I was showing the wife a video that had some fine Asian dining on it. Lo and behold. That's what she wanted to eat. Hao Hao is a restaurant we found during covid that we used to order from all the time but we've never actually come and sat down at this place. We walked in and it was empty which was a good thing as it allowed me to take these beautiful pictures. Though it was one early dinner so there is time for people to show up. Once seated the server came up with water and we ordered crab rangoon and the hot and sour soup. The crab rangoon was so delicious. It was crispy and you could taste the crab. The hot and sour soup was very thick, like a traditional soup and not watered down like a lot of restaurants. For our entrees, my wife decided to get the pork ribs and I decided to get the happy family platter. The four pork ribs for $9 for a huge. The Mrs made me eat two of her ribs so I was already halfway full before I started my food. The happy family so it was awesome. Every piece of protein that they offer chicken, beef, shrimp pork. All mixed together with a little bit of fried rice which you can choose what type of rice you want. I forgot to mention that he chose fried rice. They also offer this extra fried rice to go since we had a little bit left over a plate. Normally we get a dessert and we would have gotten the Chinese beignets but we were so full we did pass on that. Lore East. I gave four stars for the atmosphere cuz I would have liked to see more people inside cuz in the time that we were there eating dinner no one came in. But they do a lot of to go and take out. So the food's fantastic. They've been here forever. Definitely come and check it out.

Ordered General Tso’s chicken on a Friday at 4:30pm (right when they opened for dinner) with pickup at 5:15. What I got was genuinely awful. General Tso’s is the gold standard for judging Chinese takeout: it should be tender, lightly crispy, and coated in a sticky, flavorful sauce. What they served was a chewy, soggy, over-salted mess. It looked nothing like what any sane person would expect. Seriously, Google a photo of General Tso’s and then look at what they had the nerve to box up. It’s borderline insulting. I don’t know who’s writing these positive reviews, but it’s hard to believe we ordered from the same place. Absolute garbage.

Excellent food! Huge portions! Extremely flavorful and fresh. Staff were very nice and attentive. Pricing can’t be beat for the amount of food provided. This will definitely be on my go-to list every time I come to Round Rock!

Google
Absolutely impressed with my experience at Hao Hao. First and foremost the service was perfect. Hostess was friendly and my waiter was on top of everything. Very courteous. I ordered the Mongolian beef, which is my go to when trying a new restaurant. The beef could definitely be spicier, and I didn’t really care for celery in the dish itself. But these are more preferences and did not take away from the experience. The egg roll was perfection. I will be returning when I am in the area again.

Google
This has been my most favorite chinese place in Austin for years. Whenever I'm in Austin, i order from this place. This time, I went there for dinner with family, totaling 7 people. The server was extremely helpful and polite. The food was absolutely delicious as always. Had the Hunan shrimp, Peppery shrimp, Imperial chicken, Mongolian beef, and veggies delight, all with Fried rice. Everyone enjoyed the food and loved the feast and environment.

Google
Made my first visit here in many years since moving away from Round Rock in 2009. I enjoyed it then and it is just as delicious today as I remember from back in the day. After all these years it's got staying power. Asian food restaurants are much like many Mexican restaurants I enjoy...there are a lot of good ones to choose from but only one or two that you keep going back to regularly. Hao Hao is in one of those categories for Asian food restaurants. It hits on all cylinders for menu variety (both Chinese and Vietnamese), quality ingredients, fast preparation, friendly staff, delicious taste, competitive prices.

I asked a friend in Round Rock about a nice place I could take my Indonesian friends. She said Hao Hao's. The selections were just right for a large group, delicious and affordable. The waitstaff very accommodating and even took our picture outside as we were leaving. Thank you!!

Google
Unexpected Gem with Amazing Service! HAO-HAO was such a delightful surprise! My dad and I had the General TSO's chicken with rice and wonton soup as part of the lunch special, and everything was fantastic. The portions were generous, and we were both amazed that the total came out to just $22—such a great value! The food was delicious and had the perfect level of spice—I almost wanted more heat, but it was so flavorful I didn’t want to mess with perfection. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and the sauce was thick, rich, and packed with flavor. Hands down, some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. Service was super attentive—they checked in several times to make sure our drinks were full and that we were happy with everything. I’ll definitely be coming back every chance I get to try more of the menu. I wish I’d taken a photo, but it looked so good we just dove right in!

