The Best Meat-and-Three Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Hannah’s Kitchen is open for both breakfast and lunch, but it’s during the latter meal where the home-style cooking of a meat and three really shines. Simply choose your protein, like baked chicken, fried fish, country fried steak, or meatloaf, then your two sides, including black-eyed peas, mac and cheese, fried okra, and turnip greens. That lunch plate also comes with cornbread or a dinner roll and costs just under $10." - Sarra Sedghi

I'm a simple man. I see bacon and eggs, I eat. The menu is not the largest but it has the essentials. And it's fresh and delicious. The portion size is large, the bacon is thick and crispy, and the hash browns are the perfect blend of crispy and soft. This plate was less than $7! I will be coming here every morning while I'm in town for work. We need more of this in America.

Favorite lunch spot 😋. Country style food. Made fresh daily. All meals include a drink. You won't miss with the baked chicken, meatloaf, or chicken pot pie. I believe their mashed potatoes are home made yum. 😋

This isn't a five-star atmosphere in a fancy way- it's the perfect homage to a No-Frills diner experience if you're a person who remembers the old hole in the wall style place with fondness and you like your eggs cooked perfectly, well seasoned gravy, and a damn tasty biscuit then this is the place for you. Anytime I'm in the area when they're open, I will be there. I'm not going to add a photo because there's nothing I could post that would make it any better than it already is. Thanks for a fantastic meal at a great price, quick service, and a wonderful cup of just regular coffee. 100% recommend.

Google
Hannah's Kitchen is the best deal in Atlanta. $11 for a meat entree plus 2 sides plus cornbread AND drink. The best dishes are baked chicken (best I've ever had), beef tips & rice (best I've ever had) and pork chops. The entree/side dishes list changes daily, so you won't get bored with the same food each day. We need more places like this. I eat here 3-4 times a week. They have customers who eat both breakfast AND lunch everyday of the week. Customer services is friendly and super fast. You can be in and out of there within 30 minutes full and satisfied.

Oh my oh my oh my! Where do I began with this escapade. I asked what something was in the food laid out at the counter. I was told it was Salisbury steak. I thought, I haven’t had that in a long time. Mostly because no one cooks it anymore. So I said I’ll try it. I went with okra and black eyed peas to round it out. Well, let’s start with black eyed peas. They were very good. They even seemed fresh, even though I’d never aged they’re frozen. I was impressed! The okra however was another story. They were clearly frozen. It was the chewiest okra I’ve ever ver had! And I’m not talking about older okra that is just hard to chew because of the plant material just being tough. I mean it was chewy like chewing gum. I peat okra I’ve had in years!! Then to the “steak”. I’m not sure the hell the “steak” is. I’m not sure if it was meat, vegetable, or even organic at all. It was mushy and just horrible!! The only thing that helped was copious amounts of gravy. Rest assured I’ll not be back. The reason for 2 stars is because the people were friendly. Service was quick, although I came early and no one was in line. The place was clean although dated. I noticed a sign talking about potentially raising the cost because produce prices were going up. Guess what? If you buy plates and silverware instead of giving everyone to go boxes and utensils, your prices would go down. The cost per patron would go down.

Google
I've eaten here for breakfast and the price paid at the time was very reasonable for the amount of food. Today I stopped in for lunch, Ordered a lunch special item that included 1 side and I added a drink...it cost 25.00 .. I literally ordered a square size of baked ziti, a spoon full of rice, and a bottle of juice for 25.00..never again!

Google
It was a typical hash house. The eggs were between over easy and medium. I ordered the turkey sausage links, but they served me the pork sausage patties.

Google
Food is playing with little than no flavor. Unless you’re starving and want big portions with no flavor that I would recommend eating somewhere else in your typical little hole in the wall, very plain interior. People are somewhat kind. But I only ate here once and whenever he here again.

Yelp
It was hot delicious and seasoned real well. The service was excellent as always. The restaurant was clean and well maintained.

