What a great local venue for original live music... Live music every night of the week. My husband and I stopped in for a Wednesday night with Bill Baker. Great original tunes. And then the jazz guitar player, Rick Whitehead started a set.... Unbelievable local talent. As musicians ourselves, we love how Hank Deitles suports local original artists and gives them a great venue to play. Drinks are great. And food is ok.

I love Hank's local roadside bar vibe, where it also feels like Cheers, where everybody truly knows your name. High quality live music featuring local talent every night and a cozy but packed dance floor. Always something tasty on tap (I love Chesapeake cider personally). Small but decent food menu and you're allowed to carry in food from the restaurant next door. Reasonable prices!

I had heard about this place through social media and I love live music so of course we had to stop on our way through Maryland on 4th of July. We saw Banjer Dan. This was a 5:30p show on the holiday so there weren’t too many people to start but more trickled in as it got later. I was expecting the place to be bigger but it is the perfect size for intimate music experiences. It reminded me somewhat of the Purple Fiddle in WV - if you’re a music enthusiast like I am, take a drive over there too when you get a chance. We sat at the bar and had a couple drinks while we enjoyed the music. Seth was the bartender and he was awesome. It felt like we were one of this regulars even tho we were there for the first time. Our bar neighbors were friendly too - there’s a very welcoming energy here. We only had drinks and didn’t eat anything although they do have a food menu. I saw someone with nachos and they looked good. They had several beers and a cider on tap as well as cans/bottles including non-alcoholic beverages. Parking was a shared lot with the neighboring coffee shop and there were plenty of spots. This was a free show and I just want to say when you go to free events like this be sure to tip the musicians. They have live music here all the time. Check the website or social media for who will be performing or just stop in and check out someone new. We had a really good time and I am sure I will be back in the future.

Came for the first time yesterday and enjoyed relaxing with some local music after work! They have a good selection of drinks, including non-alcoholic options. I really enjoyed the hummus with bread knots. It seems like there are a lot of regulars, but I didn’t feel out of place at all. Looking forward to going back!

Good sandwiches. Some great music but the rude dancers ruin it. Extremely small. If you want to listen or see good music dont go here.

Love this place! While so much of MoCo has been built up, this place is a gem. I hope it stays this way for a long time to come! Always have a great time and the live music is awesome.

Had a great time checking out the live band Cravin' Dogs and my first time at Hank Dietle's Tavern. Great staff. Great beer. Great vibe. Plenty of parking outside but I didn't drive 🙃 fantastic live music venue. I will come back and try the food.

Hank Dietle's is a friendly music venue located in Maryland on Rt 355 between White Flint Mall (closed) and the Strathmore. They host up to two live performances daily of mostly local talent. Online schedules and YouTube can be very helpful in pre-checking out performers to find those that suit your individual taste. Dancing is encouraged when there are dance bands. Beer, wine, and pre-made sub sandwiches are available for purchase. Tickets for popular performances may be purchased in advance with the Eventbrite app. Other performances may have no cover but tipping the performers is highly encouraged.

Always enjoy the music and atmosphere there. They keep a tavern ambience. Go there for the music and friendly atmosphere - laid back Happy Hour. Decent beer selection. I would suggest the tavern to replace the high top table chairs (felt like the seat was pushing you out..but maybe that was to get you out on the dance floor?).

Hank's hosted a great show from the "Oxymorons" followed by the headliner "The Thangs" and it was a show! Intimate and perfect for dancing and drinking beer! Glad they are back from the Ashes!

Awesome night with good people enjoying good live music with Paulie Boy Blues Band doesn't get much better. Real slice of Maryland and Americana! I will definitely be returning.

