Hanyang Mart

Hanyang Mart is convenient since it’s open 24 hours, and I genuinely appreciate the wide selection of Korean products. They’re well-stocked with items like kimchi, frozen and ready-to-eat meals, and a good variety of Korean beers. There’s even a small restaurant inside, which is a nice touch and makes the store feel more like a one-stop spot. However, I’m giving this place two stars due to a serious food safety concern. I bought a carton of whole milk last night around 8 p.m. The expiration date isn’t until December 27th, but when I opened it this morning for the first time and poured it into my cereal, it smelled sour and tasted sour. I’ve taken photos of the carton, which I’ll be attaching to this review. After thinking about it, I realized the issue likely comes from improper refrigeration in the store. The milk is kept out in an open refrigerated area near the produce section rather than in a closed refrigerator with doors. When you’re actually in the store, you can feel that the milk section isn’t very cold, definitely not as cold as it should be for dairy products. Improper refrigeration would absolutely speed up the spoilage and fermentation process, even if the expiration date hasn’t passed yet. This is a major health concern. Milk is something people consume regularly, and it needs to be stored correctly to be safe. If dairy isn’t being properly refrigerated, it makes me wonder what else in the store might not be stored up to code. Overall, while I like the convenience and product selection, food safety is non-negotiable. This issue alone is significant enough to lower my rating, and I hope the store addresses their refrigeration practices soon.

I used to go he when just was little and it used to be packed with people, a very bustling and inviting energy. Now there's hardly any people, it seems more like a quite local mart than thr bustling little community it used to be. The food stall next to it is great, great food and open 24/7. The vines are great as well. I hope it becomes what it used to be

Have been going to this location for 20+ years and I love the variety. It is one of the only 24 hours asian supermarket still around this area after covid. The cashiers have always been polite to me. Theres a restaurant inside that closes past midnight. I like that its older and more mom and pop than Hmart. Like all supermarkets in the area, if you're a local, you should already know you have to look closely at the produce and pick carefully to avoid spoilage. In my opinion, that is on the consumer's part. Plus, Hmart and a lot of other american supermarkets also have open display refrigerators for dairy. This is normal. Buying dairy from asian supermarkets are a hit or miss because theres so little demand for it in asian day-to-day diets and it may be neglected. I generally would avoid buying milk at asian supermarkets unless its yogurt.

Old school, OG Korean market. They have everything you need for Korean ingredients. There is a seafood section and a place to buy banchans. The fruit and veg selection is fresh.

Review revised : after making a complaint and writing a bad review last time , I think I was wrong here . Most of the employee are older aunts and uncles. Working in service isn’t always easy and they get a lot of crap all the time from customers. Most of the workers are all nice and fishcake guy is nice too. They don’t like people talk to disrespectful just like how you don’t like it either. I think sometimes we all need to reflect in ourselves first before making judgement

Honestly, just come in and check this place out. Its like another hmart.

Their prices were simply fraudulent, and the service staff's attitude was very bad. She actually didn't want to give me a refund. Her attitude was very bad, and she also spoke Korean and insulted customers. She had been coming here all the time, but now she wouldn't, this place is a dump

My mom and I have been to this supermarket by driving there and parked into the parking lot and went inside. This supermarket is mostly selling Asian food, and others. Both of us went in there and bought food like noodles, seafood, vegetables and others.

If you've done most of your shopping for Korean groceries at H-Mart, it's safe to say that you've been spoiled and you probably won't be able to look back. The only redeeming factors about Hanyang: 1. They're open 24 hours 2. Their sushi stand is amazing and reasonably priced 3. Freshly made food selection is better than H-Mart, IMO 4. Their plant selection! Seriously, this honestly is the top reason but I'm too lazy to renumber everything. The rest is up for debate. They have all the produce basics but freshness is a hit or miss. I also find their stocking a bit scattered and not easy to navigate because their space is quite limited for trying to cram many things to sell. Prices are pretty reasonable most of the time, but again, I only come here to quickly pick up things because it's a closer walk from my home than H-Mart. I don't really like their parking lot setup because you have cars going in and out on both sides (one on Northern, which I think is quite unsafe).

