I am beyond pleased with my Happy Bakeshop experience. For my daughter's graduation I chose this bakery based mostly on proximity and reviews, and I was one of those annoying customers who doesn't know exactly what they want 🤣 They responded quickly and professionally to my many questions, and once I decided what I wanted I was pleased with the reasonable cost. When I went to pick the order up on Friday I was brought to tears... partly because my baby graduated lol but mostly because the cake looked ABSOLUTELY IMMACULATE!!! Just gorgeous. Beyond my expectations. My next thought was well I hope it tastes as good as it looks, and YES IT DID! Delicious. Dense, moist cake and the butter cream is just right. Highly recommend! This will be my go-to for any future cake/cupcake needs!

Google
We used Happy Bakeshop for our wedding 2 years ago and were SO happy with our experience but I never wrote a review so this is a 2-in-1. Today we picked up a gender reveal cake for our family announcement - it was picture perfect AND delicious. Any time we have an event that calls for dessert (or a random sweet tooth) we will be back!

Google
We tried several bakeries before deciding on Happy Bakeshop for our wedding desserts because they had the best flavor and texture. We got an 8" cake for cutting and an assortment of mini cookies and bars. Response time was a little slow sometimes, but overall we were very pleased! Photos by Greg at Tilted Frame Photography

Google
Happened to walk by during their $2 cupcake special. The shop smelled amazing. Our group picked out 8 cupcakes, and there were still so many others we wanted to try and didn't have room for! The cupcakes were moist for days, balanced between dense and bouncy, and had the perfect ratio of frosting (not too sweet!) and dough. We tried a couple of the GF cupcakes and they were also amazing.

Google
Actually shocked at the bad reviews! I almost didn't pick up dessert from here after reading some of them but settled for the convenience. Everyone agreed the chocolate chip cookies were out of this world good and the peanut butter cup cupcake was so excellent! Really good frosting and the cake itself was dense but not at all dry. Would recommend!

We hired Happy Bake Shop for our wedding on 2-26-22. They made our wedding cake and all of the treats for the dessert table. They also offer delivery service, which is so nice and well worth it. I worked with Evan over email and phone to go over options on desserts. She was so friendly and easy to communicate with. She was also so gracious as we kept adding to our order 🙂 When we were planning our wedding, we thought "not everyone is going to eat cake at a wedding...they are going to go for the other desserts".... we were so wrong! Our guests ate EVERYTHING! We had so many compliments on how delicious the cake and desserts were. Everything tasted so good and it all looked beautiful. We barely had any dessert left to take home. Thank you Evan and everyone at Happy Bake Shop! We are so happy we chose this bakery. Photo credit: Erica Steinhouse Photography

Google
I stopped in this afternoon to get some cupcakes to celebrate my wedding anniversary tonight and was helped by a friendly employee at the counter. They had a large selection so I picked out a half dozen. 6 hours later, my husband ate the Mexican Chocolate and found it enjoyable. However, I cut 4 more into quarters and we each tried some of the others with very different results. The white on white, red velvet, black and white and the salted caramel were incredibly dry and did not taste fresh at all. The frosting for the Salted Caramel was so bad I actually spit it out. Before today, I'd never met a cupcake I didn't like but, sadly, these were legitimately the worst I've ever had. They left me wishing I had gone anywhere else - even WalMart makes a tolerable cupcake.

Aurora

Google
Happy bakeshop did the cake and cupcakes for our wedding! Beautiful + delicious desserts - we got so many compliments 🤍 however; they did forget one of our flavors.

Yelp
On Tuesday, the cupcakes are only 2$ a piece. To me, they don't have the most moist sponge cakes on this day, but I have yet to try to pay full price on another day of the week to see if this bakery is really worthy of living on the Markets off of 33rd. At least the cupcakes are very good looking (5 stars). Almost too cute to eat!

Yelp
The best lemon bars since some I had at a tea shop in Coventry, England!!! The chocolate chip cookies with sea salt are also amazing!

