowed" me or seemed that fresh? There was nothing fancy that really went on with any of them either. I felt like they torched a little too much (both sides of the wagyu, etc) where I had to chew a lot and it didn't really melt in my mouth or had a savory taste either.. I think the pieces that were not torched/had the least amount of special sauce were my favorites... Service was also just okay as we had to go up near the exit to pay, and the server had a hard time figuring out the machine to use the card/tap to pay and didn't even give me a pen that worked for me to write the tip and the total. They seem a bit strict about timing because the next set of customers were just waiting behind us as we were trying to finish our drinks.. I've been to the Philly location which was way better, and this probably was my least favorite omakase experience..

Yelp
First of all, I loved my first experience at Sushi by Bou at the NOMAD location, so immediately had to come back when I saw they had a BOGO offer. I made reservations for a weeknight at 8pm. Because the omakase is timed, be sure to arrive early or on time as they already started the first round when we arrived 2 minutes after 8pm. Even though we were slightly late, we caught up as they were placing each nigiri after each other. Our entire meal was only 30 minutes, which felt a bit rushed when dining with someone else. My previous experience was an hour, so that felt better paced. I'm not really sure when it's half an hour and when it's one hour. If you do a 30 minute dining, I'd suggest just coming by yourself for a quick meal. Overall, the speed of this experience just kind of threw me off. But the omakase itself is delicious and such a great value for $70, which include uni. I definitely prefer the NOMAD location because you get a free sake with Yelp check-in too.

Yelp
Swanky and a bit unrefined, Sushi by Bou is an omakase experience on the more affordable side. With a modern ambiance and a table that sits only 8, the environment is casual and hip. Taste: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 - (nothing wrong just standard, and not the typical intimacy/interaction you'd expect from an omakase sushi chef) Value for money: 4/5 We had the 12 piece Omakase (in no particular order below) 1) albacore - quite good! 2) akami - lean tuna - okay 3) Eel - can't ever go wrong here 4) toro - come on, it's toro, it's gotta be good 5) Miso cod - this was very good 6) Salmon - with yuzu pepper sauce 7) Scallop - can't go wrong here 8) Chopped tuna - pretty good! 9) Salmon Roe - wrapped okay 10) Shrimp - nice and sweet 11) Wagyu Uni - there was a crunch in my meat, which I figured was cartilage, was not bad though 12) Yellowtail - not bad We also added a "Big Mac" to our order which is a combination of torched wagyu, scallop and Uni on top. The only complaint is would be that the water glass smelled a bit funky and it felt like the sushi was doused in the sauce when brushed over. But overall, a great spot!

Yelp
We love sushi and regularly visit our favorite sushi restaurants near home, but we've never tried Omakase-style dining, where you eat what the chef serves you (not order from a menu). So, when visiting NYC with friends recently (who also enjoy sushi and, like us, have never tried Omakase), we decided to try Sushi by Bou. It was an awesome experience! Normally, I am not a big fan of chain restaurants. You'll never find me in an Applebee's, etc. However, in my experience, there are a handful of small chains that haven't gone totally corporate. They let each location's head chef "do their thing" (while staying in the chain's theme). That works for me in some cases, and I'm adding Sushi by Bou to my short list of smaller chains that qualify for a return visit. Finding the Times Square location was interesting. They occupy a small portion of a classic NYC restaurant basement, with steep stairs descending from a hole in the sidewalk (normally covered by a large metal plate). In this case, the metal plate is gone, and a makeshift wooden fence and gate adorn the hole in the sidewalk. Once inside the small space, you'll find it nicely decorated and optimized for the Omakase-style dining experience. Two Sushi chefs are behind the Sushi bar, each serving four guests at each seating. You watch them prepare each course and are served it with an explanation of the ingredients. We were served twelve courses that night, and you can order additional courses if you're still hungry -- or just want to try more of one of the things you were served. We thoroughly enjoyed the Omakase experience and liked this particular restaurant very much! In fact, we and our friends decided to make meeting up in NYC an annual affair, complete with a return visit to Sushi by Bou.

