Handsome Biscuit

I used to love the Nashville Hot. Now what am I supposed to do since I’ve tasted Handsome Biscuit’s rendition? If you’re expecting the Louisiana style hot sauce that gets most of its heat from vinegar, this didn’t quite hit like that. It’s more of a red chile sauce, like what you’d get on an excellent enchilada, except on a perfectly crispy yet tender fried chicken breast. On a big fat tasty biscuit. I’m ruined, cause I don’t live in Norfolk.

Very disappointed with this biscuit. First time I ordered from here, the biscuit was soft, fluffy, and fresh but this biscuit tasted very old and the cheese looked old as well. They were also very stingy with the bacon. I think they gave me an old sandwich.

This was my first time eating here and the food was delicious. The biscuit was so much better than I expected and the loaded tots were great. I will definitely be eating here again when I'm in the area.

First visit and we will definitely be returning! Upon entering, we were asked if it was our first visit. When we said yes, the employee took the time to thoroughly go over the menu with us. She was very friendly and helpful! We ordered the Nashville hot chicken biscuit and made it combos with tots and a drink. They have a good biscuit selection including an option to build your own. There are also sandwiches, wraps, desserts and a great selection of drinks. The biscuit was huge and delicious! Just the right amount of spice and sauce. The tots were hot and crispy. I recommend dipping them in the Comeback Sauce. The lemonade and sweet tea were delicious also! Carry out, delivery and patio seating are the dining options. We sat at the tables outside and while it was fine, please be aware you will have birds sitting on the table right next to you. These birds have no fear. 😂 They obviously know how good these biscuits are too! Seriously though, if you are afraid of birds, the patio is probably not for you!

I went to the HB at Town Center about 8:15am today. Placed an order that totalled $39. With 4 biscuits and loaded tots expecting good quality. The loaded tots were anything but… soggy tots, maybe a tablespoon of shredded cheese, and about 6 small pieces of broken up bacon. For the price of about $8. it absolutely is not worth the money. I have eaten at HB several times before and enjoyed it. Today, what a waste of money.

Truly awesome food, a must-visit Norfolk gem. Biscuits are perfect, savory and delicious. Chicken classic is fantastic, Comeback sauce is similar to Chick-fil-A sauce. Nuggets and shorty with bacon great as well. Dolly Madison is a must-try dessert, plenty of cream cheese frosting and mixed berry jam to satisfy your sweet tooth! Reasonably priced, fast and friendly service. Update 09/2024: Chicken breakfast wrap and shorty excellent as well, although they forgot to put the bacon we paid for on our shorty :(

There's only outdoor seating if you plan on eating there. On a nice day it's perfect. The staff are very nice and informative. It's kiosk ordering but if you have questions they're right there to answer your questions. Now...to the food. It's worth the money. That Hellafitzgerald and loaded tots were smacking!! If you in Va near downtown Norfolk you gotta give this place a try.

I took my mom here. She had the dirty south biscuit. I had the Nashville hot. They were both great. Kyle , Megan , and Darion collectively made it a delicious experience.

I love the non existent customer service that I have been experiencing in Norfolk. Sorry to be a bother, I thought this was a place to eat and you profit from customers which is what I am. Food is of the average quality. Used to be a great place before COVID.

Finally tried Handsome Biscuit and I definitely see why the original location has been in business since 2013 and they have a new, sit down spot in VB. The original is located between Park Place and Ghent, at 26th & Colonial Avenue. It's a small place, order in only, very bright and pleasant. Two people were behind the counter working efficiently. There are laminated menus next to the two ordering kiosks, as well as digital displays, giving multiple ways to view your options. I like kiosk ordering, especially when, as in this case, your order is automatically added to Toasttab, where you can later view your receipt and track your loyalty points. The young man who made my order smiled when he handed it to me. Best of both worlds: good use of tech while not sacrificing human pleasantries. The biscuits are large and flaky, soft where they should be and crunchy where they should be, with a hint of sweetness. I ordered a Shorty with egg & cheese, and added chicken so I'd have some for later, as well as an additional chicken biscuit and tots with green chili aïoli. There were quite a bit of tots, enough to share, and they were hot and crunchy. Handsome Biscuit is a great option for good, local, handhelds. Of note: this location is card only, no cash.