I have been wanting to try this spot for years, and I'm so glad that they added a menu in English and more seating since the pandemic. They have added outdoor private booths with a call button and air conditioning; booths can comfortably fit 6-8 adults. The service was fast, and I appreciate the staff patience with me as I debated on what to order. The food did not disappoint. Between 2 people, we had the stir fried intestines and spicy braised chicken. It was definitely enough food, even though we were tempted to try more things. The spicy braised chicken was tender, soup was flavorful, and the dish was not too spicy (maybe a mild - medium spice level). The best part of the stir-fried intestines for me was the tripe and grilled garlic. The texture was on point. My favorite was their free kimchi and radish, it taste way more delicious and different than the free banchan at other restaurants. Their kimchi and radish had a different level of umami to it that makes me wonder what they added to make it taste so different. This is a place I will add on my rotation of restaurants and a go-to for late night food.

The lady that works there all the time truly takes care of you. We ordered the Army Stew and Bossam and both were really good. They have both seating inside and booths outside and it's all really nice. It was great for a late night snack!

This is like an ode to the very first Hmart lololol. This is a very very awesome market. Hmart is more modernized but this place retains their original customers. They also have random food stands, a must visit! If you want a cultural experience, definitely come tour!!! The prices are ok; some things are less than Hmart's.

not good at all. I ordered some frozen food online, and it took a week to receive. Most of the items received were either melted or damaged and inedible.

My mom really loves grocery shopping and she definitely took advantage of Hanyang's One Day Cash Back sale which happens every 15th of the month! Good thing they have their own parking lot like most of their competitors...H Mart which is nearby. Actually, I have never been to this Korean supermarket but my Q28 bus has passed it so many times while heading towards Main St's direction. Hanyang definitely advertised throughout this Flushing location for their one day sale! There are fresh vegetables and fruits, fresh cuts of meats toward the back...some labeled with Manager's Special, dried products, so many different noodles (japchae, vermicelli just to name a few), so many different hot pepper in sauce or paste form, there was a section for their fish market, Korean snacks and beverages, and etc. Also, there were food stands where these older ladies were cooking samples for customers to try as well as promoting the products that Hanyang sells at this location. I didn't try any because of my food allergies. Food Stamps are accepted here but make sure you don't check-out at a cash-only lane! If you purchase $39, you get a $5 cash back so we were short of $6 at the check-out. I asked the cashier to not take anyone until I get back. I grabbed another pack of the Binggrae Samanco Ice Cream Sandwich (Red Bean Flavored) along with a pack of Hi-Chew. Phewww...luckily there was no one in line after us. My parents also sign up for their rewards card too. The cash back is valid until 6/29/2019!

Great Korean supermarket. My wife and I come here after 7pm. There is a store in the back left corner that sells food at an up to 50% off after 7pm. Korean fried chicken for less than $5 for 8 wings. Amazing deal.

The good thing about this supermarket is that it's opened 24/7 which is rare to find these days. The service/staff of this place is a little off. Tbh, I'm not sure of the quality of the produce here, but I do like the fact that they have a little dessert spot inside the market and also love the roasted sweet potato that's sold right before you enter the space. FYI- you do have to pay with the cashier inside the market to come back outside to get the sweet potato order. This is not the place where you're gonna get a positive experience thru staff, but they do have a lot to offer. They have a wide variety of everything. I love that they sell Christmas trees during the winter season. Smells so nice! I also love that they sell plants right on the side front of the market.

This is a review for a small bakery stall inside the Hanyang Market, not the korean market itself. You will see this stall on the left corner of the entrance to the market. Might not be obvious but the man behind this stall is a master baker of bungebbang (fish shape red bean pastry). He will make you go get a plastic bag from the cashier, he never rushes, he is pretty grumpy but you will realize his way is wise. When you have tasted the bungebbang, you will understand It's first of all massive in size, baked to perfection, crispy exterior and soft and filled with red bean paste. Yo

The boonshik restaurant in Hanyang is a hit or a miss. Sometimes the food is terrible, but sometimes the food is amazing. I'd say if you come here, do NOT get the soondae. Get the fried combo. It's good with their ddukboggee.

