13 Knockout Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants in San Jose and the South Bay

"For nearly a decade, Happiness Cafe has been cooking vegan favorites, making it a popular choice for those who want to grab a snack, a drink, or a quick bite to eat. With veganized versions of sandwiches like BLTs and patty melts, as well as Asian dishes like rice noodle soup, the menu runs the gamut. According to regulars, the avocado rolls are a must-try, and the Happiness Plate is simple but flavorful dish — veggies stir fried in the house sweet and sour sauce, served over brown rice. The specialty milk teas also make a refreshing accompaniment." - Cathy Park, Paolo Bicchieri

My husband and I decided to try eating at a vegan restaurant and found that Happiness Cafe was close to home. Although small and very casual inside, the owner was very welcoming and pleasant. We tried the avocado rolls, spaghetti and meatballs and hotdog. All were excellent. I would highly recommend this spot. Can't wait to go back and try some more options.

I had the waffle and omg.. I highly recommend you trying it out if you are looking for a tasty vegan meal

This tomato pasta with meatballs, I order it every single time I come here, because it tastes so darn good! This restaurant quite frankly doesn't get the attention it deserves. The menu items are cooked in a very original way and the explosion of flavors are surprising to come from such simple dishes. You can tell that they are cooked with love. I highly recommend this little vegan gem in San Jose.

We had dinner here on Jan 12, 2023. We ordered Avocado rolls, BLT sandwich, Beef stew noodle soup, Opera cake, Ginger tea and lavender milk tea. Here my personal rating: Avocado rolls: excellent, the oily flaky and crispy dough wrapped around the crunchy cabbage, soft avocado and the tender fake meat. All of these did not have any flavor. However the sweet chili sauce was the one that made this dish excellent. BLT sandwich: good. The ham looked very much like the real meat. It came with potato chips. My friend said the sandwich was good. He finished it all. Beef stew noodle: very good. The broth was a little sweet, sour and spicy. It had a hint of five spice and anise. The noodles had no flavor but went well with the broth. The fake beef was soft. It was a very big portion dish. Opera cake: excellent. The chocolate ganache was soft and not super sweet. The chocolate cake was rich and not too dry. The sponge cake was dry since it had no eggs but the vegan butter cream did compliment the dryness. The chocolate syrup added more richness to the cake. Highly recommend this cake. Ginger hot tea: ok, not too sweet. Lavender milk tea: not recommend it. It tasted like black tea with milk. No lavender smell at all. Overall, it was a good dinner. Even the price was a little high, I still recommend this place.

Google
One of our favourite places in the area for vegan burgers & snacks at reasonable prices ! The hazelnut chocolate cake was superb and you can’t even tell that it’s made without using dairy or eggs. The burgers and sandwiches are also really tasty. Also loved their avocado smoothie with boba for a cool, sweet treat. The avocado rolls, which are quite famous, were decent - flaking & buttery-tasting. Wasn’t a fan of the fried shrimp as the lemony flavour was a little overpowering. Just wish the opening hours weren’t so limited. It closes early and is closed some days of the week, so you’ve really got to check if it’s open before planning a trip. But the food is definitely worth it.

Google
I live quite far from here so I can't come often but when I do I come for the avocado rolls for sure! They are amazing! A good amount of soft and crunchy. I would say they are perfection! I believe they are known mostly for their avocado rolls but they also have a large variety of equally amazing foods as well. For dessert might I suggest the waffle with fruit. Yummy! Try it out!

Google
This place was a tasty pit-stop on our way through San Jose. Happiness Cafe lives up to its name! I got the waffles with the best vegan pistachio ice cream I've ever had and some avocado rolls that didn't survive long enough to take a photo of. Everything was delicious and the owners are very friendly. One of them even brought our dog some treats and offered her a chair of her own so she could sit with us at the table. We'll be back on our next trip this way!

Yelp
It's a little bit small and utilitarian in appearance, but Happiness Cafe is a tasty place to get a vegan meal! My husband and I stop in every so often when we happen to shop at the 99 Ranch next to it (which sadly isn't that often since we usually go to the one in Milpitas). It shares a lot of decorative choices with the Loving Hut franchise, but has a little different of a menu. I'm a fan of the noodle soups and my husband really likes the Sunny Burger, although we've both liked everything we've gotten there. They also have boba, but I do find their drinks on the sweet side and sometimes the boba is a little too soft for my tastes, but it's understandable that they aren't going to have the same level of customization and such as a place that only does boba. In terms of a restaurant that does boba, it's decent, I'm just spoiled by the plethora of boba shops in this area. I haven't tried the ice cream or cakes yet, either. Overall, I really like Happiness Cafe, I just wish it was closer to me!

