A mixed bag I read all the previous reviews before i went to the restaurant, and well I prob still say things similar to prior reviews.... Restaurant - the restaurant sits inside one of the oldest hotels of cologne and yes you can feel the vintage atmosphere of it. Food - the food indeed came salty. I decided to try their seasonal menu instead of the lunch set. The cooking was good, but well that is to be expected from this level of restaurant. Service - the staffs are friendly for sure, but unfortunately not professional. I can understand comments from earlier reviews. Verdict : i guess you can give it a miss if you are looking for exceptional fine dining experiences. But if you are looking for a fancy restaurant in this historic town, sure why not? I spent c. 60 euro for 1 main and 1 still water.

Service is impeccable. Food at its finest. The chef always sent me a surprising Amuse-bouche. If the occasion is special, it's my first choice. I feel like a queen. Aristocratic treatment. And meals prepared with high-quality. Pricey but worth it! My favorite restaurant!!!!

I had the tasting menu and really like the leek and salmon. The pigeon and lamb courses could still be improved in my opinion. Meat texture is very well controlled, but the sauce is just acceptable. When I spend so much money in a restaurant, I expect to get at least one course that amazes me a lot...didn't happen here. I believe this is one of the best French restaurant here, but just here in this city.

Incredible restaurant and equally impressive food. We came here for a team dinner and honestly I felt so spoilt. The menu consisted of - Tartar from Veal Cream soup of Chanterelle Flamed Salmon Trout Filet of Beef Peach Variations Absolutely loved every moment of our visit and couldn't want for more. 10/10.

Had a great lunch with a delicious parsley soup and a wiener schnitzel. However, if you go here one must try their roasted goose. It looked and smelled absolutely fantastic. Good enough reason to come back. Excellent service and the location is just beautiful!

All staff I interacted with went above and beyond to make this a wonderful experience. I had breakfast on several days and also visited the bar a number of times. Henrik at the bar did a great job. We were in town for many days and met up with friends from across the world. Henrik ensured that we were always taken care of, and even kept the evening going late for us at our request. This truly added to the trip and I can honestly say that without the exemplary customer service given by Henrik that our enjoyment of the hotel would have diminished. Highly recommend this property!

Great dinner at Hanse Stube, every dish was delicious! We had the A La Carte Menu which consisted of Half dozen Fine de Claire oysters Shallot vinaigrette, chester bread and lemon Crustacean cocktail Cocktail sauce, horseradish, lettuce and mango SCALLOP "SAILOR" White wine, north sea crab, young leek Bodegas y Veñedos Artazu, Navarra Santa Cruz de Artazu Chateaubriand of German pasture-raised beef Cipollini onion, baby carrots, annabelle potato Blood Orange Sorbet Tangerine and Carrot Sorbet Overall, great experience! All the dishes were wonderfully delicious. The staffs are warm and welcoming! A restaurant very deserving of the highest praise 😊

Twice I have eaten here, years apart. The service par none and the food is worth the wait. Of all I had I enjoyed the lamb and potato croquet qithe the red wine pairing. Surprising I would eat the rhubarb desert again and I do not like rhubarb.

Das Essen ist meistens ganz gut, aber... Wenn Sie jemals einen Film aus den 1960er Jahren gesehen haben, in dem ein gehobenes Hotelrestaurant eine Rolle spielt ... dieser Ort versucht, das wieder aufleben zu lassen. Mit dunkler Holzvertäfelung, frischen Blumen, individuell graviertem Besteck, gewölbtem Geschirr, Leinenservietten mit genähten Knopflöchern, flüsterleise und ohne Musik, obwohl der Verkehr am Hauptbahnhof durch die Fenster sichtbar ist. Leider ist der Versuch erfolglos. Langsam tauchen mehrere Probleme auf, angefangen mit dem schwarzen Klebeband, das das Loch im Teppich fast vor dem Haupteingang repariert. "Das ist so ein kleines Detail!" "Nein. Es gibt keine kleinen Details." Die Kellner schienen kompetent, aber ich war zum Mittagessen da, und es waren kaum 20 % belegt. Das Essen selbst war nicht allzu schlecht, aber kleinere Probleme störten mich - wie das getrocknete "frische" Brot, das zum Essen serviert wurde. Vielleicht kann ich das mit den Salz- und Pfefferstreuern beheben, die an jedem Tisch aufgestellt sind. Es ist bedauerlich, dass ein Restaurant mit einer so offensichtlich reichen Geschichte anscheinend verschleudert wurde. Ich werde in ein paar Jahren wiederkommen ... vielleicht. / The food is mostly pretty good, but... If you ever watched a 1960s movie involving a high-end hotel restaurant... this place tries to bring that back.  With dark wood paneling, fresh flowers, custom engraved flatware, dome-covered dishes, linen napkins with sewn button-hole, whisper quiet with no music despite main train station traffic visible through the windows. Unfortunately, the attempt is unsuccessful.  Several problems slowly emerge, starting with the black tape repairing the hole in the carpet almost in front of the main entrance. "That is such a small detail!" "No. There are no small details." The servers seemed competent, but I was there for lunch, with barely 20% occupancy. The food itself was not too bad, but minor problems bothered me - such as the dried "fresh" bread served with the meal.  Maybe I can remedy that using the salt and pepper shakers placed at each table. It is unfortunate that a restaurant with such an obvious rich history appears to have been squandered.  I'll visit again in a few years... maybe. 2024 03 25. M0.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday and made reservations ahead of time just in case. When I arrived I didn't think I was in the right place as there. Is no host stand at the entrance. I had to ask the only person in the room if I was in the right place. I sat in the terrasse and enjoyed an amazing lunch. The service. From that point picked up and was super attentive. They do not rush you so don't be surprised if your order isn't taken quickly. I noticed this too with all the locals dining there too. I would come back because this restaurant exudes class taste and civility in the middle of a bustling city.

I just wanted to thank this restaurant not allowing me and my colleagues to dine at Hanse Stube as we discovered an amazing Michelin Star restaurant under the Excelsior hotel, Taku.

Expensive, pretentious and unhealthy. Nasty, creamy or fried everything's. as a bonus..Staff quite perfunctory and disingenuous. No redeeming features .