Yelp
Ate lunch there today. Great food! Great price! Cafeteria style. Will definitely eat there again. I want to try their breakfast.

Yelp
Excellent. Went for breakfast to have a change of scenery. My husband ordered French toast with extra crispy bacon. We was thrilled. He LOVES pipping hot food and he got it. Loved his crispy bacon! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on white toast. I also asked for crispy bacon on the side... It actually came on the sandwich which is completely fine because it was very crispy. We will be back. Great service as well and good cleaning protocols after customers left.

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
Nothing special breakfast and they got the order wrong, bare bones interior . The biscuit was ok

Kevin T.

Yelp
Hidden gem with good prices and quality food and good quantity as well. Will be back! Great service overall.

Yelp
This place is the best place for the value. $10 (cash) will get you an entree with 2 side dishes, plus bread and drink! Best deal in Atlanta. The food is excellent also. Their baked chicken is better than any other place I've tried. Pork chops on Friday are also excellent. The collard and turnip greens (served on different days) are very tasty. They usually have 6-8 entrees to choose from everyday and they don't skimp on the portions. The service is phenomenal. You can go through the hot line and be seated at the table within 3 minutes.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food great price and a large portion. Very good homemade food. Service was quick. Went back a second day.

Yelp
Great prices and even better breakfast. When I am in the area for business I normally call in my order and they never disappoint me.

Yelp
Friendly staff! Great portions, could use some extra seasoning in some dishes, but overall a great little spot by my workplace! Always a reliable lunch spot!

Yelp
A pleasant surprise! Hubby and I were in the area looking for a breakfast spot. Yelp showed good reviews, so we gave it a try. Note: At first we were not sure we were in the right place as we were looking for the store sign that says Hannah's Place. The sign reads Home Cooking. On the actual door it does say Hannah's place. The restaurant was very clean and may be family run. You stand in line and order from a breakfast menu board with 5 options (photos as well), makes it very easy to place your order. There's also a few options on the side as well. Staff was very friendly, helpful and quick service. They bring the food out to your table and I was so excited that not only it tasted great, but it was very hot! It's hard to get breakfast served hot! I was thrilled! It was not waiting around in the back for a server to bring it, it was cooked and immediately served. Great job! It looks like for lunch they serve 1 meat and 2 veggie meals. We will be back to try those. I've already told a friend about this place. It's not fancy, just a normal good breakfast for a great value! We both really enjoyed it. I even told one of the staff members that we were impressed. Oh and their sweet tea was great!!!
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Best little spot ever! Quick serving, cheap breakfast!!! Less than $5 for eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes!!! Can't go wrong! Restaurant is very clean.

Yelp
Located in a shopping center off of Breckinridge Blvd and Old Norcross Rd Hannah's Kitchen is a gem. It's homestyle food and atmosphere is both relaxing and inviting. It's a family owned and operated business and they never disappoint. Breakfast: They offer simple staples such as, biscuits and gravy, croissant breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, french toast and biscuit breakfast sandwiches (and more). The food is made to order and they are quick and efficient. Lunch: Everyday they have different meats and sides. These items are homestyle southern foods like fried chicken, country fried steak, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, etc. They give youan entree and two sides with a drink as their lunch special and it's worth it! They give you huge portions and the food is great. With a price like theirs and exceptional customer service it's hard to beat! I recommend giving Hannah's Kitchen a try!

Yelp
The only reason I am rating two stars is due to the YEARS of good service that I have received here. However, today I ordered breakfast over the phone for pick up. A total of four meals that took about a minute and a half to order over the phone. When I arrived, the worker (who I have seen MANY times) told me that we shouldn't take so long ordering over the phone, that he had customers waiting and we were holding him up. He then went on to say that he had "told us this many times, but we still choose not to." I am not sure if he was just understaffed or in a foul mood, but I unfortunately don't feel comfortable spending my money here any more. Which is a shame considering I work about 3 minutes down the road, and usually eat here 1-2 times a week for breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
This place is legit home style. It's the kind of healthy food that you can eat everyday if you work nearby. Not only it tastes good but I think the best part is how cheap it is! You won't believe the variety and the amount of food you get for how much you pay! Best value for breakfast in the area.