I ordered my grocery at hanyang 3weeks ago and finally got my items. And we got a rotten black banana, smushed tomatoes and stale clementine (it's not fresher than the one I bought a month ago.) It looks like they just sent items that were left in the storage for days and months. They should partnership with one of the delivering company like fresh direct or fairway so they could sell fresher groceries for their customers.

my mom bought rice cakes from here and made ddukgook. they were "fresh" rice cakes but turns out they were moldy. my mom needs reading glasses and didn't notice the mold when she handled the rice cakes and it was only noticed because I was putting it away after dinner. you know you can straight up kill people like this. wth is wrong with this store??

They don't clean your fish for you apparently. Bought some mackerel and they refused to gut and clean it. This is a standard service at any other fish counter.

As a native born Korean, I miss Korean food at times and would come to this market. I couldn't bring myself to give this market higher rating because of how the Koreans who work here treat their customers. I'll change my rating once I see that Hanyang customer service is better by seeing the following.... 1) Smile and say hello to your customers 2) ask your customers what they need 3) Treat Korean and Non Korean customer equally 4) If there are any Korean worker that doesn't know English, teach them basic English language phrases and etiquettes since we are living in America and not Korea. If I had to rate this market by product alone, this market will receive a higher rating, but will not because product alone is not what bring customers to the store and gets them to come back to the store.

Be careful this market sells items that are way past their best before date. I bought a soybean paste today. It's best before date was Feb 3, 2016 which is almost a year ago!!

On the first day of every month, Hanyang Mart 1 + 1 event is fraudulent. They are 1.5 to 2 times more expensive than usual. People living alone have to buy two at a very expensive price, and what they call an event is more like a scam. I personally do not want them to call it an event. And I would like to have a price display for each item. The price attached to the shelf and the price stamped on the receipt are different. The old man 's who work Cashier rude speech to customer is a bonus.

Also don't count on them having everything in their flyer in stock. I made the trip here to buy marinated pork for its good sale price and they were out of stock. Waste of a trip. No offer for a rain check either. Produce was also wilting.

I usually go there to get my taiyaki at the entrance of the supermarket and the old man working there is just so rude! I think he's the owner of the stand but boy he's got attitude. Last time I went there he told us we need to pay at the register before ordering, yesterday he told us we order first and then we pay. And he keeps giving attitude and talking back. He's so rude very rude got no respect for others.

It's a nice supermarket that's open 24 hours. The staff is very rude. I was buying over $100 of groceries, and when I got another plastic bag to double bag the items, the cashier berated me about it. Their plastic bags look rather flimsy, and I had a lot of things to carry. This was a disappointing experience, I've been a customer for a number of years. I would not recommend coming here.

Supermarket is just ok but the little restaurant is pretty good. I give them a better rating because they are open 24 hours.

The best thing about this place is open 24 hours. The prices seems decent. We usually stop by here late night whenever we want to buy some Asian stuff like noodles, snacks, etc... This place & the H Mart are pretty much the only Asian markets that are open 24 hours in Flushing & it's only 5-10 minutes drive from our home. The bad thing about this place is the inside. It doesn't feel too clean & it's cluttered. The staff here are all very polite.

Very clean supermarket with samples to try on weekends. Don't go to early or they won't be set up yet. Fresh fruits and vegetables, meats (some come from their H&H location in Hicksville), and seafood. Keep a look out for some manager's specials mixed in with the fresher meats. The manager specials are still very good if cooking the same day, and you'll save yourself a couple bucks off each pound. There's a little station or quite large, where about 6 people make steamed buns including pork or kimchi for $2 each, and dduk buk gi (rice cakes) for $6. The Pork Bun ($2.00) is served steaming hot. It's fairly large in size, but the noodles, ground pork meat is very airy and falls apart easily. It's not compacted together like a Chinese bun, so you won't feel as value-packed. Don't forget to get makgeoli, which is a delicious carbonated rice wine. Forget the soju!! This is so much better!!

My boyfriend took me here on a whim (he was in a sad spiral was avoiding make decisions about dinner). the outside and the initial entrance from the parking lot feels like a slightly ghetto asian supermarket, but once you get past that, it's pretty much a bigger version of the H Mart on Union. and, just like H Mart, some of the items are more expensive than the Chinese grocery stores in the area. but they have an abundance of produce and seafood options, and, if you look carefully, you can find some great deals. i'm super curious about the snack shack in the corner. we popped in, debating about getting dinner there, but didn't stay because the entire menu was in Korean, which was fine for me, but would have been difficult to translate the vast menu for my bf. definitely want to go back to check that restaurant out.