"My mind is telling me no, but my tastebuds...my tastebuds are telling me yes! I don't see nothing wrong, with a fried chicken breast on a sweet potato biscuit..." Seriously, you just gotta try it. I recommend the one with pickles, pimento, hot sauce, and adding a fried egg. If you need a veggie break, they sell side salads to offset their other side offerings of loaded fries or tots...

Locally famous, Handsome's is well regarded for their biscuits and sandwiches. Not from the South, the thickness of a biscuit is unusual for me. These biscuits, however, are really flaky and tasty. The egg, cheddar, bacon breakfast offering is pretty good. I thought it a bit dry, and would have liked a mayo or another sauce to provide additional flavor and moisture. The service was excellent and friendly (as were other patrons). It is a small business, so all seating is outside. Take out orders are popular.

So so good. One of the best biscuit places I've ever been to! The comeback sauce is delicious and the biscuits and chicken are always so good. Go out of my way to stop here on road trips. If I was local, I would go incredibly too often. The service is always good and you get your food quickly.

Handsome Biscuit is my go-to breakfast spot when I am in Norfolk. We grabbed biscuits this past weekend, and it was ok. It wasn't as savory as I remembered, but I can't point to one particular reason. The size was typical and all of the toppings were there. Maybe the chicken was flavored differently? Or maybe I needed more toppings. Overall, I didn't walk away with the satisfied feeling I usually have. 3 STARS! I know I will be back. No question about it. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt of having an off day. It was a busy day in the city. I'll give an updated review after I visit again.

I went to the Handsome Biscuit for the first time. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. The biscuit was good! They only have outdoor seating at pic nic tables. It is a nice little outdoor eating area. You order on a computer screen, however the workers were very helpful as I was not familiar with the menu. The food was ready in a timely manner and the biscuit was good!

One of the first places I went to eat in Norfolk when I first moved here in 2019. Food and service was definitely on point. Sat outside during the summer and had a good vibe. I dont eat the food often but when I do, its always chef's kiss

Tuesday morning visit to Handsome Biscuit was the perfect start to the day! The biscuits are light & fluffy but also soft & doughy at the same time. The egg & bacon were cooked perfectly. The service was friendly & speedy! You order on the kiosk inside or you can place an order ahead of time to pick up. There is no indoor seating, but plenty of outdoor picnic tables. I look forward to trying more of there biscuit creations! Highly recommend!

One word, delicious! On a recent trip to Norfolk I enjoyed the Handsome Biscuit. While here I had the Hella Fitzgerald w/ a fried egg. This biscuit comes with chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and sausage gravy. Had to have add the egg. The biscuit itself was so good. Flaky and buttery. The chicken was crispy and deliciously cooked. Batter heavy. If you aren't a batter fan, you may take issue. The bacon was crispy as well. And the sausage gravy? On point. One thing...this biscuit is sloppy, so eat it fast. Of course I had to drizzle that hot sauce on top! 10/10 would dine again. SYOY!

Food was delicious! Biscuits were soft and fresh but fell apart a few bites in. Everything was well prepared in terms of flavor!

Well, being a devoted hot biscuit affectinato, when this suggestion of a local place to try in the Norfork area came up, I couldn't resist trying, and I'm glad I did. While I haven't tried enough of their vast array of menu options to give a very detailed review,  the choice I made will be discussed.  My choice was a shorty (fried egg with a sauce and a helping of thick slices of ,  which was mouth watering delicious .  I threw in a side of their loaded tater tots, which didn't even make it back to the house, inhaled on the ride back, scrumptious and finger licking good.  I doused this down with an iced tea that was worthy. All in all, making this is a great find and a definite return to location, soonest.