Diana C.

Yelp
Perfect place for a quick hot straightforward southern style meal. It's only got a big sign for Home Cooking on the outside in a little shopping center. Portions were gigantic, lunch is $7.50 after tax, 1 meat and two sides, bread and drink. They have a about 6-7 meat choices a day (baked chicken, fried chicken, baked ziti, tilapia, country fried steak etc) and about 12 different sides to pick from I had the baked chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and collards. Really hit the spot. The cornbread is slightly sweet. Standard cafeteria style food and very satisfying. Food is served quickly and there are lots of seats. Easy to take to go. Staff was very nice, will definitely be back.

Yelp
Typical Meat & Three type options. Special of the day was Jambalaya served over rice so I had to give it a try. I expected the rice to count as one of the vegetables but it did not. I was disappointed that the other vegetable options did not seem to go with the Jambalaya although I am a picky eater when it comes to vegetables. Still even if I wasn't I don't think the choices went well together. It would have been nice to be able to choose a dessert instead but that did not seem to be an option either. Jambalaya was ok, not great. I doubt I will return.

Yelp
Inexpensive, quick, and tasty. Clean restaurant. Very polite people. I'm looking forward to coming back, especially for lunch.

Yelp
Hannah's is a great lunch spot if you need an alternative to all the chicken wing, tacos, and pizza joints in the area. The southern cooked food is hot and fresh and the service is fast. For seven bucks including sweet tea it's a good deal. I come for the veggies but their Fried chicken and meatloaf are great! Corn bread is good as well. My favorite place like this is Matthew's in Tucker but I go here because its close to work and is better than most places in the area.
google avatar

Steven J.

Yelp
I come here on a semi-regular basis. Place always has a good amount of food for a good price. The people are always polite. They don't have a broad selection but for the price its worth it to me
google avatar

Davina G.

Yelp
Where can you go in this town to get a home cooked meal with a drink for around $7? At Hannah's you can choose from several stick to your ribs luncheon plates such as meatloaf (my fave), baked or fried chicken, salsbury steak, fried fish and a host of other great sides. Plenty of seating and friendly and expedient service. One of my fave spots for lunch. Breakfast cooked to order is also offered at a steal of a deal.
google avatar

Adam W.

Yelp
Meat and 2 on a budget. The lunch is very well priced for how much food you get.. but it's not gourmet or anything. Everything tastes good, but nothing is going to blow your hair back. Not that I have any. Hi-yo! But the breakfast is seriously awesome. Great croissant and hash browns. I haven't tried the pancakes or french toast yet, but seems like many people order those items. Great people run this place. Very nice and attentive.

Yelp
Always a good hearty meal at a great price. I eat here a bunch and have never been dissatisfied. Eat here if you are in the area!

Fran H.

Yelp
I've been taking my daughter here for breakfast, sit in or take out, since she was in elementary school. She's a rising senior now. I plan to continue eating here with her through her college years and beyond, as long as the french toast n bacon stays consistent.!! This is a great neighborhood spot!!

Keila B.

Yelp
This food did nothing for me. I went here with colleagues in November of 2015 and I had the baked chicken, green, some kind of rice au gratin & roll. I don't understand how this is considered good food. The chicken was a bit salty and the rice was bland. I gave it a 2 because the greens were edible & my colleagues swear by the cornbread.
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
I really like the food at Hannah's! Straight forward, tasty and generous helpings make this a easy favorite for lunch. No frills - just good food at a great price.
google avatar

Mark P.