Yelp
This was my second time coming here. Was soooo good! A quick (30-40 min) omakase experience, but great ambience, vibes, and music. We get standard omakase and it's satisfying, and then usually add an item on at the end (recommend the spicy salmon hand roll, it's delicious). Fish is fresh and they make each one so flavorful in diff ways. Definitely recommend! And the chefs are so friendly! It was my partner's birthday and we got free sake :) will be coming back
google avatar

Yelp
This omakase spot is a total gem. The quality is top-notch, and the prices are unbeatable. The ambiance is just the right mix of cozy and fun. The service was some of the best I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, we felt really taken care of. The chef was awesome--really attentive and made the whole experience entertaining. We even re-ordered the toro, and it came with some complimentary caviar! This place is so good that we make it a point to come back every time we're in town, even though we're all the way from Houston. If you're looking for an amazing sushi experience, definitely check this place out.

Liz B.

Yelp
I definitely got a little lost trying to find the actual door to this location but this was a great omakase experience with fresh fish and rice that was a perfect slightly warm temperature! The staff were friendly and gave free sake shots at the end. I just wish the experience was longer than 30 mins long and I would've been more annoyed if I didn't get a great BOGO deal!
google avatar

Phuong D.

Yelp
I came on their Omakase deal and the whole experience was straightforward including reservation, seating and eating. The sushi was so good and everything tasted fresh. The entire Omakase experience was quick and to the point although this seems more like a prix fixe menu than Omakase.

Yelp
No bou-sh&t, this is an amazing sushi experience! The place is small, only seats 8, although they managed to get a 9th when we were there. There's a bar in the corner but no real room to stand there. The tasting is 45 mins long (although there is a 90 min version). Our omakase menu: Hamachi (yellowtail) Akami (lean tuna) Botan ebi (spotted prawn) Ikura (salmon roe) Bincho (albacore) Maguro (chopped tuna) Hotate (scallop) Gindara (miso cod) Toro (fatty tuna) Sake (salmon) Wagyuni (surf and turf) Unagi (BBQ eel) We added the Big Mac (wagyu, toro, uni, scallop). Everything was quite good but the standouts were albacore, scallop, miso cod, and salmon. So good that we wanted to revisit them all. The Big Mac is a burst of flavors -- definitely get it if you still can eat. Sapporo on draft and a good selection of sake. Our sushi chef was Brian. He's a skilled artist and happily chatted about the fish. If you like sushi with a bit of an edge, this is your place.

Yelp
Update: came back and had another great experience! The meal goes by quick but every bite was delicious and the ambiance is fun. Super tight space but feels like a speakeasy!
google avatar

Yelp
I had a great experience here and the service was excellent. The chef was attentive and the food came out at a great pace. Portions are a bit small but everything was tasty. I did feel that the menu was a bit safe and didn't venture too far outside of more popular types of fish but there was variety in the preparation, such as a spray of yuzu, and I still left satisfied. My favorites of the night were the scallop and spotted prawn. Overall I'd still recommend this place, especially as a starter to an omakase experience.
google avatar

Wendy H.

Yelp
$65 for a 12 course omakase of fresh and delightful fish combos? Can't go wrong. The hotate and the uni (Santa Barbara) were some of my favorites. It took us 30 minutes to finish so it's a great pre Broadway option. Not as quiet as I would have hoped but still an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

Yelp
I am not a big sushi fan, so I was looking forward to trying this place. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a speakeasy setting. The restaurant was gorgeous and small. I sat in the sushi making area, and they gave me different sushi, and they were delicious, most of them! Alex made the sushi and he was great! I then had some great cocktails! I definitely enjoyed it!
google avatar

Yelp
Orby, Stephanie, Fernando, Alfonso and El Chapo are awesome. I was slightly skeptical - affordable sushi omakase available near Times Square?! Grabbed a reservation same day and dropped in after Hadestown. This place is awesome - not an average tourist spot at all. Energetic - not fussy or stuffy. Welcoming. Fresh fish with creative (but not overly so!) preparation. Listen to Orby's favorites and order extra. Alfonso's drinks are tasty. Listen for Fernando's laugh. Really fun - on my list for next time I'm in New York. Quiet spot even though it's close to everything.

Yelp
I enjoy dining here whenever I am in the mood for some high-quality sushi without breaking the bank. It is a small sushi bar that could accommodate 8 people, located in the basement of the Sanctuary Hotel in Times Square. The omakase menu offers 12 pieces of sushi for $60 and an opportunity to order a la carte if you are still hungry. You are expected to finish your meal within 45 mins.
google avatar

Yuka Y.