(Updated rating) Found out about this spot from mrchimetime on tiktok and he was definitely right about how good this place was. I ordered a takeout order of the chicken classic combo with orange juice and tots for a total of 16$ (a lil expensive). The chicken biscuit sandwich was great especially the chicken which was crispy and juicy and also the comeback sauce was also pretty good as well. The tots were standard but tasted even better with the comeback sauce. The orange juice was okay but nothing special. All in all, this place is really good and I woula recommend to all and be open to returning whenever I'm in the area.

My wife and I stopped in before taking a long drive back to DC. The place doesn't accept cash, and you use the kiosks to order, so there is no homey feeling to the place and very little interaction with the staff. The food, nevertheless, was outstanding. I ordered the spicy, handsome biscuit that cost $12+, and it was well worth the money.

Okay another perfect example Yelp should allow 1/2 star ratings. This place is a solid 4 1/2 star joint. But I found that a couldn't round up. But let me say - Go! It was a very decent meal. I found this place by someone posting something on social media a while ago. I happen to keep a folder of places I want to visit the next time in an area. Today was the day I chose this for my dining pleasure. The place kinda shocked me. I just assumed a sit down joint, but that was my mistake. No inside dining but a nice patio area and today was a great day. As for our meals. I had the HELLA FITZGERALD - combo. I also added a fried egg and chose the biscuit instead of a roll. It was so thick and full. I ended up eating it with a knife and fork instead of trying to pick it up by hand and it all falling all over the place. I enjoyed it a lot. It was very good. As for the wifey she chose the CHICKEN VERDE - combo. Also needed to eat with a knife and fork. It looked really good even though I didn't try any of it. The wife liked it a lot as well and really liked the sauce that was put on it. Let me say the two ladies working today (3/14/24) busted their butts getting the meals out and it was fairly busy. They did a great job and we got our meals very timely. So again, let me say despite my four-star rating. This is a solid place to enjoy a nice lunch meal. Go and enjoy the next time you're in the area or perhaps you live in the area and just haven't given it a shot - do so.

It's been a long time since we have been, and while our visit was good, it feel likes it isn't what it used to be. The photo of the biscuit in the plastic container is what we get now.

We found this spot just by accident while just riding around. Read the menu and ordered. Small little business with gorgeous outside seating. The staff was very nice and patience. Our order was made quick and when I tell you delish! Delicious!! I'm hooked!!

The food is everything you could ask for in a biscuit! The least dry biscuit ever ! The downside is they forgot my bacon and no inside seating, but the bathroom is cute.

It's been 7 whole years since I enjoyed a handsome biscuit, today proved the consistency remains in both food quality and service after all of this time. The restaurant was cleaned and bathroom was also clean and fresh.

This was a nice find in Norfolk, I ordered the Shorty with bacon (you could also get sausage or both bacon and sausage) and the loaded tots have gravy, cheese and bacon, both were very good. This is a to go spot, they do have picnic tables outside as an option. Definitely recommend!

I've driven past here a couple of times and finally tried it today. All I can say is WOW, totally exceeded my expectations. This is a take out place, when you enter, there's a kiosk to order. Or you can place your order ahead and time and pickup. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hella fitzgerald is a must, moist and just the right amount of sweetness that didn't feel overboard. Loaded hash tots melt in your mouth, chicken was tender and didn't feel super heavy, and the mimosa was also amazing! There's so much to try, I'll definitely be back for more!

The current Handsome biscuit is a far cry from the Norfolk staple that it use to be. Gone are all the items that made Handsome Biscuit a must go place for breakfast or brunch. Sweet potato biscuits have been replaced with a generic "secret biscuit recipe", gone are the craft sodas, delicious hashbrowns have been replaced with frozen tater tots, thick juicy breaded chicken has been replaced with small, dried out chicken that's mostly breading, a kiosk has replaced friendly smiles and greetings. It's like the owners are sabotaging their own restaurant! Why?!? They've increased prices and decreased quality. At least when Field Guide ended they were still good up until the end. Time to try Biscuit Belly. Hope it's good!