Yelp
Fresh baked, tasty, Tuesday $2 cupcakes I love the carrot cake muffin Lots of yummy treats

Yelp
I had to place a last-minute order for 4 dozen cupcakes needed the next day and they came through for me! Everyone enjoyed them - they were delicious, and a few asked where I got them.

Yelp
My sons birthday was yesterday and he's been after me for weeks to make him cupcakes...and I don't want to...so we tried Happy Bakeshop instead. The shop is clean and the display case is full of beautifully decorated cookie and cupcakes. There is a healthy selection of GF offerings that looked amazing as well. I overheard the woman ahead of me talking about it being 2 for Tuesday, so I had to ask when it was my turn. All cupcakes are $2 on Tuesdays- score!! I'd gone in intending to buy 3 cupcakes- one for each of us, but left with 2 for each of us plus 2 mini-muttcakes so our pup could join in the party. My son had the carrot cake- he loved it. My husband had the red velvet, and I had the chocolate caramel. We both thought that the cakes were moist and fresh and really enjoyed the flavors. My pup gobbled his muttcakes up and was clearly delighted to have been included. We'll be back very soon, probably on a Tuesday.

Yelp
We purchased a vegan carrot cake for my sons first birthday as a "smash cake" because he has an egg allergy. My husband and I couldn't even tell it was vegan! This cake was so delicious and moist - and I had asked for low sugar so they did the "naked cake" with barely any frosting. Customer service was impeccable, responding to emails quickly and calling me for confirmations. Couldn't recommend more - thank you to the happy Bakeshop team!!

Yelp
I ordered my 22nd birthday cake from here and gave the bakers creative liberty with a few ideas for colors and I wanted daisies and butterflies. They were very professional with e-mail replies and got my cake ready about 5 days before the party. It was a Dolly Parton themed party and my cake was so cute! We got lots of compliments. The cake wasn't too sweet, and the filling had a nice strawberry flavor. Definitely will be coming back for next years cake!

Nicole L.

Yelp
This review is a bit delayed. Happy Bakeshop did a great job on a birthday cake for my son's first birthday last year! The theme was "wild one" and we wanted a cake that looked like the monster from "where the wild things are", it turned out adorable and the vanilla cake was delicious!
google avatar

Farrah M.

Yelp
I went here for the first time for cupcakes and got a variety for a birthday party. The person behind the counter wasn't too helpful when I was picking and just said the best flavors were the ones already in the box when I asked for suggestions. The frosting was way too sweet and the cakes were inconsistent and a bit dry. It had interesting flavors but the frosting was so sweet the birthday guests hardly ate any of the cupcakes. We have lots leftover that nobody in our sweet tooth house is touching. Will try somewhere different next time we need dessert.

Yelp
A great place to go for delicious cupcakes. Reasonable prices. Offers a few vegan options

Yelp
Stopped in after doing some shopping on 32nd to check out the sweets. Upon entering, everything looked so good! I ended up ordering three cupcakes: vanilla on vanilla, chocolate on chocolate, and a chocolate salted caramel. The cupcakes were super moist, the frosting was the perfect texture, and everything was very flavorful without being too sweet. Next time I'm in the area, I'll have to try more treats!

Nikki T.

Yelp
Ummmm it's okay. Had a cupcake here - it was fine. Kinda stale, decent flavor, nothing amazing. Denver needs to step up its cupcake game, that's for sure.
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I stopped by Happy Bakeshop as I was walking around looking at the shops on 32nd. I ordered a raspberry cheesecake bar and a lemon bar for my husband and I both to sample. I didn't get to my halves until that evening and they were a tad dry. The cheesecake bar filling was quite firm, more so than most cheesecakes I remember and the base was dry. The lemon bars filling was tasty and just tart enough but once again a dry-ish base. Both were good but I prefer my own lemon bars and I know I can get some great cheesecake at other locations. Maybe I'll go with what they are known for next time and try a cupcake even though cupcakes aren't usually my fav.