Produce and fruits are pretty fresh over here. It's not too expensive either. Their meat section is also impressive. You could get all of your favorite Korean BBQ style cuts over here. The short ribs look amazing and the prices seemed pretty fair. I prefer coming to Hanyang over H-mart whenever I'm in this area of Northern Blvd. Hanyang seem to offer better weekly specials in my opinion.

My childhood hotspot with friends after a night out as its 24 hours!! OMG. There is a little restaurant/streetside vendor type of deal inside the market and this is the best place to rejuvenate with friends. It's probably my mom's favorite market to shop for our groceries too as I know she still shops here and cooks me up my favorite Korean dishes when I visit my parents. When I stopped in the other day I saw that they even have fresh tofu onsite. There's like this big tofu making machine! check it out! Ill make sure to take a picture of it next time. Never seen one before. Anyway awesome Asian/Korean supermarket with everything you could want and 24 hrs! My childhood/teenage/college hangout spot.

They had buy one get one free sale today only! Place was a chaos. What's disappointing is that price was higher than before. What's the point of getting one free?! Cashiers are not friendly. I would only go to hanyang for items that H mart does not have.

In early Dec 2016 they started carrying local produce from a service called Pippin that shows you info about the actual farms on an iPad. Super fresh stuff!

No a big fan. Prices are more expensive than H mart and there is less selection of vegetables and fruits. It is open 24 hours, which is a plus, but the store is small.

This place is open 24 hours!! I love grocery shopping past midnight. It gets my adrenaline pumping and makes me think about my teenage years when I would pop into that Walmart past 12am. Love the huge selection here. The people that work here are amazing. The refrigerated items section gets a bit chilly. I might just start bringing a long sleeve with me when I come back during the summer.

Hanyang has been my korean supermarket of choice mainly because its the closest to where i live and it's also open 24 hours. That's the main reason we go to this place. When we have to do so major shopping we usually go H-Mart on Union. But Hanyang has decent selection and things are generally pretty clean. Also they rented out a spot in the back to a dumpling place which is decent, but the fact that they opened right across the street from another dumpling place is pretty grimy. But that's separate from Hanyang. The produce at Hanyang seems pretty fresh and fairly priced and the rest of their selection is ok.

Cozy little Korean "super" market in a great spot on Northern Blvd. I usually think of Hanyang as the starting point of Korea mile...the next twenty blocks are literally all Korean stores! I put super in quotation marks because the place itself isn't that big...the ceiling's like 8 feet tall. Can't blame the store though, the H-mart on Northern is the same way - there's just no way to have a huge store cause of how crowded and condensed the blocks are. But I think Hanyang's interior is what gives it it's charm. Never too crowded, and has mostly everything that you could be looking for in a store like this. Fruit section on the outside, plus a couple random stalls inside the entrance, including a small clothing store, and a cell phone store. HY also has maybe one of the last remaining places where you can still rent out videos of Korean dramas. Check in my book! The store is open 24 hours, which is FANTASTIC considering how many restaurants/bars are nearby. Sometimes, you just need to come by after a round of drinking and pick up a few snacks/extra beers to take back to wherever. The store has obviously picked up on this because every week they have "late night specials", where the prices of certain items go on sale between crazy hours...like 2 AM to 5 AM. One of these days I hope to take advantage of those deals. AND! The best part of HY is the 24 hour snack place/restaurant attached to it. It's just like the Pojangmacha on every street corner in Korea. The food and atmosphere is about as authentic as you can get. Greasy, delicious food that you can get any time. I'm talking dumplings, soondae, all kinds of noodles, bossam, you know the deal. After a night of drinks, this is the place to be!

