I always choose this hotel over staying in central Tokyo when I have an early international connection the next morning. Being located directly inside Haneda Airport Terminal 2, the location is unbeatable.
<Dining & Value>
Because of this premium location, the prices at the hotel restaurant seem significantly inflated. However, since the airport terminal offers a wide range of dining options and convenience stores, those who don't want to overspend at the hotel can easily eat elsewhere.
<Room Quality & Amenities>
The guest rooms are exceptionally clean, which is the most important factor for me. For a place to simply sleep, it is more than sufficient. However, I did notice a few minor drawbacks:
Tech Lag: It feels a bit outdated that the bedside outlets still lack USB ports.
Packaging: The toothbrushes and amenities in the bathroom use paper packaging. While eco-friendly, some appeared damp or wrinkled, making me wonder if they had been splashed previously.
<Service & Staffing>
I have noticed a recent increase in non-Japanese front desk staff. While they are functional, there are two main issues:
Communication: There is a lack of "hospitality through conversation." They seem to lack the linguistic flexibility for small talk or personable interactions.
Logistics: I encountered some difficulty when shipping luggage from the cloakroom, as the staff struggled with the complexities of the shipping forms.
If this hotel aims to be a high-end establishment, I would expect a level of Japanese proficiency that goes beyond just passing the JLPT N1—I’m looking for the ability to engage in natural, human connection.
<Final Verdict>
Despite my "salty" critiques, the convenience and cleanliness remain top-tier. These are the most vital elements for an airport hotel, so I will continue to stay here. I simply hope to see these small details improved in the future.