Yelp
Dripping with attitude and clueless employees. They missed an important detail on my order and ruined my best friend's birthday

Yelp
3.5/5 I stopped by on $2 Tuesday and tried two cupcakes -- Chai spice and cookies and cream. For $2, they were a good value, but I wouldn't come back on another day of the week since the cupcakes are really not very big. Both cupcakes had a nice flavor but were a little crunchy -- both the tops of the cupcakes and the frosting. The woman who helped me was so nice and friendly! A cute little spot!

Abby P.

Yelp
I am truly becoming addicted to the Oreo bars here! So so so delicious and an excellent size for the price. Such a cute, tidy shop to pop into with great service!

Yelp
Food: 50/50 Service: 25/25 Ambience: 25/25 BEST VEGAN BAKESHOP IN DENVER YET!!!!!! Small storefront but a perfect selection of baked goods-- both vegan and non vegan options! The vegan options are quite delightful, you dont miss the animal ingredients at all. Highly recommend!!!
google avatar

Kristin C.

Yelp
All the treats and great for different dietary needs. My son is allergic to dairy, so we frequent often to pick up some of their vegan goodies , and they are delicious. They have truly perfected their recipes. They have always been friendly and accommodating when coming in. I have ordered ahead or just walked in and I've always been pleased with their selection. It's pricey, but makes sense for the area.
google avatar

Yelp
I contacted this store for a jumbo gender reveal cupcake and they were super responsive, professional, and friendly. The cupcake tasted great according to my hubby, and I also sampled the lemon bars and marble cheesecake bar when I stopped by to pick up my jumbo cupcake. My puppy loved the pup treats they also offer! Cute little shop, beautifully displayed treats, and welcoming service, I couldn't have been more pleased.

Yelp
Great place to order birthday cakes from! The cake is cute and delicious. I try to order at least two weeks out, they get busy.
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
This bakery was close to my best friends house, and they offered gluten-free and vegan baked goods. They made samples of both regular and vegan/gluten free cupcakes. The chocolate on chocolate vegan/gluten free and dairy free cake was perfect. My husband barely let me try a bite! We should have ordered a larger cake, it was that good! It is difficult to find a bakery to accommodate vegan or gluten free. Everything was excellent and we had very few cupcakes left over when the party concluded.

Yelp
UPDATE TO OWNER'S RESPONSE: Thanks for your reply but asking customers to give this place another try doesn't address the problems identified. Many customers have had issues with freshness (especially lately -- I wish I'd checked Yelp first). We're not wrong. Asking us to spend more to "give this place another try" after buying and throwing away inedible cupcakes isn't the answer. Perhaps invest in a pastry case so that the cupcakes are not out in the open air all day. ## Eep. I wanted to support a cute local business (with friendly staff), but the cupcakes were really bad. We tried three and all three were super dry and hard on the outside (including the frosting) and therefore didn't taste remotely fresh. The person working said the cupcakes are baked fresh each day but these tasted like they were 2-3 days old at least. Disappointing.

Adrienne A.

Yelp
Baked goods are fantastic! But the customer service is poor. I came in on a Tuesday night to pick up something up for a dinner party and the girl behind the counter was very rude.
google avatar

Yelp
Happy bakeshop you make me so sad. This little bakery used to be my favorite bakery in town. From the local vibes and consistency they were amazing. They have nene so willing to do orders last minute and actually deliver on the Pinterest look. So what happened? I know they moved to a better shop but yeesh from the looks of the baked goods we had to ask several times if the owner changed. No owner change. Just location change. The banana bread we had was so dry that we ended up throwing it out. It was a dry, grainy texture. Along with the other times in the case. Seriously how can a professional baker put our macaroons with feet that high? It just looked like everything hastily thrown together. Sugar cookies frosting were really disappointing with slopping frosting to poor handwriting. This isn't the happy bake shop I remember. Not sure if we came on an off day but tbh I will not be back unless it's for a vegan option. That is the only saving grace and the only reason why id come back.
google avatar

Aaron F.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY fantastic! Highly recommend! I stumbled on this place, and I'm hooked. Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. VEGAN too! You will not regret showing this place a little love.
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!! I'm allergic to milk and there was a hefty number of vegan choices. I did carrot cake and peach bar and both were amazing. Very moist even after having the box in the fridge for a bit. Boyfriend got 2 non-vegan cupcakes (carrot cake and snickerdoodle) and he said it was the most moist things! Vegan cream cheese was best I've ever had! I'm definitely going to be back on $2 Tuesdays!!
google avatar

Guy N.