Hanyang is another Korean supermarket with food samples on weekends - I love these irrationally. Not as clean as H-Mart, but it's otherwise the same as all the other Korean supermarkets clustered in the area. Caution: Avoid during daylight on weekends; that parking lot is INSANE. What I'm actually reviewing is the little fried-food shop inside, to the corner. It's a dark, dingy room elevated a couple steps from the rest of the supermarket, with old picnic tables and a heavy smell of grease. Reminiscent of that scene in Kill Bill when Uma Thurman goes to Japan to demand a sword from that guy. You know. Sparse sunlight slanting in through a window, catching particles of ...dust? Oil? We got a corn dog for $2. Breaded with panko! I was so excited... I love cheap, unhealthy Asian street food. But the corn dog was actually kind of bad. It's not a true corn dog since instead of cornmeal it's breaded with some thick spongey batter under the panko. They've got a ton of them already fried and cold in a case; when you order they just hurl it into the fryer (they do this with Korean-style tempura, too, which would really benefit from panko instead of the typical batter). So the outside was hot but the hot dog was still cold. Plus, the batter was crazy thick and soaked up a good tablespoon or two of grease. Ew. Since everything else there was basically the same (Thing + batter + fried), I'll stick to the curry and udon and kalbi samples in the rest of the store.

I love buying fruits at this specific Korean Supermarket. Unlike chinese supermarkets, this supermarket has the freshest, juiciest fruits ever! I've brought boxes of pears, apples, and clementines. I never bought the meat, but they look bloody red as if they were freshly cut. Highly Recommended.

i've been shopping here for 5 years, but be careful at the register, especially for the prices of fruit and veggies which are entered higher then posted very frequently . i guess somebody is making extra bucks. i experienced this many times and when i catch them , they are not even sorry. they just make mad faces and give you the discount. they had 4 containers outside with 4 different apples today and all were 99 cents per pound except for the very distinguishable greener apples, which was $1.99 per pound. but they said, " they all look the same , its hard to distinguish" with a mad face and no sorrys or apologies . ...and they work there.

I go alot. they have a nice selection. What strikes me is how most marts look. I mean I even order online. I think that its pretty clean its like other marts like H mart. I like their kimchi and dumpling collection. I have to say over all they have a nice website and okay store, if you are not a fan of the store then try the website. you can get what you want and its open all the time thats another reason why I like it. Sometimes you give and take , and also making sure you are healthy and safe.

This place is alright. Their prices aren't that cheap compared to HMart or the now gone Assi Plaza, but for Asian (more-so Korean) groceries/foods, its not that bad. They're open 24 hours which is a plus, located conveniently on Northern and Murray so you have access to buses galore (Q13, Q28, Q15, Q15A) and if you're a driver they also have a parking lot. I just wish the prices were a bit more competitive. All in all, they're reliable when you're in a pinch but if I had the time I'd look to go somewhere else.

This is a good, solid place to shop. It has a pretty good fresh fruit and veggie selection, lots of meats, and a decent amount of western food (about average for an Asian market). I get a consistent quality of food here, even if the selection is better elsewhere. It's also extremely clean for an Asian grocery store, particularly compared to the others in the area. Service is friendly and quick. My only gripe is the slightly higher prices than the Chinese groceries in the area. This makes sense, given the increased quality, but I will brave a slightly fishy scent for unbelievable deals at this point in my life! For that reason, and in order to find the western food and ingredients I need, I usually end up visiting 2-3 stores to do my shopping. While Hanyang Super Market comes close, I would love it if there was a one-stop place in Flushing.

I know its a supermarket but I didn't come here to shop for food, i came here to try the food they had at the seating area. I had the red looking chicken and the dumpling looking things. I don't remember the names for any of them. The chicken was dark meat, dark meat is supposed to be good, this was not good. I had two and I was done. The dumpling was average though. You can't really come here with a large group of friends, its a semi quiet place where they like to maintain that peace and quiet.

This Korean supermarket has been around for a long time. Carries the usual suspects you would expect loads of kimchi, seafood, and Korean specialties. However, when I visited today, I was exposed to racial discrimination, unless there are some hidden rules to food samples we're not aware of. I was with my elderly parents for a stroll through the market when we stopped for a sampling of some ramen. The lady giving out the samples saw me, my mom, and a Korean gentlemen behind us. Instead of handing out the next sample to me she gave it to the Korean guy behind us. When we stretched out our hand to take the small plastic cup of ramen, in front of us, with the toothpick in it, we find find her trying to block us from taking it. Ultimately she gave us one, but thought that was odd. On our way out, there was another sampling station with different samples. There was no one manning the station. The samples were laid out with English descriptions and toothpicks. When we tried a piece, a lady raised her voice from afar in a mean way "excuse me, excuse me!" Again, very odd, because not sure what was wrong with what we were doing when others were sampling as well. Only we weren't Korean. Too bad, we are the type that actually buy if we like the samples. In fact, we bought product from another sampling station here today. Not coming here again, especially when Hmart is everywhere and with better selections.