Best biscuit spot I've had in Norfolk. The sweet potato biscuit is really good and you really can't go wrong with any of the options on the menu. My personal favorite hangover spot.

This spot is no frills and pretty delicious. It's got a spot to order and some outdoor seating. Don't get the combos. It seems overpriced for what you get. Grab a sandwich - I got the tomato biscuit with egg. The sweet potato biscuit was pretty soft, but the regular biscuit is better. My tomato biscuit has a really great zesty sauce that went so well with the tomato. My hubs got the Hella Fitzgerald and it was so yummy! Orange juice was fresh and the cold brew was good. It was a nice little spot to stop by.

While visiting town to look for houses for our upcoming move to town, I had to stop into handsome biscuit after seeing the reviews and pictures! I decided to build my own biscuit because I wasn't too sure that I wanted something heavy before a big day of traveling around. I decided to go with a sweet potato biscuit, fried chicken, and pickles. It was really good, I only wish I would have added a sauce for some more flavor added to it. The chicken and biscuit were absolutely incredible- the biscuit was so soft & perfectly baked. I ordered online & my order was ready as soon as I showed to pick it up- super quick and convenient. It's not a big place inside so it's best to take your order to go- although there is seating offered outside that I would have used if I wasn't on the go. I can't wait to move here and have more sandwiches off their menu!

Just finished an awesome workout, and needed to load up on carbs. Husband and I decided to stop by, and see what this place has to offer. I want to start off by saying there are a lot of great reviews for this place. There should be! This place is delicious. So instead of telling you about everything good, I will point out some key things that will help you if you're planning to visit. This location is tiny in the inside, so if you're planning to order as a group, I suggest looking ahead on the menu so one person can order. Service was great, and the staff work really hard to bust out ordered from DoorDash and in person. So please be kind if there's a little wait. There's no indoor seating, so please be prepared to sit outside. Summer is near, so that can be hot. However, they do have nice shady canopies to protect you from the sun. You can have a group outside since the tables are pretty big benches. Other than that, everything was delicious. My biscuit was soft and flaky. I couldn't order the sweet potato biscuit because they needed to make more, and I was in a time crunch. I will be back to try them soon.

Look for somewhere to eat. My coworker tried to reach out to resolve this issue, but of course no one wants to take the blame. Ordered for the first time. Was not impressed. I paid almost $7 for this little chicken tortilla breakfast wrap. They didn't deliver my watermelon lemonade. They put the bare minimum ingredients in the wrap. Bland. Im assuming their sauces are supposed to be the what tops off this petite wrap. Not seeing how they received 5 stars. Maybe their employees wrote the reviews.

We grabbed breakfast here on the way home and it was really good. The chicken was extremely tender and flavorful and the staff were friendly and explained the menu to us. A couple things to note: this is take-out only. The biscuits are packed with stuff (which is good!) so it was impossible to eat in the car. We raced back to our hotel to make sure our chicken and tots stayed crispy. Also, the chicken is a mix of white & dark meat. My husband is not a fan of dark meat and was a little disappointed but I loved it. If I'm ever back in the area, I would definitely stop in again!

For a good, quick, and inexpensive breakfast sandwich, I would definitely recommend Handsome Biscuit. I came here with my sister and brother-in-law. They ordered the Nashville sandwich with tots and waffle fries, plus an additional egg, and a side of their Comeback sauce. I order their Hella Fitzgerald with a side of tots with Comeback sauce. Loved their chicken. It was juicy and not overcooked. The biscuits were fresh out the oven so eating it as a sandwich got really messy. I would recommend using a fork and knife. The tots were crispy and paired well with their tangy Comeback sauce. We also ordered their Mimosa, personally I add the OJ to my mimosa for the taste and not the color that I literally couldn't taste the alcohol. Also there's no indoor seating just patio but do expect a quick turnaround time because they pop these sandwiches out fast. Needless to say, Handsome Biscuit is still worth the try whenever you are in Norfolk.

