Happy Café is simply delightful. The atmosphere is elegant yet warmly nostalgic — it feels like a refined version of your grandmother’s home. Every detail exudes charm and comfort. And the food… truly spectacular! Each dish is crafted with care and impeccable taste. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Oh my goodness! What a brunch! What an ATMOSPHERE! I googled restaurants near me and decided to try the Happy Café because it had the best reviews (and I can see why!). We went on a packed Sunday (Nov 9, 2025), and we were greeted warmly! Comfortable Chic chairs were available while we waited. The staff checked in often while we waited and offered water. They were so attentive even before we sat down! The owner Tamika (hope I spelled her name right) personally checked in to make sure we were seated in a timely manner! Her mother Mrs. V came to talk to us often during her shift to check in on the food. And the waitress Marisa was PHENOMENAL! The food came out PIPING hot, and within 2-10 minutes of ordering. We were so shocked at the speed. I had the Burgundy black tea and never have i had tea so flavorful! (And it wasn't a tea bag, they were loose leaves steeped in your own tea pot! Amazing!). The grits in the shrimp and grits were SO creamy, the cajun sauce on it (same sauce as what's on the grilled corn) was to die for! SO SEASONED and creamy! Omg. The blueberry pancakes are a MUST. Everything was just perfect. Made more perfect by the professional but warm staff! It felt like family! Mrs. V even gave me and my son a hug and it felt like I was leaving grandma's house! I didn't want to leave. I'm so exited to have found this GEN. I can't wait until next payday to come back! P.S. -Do NOT leave without getting the bread pudding! It's smothered in a thick caramel sauce that cannot be passed up! Omg. This place. So amazing!!!!!!

Breakfast: A good idea- the menus were on the table so I could study up on my order as soon as I sat down. The waitress brought water and a big cup of flavorful coffee and soon took my order. it’s difficult to get eggs over medium cooked right. Mine were perfect. Good sausage patties, excellent buttered wheat toast. Nice instrumental jazz background music. And a BIG consideration these days - the place was not too loud and has a nice front lounge to await a carryout order. They even have a hot tea menu that I’ll be sure to try next time. I’ll be back

Found this gem on Yelp when we landed at the airport hungry. OUTSTANDING food! We all 4 cleared our plates. Gorgeous atmosphere. Super friendly staff. We had the Cafe Roast, The Italian, Club Sandwich, Beef Tower, fries and OMG the delicious mac-n-cheese! 100% recommend this great place and we will definitely come back!

We were in town for the weekend and stopped by Happy Café for Saturday brunch around 12:30 PM with a party of four. We were greeted right away and only waited about 5–10 minutes for a table. The customer service was truly 10/10—from the hostess to our server, and even the owner’s mom, Mrs. V, who added such a warm and personal touch. The vibe inside was super cute and cozy, with a few designated spots perfect for photo ops, and even a small bar tucked in the back, which added to the charm. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Belgian waffles, vegan sausage, and loaded hash brown potatoes, while my family enjoyed the pancakes, sausage, and the fried fish special of the day—whiting with eggs, potatoes, and grits. As a tea girlie, I was excited to see a tea selection on the menu! I ordered the burgundy English breakfast and my aunt had the ginger peach. Both were served hot in small teapots, which added such a thoughtful and charming touch to our service. This was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be the last—we’ll be back next time we’re in VA!

You know how you ride by someplace in your neighborhood all the time and you go in one day?? Well I'm so glad that I stopped at the Happy Cafe on Diamond Springs Rd. I got the special for the day Seafood and Grits and it was delicious. The service was amazing and the owners mom is the hostess and she was fabulous. Happy Cafe

Byrd was an amazing server and so sweet! From the outside this place might not look like much but as soon as you enter through those doors, the beautiful decor and relaxing atmosphere brings you in. When you enter, there is a to go, but the magic is where the restaurant and the bar is on the other side. I had a simple eggs and bacon with toast. I loved their tea. I had Lavender lemon tea highly recommend if you go! Overall, a great experience I will definitely be returning.