Yelp
Quiet. Low key. Great customer communication and service. Few good sized tables and chairs inside. Very tiny cafe/lunch spot. Good colorful vibes. Wide variety of foods and beverages along with desserts on the menu. Ice cream variety is excellent. I don't think there's anything I dislike from their menu. Photos look good too. You really have to be a cafe person to enjoy it. This place is truly a small happiness cafe indeed. I used to visit more often when working nearby. Prices have gone up with inflation. Not cheap for sure. Discard foods/trash into the bin/tray area and help yourself to self served iced water. Owners are passionate. Not much happens around here. Tasty Pesto Pasta comes with the sweet tiny tomatoes and toasted bread slices. It is topped with some mozzarella cheese bits and a vegan meat. Yummy. Orange vanilla ice cream texture was very soft, creamy, and smooth. Delicious. Yes, found orange vanilla flavor here. Fresh watermelon juice is fresh for sure. Not too sweet. I usually go for soup noodles and sandwich options too. Definitely review the menu options in advance. Nice people. Friendly atmosphere. This is really not bad in a popular shopping retail location spot. If you're looking for peace and tranquility, this is your break area. Enjoyed it very much. I still leave them around $5 tips each time no matter what I order. Glad they accept AMEX-American Express credit cards too. Generous food portions. Happy and free as a bird.

Yelp
I've been eating at this wonderful little cafe with my family every year, and it's been such a great experience. Not only is the food AMAZING, but the staff is also extremely friendly. My personal favorite dish to get here is their Alfredo. Looking to try their orange chicken next! :)

Yelp
I had to update their service is always amazing. I don't know why I don't know her name but she always remembers my name and I feel like it been such a long time since I've gone here. I always order avocado rolls, and the ocean melt. Occasionally a drink of some sort. Happiness smoothie is always so good. Mango, pineapple with coconut milk. Ocean melt served with chips... is just perfection; just eat it there or in the car) they toast the bread and the 'tuna' melt with lettuce and tomato. I'm usually not a fan of a tomato but i inhale the sandwich long before it gets too soggy. The avocado is still amazing just like I had them (well according to my original post 9 years ago at least). Ambiance is cozy with a few tables around. They have updated the walls with posters of celebrities who are vegans. We constantly can't believe everything is 100% vegan. Sorry for the lack of pictures... inhaled it.

Yelp
Happiness Cafe is located in a busy shopping plaza with plenty of parking, but it may be a bit difficult to find parking on weekends and weeknights. It is a bit hidden - I had been to this plaza many times for food or to the other various boba spots in this plaza, and never noticed them. The exterior blends in, while their interior is a bit old school with limited seating to enjoy your drinks/food at. Happiness Cafe offers boba, desserts, entrees, and snacks. I opted for the jasmine milk tea with boba. The boba was bit too chewy and tasted melted. The milk tea was not the best either and had a watery taste to it. For one drink, there was quite a wait as well.

Yelp
Great little vegan spot in San Jose! They have all different kinds of options, so there's something for everyone. My sister and I wanted something quick so we had the crispy vegan shrimp and the crescent rolls. We both really liked the sauce that came with the shrimp. For her, the texture was a bit off but I thought it was okay. The crescent rolls were delicious! The service was fast and friendly. There's plenty of parking as it's located in a plaza.

Yelp
I was craving their ocean melt and was satisfied with the sandwich. I wish the side was still fries instead of potato chips. Service was quick and it was ready as I came back from ordering a drink at Tiger Sugar.