Yelp
Family owned and friendly, I love eating here for breakfast on Saturday and lunch through the week. The food is good with my favorite sides being the broccoli casserole and the fresh tomato salad. Tried the meatloaf last week and that shot straight up to number one (with the fried chicken a close second). You can't beat the price for the amount you receive and I never leave hungry. Lunch gets very busy so come early. My wife loves the french toast on Saturday, and we both use the time at breakfast to catch up on the week. Another post remarked that the food isn't gourmet but for the price it's very good. If you need a break from the typical chain fast food restaurant and just want a moment to relax and refill, this is the place.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Good food and great price! I used to work across the street from this restaurant. On a 30-minute lunch break, I didn't have many options. Hannah's Kitchen is an excellent lunch spot. In just a matter of minutes, I can eat a homecooked meal for under 10 bucks! Mac and cheese, catfish, tillapia, rice, green beans, mashed potatoes, and a cornbread. My favorite items on the menu are the catfish and green beans. Unfortunately, I've changed jobs and this restaurant is no longer conveniently located near me. I miss the food very, very much!
google avatar

Bee T.

Yelp
Decent meat and sides place. The gravy is really good, but skip the rolls and get the cornbread. I also wish the fish was catfish instead of whiting. But for $7 for lunch, it's worth a stop.
google avatar

Muffy F.

Yelp
Came for lunch. I love "meat & 3" places but this is a lower grade one. All veggies look/taste canned.
google avatar

Oliver S.

Yelp
Another weekly lunch spot: pros: - close to work (walking distance) - ok food at a great price - 6,50 for a lunch incl drink - buffet style service, so everything is very efficient I cannot think of anything negative to say about this place, and I am trying hard...
google avatar

Kate T.

Yelp
I expanded my horizons from the last time! Well...I got green beans instead of mac and cheese! YEAH! The corn bread was a little dry this time. Hopefully, I will try a different meat next time I go. Still a good quick lunch spot, awesome price for all the food and the drink.
google avatar

Ash S.

Yelp
Service is always good! They are really nice people. I like the price. It's not over seasoned! Service is fast as well!
google avatar

Surge P.

Yelp
A friend of mine has been telling me about this place for a while now and how good he thinks it is. Well, I decided to go to check it last week and I was very disappointed. My bacon was cold and my waffles tasted like they were frozen and they just threw them in the microwave. I took one bite and grabbed juice and threw it out. Well, i guess I got what I paid for. Cheap breakfast= cheap service and horrible food at least in my case... For those who have had good experience I am happy for you. If you a decent spot, just ping me.
google avatar

Shane P.

Yelp
I work nearby and eat either breakfast or lunch there several times a week. I think its a great value for the money. For lunch, 6.50 gets you a meat, 2 heaping portions of sides and a drink. Their food is consistent and well cooked. Their fried chicken is a huge breast that is moist and tender. Breakfast is cooked to order and done quickly with very little wait. If I had one complaint it would be a little more griddle time for the hash browns. The operators are friendly and the atmosphere is a casual basic diner with all tables, no booths.

Marie W.

Yelp
I haven't been for lunch/dinner but I sure do love the breakfast. It is fairly priced and always good!
google avatar

Allen P.

Yelp
Pretty good stuff. Nothing fancy, just good home style food. Fast and cheap a great place for lunch

Fabulous F.

Yelp
I like this restaurant's "southern cuisine" especially since the "American southern cuisine" restaurants have all but diminished. Not like Granny with her hair up in a bun back in the kitchen making up some good ole Southern biscuits. The owners are Korean. So glad they "revived" a dying food style which is loved by so many especially Southerners! The wife appears not to speak English so she doesn't communicate much while the husband's English is good. Sometimes he's friendly, sometimes not. Really liked the mashed potatoes (was told they were home made not "pearls" or a mix) and the collards depending on who made them. The flavor of the collards isn't always consistent while the baked chicken is generally wonderful and consistent. The price of the lunch is awesome. The menu rotates depending on the day of the week which after a while the same choices get a bit boring. Would be nice if they had a daily " surprise special" or offered some different choices here and there but kept the "best sellers" which would probably include the ones mentioned above.