Yelp
I ordered to go for myself during the week. Food was ready by quoted time. I ordered the general tso's platter, with hot and sour soup, fried rice, an egg roll and also an order of crab wontons. The wontons themselves didn't have enough filling and felt overly fried so they were just dry and tough in my opinion. The soup was delightful. The platter itself was okay. The fried rice honestly was less flavorful than what I think white rice would have been with the main entree and I ordered the platter 2x spicy and felt like I wasn't picking up on any hints of heat. The main dish was okay and felt it could more flavor. I had enough for leftovers but I can't say with the amount of Asian cuisine in this area that I'd put this high up n my revisit list. Take away can sometime skew an experience so maybe it's different in person?

Yelp
This is my favorite place! I am so sad that they are retiring. I usually come to this establishment every week and order my beef with broccoli and carrots. The sauce is amazing with hints of ginger and soy sauce. The veggies are always crisp and fresh and the beef is always tender and tasty. The lunch comes with an egg roll with sweet and sour sauce and a choice of white or fried rice. It also comes with a soup and I always get the egg drop soup. Lynn and her family are always so kind and have my lunch prepared and ready to go. I will miss eating here.

Yelp
I've heard many positive reviews and decided to try this place out. It's not too large and loud like other establishments which I liked. Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. We were immediately sat, and approached for drink orders. Shortly after that, our order was taken. Both appetizer and entrees arrived quickly and piping hot. We had the shrimp spring rolls that were a nice sized roll served with peanut sauce. I requested the fish sauce and chili oil and that combo rocked these rolls! We had the Neptune platter, the combo vermicelli bowl and garlic eggplant. All entrees were huge portions, delicious and could be shared with at least 3 people. My only negative comment is that the eggplant could have been less greasy. The flavor was perfect, and not sweet as I've had at other places. I had leftovers for several meals and the prices are well worth every penny!

Yelp
Nothing says success like catering with confidence! Hao Hao catered our graduation party for our son. We filled out an online form and said, "Help!" As we were unsure how much to order. The chef reviewed and modified to cover all of our bases. The food arrived a few minutes early, and everything was hot, and delicious! Lots of leftovers, which was great for lunch the next day. Ambiance, well, as an party catered in our home, with great food and amazing guest, nailed it. Thank you Hao Hao for the stellar door to door service!

Yelp
Amazing food, very friendly staff, and a clean modern feel. I really enjoyed the beef and broccoli special, pho tai nam, and the tofu in garlic sauce. Will definitely be eating here once a month or more!

Yelp
After a previous negative experience, I decided to try this place again. It smelled amazing on the way home! I had the chicken wings and chicken vermicelli. The wings tasted like they would have been good,, but the old oil they were cooked in completely ruined the flavor and made them inedible. The chicken vermicelli was good. I love lemongrass, but the flavor was a little too overpowering. My daughter had the vegetable vermicelli. The flavor was okay, but the vegetables were undercooked, which made the dish pretty inedible. My son had the orange chicken. I thought it was a little over cooked, but he seemed to enjoy it. The kids also got crab rangoon, which I didn't try after my experience with the chicken wings. The food proportion is way too much. If I thought it would be lunch worthy the following day, there would still be copious amounts of food left. On a positive note, the inside was well kept and very clean. Staff was extremely friendly!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic food in an unassuming strip mall. All of their dishes are made from scratch. Extremely good value for the money spent. Highly recommend and I will be back.

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. They have a great lunch menu. The main dish includes soup, rice and an egg roll. (If you prefer, you can have 2 egg rolls instead of the soup.) The staff was very kind and efficient. The food was delicious! This place has made it onto my list of "favorites".

Yelp
One of the best Chinese restaurants in Round Rock. I eat here at least once a week. The Chicken Fried Rice will feed you 3-4 days. It can feed 3 people for one day.

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch today. I ordered the imperial chicken, pork dumplings and a Vietnamese coffee. Everything was delicious. The coffee is made cup by cup with an individual strainer. Nice to find Vietnamese coffee done the right way! Kylann was my server and he had some great recommendations, great service and overall was very knowledgeable. If you're looking for the best Vietnamese food and coffee this is the spot!

Yelp
I had a great experience at Hao Hao Chinese and Vietnamese restaurant. It's a place where you can either dine in or take out, so don't expect fancy decor or ambiance but what you can expect is delicious food and friendly service. I noticed that there were many regular customers who seemed to know the staff well, and the phone was ringing constantly with orders. That's a good sign of quality and popularity. I ordered the spring rolls, the combination vermicelli, and the General Tso's beef. The spring rolls were fresh, the vermicelli was loaded with meat and veggies, and the General Tso's beef was tender and just the right amount of spicy. I was curious about the beef dish because I've never had it before, and I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was. The portions were generous and I had enough for another meal. The server and the host were very friendly and attentive. They checked on me several times and made sure I had everything I needed. They also gave me some recommendations for next time, which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend Hao Hao to anyone who loves Chinese and Vietnamese food. It's a great spot for a quick and satisfying meal.