Yelp
Sushi by Bou in Times Square is a quaint omakase place serving a 12 piece course for $60. This is one of our new favorite finds as they serve high quality sushi at an affordable price. They offer an alcohol and cocktails menu with a small bar seating area for you to chill while waiting to be seated. Location wise, there's no need to go into the Sanctuary hotel. There's a separate set of stairs outside the hotel (left of the main entrance) that leads down to the restaurant. We were seated on time but keep in mind if the party before you chooses to order extra items, you will be seated later. The standard set of 12 is only supposed to last 30 minutes. If you choose to order extra, you will feel a bit rushed towards the end as they try to make way for the next party. The course itself had a good variety of sushi- there were several torched items, cooked cod, wagyu, and eel besides your traditional raw fish. Overall we had a great experience for the price and will definitely be back again. Rec: For my uni fans- for an extra $40, you can add an additional 6 pieces of sushi that includes uni. The original 12 course includes uni as part of the 'surf and turf' with a slice of wagyu but for those wanting to savor just the uni alone (sourced from Maine)... the add on course is the way to go. If you just want to add uni, it's $15. Might as well add on the extra $40 so you can also try their salmon nigiri sourced from New Zealand! Cocktail rec: Kyusho cove - hibiscus tea based. Tart and bubbly. $17

Yelp
This my 3rd visit to Sushi by Bou but my first time at the original location. We loved each piece and extended our seating to the 18 course omakase because it was that delicious. We really appreciated the sushi chef who made certain we knew what we were having and adjusted for palate or allergy restrictions. I enjoyed more fatty tuna since I don't enjoy uni. It was one of the best omakase experiences in a tiny 10 seat sushi bar experience.

Kristina T.

Yelp
Everything is fantastic! This is one of my favorite omakase places in the City. The people are great, the food is even better and the ambiance is so fun! Highly recommend this 5 star fresh sushi spot!
google avatar

Caroline L.

Yelp
Fast speedy service. Great food. Not pretentious, down to earth . Not too loud but prob not kid friendly because of the bar stool and dark ambience
google avatar

Phuong H.

Yelp
Service: Personal. There are only 8 seats, so reservations area must. Each chef takes care of 4 guests and you are sitting where the food is being prepared. It was a great experience to have conversations with the chef and watch him prepare in from of you. Arrive on time to your reservation because they tend to start in time. Food: Omakase- 30 mins experience. 12 pieces of sushi. It was delicious, made in front of you, quick service. If you end up liking a certain sushi, you can request it at the end for an up charge. Big Mac Handroll- delicious!! It was a huge bite, the toro, scallop, and uni together was a lot to handle but it was worth the experience. On to my next adventure...
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and great ambiance! The sushi is good and tasty but for some pieces not the most amazing fresh quality given the price. Would come back but make sure it's with a deal (I had BOGO free omakase $70)

Yelp
Sushi by bou is such a luxurious unique speakeasy experience. Sushi by Bou offers a traditional Japanese omakase experience, where the chef selects the finest seasonal ingredients and guides you through a timed tasting. The speakeasy offers a signature 12-piece omakase and an upgraded 17-course omakase, using the finest quality fish and traditional edomae techniques. Our chef was so nice and knowledgeable about every dish he served. The ambiance gives off chic 1920s vibes with elegant accents of gold. Anyone who wants to get a 60min VIP experience that includes a 12 courses dinner and intimate vibe for only $50 can get it by DMing VIP to @soushibybou_

Yelp
I was recommended Sushi By Bou through friends and family, and boy were they right about the price and tasty-ness of the omakase. What made this experience better was that this Sushi By Bou location is actually a speakeasy, so definitely do not get confused when you arrive at a coffee shop looking for omakase because it is in the back of the cafe. Just ask the cafe employees where Sushi by Bou is located! $60.00 for 12 pieces of fresh nigiri-zushi in NYC is very rare! Watching our chef carefully piece together each nigiri-zushi was such a peaceful experience - it's like watching a artist craft his piece of art. Not only was the fish fresh, our waitress was also super attentive, ensuring that my water was never below the half-way mark. My friend also loved this place and agreed it is a great price point for anyone whose starting their omakase adventures in the city. It was also her first time experiencing an omakase meal and she will for sure be checking out more Sushi By Bou Locations.

Yelp
Best dinner experience I've ever had and so happy I had it with my roommates!! Service was 15/10. Literally food and everything was so good all around. Will definitely be taking visitors here!! (Ask for el chapo!!) It's also really cool that it's a sushi speakeasy (hidden behind a flower shop). Small space but well decorated.