Yelp
Happiness Cafe is one of the OG vegan places that has been around for nearly a decade. I've visited various times over the years when plant-based options were scarcer back then. I haven't visited as often because they were limiting their days during the pandemic and there is an abundance of plant-based options these days. |ORDERING| I happened to be in this area recently and needed a quick bite before heading off to another engagement. I placed an online order (this wasn't an option in the past!) instead of ordering in as I normally do. The process was quick and painless, and my order took 15 minutes to complete. I got the taro smoothie and the crispy vegan shrimp. They do have loyalty stamp cards for drinks. |INTERIOR| I forgot how cramped this cafe was, and it sometimes feels like I'm walking into a cluttered Asian household lol. Two of the tables were occupied by various items so that left customers had about 4 tables to dine on. During this visit the bathrooms were out-of-order. |FOOD| I used to come here all the time for their taro drinks because they were one of the first places to use fresh taro chunks before boba shops hopped onto the trend. This time I ordered the taro smoothie, which did not exceed my expectations. It reminded me of one of those Icees you get at the mall with the remainder of ice at the bottom after all the liquid has been sapped. This was rather disappointing! I'll stick with my usual taro milk tea next time. Moving onto the shrimp, the outside was a perfect crisp! The inside surprised me with its chewiness, and was more similar to boiled shrimp. It also didn't have that fishy taste that seafood has, as tOf course, that's to be expected because it's made out of soy meat. They provided a sweet and sour sauce that made me reminisce dipping shrimp balls in. The "shrimp" looked and tasted appealing, but at about $2/piece, it's hard to justify the price point. Aside from the foods I bought, they also offer ice creams, baked goods, fruit drinks, milk teas, and other savory dishes. Back then vegan food was newly sensational because of the creativity they put into making replicates of nostalgic dishes. Now in 2022, there is a higher standard for better quality and affordable vegan foods that Happiness Cafe hasn't seemed to match. Overall, I'm giving them 3.5 stars as a mom and pop shop with excellent customer service, fast service, but mediocre food for a high price point.

Yelp
I have been coming here of several years now. The owner is always super friendly and excited to share about their offerings. I love the variety of sandwiches and melts offered here. There are also great snack items you buy for after your visit like teriyaki jerky and soy floss (think shredded fried pork) that you can use to add extra umami to your sandwiches, soups, and salads. I can't pick a favorite sandwich but my go-to snack has always been the avocado rolls. It's all things amazing! Avocados wrapped in crispy flaky roti. You can't ask for much more in life, really. It's convenient that Happiness Cafe also sells milk tea, milk shakes and desserts like ice cream and cakes! Today, the opera cake is what brought me in. I'm looking to hone my cake baking craft and came for inspo. The owner was eager to share with me what each layer of this beautiful cake contained. I simply love her passion and enthusiasm to share the cafe's offerings. This is such a wonderful change to Veggie Grill. Stop by and see for yourself!

Yelp
We loved it! The service is great the food is superb! The tiramisu is my favorite but the avocado rolls were close!

Yelp
I tried this place many years ago, not knowing it was a vegan place and I loved it! Since then, Happiness Cafe has been my go-to spot for lunch whenever I am working in the area. The avocado rolls are huge and comes with a sweet and sour sauce, it's very filling. Their phish subs are also really good but it's so expensive for just one roll. Where as the ocean melt is more filling and comes with chips. The spaghetti is also good! Doesn't taste vegan at all. Honestly if you haven't tried this place, whether you're vegan or not - I definitely recommend you try it. I do wish they were open on Wednesdays though ;(

Yelp
I decided to eat a meatless dinner today and through my thorough research (yelped it) I found this place. When I entered the cafe, I was greeted with a warm smile from the owner. I ordered the impossible burger with a side of fries. The burger was savory and well cooked, but not dry. In addition, I had a healthy heap of fries with ketchup. Needlessly to say, I was more than content with my meal and quick service. If you're in the area looking for a vegan meal options I suggest giving this cafe a shot!

Yelp
I've eaten at many vegan places and the vegan beef noodle bowl was ok. I wouldn't have it again when comparing to another place that serves vegan noodle soup dishes like Green Lotus. The noodle soup broth was kind of a light tomato soup with beefy overtones. I can't say the noodles used for it complimented the broth well - it fell apart easily and didn't really have a good mouth feel. I did like that there was plenty vegan meat to consume in the dish, although it didn't have the same kind of strong savory taste like Green Lotus does. I'm willing to try their other dishes - they have a shaken vegan beef dish that I would love to compare to Green Lotus' and will update the next time I do.

Mike L.

