We have been coming to Happy Apple Farm for 13 years and we love it! For us "city folk" it's a visit to a real working apple orchard. There is nothing as challenging (we can imagine) as working against the wrath of Mother Nature to make and produce a food source--nothing! Tony does a splendid job of covering every aspect of what folks might like, without spoiling, paving, and destroying what nature has created. It's not so commercialized that every single thing is perfect--it's nature at its best. Yes, some years of weather in Colorado (IT'S COLORADO!) are brutal, but we have always been able to get enough apples to make it fun and produce a household favorite--applesauce. We arrive early and have fun. Some years the apples have been so abundant (our kids pick a whopping 100 lbs!), and others the early frost or hail have reaped havoc on the flowers, causing devastation for Tony, but we still had enough to sustain us. This is true farming. No phony, commercial, fake stuff. Oh, and you will see Tony doing everything from driving the tractor with the hay ride to fixing fences to greeting visitors. This IS a labor of love within driving distance of the city.