Yelp
sushi by bou has been on my omakase list for a bit, so i was a little underwhelmed (and disappointed, as much as i hate to say it). another couple seated with us expressed a similar sentiment but also mentioned they were here in the past with a much more satisfying experience, so who's to say. it was also a 2:30PM seating, so maybe it's better in the evening. ambiance-wise, the speakeasy aspect is cute. you pass the chemistry room and go down a flight of stairs to a pair of doors, you question if you're in the right place for a few minutes, and then you tentatively knock on the door that doesn't say "employees only" hoping no one yells at you for bothering them. the graphics on the wall and pop music aren't really what you expect, but it doesn't detract too much from the whole experience if you don't mind that vibe (i sure don't, but did overall gave me more "tiki bar" than "omakase speakeasy"). overall service was okay. i'm not really one to harp on service as long as no one spits in my food, but the passion behind the chefs when crafting the omakase has been such an enjoyable part of other omakase places -- just not this one. everything felt a lot more toned down and lax. the food itself... left a little to be desired. some of the pieces tasted fishy in an unintentional way that indicated the fish was not super fresh. dishes i typically would love (e.g. hotate, otoro) were underwhelming. the otoro in particular was notable because it was torched to the extent where i felt like it lost flavor and missed the point of the fish (and otoro is usually a slam dunk favorite for me). the wagyuni / surf n turf just felt like a way to show off more expensive foods, but the ratio of uni to wagyu was off where the wagyu overpowered everything else. there were a couple pleasant dishes (miso cod, salmon), but overall nothing was super notable. decent sushi, but that was about it -- about right for its price ($65 for 12 courses, which is on the more budget-friendly side for omakase).
google avatar

Vicky R.

Yelp
I've come here multiple times! It's absolutely delicious and a great omakase deal. They're efficient but still feels intimate with a cozy space. They often have fun deals if you subscribe to their listserv like free drinks or a free piece. I am usually pretty full afterwards as well without ordering extra pieces. They have delicious and sweet cocktails. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Sushi for those who don't really care about a real omakase or who are new to sushi. When I found this restaurant, I was a little excited. Omakase for an affordable price. That was strike 1. We had the "deal" where we received a free glass of sake. I guess we were supposed to be given a cheaper sake so the manager made sure to tell me. What was I supposed to do? Spit it back into the glass so he can give me the cheaper stuff? Strike 2 & 3 My experience was from Oct 2023 and this place still annoyed me so much (strike 4) I figured I should write a review. I hate ALL restaurants who use the word "omakase" when their menu NEVER changes. This restaurant, from looking at the reviews, had the same omakase menu for years. The party next to us was offered their $100 SET COURSE whereas we were only offered their basic set course. I supposed we lucked out since we used that difference to get better food afterwards. The sushi chef however gave us some good recommendations on Chinese food! So I guess I would recommend this if you just want some cheap set menu sushi that is safe to eat. 100% would not recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a sushi "omakase" dinner.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
This specific Sushi by Bou has a very intimate setting as there are only eight seats at the bar area. The restaurant is located downstairs a graffiti pathway and as you enter past the door you are greeted with neon fixtures and colorful artwork throughout the restaurant. They were playing R&B and the service was attentive. Quality of the fish here is okay - I do think you can get better priced sushi elsewhere. Location makes sense for the cost though. Be sure to be on time! My train was running late and I showed up with four pieces of sushi on my plate already. Total eat time was roughly 30 minutes from when the first piece of sushi came out to the last. I get there are not many seats, but it felt like we were being rushed out and I'm pretty sure the couple seated next to me were on a date lol - maybe not the best spot if you are looking for a slower paced meal.
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
Phenomal place, food, and experience! I was initially running 20 min late because I had gone to the wrong location (don't make the same mistake), but they were so nice about it and let me know they were going to start plating. The speakeasy-esque interior presents with a cafe front and a dimly lit sushi bar behind the doors. There are 8 total seats which makes it a very intimate experience. I enjoyed watching the chef roll up the sushi and paint them in exquisite flavors, and then of course getting to devour these meticulously crafted sushi. Definitely a solid and affordable omakase place!
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
An elegantly designed speakeasy bursting with energy. The staff are fun and friendly. It's a snazzy place to grab a drink before and after your meal, but it is not quite a bar or izakaya since they do not offer any food items to snack on. Non traditional entry level omakase with basic pieces. The bar seats 9 people. A12 piece course within 30 minutes. They have specials and a la carte menu if you are interested in adding items after your course is over. They have multiple locations each with their own special theme. They are a good starter spot for people beginning their sushi omakase journey.
google avatar

Maggie G.