Yelp
I discovered this gem of a restaurant after a brief chat with a worker from Loving Hut. So far I've had the noodle soup and the beef stew over rice. The noodles taste great so I came back the next day for round 2. Recommended for those who like Taiwanese vegan food.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar for a while! My mom has been trying to eat plant based and so we have been trying out different vegan/vegetarian restaurants. What really stood out to me for this restaurant were their unique menu items! I love that they have a bunch of different foods from different cuisines! I saw a vegan fish n chips. Fried patty with rice, pasta, burgers and more. I have not seen a vegetarian "tuna" melt anywhere else so far. I had to try their ocean melt and my mom went with their avocado roll. The ocean melt was so good!!! The bread was perfectly toasted and the salad inside was so good. For those wondering it doesn't really taste like tuna. I'd describe it as having a real crab salad texture with tuna salad seasoning. Everything inside tasted super fresh!! I do wish there was more lettuce but I can't complain. Avocado rolls- I wasn't sure what to expect? Initially thought it would be like avocado egg rolls but I was pleasantly surprised! It was like a flaky (green onion pancake-esque) wrap with avocado lettuce, carrots and VEGAN?? Protein. I tried a tiny piece and it tasted legit like chicken thigh texture . Idk how they did it. Mind blown. It came with a sweet tangy dipping sauce. My mom loved how the wrap was so flaky and so we will definitely be back for some more mother-daughter lunch dates :)

Yelp
This place is my favorite vegan restaurant in San Jose. You can get so many good vegan dishes here, from vegan Alfredo pasta to vegan noodle soup. They have a guava cake that is out of this world and their boba milk teas with ice cream on top are such a delicious treat. I highly recommend this place to vegans and non-vegans alike, I hope it stays in business forever. It is my dream restaurant and I go every single time I'm in San Jose for something.

Yelp
Happiness comes in many forms and it's even better when it's in the form of heart healthy, delicious vegan cuisine. I was so excited to be in the area and finding this cafe nearby for dinner. This Mom & Pop shop really delivered a great meal that even meat eaters will enjoy. We ordered the Avocado Rolls ($7.50) and their 'Beef' Stew Over Rice ($11.95). Absolutely LOVED the creamy rolls wrapped in vegan roti. It was so flavorful that I'd take these over a normal spring roll any day. Our beef stew was also really delicious although a bit on the saltier side. The soy protein and sauce were a great combination and you can never go wrong with brown rice and steamed broccoli. Yummy combination. What I love about Happiness Cafe is that they don't try to cater so hard to meat eaters or marketing themselves as a niche vegan establishment. I find that a lot of vegan restaurants tend to be expensive and rely on all these meat substitutes. While there are a few here, they still use a lot of plant based protein sources like beans and tofu that really make a meal. There weren't a lot of baked goods available when we went but I would love to try their dessert options one day. They certainly have a great selection online. Thanks Happiness for the wonderful experience! I like to dedicate this review to my late brother Henry. It's his birthday today and he was vegan at the time of his passing. I am fortunate to be at a place of awareness now to make heart healthier diet decisions to prolong my life and hopefully reverse any diseases.

Yelp
I tried crispy Avocado Rolls, awesome, if you are okay with avocado, then this is the best one to order.

Yelp
My family and I have become regular customers. We travel from Alameda when we crave some simple vegan comfort food. We like to order the Sunny Burger and the Waffle with Nuggets. The food is well prepared and very delicious. We also like to order their teas and sometimes try their desserts. Their food is not too heavy and they have a good variety of dishes. It's not a huge place but there's indoor and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Emz B.

Yelp
The Orange Vanilla icecream was super good. The texture was a little bit icy, which I love, and not too sweet. The Vanilla had a really creamy texture and tasted more of a cream base than vanilla, not my favorite but eh. 2 Scoops + Waffle cone = $9.47, pretty pricy but it's vegan The person who served us was super friendly. We will be back to try out the menu, lots of food and dessert options

Yelp
I'm so glad to have come all the way from San Francisco to give this place a try. The one wait staff running the front was nice and friendly, store clean, food nice and delicious. Love there is an option for good vegetarian food and boba spot. Food arrived pretty fast within 5-8 minutes The shop is quite small and only has tables for four indoors and out on the walkway. I asked for a recommendation on a drink and has recommended the hibicous tea, which was quite refreshing and flavorful for a tea. I was amazed by the vegan beef stew over rice so I ordered that. Amazed that the vegan beef they used had been cut to feel like eating beef. Of course, it doesn't taste like beef, but the stew was quite good, yet lack a little depth in flavor, maybe a bit more tomato paste? I finished the entire dish feeling full, but not in a good coma state associated with eating an actual meat stew. I definitely want to come back and try their other noodle soups, dishes, vegan cake, and drinks. Leaving here that day, the place truly lived up to their names, I was happy....I know that kinda sounds corny but if you can eat lunch feeling you had something good for the body, why not.