Yelp
Forgot to get pics but one of the best spots for family owned Chinese in Austin I've been coming to for years. for many spots that have lower Yelp ratings i promise the food is quality is not a contributing reason and have otherwise only experience friendly staff.

Patrick W.

Yelp
I dine at Hao Hao at lunch at least once a week. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. The hospitality is excellent and you always feel welcomed. Patrick

Yelp
Super cute, quiet little restaurant. I ordered the veggie tofu soup with fried rice and a Vietnamese coffee. The coffee was absolutely delicious and the soup was warm, comforting, and a generous serving. The server was very very nice and welcoming and helped me figure out how to prepare the coffee as I have never seen it in the dish it came in. Overall, the staff are patient and kind, the food is very delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy and calm. I definitely recommend checking this place out - it seems like a great place to study or meet with some friends.

Yelp
I was out of town for a week and got back and was craving Chinese food. I had read some reviews on Hao Hao Vietnamese and decided to give them a try. I ordered curry with shrimp, sesame beef and something I hadn't had in decades, egg foo young with chicken. We were very pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity of food. We ordered everything with rice and ere very pleased. The sesame beef was pretty much as expected. The curry rice was full of flavor and not too spicy. The egg foo young was really excellent and a very large portion. They gave two "omelette patties" with chicken and a sauce that was nicely flavored. I had placed the order online, and despite being dinner time, the order was ready when I arrived. Next time, I'm going to invite friends to join us for dinner at the restaurant!

Yelp
Solid neighborhood Chinese food, always great! General Tsos and the Pho are common in our orders, but haven't had a bad dish.
google avatar

Yelp
Surprised at how much we enjoyed the lunch specials here. The Round Rock chicken was pretty tasty. It was like an elevated sesame chicken with a spicy kick to it without the seeds. The egg drop soup was actually really good and so were the egg roll, both of which were included with the lunch special. Portions for the pricing were fantastic and they were kind enough to do curbside pickup during lunch when they were really busy. So they are definitely on my list for Americanized Chinese food in Round Rock/ North Austin area!

Yelp
My favorite Chinese place in Williamson County. I tried it on a Friday evening. A bit earlier than the regular dinner rush. The customer service including everyone who served me was first-rate. The manager stopped by my table to ask me how my meal was and my waiter was very attentive. I tried their beef with snow peas. Very large serving. Lots of tender snow peas and melt in your mouth beef. The fried rice was cooked to perfection. My egg roll was hot and tasty. I am not normally an egg drop soup fan, but Hao Hao makes theirs a little thicker and less watery. Much tastier than typical egg drop soup. I will order it again. I noticed they were doing a huge take-out business with 30+ orders always sitting on the take-out table at any one time. This will be my new go-to place for Chinese.

Cindy P.

Yelp
My favorite order-in asian food place. Delivery is fast and food is always great! My favorite is the vermicelli, but everythI have ordered is delicious.

Yelp
Very good. Stopped into for m first time. Nice quiet environment, friendly staff and the food was perfect!

Yelp
Everything about this place is awesome!!!! Fast, delicious and great service!!! I always look forward to going back each time!!

Yelp
Delicious! My husband & I both had chicken dishes, crispy walnut (not fried, it has celery & water chestnuts that add the crunch, the walnuts were whole & amazing) & chicken & broccoli which was full of flavor- garlic & some ginger. The hot & sour soup was good. Very friendly service.

Yelp
This went from 8+ years of 5 stars and rave reviews to a begrudging 3 stars in one simple change: brown rice now has a $3.00 surcharge. I want brown rice; I'm happy to pay extra for that choice. $3.00 is too much. I'm done.

Yelp
It's really a 2.5 experience. I ordered the food through DoorDash. Food was really hot (temperature). I wasn't really impressed with the round rock chicken or the I felt like the reviews were hyped up. The lo mein was filled with meat, the noodles were over cooked. The shrimp was the best but it really tasted like sweet and sour and the walnuts were stale. My favorite was the Mongolian beef.

