Yelp
"If it ain't Hank's, no thanks!"
That's the tagline for Hank's and we can definitely see why. We literally just pulled up on a whim and we're surprised to find a small building packed with cars all around.
Stepped inside to a line of people snaking through the restaurant to place their orders. It was a steady flow of people. The place is fairly decent in size with 3 seating areas- one being a bar. The inside is colorful, clean and inviting. Unfortunately the wait for the food was LONG. We waited about an hour BUT they made it up to us. :)
The people were really kind. This place is obviously known for their smoked meat but my family prefers non-smoked and we honestly went straight for the fried wings. Here's what we ordered:
3 entrees of fried wings with Hank's sauce, Buffalo Sauce and Yellow Bone.
The sauces were just drizzled on the wings, it wasn't fully coated, so definitely different. The Hank's sauce reminded us a bit of a honey mustard. Yellow Bone was actually a bit similar but with a hickory taste.
Sides were fried okra, Mac n cheese, and baked beans. We asked for a cornbread muffin but alas, they were out.
Fried okra - great! Mac n cheese wasn't saucy but it was good. Real simple. Baked beans were tangy and sweet - delicious!
We also ordered Nachos with chopped brisket - this was fun to eat because the Nachos were literally Doritos Nacho Cheese with gooey cheese and brisket. Kids especially enjoyed it.
Lastly, we ordered a seafood Mac n cheese with shrimp and crawfish. Similar to the regular but it had seafood and Cajun seasoning sprinkled on it.
Oh, and let's not forget our Smoked Ribs! I know we said we don't like smoked but when we saw these come out, we couldn't resist. We liked it but I promise you if you like smoked meat, you'll LOVE this. Our family is just weird like that. Haha.
We asked for the loaded baked potato but they were out of potato.
The wings entree were listed as $15 for six wings and one side. Ribs were a 3 piece. Looking at the sides, we made the assumption that the price was a bit pricey comparable to the portions. But, when the food came out, we noticed they gave us 8 wings per order instead of 6 and 4 ribs instead of 3. Score!
And you know how I said they made the wait time up to us? A nice lady came by and said "I heard you guys had ordered some corn bread but we were out. We have a bit now and I can bring some." She literally brought out two scrumptious slightly sweet slices of their cornbread.
For them to even remember we ordered cornbread an hour prior and offer it without taking payment- that's customer service!
Overall, we were happy and here's your opportunity for a better day as well. Go check it out!