Yelp
At first this place seemed like more of a bubble tea/snack/ice cream place but there's quite a bit of food on the menu and it's super yummy! The service is great. The people are so incredibly kind, gracious and friendly, she really makes you feel so welcomed. We had the avocado roll, creamy corn soup w/ organic baguette, rice noodle soup w/ phish balls, ocean sub and happiness over rice. Came back for the rice noodle soup w/ phish balls. I love that soup. The avocado roll is ridiculously good. It's like a crispy roti wrap filled with crunchy lettuce and avocado with a sweet Chili dipping sauce. The corn soup had good flavour but we would've liked it more if it were thicker and had more corn. The rice noodle soup was so yummy! Tasted exactly like Hong Kong style noodle soups I had many times before when I wasn't vegan. The sweet and sour dish was just like sweet and sour pork.

Alexander C.

Yelp
My wife and I love it here. The food is always perfectly cooked and the service is always amazing. I wouldn't say we're regulars because we don't really live too close by, but we either crave it enough to make the drive or are going to be in that area and jump at the opportunity to go. It's so good it's on the list of places we wanted to show my mother in law while she's visiting from out of state. We took her there yesterday and, unsurprisingly, she also loved it. Also everything is nut free!

nohely f.

Yelp
It super clean and welcoming the staff are super sweet and helpful when picking out a food items. Highly recommend the milk shake and burger 10/10 would come again. The lady was super nice and they have cute books to read while waiting for your items. Plus it's vegan friendly always a bonus!:)

Yelp
I looove everything about this place. Their pesto pasta is amazing, the workers are super friendly, and the overall energy is just great. When I'm down I can literally come here and feel better. I love food that can make you smile :) I also saw this poster one of the times that I came and it's nice that they have this up. Ching Hai is really inspiring, definitely search her up as well!

Yelp
We are passing through so we stopped for food. We ordered the avocado roll, the ocean sub, the happiness plate, and the fettuccine Alfredo. Everything was absolutely delicious. The avocado roll was so good that we would order that again. The ocean sub was delicious too and our other entrees were healthy and tasty. We loved our lunch.

Tatsiana L.

Yelp
When I don't have time to stop by at this place, I absolutely miss it. Their corn soup is a perfection. Avocado croissant is my favorite. Opera cake is a heaven. I always wish them more customers so that these wonderful people stay in business.

Yelp
This place has the best avocado rolls! The noodle soup had a nice broth and the noodles were cooked perfectly, not mushy. I loved the seitan beef and the tomatoes and bok choy with the broth. We'll be coming back when we're in town again.

Jazz O.

Yelp
AMAZING VEGAN FOOD! The owners are vegan themselves and so sweet! I had the Alfredo pasta and oh my gosh I hadn't had a vegan Alfredo cheese that had tasted so great since becoming vegan! The meal is filling and has pretty big proportions. It leaves just enough room for one of their awesome sundaes. They accommodated my order when I had to leave sooner than expected and packed everything up to go. Again, they were so sweet and patient since I had taken a second to order because I had not been there before and had so many options to take into consideration. A feeling I don't usually have in most restaurants. Excited to go back!

Yelp
Happiness Cafe truly lives up to its name. This place features delicious vegan food and drinks with very friendly owners. We brought our pup and the owner even brought out a small plate of dog treats (also vegan, although our dog generally is not) and offered her a chair of her own. So sweet! Literally the best vegan pistachio ice cream I've ever had, too. This spot is a must-visit if you're in the area!

R K.

Yelp
Truly delicious vegan food! We ordered corn soup, avocado rolls, and ocean melt, and it was fresh and delicious!

Yelp
Just found another wonderful restaurant that serves vegetarian food. Can't wait to try!

Yelp
Great boba drinks and other goodies, great and friendly service. Pretty store full of positive messages. Awesome desserts for vegans. Inviting place.