Absolutely scrumptious sandwiches the customization is endless or you can stick to something already on the main lineup. Service is quick next to no wait and friendly workers will assist you if you need help ordering or recommendations. I got the Hella Fitzgerald, Dirty South and Cookie Cream Pie. The chicken is delicious best around here personally I do have higher standards for fried chicken coming from Kentucky the southern expectation is difficult to meet which in this case it checks almost every box if only they had a spicy breaded chicken option. To give a better understanding it tastes not processed like main food chain restaurants tend to do it has a more homemade flavor if that makes sense. Don't skimp out on dessert the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with a generous portion of cream cheese the perfect pairing to end your meal with. Last note no dine in seating but there's an outdoor patio provided which makes for a great outdoor eating experience. Back for more? I think so!

Disappointed. Our party of 11 found this food inedible. The chicken was too salty, and the other food was dull at best. It was also greasy. We spent $100 on a breakfast that we had to throw away. Hoping to save somebody a pretty expensive, yet disappointing breakfast.

Always delicious. We break away from our route and make a stop here when we can. The sandwiches are each delicious in their own flavor way.

Decided to grab breakfast before getting on the road and came across Handsome biscuit. There were several great options which made decoding pretty difficult. The man who was there was very helpful explaining the different options and the sauces. Opted for the hot honey biscuit with waffles fries and an ice coffee. There's no inside seating but it was a nice day to enjoy breakfast at the picnic tables especially since they have shades to help limit the sun. Everything was cooked perfect and served fresh and hot. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town!

Came for a Hella Fitzgerald, left happy! We were so surprised to come on a Sunday morning and not have a crazy line or wait, but didn't complain! We ordered and got our food almost immediately. I got the Hella Fitzgerald, which sounded so good and seemed to be one of the most popular things on the menu. When ordering on the little iPad (not my favorite system as it seems way less personable), I had the option to choose the traditional sweet potato biscuit or the buttermilk biscuit. They are known for the sweet potato, but the buttermilk is only available occasionally. I opted for the normal sweet potato since I've never been here before and wasn't disappointed. The sandwich was very yummy, but honestly not quite as mind-blowing as I expected. It was nicely sized though and not too crazy. Definitely could finish in one sitting. Next time, I'll try one of the lunch sandwiches!

I hadn't been since pre-Covid, but decided to check it out the other day. It was better than I remembered. They've gone to touchscreen kiosks to put in your order, but there is staff there if you want to order with a human lol. There was only a 7-10 minute wait from ordering to pickup. The staff is pleasant and helpful, if you have questions about the menu. My food was hot and tasty! I got the Stevie with bacon and a fried egg on a buttermilk biscuit. They also have sweet potato biscuits and buns available. Because I was traveling, I got the mustard and honey on the side so I could pour it in my biscuit once I got ready to dive in. I also got the coffee, which is self-serve, and hash-tots (basically seasoned tater tots). I forgot to order a side of collards...guess I'll have to go back! Check out the Handsome Biscuit! Your tastebuds will thank me :-)

Every vacation, we always search for the best biscuit. This place has great chicken, but could add some flavor to the biscuit. Food (4/5): the biscuit didn't taste like a biscuit. It was orange, flavorless, and soft on the outside and inside. The Stevie's chicken was really good. The pickle brine and sauce was amazing and really made the sandwich. My bf got the Hella Fitzgerald and thought the same thing about the biscuit consistency. Service (5/5): Tatiana runs a tight ship! She was on top of every order, making people feel welcomed, and chatting with the locals while filling orders. She was amazingly fast. Our food came out pretty fast too! We assume the cooking staff comes in early to pre-make the chicken so they can fill the sandwich orders fast enough! Parking (4/5): there was 11 parking spots available that seem to never be available. There is plenty of street parking within a 5 min radius. When you wait in line, you end up in the parking lot. We had to jog away from a car coming at us trying to cut through the parking lot to skip a corner. Ambiance (4/5): there are some picnic tables outside, no indoor seating.. barely any room for 3 parties to stand inside too. When we went, it was really hot outside, so we waited a little bit for a picnic table to open up with an umbrella.