Yelp
Frosting was very good, cupcake itself was extremely dry. Had to drink a full glass of milk to get them down. Upsetting as I researched all day for my wife's bday and picked up six and her half smile was just rough to see. Had a variety of all the different cakes and they were all the same.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
Adorable bakery with a great selection. I got a few different cupcakes to try and everything was delicious. They had a couple vegan cupcake offerings (including a vegan version of their red velvet cupcake). Friendly service. Parking can be a struggle on 32nd so I'd recommend checking out the side streets.

Julianne S.

Yelp
Amazing customer service, beautiful execution, and DELICIOUS baked goods!!! Evan went above and beyond to make our dessert vision come true for our wedding. Evan was very kind, patient, proactive and generous with their time. Really just the real MVP. From the start of our first email to every call thereafter and even working our wedding, we couldn't have been in better hands with Evan. We had a tall order: we got 5 or 6 types of mini cupcakes, a 3 tier cake of 3 different flavors, all dairy-free, and cookies for goody bags suggested by Evan which Evan hand tied with mini discoballs on request. The cake was unbelievably tasty! I dream of it daily. The cupcakes were freakin adorable but sadly my plate of them got thrown out (who does that) during our reception so I never got to try them but everyone ate every last ounce of dessert which I feel never happens at weddings so this should also speak to their level of quality, presentation and flavor. The flavors are awesome too! So much variety. We went with a lemon lavender (yummm), custom coconut chocolate cinnamon (amaze), and mexican hot chocolate for cake (Okay wow). I was obsessed with, and savoring all of it. We had several left over cookies (salted choc chip and white sprinkles) and I was sooo glad cuz they were delicious. But really I want to highlight and express my gratitude for Evan. Without Evan this would not have been possible and we are sooooo thankful for your time, attention and care. You are awesome! TLDR: If you are considering Happy Bake Shop for your wedding or any event, or just a sweet treat yoself moment, I highly recommend them for quality, value, presentation and customer experience. You will not be disappointed, and they will go the extra mile for you! Thank you SO much HBS!! We can't wait to come back (but really i need to lay off the cake and cookies for a hot sec hahaha)

Yelp
Whatever you do DON'T order a gender reveal cupcake from here or any special order! I was so excited because of the reviews and this was a super special moment for my family and I. I called to place the order and told the woman that will be gender reveal and my 3 kids are going to be cutting into it. She recommended a jumbo cupcake which I went to pick up it's not so jumbo literally left there in tears and disappointment!! It was a little cupcake with a tiny little bit of pink frosting inside, tiny bit of white icing on top and UGLY rainbow sprinkles! I wish I would of took a picture of this ugly gender reveal cupcake! The woman there when I went to pick up told me when I seen it "oh you should of ordered a cake!!" WELLL I was recommended this ugly cupcake!! 4 DAYS AGO!!! She goes well since it's small but 3 others and guess what ALL 3 of my kids didn't eat any of the cupcakes they said they didn't taste good at all! Thank you Happy bake shop for ruining such a special moment!! Definitely don't do special orders here it won't be special at all!
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Hmmmmmm.. hate doing this. Maybe get your freezer checked. Or, mark on ever box how long they sat in freezer. Dry dry and dryer- flavorless and, won't peel from wrapper .' Disappointing. Purchased 5 diff cupcakes. 2 frosted cookies (They were good).
google avatar

Alexandria N.

Yelp
My friend got me the most amazing cookie cake for my Birthday. Everyone loved it, and I have been dreaming about it since!
google avatar

Mabel C.