Yelp
Very underwhelming vegan food. I hate to give a vegan restaurant just one star, however they just can't compete with Merit Vegan, Golden Bamboo, Green Lotus, etc. So many amazing vegan food options in the South Bay. Just not this place.
google avatar

Susanna K.

Yelp
Open during pandemic. Parking lot available. Wanted a fresh fruit smoothie after lunch so decided to try the durian smoothie. It does have the durian flavor but a bit too sweet and not enough milk content to make it smoothie. Would have to try other drinks next time.

Yelp
I'm not big on vegan food (like at all) but I loved my experience at this quaint cafe! Their menu options range from teas and smoothies, to small bites and entrees. Everything is fresh and made to order by one or two people. They've got an Ocean Melt Sandwich made with "tuno" and melted vegan cheese, and also Pesto Pasta with Grilled Strips that imitate a chicken texture. I decided to be a bit adventurous today and go for a Vegan Bug Frank Hot Dog and their signature Happiness Smoothie with pearls. I didn't love the texture of a vegan dog, but the added grilled mushrooms, onions and bell peppers made the snack bearable . They could've went a little lighter on the condiments (ketchup, mustard & relish) but they were the standard that made it seem like an actual Ballpark Frank. The highlight of my meal was most certainly the Happiness Smoothie! Not sure if the base, but the flavors are coconut, mango & pineapple; very refreshing and tropical. Tastes like sunshine in a cup . Highly recommend starting your day with one of these or using as an afternoon pick-me-up. Because it's 2020, I have to talk about COVID-19 precautions. This establishment is abiding by social distancing rules, limiting customers in the cafe, providing few outdoor seating tables with less than 5 per table, providing hand sanitizer, and all staff wear masks. I felt safe ordering take-out and eating the food in my car. Thank you for the fast, friendly service!

Yelp
I'm slowly but surely migrating to a plant-based diet. A major part of my struggle, however, is that the only vegan options I found around my area were Asian. Frankly I get tired of Asian food. I stumbled on Happiness Cafe, and I'm so glad I did! Everything on the menu looked great, and I appreciated the variety. There was food besides Asian including snacks, pastas, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Furthermore, you can get smoothies, juices, "milk" teas and other boba drinks alike. I got the avocado egg-rolls, and they were very good and flavorful. I love crispy Thai roti in general, so it truly was a treat for me that it was used as the wrap for the egg-rolls. The filling consisted of shredded cabbage, some type of soy protein (looked like seitan), and a hefty helping of avocado. The side of sweet and sour sauce accompanied the egg-rolls quite well. I will definitely be coming back for this snack and will be looking forward to trying other items off the menu. I assume the man who helped me with my order was the manager and/or owner. He was also kind and patient. I spent some time perusing the menu and asking him questions about it. I liked that he was confident with the menu as he vouched for everything being vegan.

Yelp
Oh there you were Happiness Cafe! I'm not sure why we decided to check this place out until now. I think it's because I tend to get distracted by Bambu or Paris Baguette (which are all also in the same plaza). If I were to describe Happiness Cafe as I would a person, I would describe "her" as wearing a flower crown, a flowy white dress, and a pair of black high-top converse...I'm not sure...but that's the vibe I got. Happiness Cafe is characterized by bright colors and a TV that is playing some religious channel. They seem to pride themselves in offering a lot of vegan food options in addition to their many (smoothies, juices, teas, Italian sodas) drink options. The Hawaiian Hibiscus Italian Soda: A slightly flowery drink that has hints of cranberry...it has the slightest sweetness, but it's enough to provide you with a refreshing and satisfactory drink. As for the service, the lady who took the order and made it was super sweet haha

Yelp
This is months late, my apologies - I had gotten takeout from Happiness Cafe this winter back before on-site dining was allowed. As I like sweet and savory foods, I chose the waffle nuggets, which includes waffles, soy protein nuggets, salad, maple syrup, and vegan butter. The food was yummy, although I do tend to prefer my food to be crispy and I don't recall that these were particularly crisp. I'm not particularly picky about whether vegetarian/vegan protein options taste similar to their meat counterparts, so I was content with the nuggets' flavor and texture (aside from what I mentioned before). I am not a person who can finish large portions at restaurants, so their portion size was fine and I did factor in that they advertise the food as organic plus the generally high bay area food prices these days in feeling like it was fair enough for the money. I'm also curious if their proteins are made totally in house or if they buy them from other suppliers to cook. I would recommend this place if you are vegan, vegetarian, or have certain other dietary restrictions like needing to avoid dairy, or if you're generally just looking for either classic 'American' (for lack of better descriptor) dishes or a few Asian dishes (especially more East Asian or Southeast Asian based on the ingredients in used in some of them such as bok choy, cilantro, and roti).