I like going to this supermarket since it open 24 hr. but today I had the same experience as Tony L. A lady at a sampling table.. She look at me and asked If I am a Chinese!!! ...I was confused ..she asked again and again ... Then She said " NO!.No..No!! and let me knew she didn't want me to try the sample!!..I felt a discrimination!!!...Hope It's not a supermarket policy :(

Is this place still 24-hours? It was open when I was there past 11pm this week. Hmm, need to find out. Anyway, I really like this market. I would say the meat and dry snack selection is the best there. Fruits and veggies are alright (would say a step above the 24-hour H-Mart a couple blocks down, but not as awesome as the H-Mart up north on Union St., which is to be expected since that place is huge.) The banchan section in the back corner of the store is kind of expensive, but the mini jjim-bbang store is pretty awesome. Recently had some to-go, kimchee mandoo (10 large pieces for $6) at the tiny shop to the left after you enter the market. Kimchee was not digesting well in my stomach afterwards, so probably will stick to the regular. Jokbal and bossam there is $12! A little wary of how fresh it is, but still worth a try.

Hanyang is okay. It's a korean supermarket for your everyday cooking needs. The prices are okay...yet the pre-made side dishes (ban chan) in the back corner by the fresh fish is bloody pricey. $4 for a ban chan. If you can make your way around in a kitchen, I would say make your own ban chan... it's just not worth it..I usually go for Kim's kimchee. They accept credit cards and there is no minimum.* *The ban chan section does take CCs (mastercard, visa), yet a "tax" is charged on top of the total. The lady will iform you, but giving you a heads up!

I love Hanyang! It's a wonderful, big Korean grocery right on Northern in Flushing. It has its own parking lot but this sure gets crowded, especially after church! It has all the Korean staples, along with beer, and lots of kitchen / home implements. The staff are courteous and fast. The fruit section is very good. They have a wide selection of seafood. They also have all the Korean snacks you could want. Check out the video store and restaurant as well.

Hanyang is the one of best place to buy fresh vegetable and fruit in flushing. when I went to hanyang the last sunday, there was big sale event at that time which was 1 buy 1 free sale event. I got a lot of free fresh vegetable and food at that time. I highly recommend organic food in hanyang also.

The worst customer service I experienced. I was on my way out with my family, and suddenly a tall male employee approaches me and asks me to return the kart that was near by us at the time in a rude manner. WHAT KIND OF EMPLOYEE ASKS A CUSTOMER PASSING BY TO RETURN A SHOPPING CART? I was so shocked, and I told him the kart is not ours. He just said "okay" without apologizing. The man kept staring at us in a creepy way. I really liked the store, but I doubt we will return. I would never want to go to such a foul place especially with family.

Corn Dogs, Kimbab and kimchi in bags. 24 hours. It is good enough for me even though every worker looks at you like you are about to steal something.

This place doesn't feel too clean. And it is cluttered. But it's okay. The prices here seem cheaper than H Mart though. Always a plus. Another plus, 24 hours! I go late so I just park outside. It's easier for me to just pull up and walk in. And when I leave I just pull out onto Northern easily. The lot is not that big. The eatery inside looks interesting but the food doesn't look too appetizing. I dont know why..it looks drab.

This super market has huge selections of produce, grocery ,house goods. I bought special Korean spring vegetables like minari and moxa last week. They were so fragrant and fresh. I also bought some fruits like Fuji apples and oranges. They were OK but pricey. I also bought other goods like paper towels and tissue but they were pricey. Then, I went the small booth selling cooked food and bought potato pancake and pumpkin gruel . Those were excellent. I also bought a fresh made sweet rice cake which was shaped like fish in other booth. Those were delicious.

Parking is bad during the weekend. However they are open 24 hours 7 days. Can not complain.
