H&K Peninsula - Review - Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The Richmond has another dim sum spot in H&K Peninsula. This place has plenty of room for groups. The menu covers Cantonese classics, like siu mai, beef chow fun, and chicken feet. Plus, there’s a karaoke room in the back. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

April 5, 2025- Saturday. Second time coming here since the price is super affordable. As of April 5, 2025- they're having a promotion of ACYE Dim-Sum for $25.99+$1.50 (Tea/person). Overall, the food was okay- not the best but you pay for what you get. My personal favorites: CHICKEN FEET- It was a bit over seasoned and too sweet, but still good. MANGO PUDDING- 10/10, no complaints RICE NOODLE ROLLS- I enjoyed the texture of the noodle rolls, however the filling shrimp/beef/BBQ pork could be improved. ==================================================== Everything else on the menu is consumable but it's more of a hit or miss- either the skin is too soggy/gooey or the inside is overly seasoned/overly cooked. If you're looking for affordable Dim-Sum or it's your first time- definitely would recommend it for what you're paying. The service and the team is 10/10. If they could improve on the food quality, I could see this place doing big things!

My new favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Don’t let the huge size of the restaurant intimidate you for a Chinese restaurant. It looks like a banquet hall, but they have reasonably priced lunch rice plates for $15- Also AYCE dim-sum for $25 during certain hours and days. The dim sum variety is less but it’s still AYCE. I like how their menu is a paper menu to mark your dishes. The food is not like other places. I’m not sure exactly why, the food tastes lighter. Sure you still get the same typical Chinese dishes but the instead of tasting just the sauce you actually taste the fresh vegetables and meat. The white rice even tastes better than other places. Its new, so not crowded at because not so many people know about it but it’s a perfect place for large groups or family dinners. It’s crab season, so we had the ginger crab, pea sprouts and Singapore noodles. Nice portions and all delicious!

I literally think this is the BEST Chinese food in the bay!!! Their Sweet and Sour pork is an absolute must, but I swear everything is good (We tried the green beans, egg tofu with mushrooms, beef chow fun, and salty fish eggplant hot pot. Portions are huge, service is amazing, quality is incredible! It’s a gorgeous space with plenty of seating (also accommodating large parties)! I’m obsessedddd

Big portions and service was great! The waiters were really kind to give us a tour of the karaoke rooms which they renovated (previously Grand Hot Pot Lounge). The lighting system is very impressive, plus you can eat while you karaoke!

7/19/2025 My family had a dinner here since it reopened after Covid. We got the Korean BBQ and the meat are not very fresh looking at the counter, and the amount are not satisfying due to the slow restock process. Some of the meat tastes sour but I'm not sure is the seasoning or the meats problem. Also I'm concerned about the safety of the employee and the customer because of how they switch the BBQ grill with their hand by a wet cloth , there aren't proper equipment to protect employee's safety.

Can’t speak about the dim sum or food on the weekends, but do not get the hotpot. Very lackluster in selections of vegetables, meats and sides, and the quality of meats is very low. Most meats are stored in a buffet style at room temperature, subject to spoilage. Service is mediocre at best. You won’t be offered water, rice, or anything unless you mention it. Owners very clearly want to squeeze every cent out of you, as they up charge for everything.

Friendly staff, generous portions, and a large variety on the menu. Highly recommend!

What an unexpectedly amazing experience! We discovered a hidden gem in San Francisco—a new Chinese restaurant that took us by surprise with its incredible food. This spot has quickly become a favorite in the Richmond District. Standout dishes include the sea bass, honey walnut shrimp, black pepper chicken, and their delicious selection of soups.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my visit to H&K Hot and KBBQ. We came during happy hour for hot pot and chose the tonkotsu and tomato broths. Both were rich, flavorful, and perfect for dipping. The self-serve station had a good variety of fresh vegetables, proteins, and assorted dishes. While the overall selection was not huge, everything available was exactly what I would normally order, so I did not feel like anything was missing. I especially enjoyed the cooked items, with the pumpkin and crawfish being standouts. Their drinks were also exceptional and probably the best I have had at any hot pot spot. I do not drink alcohol, so I really appreciated the quality and variety of their teas and non-alcoholic options. Service was very friendly and fast. We received multiple rounds of meats quickly and the staff was attentive in clearing empty dishes, which made the experience even better. The inside does have a music and lights. Music can be a little too much at times. Relatively quiet and relaxed when eating. If I had one wish, it would be for another beef cut or pork belly option to add to the protein choices. Still, for the price, quality, service, and overall experience, this place is absolutely worth it. I would come back any time.