Yelp
My go- to place for the past four years no complaints service has been great and the owner is super friendly and polite to his customers. Since the coronavirus outbreak there's been less activity and fewer take outs. I've seen people walking around with their masks and gloves on and keeping their social distance seems to be norm. I've always craved for a whipped mocha frappe or a cup of Vietnamese iced coffee both my favorites along with avocado rolls. Prices have gone up just to stayed competitive. Outdoor seating is put away no dine-in till this whole thing blows over.

Yelp
We love driving to eat here from Oakland. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the fish sandwich, the croissant rolls, the avocado rolls, and the beef over rice. Everything that we have tried here is super good and has never disappointed us.

Yelp
I've had this place on my radar for a hot second & I was so excited I got to finally try it today. They had so many menu options to choose from, but I was feeling the phish sandwich. I also read a lot of good things about the avocado rolls, plus they're on ROTI so I couldn't pass them up. The phish sandwiches were loaded with a yummy vegan mayo type of sauce & the bread was nice an soft. It was like an extremely elevated, vegan version of a McDonalds fish fillet. It was perfection, I wanted seconds (the portion isn't really that big but for the price it's great). The avocado rolls were awesome- so much flavor and texture. The dipping sauce went so well with it. I'm so happy with my experience & I can't wait to be back and try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Amazing quality drinks. I worked at a boba place for 3 years. This is an owner who cares about his quality of food. He really cares about his food. Amazing!

Yelp
I really liked this place, as it is 100% vegan, and the food I've tried was great!! I really liked their vegan hot dog, and I love how many different smoothie there are. I had their durian smoothie with boba pearls, which tasted amazing (given that I love the taste of durian) I had their tofu pudding, which I personally didn't like since it wasn't as sweet as I thought. But if you don't like too much sweetness on your desserts, I'm sure you might really like it. I'd definitely come back here again!

Yelp
I've come here a few times for the avocado rolls and the noodle soup, both of which have been consistently solid: Avocado rolls - Can't believe they taste so good. The crispy outside is outstanding, and the pesto "chicken" they put on the inside tastes suspiciously like chicken. Overall, the all the flavors (avocado, chicken, pesto, crispy wrap, the sauce) work well together and I highly recommend trying this dish. Noodle soup - Reminds me of my childhood. I don't find the protein in there to be great and could probably do without (though I didn't usually find the beef portion of this dish to be the best part back in my omnivore days either, since I was all about the noodles) and the noodles have been a little on the soft side, but the flavor of the soup is spot on and I love that the carrots are soft. The pickled mustard is also a great addition that makes the dish more authentic. An extra plus is that they have vegan desserts and bubble tea! I'll definitely continue swinging by this spot.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place after hearing such great reviews, unfortunately, this place did not live up to the hype:( As much as I appreciate their concept and ideals, their food lacked serious flavor and quality. Portions are way small and overpriced. I ordered The Happiness over rice which was a sweet soup with soggy bits veggies and fake meat served over dry rice and broccoli. i couldn't even finish it, i regret even eating it-horrible. I also ordered The Happiness Fruit Smoothie, which was a lot more edible, yet i couldn't tell exactly what kind of fruit was in it.-below average. last, i order the tiramisu, which would of been good however it was served frozen, had to wait for it to defrost before I could eat. I was decent for being vegan yet seriously over priced. 6 dollars for half a slice of frozen cake? As much as I want to support small, local, plant based restaurants, I simply cannot support this one. Unfortunately I will not be returning. Better luck next time!

Yelp
I've only had smoothies here but those tasty, delicious drinks deserve the 5 star already! Not to mention quick and friendly customer service every time!

Yelp
Just had the black milk tea both in hot and cold and fresh orange juice. It was sooo good. The cafe was very clean and the owner seems very nice and receiving. I would definitely recommend this place.