Yelp
Man, oh man. People seem to love this place but I don't get it. I went there today for the first time. My husband and I got 2 cupcakes--a black and white and a dark chocolate/orange--and a chocolate chip cookie. Every single item was blech. Like not meh--worse--BLECH. * Cupcakes - the frosting on the black/white was good, but the cupcake was, inexplicably, chewy. That was a new one. The dark chocolate orange was horrible. The orange tasted like tang. * The chocolate chip cookie was the most tasteless dessert I've ever had. It tasted it like it had neither salt (every dessert should have a pinch of salt to bring out the sweet) nor sugar. It wasn't even sweet! It had no flavor at all. Sorry, but I will never be back.

Clara S.

Yelp
Agreed with other recent reviews - cupcakes were dry and did not taste fresh. Chocolate cupcake had little flavor, vanilla cupcake tasted a bit like pancakes, both were very dry. Frosting wasn't much better - overly sweet, hard, and dense. Frosting to cake ratio was off. Workers were very friendly though.
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
Great selection, friendly staff and rich flavors. They also have options for those who may be restricted by dietary concerns. A little pricey but that's to be expected for good quality sweets and in this neighborhood.
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
Love Happy Cakes. Covid happened, we had to cancel a big trip, and needed a birthday cake within three days and they created a delicious masterpiece AND had it delivered to my house! Appreciate them and their super professional and kind service! And the cake was adorable AND delicious! Thanks guys!
google avatar

Jessica J.

Yelp
Happy Cakes definitely has the cute factor when it comes to tiny bake shops. I came around the corner after a venture into West End Books and loved the site of a propped open door with patrons spilling out! Good sign :) Small shop with no place to sit (spots outside if it's warm). Still you are greeted with stacks of fresh baked cupcakes in a variety of flavors. I didn't go too crazy, tried a black and white (vanilla cream icing was perfection) and a chocolate salted caramel one (which had the sweet salty going on). The cake was moist and sweet. The icing was smooth and sweet and had just the right amount to balance out with the cake. I loved them both and the size & price was right! No bloated prices or sizes here (I ate the regular size, there are others). I loved 'em! Note: Gluten Free available.
google avatar

Foodies L.

Yelp
I got my daughters birthday cake from here and it was absolutely delicious!!!!!! The Umi zoomi character was super cute and my 2 year old daughter just LOVED it!!! It was a chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache and cream cheese frosting. The cake was extremely moist and the ganache was perfectly velvety, creamy, and fudge like. Over all the cake was not extremely sweet and the flavors had a nice blend, it was perfect. I will definitely get future cakes for here for birthdays, holidays, or special events. What a wonderful dessert. This was definitely not a let down. In fact the next morning my daughter woke up and asked for cake for breakfast, and she is certainly a picky eat, she has refused to eat certain cakes and cupcakes in the past, but then again so have me and husband. If it's not good she won't eat it, no matter what it is, and neither will we. She's a smart girl. (I scratched out my daughters name on the cake image for privacy)
google avatar

Robin S.

Yelp
After reading all the great reviews we decided to give Happy Bakeshop a try. We went Sunday morning to get treats for a party in honor of our 94 year old grandma. Disappointed to say the least. Dry, hard and not very tasty unless you like chocolate cardboard. They seemed very old. 40 bucks for 12 cupcakes that made no one happy at all. Unfortunately word got around at the party that the cupcakes were pretty bad so you've got 25 people telling 25 people and so on that they should think twice about patronizing this bakery. The one star is for effort I guess.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Ugh, nice shop and very nice workers, but maybe the worst cupcakes I've ever had?? Yellow cake cupcake was dry and tough on top, and yet gummy and wet on the bottom (was kind of gross). Not sure how they achieved that? Other cupcakes also had dry tops but at least were more consistent. Frosting was sweet but often didn't have a lot of flavor -- I'm sorry, but there are many better places to get cupcakes in Denver.

Amy E.