Yelp
We had Hotpot and Korean BBQ. Hotpot is OK, meat is not great, but the worst is they forgot our seafood. We asked they brought them out, they were smelly and not fresh. Now lets talk Korean BBQ part, the ribs are awful, chewy and we can't even chew it off. The worst part we had a Karaoke room, the smell of the cooking all over our clothes, the ventilation was horrible only one fan to blow! I don't think we will ever go there again!

Yelp
3.65 stars - Fun concept. Food quality is ok, but lots of options to choose from! Some room for improvement as they just opened. Would come back again! H&K used to be a dim sum spot, but as of 2 weeks ago, they now they offer AYCE hot pot, kbbq and karaoke instead! *SPACE/VIBES* It's spacious with high ceilings, and there are also karaoke rooms in the back and upstairs. (More on that later.) There are several screens projecting random food items, their karaoke rooms, and music videos. The music is eclectic. They played everything -- Ed Sheeran, EDM, Taylor Swift, 80s hits, kpop, etc. but I enjoyed the variety! *PRICE* The regular price is $30/pp This includes hot pot or kbbq + appetizers + N/A drinks, alcoholic drinks are per consumption (see menu) +$5 for both hot pot and kbbq HH is from 3:30pm-5pm $20 AYCE hot pot or kbbq *SERVICE* - Despite what the signage indicates ("Wait here to be seated"), no one will come seat you, if you stand at the bottom of the ramp. Lol. Walk up towards the cashier. - The service started off rocky but they eventually got into a better flow. After waiting for almost 10 mins at the bottom of the ramp, we also waited a while for someone to bring us a menu at our table so that we could order. However, once the grills were set and we started cooking, the staff was pretty quick to take away our dirty dishes and refill our soup. The rest is mostly self-serve, so that was easy. - They constantly refilled the food trays at the stations - There is a 90 min time limit, and they did keep track *FOOD* I love having options, but I feel like hot pot *and* kbbq can get overwhelming, especially in only 90 mins. Given that it was our first time here and only +$5/pp to do both, we decided to do it anyway! Lol. No regrets, but will likely just opt for hot pot next time, as the kbbq options were just okay. The quality wasn't the best. Some of the veggies and seafood were obviously previously frozen. The short rib marinade was decent, but I found the rest to be a bit bland. Again, at this price point, I am not too mad about it. There are 4 main stations: 1. Main/At Table: Hot pot and/or kbbq propane grills - If hot pot, pick your broth and meats on the menu. Get toppings, veggies and seafood from the raw bar - If kbbq, head to the raw bar to get some meat 2. Appetizer/dessert/chef special: There's an assortment of foods that get rotated. Some options we tried: Cajun crawfish, salt & pepper shrimp, edamame, honey walnut shrimp, dumplings, seaweed salad, egg tart, mango sago, watermelon. Everything was tasty and worth trying, if you have the stomach real estate. 3. Sauce Bar: They have a small station with some basic sauces (garlic, scallions, cilantro, oyster, soy, sacha, chili, sesame sauce, etc) 4. N/A Drink Fridge: An assortment of Asian drinks - mostly sugary, but why hold back now?! *KARAOKE* For an additional $10/pp, you can cook, eat and karaoke all at the same time. They have 4 (?) karaoke rooms in the back, with capacities of 4-12 people, but there is also an additional upstairs space that hosts up to 30 people. Super meated out after today, but I look forward to coming back again soon and trying more items. In the meantime, here are some recommendations I think would make for an even better customer experience: - Move/change signage at entrance so people aren't waiting forever. We saw some other guests give up and leave due to the lack of service, while we were waiting. - Expand your sauce selection (Soy bean paste, salt/pepper for kbbq. Maybe ponzu, so less salty than the rest?) - Add some Korean banchan options, if you're going for kbbq - Make sure to wash the lettuce thoroughly. I think they were just doing it too quickly, so there was still some dirt on the leaves

Yelp
You can see people working hard here. It's a new restaurant and it meets a strong competitor right next door. The line at the Party Pig was just too long, and we decided to come in and try this place. $20 for hot pot and happy hour are definitely already enough for its value. They have food lying out on both sides of the place. Drinks are up for grab. This place is tailored to host Asian guys (you will know with the drinks they have). I would say the taste of the hot pot is base is too basic, and the options for veggies and sauce are too limited. But I really felt that people were having a good time, picking up things they like to mix with the hot pot or on a grill. Was going to give a 3 stars, but it's a new place, and we should encourage them

Yelp
We came in almost closing time. We got in 8:30 pm Overall is great but not enough veggies for hot pot. Beef rib eye is best for hot pot. Seafood is great opportunity for hot pot only. 90 minutes limited all you can eat.
