We were in town for the weekend and stopped by Happy Café for Saturday brunch around 12:30 PM with a party of four. We were greeted right away and only waited about 5–10 minutes for a table. The customer service was truly 10/10—from the hostess to our server, and even the owner’s mom, Mrs. V, who added such a warm and personal touch.
The vibe inside was super cute and cozy, with a few designated spots perfect for photo ops, and even a small bar tucked in the back, which added to the charm.
The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Belgian waffles, vegan sausage, and loaded hash brown potatoes, while my family enjoyed the pancakes, sausage, and the fried fish special of the day—whiting with eggs, potatoes, and grits.
As a tea girlie, I was excited to see a tea selection on the menu! I ordered the burgundy English breakfast and my aunt had the ginger peach. Both were served hot in small teapots, which added such a thoughtful and charming touch to our service.
This was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be the last—we’ll be back next time we’re in VA!