Yelp
Hands down the best lemon bar I've ever had (don't tell my mom!). Lemon filling was perfect - not too sweet not too tart - and crust was not dry at all. Cupcakes (we bought 6 different flavors) were ALL delicious, too!

Mackenzie M.

Yelp
I've been a customer of Happy Bakeshop for years and I've always been extremely satisfied with their work. This year my husband and I made a custom order with them for our daughter's birthday party. We asked for cookies and cupcakes, and for the cookies to be decorated like soccer balls and for icing to be dyed neon colors to go with her party theme. When we got the cookies and cupcakes we ordered, we were extremely disappointed. Not only were the cookies all different sizes and therefore all baked differently, but the decoration looked like they spent a total of 2 minutes on it for the entire order. Either that, or they had some random individual on the street walking by do the decor. I e-mailed the shop with photos of the cookies and cupcakes expressing my disappointment, and they couldn't even be bothered to respond to me. I expected more from a small local business. I will not be returning to them anymore.
google avatar

Erika H.

Yelp
Yum yum yum!! Not only was the girl working super nice but the cupcakes were great. I'm not a huge fan of frosting but the red velvet was a good combo. One cupcake was a perfect amount for me and I bought a box for a friend! *Also, cupcakes are only $2 on Tuesdays :)
google avatar

Kayla F.

Yelp
Happy Bakeshop hits the spot when you need some sugar but I leave disappointed more often then not. They are SO INCONSISTENT. If you go for anything other than cupcakes, it is really hit or miss. Macarons that are nearly $3 each that are completely air and fall apart at the first bite because they crumble away. Cookies that one day are PERFECT and the next day are a literal inch taller and inch smaller in diameter. The tastes are always good but baking is an art AND a science and the inconsistency is a total disappointment.
google avatar

Hayden P.

Yelp
This adorable bakery made me a cake for my one year anniversary but they also do good cupcakes (including a great deal on Tuesdays). I'm a big fan of just the traditional vanilla cake with vanilla icing.
google avatar

Julian B.

Yelp
I love this place! I found it while wandering 38th and it was every bit as good as advertised. I tried the Cherry Coke and peanut butter ones on my first trip and both of them were awesome. The Cherry Coke is by far my favorite one that I've tried so far, it does legitimately taste like the soda. The peanut butter was layered on the inside, which was pretty neat. I came back a few days later because I wanted to try to Mexican chocolate and it was fine. The orange spice one was fine too, but I don't like spiced cake. And for the people saying that it's expensive, it's cheaper than most cupcake stores I've gone too but better. So I like the variety, there's one worth trying on every day of the week. I want to come back and try them all. They also have gluten-free and vegan-friendly options. This is a very high four stars too, if they all tasted as good as the Cherry Coke then it'd definitely be 5.
google avatar

Theresa R.

Yelp
I so wanted to love these and feel happy but the cake is very dense and lacks depth of flavor and the frosting is a heavy sugar... I prefer a creamy frosting that blends with the cake, this cupcake the frosting is hard but they do recommend refrigeration for freshness but it left it dry and not very palatable. Carmel didn't taste as such, not a big maple flavor with the maple bacon and the vanilla is more like a pound cake, they do look delicious and were a thoughtful gift which I so wanted to love...
google avatar

Ali N.

Yelp
Oh my god! We got a dozen box to try different things and take some to work! 1) everything we tried was delicious. My personal favorite was the salted caramel, to die for. 2) took to work 2 days after purchasing and was still fresh like no other! Highly recommended

Yelp
After searching for different options I ran into this place online. Stopped by and order a cake for my daughter's 4th birthday. I provided the picture of what I envisioned the cake will look like, and they did a really good job recreating it and adding a special touch. The price was very reasonable. The taste was great, slightly dry for my taste but the combination with the chocolate filling was well balanced. I recommend this place! To keep in mind: Make sure you let the cake at ambient temperature long enough. The chocolate filling was delicious but it was too hard when we cut the cake. It needed more time outside to melt a little bit (once that happened it got much better!)