Yelp
We had a great experience with the staff here. We went in a larger group of 6 with the 17 course omakase. A lot of us in the group are a little bit of sushi snobs and we've had very great sushi in many places, including Japan! Having that said, we really loved this take on omakase. The fish was extremely fresh and very high quality, especially taking into account the price. They serve you caviar, uni, toro and wagyu for like $150-$160 pp (I forgot), wow! However, I think their secret sauce is their rice! It's perfectly cooked and flavorful, it enhances the taste of the fish. They also prepare their sauces in house and they really make a difference in enhancing the umami flavors. It's rare for me to say this but there were honestly no bad dishes. Everything looks so simple and plain the pictures but I'm still drooling over them as we speak. I don't drink but my whole party does and they really enjoyed their drinks. The bartender does an amazing job, we ended up paying a little over $1,500 for a party of 6, tip included. We ended up adding 3 courses of their specials because the price was great! And again, they killed it! We also drank like fishes, which added on to our tab. Honestly, for how full and drunk everyone was at the end of the night, it was a very cheap tab haha.

Yelp
$60 for 12 piece omakase in 30 mins. Price was good for how fresh the fish was. If you're looking for a spot for good sushi, then come here. If you're looking for a spot to bring a client to lunch, unless you guys are like bffs, I would find something else. They started serving before I even sat down. They are very efficient to make sure it's a 30 min lunch, so they can serve another round. It's very tight inside. A little too cozy for me. I elbowed the person next to me twice during lunch. Im super petite and she wasn't big either. It's also very loud due to the low ceiling. I would come back by myself but not with a big group of friends. Yuzu lemonade was pretty and yummy. I would order it again.

Yelp
Did the 12pc omakase- pieces were delicious and such good quality - usually the typically pieces like salmon, yellowtail etc. towards the end there were two or three pretty uniques pieces. For fall they had a fall pumpkin piece and that was interesting and def not something I want to try again but appreciate their effort to be unique. Did an add on for a hand roll and the hand roll melted in your mouth highly recommend adding. Vibes were good, the place is super small like 6-8 seats at the bar. And the place is hidden through the flower shop. They also gave free shots since it was my sisters birthday.

Yelp
Quick bite to eat. 12 pieces for $65 is a great deal. Fresh fish. No frills. Just fast good food. 30 mins in and out.

Yelp
This is a fabulous omakase spot walking distance from my office. I've been here three times and have suggested it to my friends for a quick and delicious lunch. I won't spoil what the entrance looks like but it makes for a great surprise. Overall, it's good vibes, quality sushi, and great value for $60. You get ikura, spotted prawn, fatty tuna, uni, wagyu, and with some delicious flavorings like yuzu and truffle salt. I really like that they have hot/seared pieces as well. A very balanced meal overall, and filling!! It's a 30 minute timed seating, but they don't rush you especially if there aren't people waiting. Definitely an intimate setting (with dim lights and music playing). I wouldn't go with more than 3 people because of the counter seating but it's perfect for a small group. I'll continue to be back!

Yelp
been wanting to try their omakase's since they were doing a promo on instagram and was popping up everywhere. very very good omakase, with a wide variety of fish. big downside is that the chef was speeeeding through our meal, almost rushing which i didn't appreciate since omakase is an intimate meal with a small group of people and a chef. we were in and out in 30 mins ! its like an assembly line, they do not have like group reservations like other omakases. music is unbearably loud. chef was rushing us out and started prepping for the next round of people immediately as we saud we didnt want to order any add ons. i'd say closer to 3.5/5

Yelp
Can anyone say REASONABLE omakase?!?! The place is super cute. It is a speakeasy and the front is a flower shop. You got a button and it opens the wall and you walk through a short hall into the cute small back room. There is a small seating area to the left and a small bar on the right. In front of you there is seating where the two omakase chefs serve you. It was so fabulous and again, so reasonable. We did the bougie omakase so we got 5 more tastes than the regular omakase. We also did the sake flight. It so TOTALY worth it. I took pictures of everything we got off menu. Our chef was fabulous as was the bartendar and everything! The owner was a crack up and we had a great time...such a great time we did the whole thing again right after! Why not?! We were so stuffed and happy afterwards. We have not been to any of the other locations but if you get a chance to come to this one- you are guaranteed a GREAT time!