Nice local place...a Norfolk Police Officer recommended it to me! Small lot & location, I was immediately greeted when I entered, and I was helped out with my order at their counter, being my first time there. Waiting for my order, is when I noticed the 'lobby' ordering station, and also started checking out the other 'Yelp' reviews & menu! I went with a classic chicken, Nashville hot on a sweet potato biscuit with hash tots and OJ! The food was great, I will mos def be back to try out other items, and would recommend having a good appetite!

The place is great! The biscuits are da ! The workers are pleasant & willing to help (I even saw one person give a customer a sample of pimento cheese) ! They also gained cool points with the ease of placing my order. The outside sitting area is on point; shaded and plenty of seating. I'll be back. No question!

Cool spot- my first time here. I wasn't a HUGE fan of the sweet potato biscuit, although I think I just don't like sweet potato biscuits, so it's obviously a personal issue with me (haha!). To start, you place your own order on one of their two iPads, and then you can either wait inside (a teeny lobby) or outside in their spacious and gorgeous sitting area. My girlfriend and I both got the shorty, and it was good (again I didn't love the sweet potato biscuit- that's on me). My girlfriend said they wished it had some sauce of some sort on it, but you can add that on your own if you'd like. I personally thought it was fine without. We also got some extra crispy tots with the "Comeback Sauce" and it was so yummy to dip the tots in the sauce! I don't know if I'll come back for more, although I'm not opposed to coming with a group and sitting outside for an extended brunch on a nice day. It's such a cute spot!!

Breakfast biscuits oh you had me there and coming here did not disappoint as the flavors were totally here! That hot chicken had all the flavors it needed to be scrumptious and those biscuits were just perfect as they had some crunch and held up to that strong flavor of the chicken and pickles making for one yummy breakfast! Their waffle fries however were soggy and kinda underwhelming and definitely not worth the price for them had I know this we wouldn't have ordered them as no one likes soggy fries! Overall this was an awesome little hole in the wall spot with some delicious options who knows when or if I'll get here again but if I lived in the area I'd totally come here all the time!

After living in Norfolk for 5 years you get a feel for the best spots to eat. This is the BEST brunch place if you're looking for a fried chicken sandwich. Don't sleep on their monthly flavored sodas or their brownies and cookies. Warning you may be in a food coma for the rest of the afternoon but worth it Sweet potato biscuits have a nice density to them; differ from regular white flour biscuits in that they are sweeter, less milk flavor, but less flaky and more homogenous structurally overall. Fried chicken is THICK - no skimping~ juicy, crispy chicken thigh with dense breading. STEVIE The above with whole grain mustard, honey and pickles. The mustard gives a nice kick with great crunchy texture from the small seeds, and the sourness from the pickles is a good complement and cuts through the fatty richness of the chicken. The honey is a sweet addition to bring everything texturally together and gives you that salty sweet combo. HELLA FITZGERALD The star of the show imo, sausage gravy, bacon and cheese. This will knock you OUT and it is 100% worth it. Lots of savory, salty flavors here and will cure your hangover right up MONTHLY SODAS They make in-house their own sodas with interesting flavors, from fresh strawberry, to peach, to pumpkin in the fall and they're always pleasantly sweet, very fizzy, and not artificial tasting by any means. One of the highlights here for sure BROWNIE - like all their desserts - dense, sweet, rich. Consider splitting this with someone else. Soft, fudgy and very sweet.

Handsome Biscuit is one of my favorite places to go when I'm in the mood for something that'll fill me up! Their portions are pretty generous in my opinion and definitely filling. I ordered the Stevie and waffle fries and tried all the different sauces they offered and absolutely loved it! Their service was super quick and they were very nice. We ordered in and ate outdoors. The outside area was slightly shaded but it was perfect weather. Had it been hotter I think we may have ordered to go but will definitely be coming back!

Tight little wait area but food was good and quick! The dolly madison has fresh strawberry jam however the biscuit didn't taste too much like a sweet potato. Service was great!