Yelp
I decided to try a new Chinese restaurant for delivery and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered takeout at 5:50 on a Tuesday evening and they arrived with hot food an hour later. Considering they are over 7 miles away from my house in Round Rock, I was surprised they delivered to my area. I was able to make the entire order, tip, and pay online, which was convenient to have everything taken care of before the food arrived. We ordered the crab rangoons, egg drop soup, combination fried rice, shrimp fried rice, and chicken and broccoli. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and the portions were very large, which made for plenty of leftovers. The sauce in the chicken broccoli was delicious and the egg drop soup was flavorful. The highlight was definitely the crap rangoons-amazing and arrived piping hot! Glad I finally found a Chinese takeout restaurant close enough to my house!

Yelp
I've been a customer for about 20 yrs now. The food quality has been consistent over the years and I feel it is better than the original owners. My favorite dishes are the combination fried rice, orange beef, orange chicken and peppery shrimp. I have dined there and now generally get take out. Service is good and the staff is polite.

Yelp
I finally got to come here for dinner on Friday night. Service was awesome. Very attentive. Their to go orders were coming in like crazy yet they made time to check up on everyone dining in. We ordered the crab chips, curry beef with fried rice and Szechuan chicken. The crab chips were crunchy and good. Not the typical thing I would order as an appetizer, but it had been a long time since I had it so I was happy. The curry beef was good. The fried rice was good too. Glad they add peas and carrots to it as most places when you want fried rice just throw eggs in and that's it. The Szechuan chicken was good. It didn't come with Jalapeño peppers or Szechuan pepper, but had good flavor. We enjoyed our food. I can't wait to come back.

John T.

Yelp
Started to go to eggroll express but the last time I went there they gave very small portion and cost to much money so I decided to stop by this restaurant and oh boy it was a lot I had the tofu, vegan lo mein, and my friend had the chicken, lo mein and egg rolls. It was great. Love the food will be back soon, nice Vietnamese & Chinese food and it was hot and stay hot

Yelp
Never been here. Another new discovery for us. Rainy and stormy night, this place was quiet. Yet rhe food was phenomenal. We did see people coming to get their pick up orders. I am quite sure it gets packed on a non rainy day. Will definitely be coming back to try other dishes.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful service and affordable options for all. Located right next to Round Rock High School.

Yelp
This was a to go order. I got shrimp egg foo young with crab Rangoon. I am pretty specific about egg foo young because I under no circumstances want cabbage in this dish. Where I'm from bean sprouts were always the vegetables added so living in Texas is a bit brutal with the cabbage and the slightly sweet sauce.-_- The bean sprouts were swapped in even though the lady taking the order asked several times. I reassured her that I was certain. I'm used to this sort of pushback. Their sauce is different but it wasn't bad. It's tasted a bit how I'd imagine a teriyaki Salisbury gravy would taste. It was really good and the patty is so huge. I wish it contained more sprouts, and the crab Rangoon was solid. I would order again when in Round Rock.

Tina B.

Yelp
First time trying out this restaurant. We ordered Peppery Fish and Neptune Platter. They were both delicious. Peppery Fish is deep fried fish covered with batter. Neptune Platter is served on a sizzling platter and consist of a white sauce with shrimp, imitation crab meat, scallops, carrots, mushrooms, Baby corn, broccoli. The portions are good. It comes with a choice of white rice or fried rice.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, and flavorful food! Many menu options with mouth watering appetizers! We visit all the time and like to switch it up here and there with new dishes! We've never been disappointed!

Yelp
Ordered 5/15/20. I'd love to say something positive, but there wasn't much positive. The restaurant put the food into styrofoam containers when it was way too hot. Initially I thought just a little sauce was leaking, but it turned out two of the styrofoam containers had basically disintegrated, making removing it from the plastic bag rather difficult. Once the food was onto real plates, I then had to start picking styrofoam pieces out of the food. Naturally I missed some pieces, so while chewing I had to try to discern the difference between the chicken and styrofoam, which was actually somewhat difficult. Outside of the terrible packing job, the king pao chicken was blah. The pho was ok. The garlic broccoli was just steamed broccoli with a scoop of sauce on top. The broccoli was not cooked in any sauce and had no flavor, but that's good because the sauce was really fishy. Lastly, kind of weird that they provided one set of chopsticks for four meals. I feel like you could do four or none, but one pair of chopsticks makes no sense. Overall food is cheap and not worth the money. Little to no care is put into packaging orders. It will take some convincing if I'm going to give this place a second shot.

Yelp
Hao Hao can bring some good flavors, but it can also be inconsistent. There are some better options in the area for both Chinese or Vietnamese, but I still come to Hao Hao for a couple things. They have an excellent lunch special for a good value with plenty of options. It's about $8 for a main dish with steamed or fried rice, egg roll, and a soup choice. Also, the Pu Pu Platter is one of my favorite items they have of all. It's an appetizer sampler featuring a flame in the center so you can roast your own items on skewers. Talk about dinner and a show!
google avatar

Brooke N.

