20 years ago I installed two Hanover Lantern lights on either side of my front door. Recently I decided I wanted a third one (hopefully somewhat matching) to hang above my garage door. I contacted Hanover and to my amazement, they still sell the exact same model, so I purchased a new one from my local Hanover distributor. The two lanterns I’ve owned have never given me a problem but over the years, as expected, they started to weather. The exterior surfaces faded, and the internal (brass) bulb fixtures became very discolored and cracked in a few places. I contacted Hanover and was amazed by their customer service. The agent told me that I could buy replacement parts for the lanterns I own, and then emailed me a detailed drawing, calling out the individual parts. We went back and forth on email a few times (the agent was always super-helpful and quick to respond), then I ordered the parts I needed. I took my lanterns completely apart, sanded and repainted them, and replaced the damaged and discolored parts with the new ones I purchased. The replacement parts were a small fraction of the cost of a new lantern and now my 20-year-old lanterns look brand-new (picture attached)! Hanover Lantern products are not inexpensive but, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Their products are made of high-quality, rigid materials and are backed by a company that offers excellent customer service. BTW – I spoke to a real person! Oh, and did I mention, they’re made in U.S.A.!