Cozy and unique spot in this neck of the woods. Good beer selection; food's nothing special--chips & salsa and sandwiches. Show up for the music but be early. Seating's limited and only one person was working the bar, switching the kegs and serving the food (tip well!). The menu's electronic and it's on the wall, so you'll either have to position yourself advantageously, or yell over the music and hope the order's correct. (It usually is, but not always. Roll with it.) As others have noticed, it's a friendly crowd, which makes a big difference in the vibe with a place this size. They rigorously maintain their events calendar, so keep an eye on it and you'll find something to like. Support the small guys!

What is not to like? Friendly and welcoming environment. Great music here on the regular. Worth a stop in.

What a surprise in the middle of upper Bethesda/Rockville. This joint is more like a pub with an emphasis on music...from what I can tell, they have constant highly talented musicians rotating through here. The main genre here is the music since the food offerings suffice but wouldn't be the reason to drop in. Come early since it gets packed and order yourself a beer(no fancy drinks here, keep it simple) kick back and relax. Enjoy the music!

Cool scene, especially if you enjoy live music. Crowd trends older. Menu is sparse but cheap. Fine beer options. Recommend for those who love bar bands and wish to support local musicians. The bar has an interesting history too.

Cool music venue. Arrived late, so didn't try the food, but seemed relatively unique based on the menu.

This is a really nice little establishment on Rockville Pike for good local music. It was easy to park when we got there (shared lot with Java Nation), and the staff were very friendly when we arrived. Their shows are posted online, and you can check which shows have covers or not there, and we chose a show with a $10 cover. It was easy to find a seat, but it gets busier as it gets closer to the time for the headliner's performance. They have a kitchen as well as beer, which is open until midnight, but we just got a couple of brews. They have both cans and beer on tap, and I was able to get a couple of local beers for $7 each. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, since it has a rather unique vibe, but it seems like Hank's has a healthy crowd of regulars and the music was really quite good.

Hank Dietle's Tavern is serving cold beer again! When a devastating fire in 2018 put this bar out of commission, the longest running bar in Montgomery County (and it's first liquor license) was no more. Alas, after three years and lots of struggles faced with great determination, Hank Dietle's is open again since Friday, July 24, 2021. The tavern offers live music and drinks, and the new owners have even added a small menu. It's a fun little place, and I'm so glad that its sign is lit again!

Hank Dietle's has been renovated and is a little oasis on the congested Rockville Pike. The new co-owners are doing a fabulous job of recruiting bands. There's always a band during Happy Hour (no cover) and then another band at Night-time (modest cover). They sell beer, wine, sandwiches and chips 'n dip. The customers are nice and typically middle-aged or older; the co-owners and staff are wonderful. It's definitely chill; has a nice, comfortable atmosphere; and is a good place to make friends. I highly recommend it.

Had a great time at Hank Dietle's last night. Great live music, friendly crowd and nice staff. Really appreciate that they screen people for vaccination and give you a wrist band when you've shown your card. It keeps everyone safe and ensures that we can all keep on dancing! Will Be back.

One goes to Hank's for the live music. Seven days a week evenings and on weekends sometimes in the afternoon. Rock, jazz, zydeco, folk, alt... Also a decent sports bar. And if you and your buds just want to BS and sip brew, can't think of a better place.

Such a fun hangout! Love live music? This is the place! Such a fun evening! Good people, good beer! Highly recommend!

A great place, they have overflow parking up on security lane. And for those Bayer's who don't have their vaccination cards, they broadcast their shows online via Facebook live. My advice to them is just go pop some popcorn and watching the shows online.

I just moved into the area three weeks ago and discovered this gem! Not for the food, but live music seven days a week! And some very fine performers! Actually, it's unbelievable. It looks like a die from the outside, but a great soundboard for performers, and a very amicable atmosphere. I've returned six evenings of my three weeks here. Ed

ABS DISGRACE. My family has been coming to this place for years before it burned down. We returned recently to check it out after dinner. We were denied service because we weren't vaccinated. You can go to war for your country but you can't even get a beer at a bar - truly sad times we are living in.

Great music venue, but eat beforehand. Very small menu selection and no modifications. So eat either before or after the shows.