Yelp
I came here to celebrate Valentine's day and absolutely loved my first omakase speakeasy experience! The front is a floral coffee shop, but enter through a door, and you'll find yourself transported back to the roaring 20s! I absolutely loved the luxurious and intimate sushi bar! There are limited seats available so make sure you book ahead of time! The normal omakase experience is a 12 course, 30 minute meal, but I opted for the 17 course, 60 minute meal ($100) and it was so so worth it! Make sure you text the restaurant if you want this longer experience! An hour was just enough time for me to indulge in all that sushi! The fish was, of course, very fresh and the flavors were very traditional. Here are the 17 courses I had (* indicates the additional course for the 60 minute experience): Yellowtail Lean Tuna Spotted Shrimp Salmon Roe *Red Snapper Chopped Tuna *White Sea Bass *Flute Scallop *Uni *Golden Eye Red Snapper Miso Cod Fatty Tuna Salmon Wagyu Uni *Salmon Roll Eel After you finish your meal, you have the option of sitting at the bar to grab a unique cocktail or two! I actually got two glasses of sake on the house and it was a great way to finish off the meal! There are a handful of other Sushi by Bou locations (even in NJ) but if you like a classy and luxurious experience, you need to go to this Chelsea location

Yelp
Love coming back here for the food, ambiance and awesome cocktails!! We got here and got seated in the lounge. The ambiance was super upscale, classy and just overall great vibes. The music really puts you in the mood to have a fun night. Our server was nice and accommodating. The fish was FRESH!! Our chef was nice and we got to know him a little better. We had a quick 30 minutes of 12 different courses. It felt like it went by pretty quick and we were sad in the end so we ended up ordering a few more tuna pieces. My favorite was the hamachi and yellowtail! The last time we went to Sushi by Bou in Nomad, they gave us free sake shots. We didn't get that this time, sigh but still had a great time. We also got 20% off with the promo code listed on the website when reserving our seats. I suggest you do that. We will be coming back here in the future. The price is right, the fish is fresh and the ambiance is FUN! Give it a try and see for yourself!

Yelp
We came here on a Friday evening with a reservation. The entrance to the restaurant is inside a flowers and coffee shop. The restaurant has the speakeasy vibe with only a few seats at the counter. The omakase is very efficient and affordable. It was $60 for 12 courses, and we were in and out in about 30 minutes. This is probably the fastest and cheapest omakase I've ever had. The food quality was actually pretty good. The fish was fresh and tasty, and the service was good. It's definitely worth the price.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday evening (with a reservation). It is quite crowded here, and the bar has limited seating. We opted for the 12 course omakase, which was 30 minutes. Although we did not feel rushed by the staff, we felt this was quick for a dinner. My fave courses were the hotate (scallop) and wagyuni (surf n turf). The service was friendly. Sometimes, the rice was colder than body temperature. Overall, a decent experience.

Yelp
Great vibes and an extremely efficient and well priced omakase service. Highlights were: miso cod, fatty tuna and unagi. 12-piece omakase is served within 30 minutes.

Yelp
Affordable omakase in a speakeasy fashion! Came here right after Peter Luger and was a nice finishing touch. The pieces were fresh but it wasn't anything crazy special with some tables for drinks only. It seated max of like 8 seats at the table. Staff was friendly!

Yelp
An amazing spot for omakase that is delicious, quick, fun, and a great value at that. To be transparent I am a huge fan of Sushi by Bou and frequent several locations. Every part of the experience is on point so I can always trust SBB to scratch the omakase itch. $60 dollars for 11 pieces is unheard of, although I never seem to be able to talk myself out of the a la carte specials. I notice a lot of the reviews complain about the time limit (expect to sit and leave within 45 minutes). To be fair, if you are looking for dinner to be the main event of the evening I would look elsewhere or plan ahead and request the Bougie seating (17 pieces, 60 minutes, $100). However, even with the limit, the staff manages to make the meal fun and service is excellent. The chefs are friendly but focused and are attune to the diners preferences, adjusting the balance of rice to wasabi to garnish on the fly. Drinks arrive promptly and ginger is replenished seamlessly and generously. As for the food, the set menu does not change often. There is not one "bad" piece and in general the quality of fish is excellent even without considering the price. Some highlights include the wagyuni and the miso cod. First timers - get the Big Mac it is such a memorable and delicious piece. Incredible value, immaculate vibes, and delicious food solidify Sushi by Bou as a staple in NYCs omakase landscape.