Yelp
Finally a place with egg foo young! The portions were great and if ordering online we got free crab rangoons! Bold flavors! Only problem was lo mein was made with spaghetti noodles and over cooked. That is the only dish I wouldn't reorder. We got all this food for $65. It fed 5 adults with left overs for another day. We will be ordering from here again!

NW J.

Yelp
We only go there because it's our easy weeknight quick pick up. Food is ok and price is reasonable but they make mistakes or substitutions that are not acceptable for the dish ordered. For example, we ordered walnut shrimp and there was not a walnut in there. We ordered Neptune platter (described with shrimp, squid and scallop) and there was not a single squid, and only 2 scallops, the rest are scallop-looking objects called water chestnuts. My husband is a squid lover and was sorely disappointed. We rarely eat out (at most twice a month). Only do so when we run out of food that I prepare over the weekend. So whenever we do we choose our dishes very carefully. I would appreciate if they've just told me that they ran out of ingredient and please order something else, why else do we have to enter our phone number?
google avatar

Jhon B.

Yelp
Came back for some comfort food after a few drinks elsewhere. Ordered the oho with tripe and tendon, and the seafood lo mein. The pho soup, is always good. The oodles however was overcooked. Bloated and breaking up easy. The lo main had enough veggies and seafood, but was very salty and the crispy noodles were over-fried. The redeeming factor was our server Kate, who was awesome. We will be back, but will ask the kitchen not to overcook our noodles, and cook our dishes with less salt.
google avatar

Ashley I.

Yelp
Ordered pho today and there was a bug stuck to the noodles. I would definitely not recommend this place if they can't even inspect their food when packaging it up.

Wilberta S.

Yelp
Decent food and close to home. We thought we'd found our "go to" when we didn't feel like cooking. Unfortunately 2 incidents have made it a certainty that we will never again step foot in this establishment. The first incident occurred after we were finished with our meal and found that the price on the menu did not coincide with the final bill. It was explained that the new menu had not arrived yet so the current menu had an old price. Ah, that would be false advertising and would have been less of a problem had we been told as we were ordering. They would not have changed the price had I not voiced my displeasure at which time they agreed to honor their menu price. The 2nd and final incident happened today. I ordered 2 chicken pho's, one as is but the 2nd one without the cilantro, green onions or chicken. A dish that would normally cost $12.50. Instead I was charged $10 for broth only and $4 for the noodles for a grand total of $14.00. I've ordered it before and left the chicken in and the price did not change. I figured they get to keep the chicken and charge me for it but no, they decided it was a "custom" order and charged me more for less. Again, I was not told ahead of time that this was a "custom" order. If I had been told ahead of time I could've decided what I wanted to do. I've now decided communication is not their forte nor is customer service so this is the last time we will be duped by them. No more!

Nicole S.

Yelp
My family's favorite place to go! I've tried a lot of Chinese food in my life and in my opinion this is the best Chinese restaurant in Round Rock. The dinner portions are pretty large, shareable sizes. They have a lunch menu with great deals! I could honestly go on and on about this place you just need to try it for yourself. 10/10

Eduardo R.

Yelp
Great service, food was made very quickly and order went smoothly!! The food tasted great as well!

Krystal L.

Yelp
I just placed an order online it was taken out of my card immediately. On their website it said it didn't go through I was charged $47 on my end I called the restaurant they said that my order never went though and couldn't do anything for me? This is very disappointing spending $47 dollars and getting no food?
google avatar

Cindy P.

Yelp
My favorite local Asian restaurant. The vermicelli is my favorite, but remind them to include the fish sauce.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
We have gotten take out from Hao Hao a couple of times and the food has been good. The General Tso's Chicken is better than most places around Round Rock and I really like that you can choose the level of spice when you order online. The food has been ready to go when I get there on both visits and it's still nice and hot when we get home. We will continue to order from Hao Hao when we have the hankering for more Chinese food.

Yelp
Very good service; very good & large lunch special portions. The noodles with sesame sauce added were super & a lot of food!
google avatar

Yelp
I got this order to go so maybe it would be better if eaten there. With that said, it just didn't have authentic flavors tasted more processed.

Yelp
Had the poo poo platter...delicious and plenty for two! Had iced tea. Staff was very friendly.

Yelp
Great customer service some of the nicest people helped us w a to go order I never tip and haven't tried the food but 5 stars for service and vibe