First time at Happy Cafe and I really enjoyed myself! We were greeted & seated by Ms. V who just radiates warmth & light. She was beautiful, personable, and asked multiple times how everything was going! I thought the menu had a lot of variety and the specials for that day seemed to be tasty as well. I ended up going with a lovely lavender tea which came out in this personal pot with my own little honey and lemons. I had enough tea for 3 people and I certainly drank it all. It was PERFECT and priced so WELL! (One thing I'll note is that as my friends were attempting to order their drinks the server advised that they seemed to be out of a few of the fruit flavor options.) For my meal I ordered the waffle w/sausage, scrambled cheese eggs and added loaded potatoes. The eggs stood out to me as they were soft, buttery and so cheesy! The waffle was fluffy and had really good flavor! I cleaned my plate up!!! Our server was kind and made some good suggestions but the young lady who bought out our food was not. I didn't catch her name so I can only describe her, she had a high pony, her hair was highlighted with brown (like a fall brown/maybe honey) and she had on navy blue crocs no socks. Every interaction with her was off putting and it kind of skewed my experience at the end just a tad. And I know everyone has their days as well. This older lady I worked with over 10 years ago used to remind me often to treat everyone kindly and to be respectful. Your aura can affect people and you never know who you are interacting with or how they might possibly influence you but an attitude can dissuade someone very easily. Overall all despite that I would certainly go back! The atmosphere was so chill and comfortable! The crowd was mixed and you could tell everyone felt at ease.

100% THRILLED over this sweet spot! My friend and I were visiting VA Beach for a couple of days and when I posted a picture of the beach on my Facebook page, a friend reached out and said we MUST go to the Happy Cafe. It's not particularly close to the ocean front, but it is, for the most part, on the way back to Richmond. We decided to check it out. The Happy Cafe is located in a little strip mall, kind of ordinary looking on the outside. Once you step in you notice the attention to the welcoming detail. Every item is placed with intention. The feel is fluid, cohesive, calm. The slow jazz playing on the sound system is unique for a breakfast/lunch cafe and these guys pull it off flawlessly. Any hint of stress, GONE! The entire staff was welcoming...everyone in sight spoke to us as we entered and "hosted" to our table. Our waitress was super friendly and efficient. The menu is varied and eclectic. Even though I went in knowing what I was going to have based on a photo online, I had a tough time deciding. I did order what I originally wanted, Avocado Toast. My friend ordered the Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly. The kitchen had our lunch to our table in a jiffy. OMG!! The fanciest Avacado Toast EVER. Topped with spinach, cherry tomatoes and a drizzling of Balsamic. Soooo tasty! The gooey, drippy grilled PB&J was equally as delicious (friend let me take a bite!) I must mention the restroom...sparkling clean, intentional attention to detail, just like the rest of the space. Hand lotions...one for women, one for men. "High End" if you will.... We didn't consider the deserts while at the table...we just forgot. BUT... warm, decorated, dreamy looking donuts are displayed on the front counter. We stood there for a minute debating...We had no more room and tossed around the calorie and sugar aspect a bit before we sadly declined. Sad, sad walk to the car as we said no to that Graduate Donut and all it's yummy looking friends. We might have to go back just for a donut. If you are visiting or living in the VA Beach area, please do yourself a favor and go have a meal at the Happy Cafe. You won't be disappointed.

Menu has good variety and decently priced for the quality of food. We enjoyed brunch. Varied hours is weird so hard for consistency. Cute design and decor.

Great Hostess, Average Experience The best thing about Happy Café was hands-down the hostess she truly lived up to the phrase "hostess with the most!" Super friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, she greeted us like we were stepping into her own home. She set the tone for what we hoped would be a great brunch. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell a little short. Service was on the slower side, and we were disappointed to learn that we couldn't start with cocktails right away because the bartender hadn't arrived yet. None of the staff seemed confident in making drinks, so one of the waitresses gave it a try. We ordered the mimosa flight, and while it looked cute, the flavors were pretty bland. The watermelon mimosa was the standout, but even that one was just okay. As for the food, it was...fine. Nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. I had the French toast, and it was just your basic, average plate nothing to rave about. My friend and I both agreed that we probably wouldn't return, especially with so many other great brunch spots nearby. They've got a great hostess and a charming vibe, but they definitely missed the mark on drinks, timing, and food quality. Here's hoping they find their stride!

Super excited to try out this hidden gem! We were not disappointed. It gives "family business" vibes for sure! It is a small establishment, but the food and service are wonderful. They were definitely busy on a Saturday, and you can feel it. It took a little long to get our drinks and food, but we didn't mind at all. The food was delicious and the flavors for the mimosas were fun! We will definitely be back.

After seeing so many great food reviews of Happy Cafe, my friend and I decided to do breakfast there last month. We were instantly greeted by the wonderful Ms. Vanessa, who was a family member of the owner. She gladly expressed that Happy Cafe was a family owned and operated restaurant and if we needed anything, to just let her know. We wanted to start with one of their signature drinks from the menu but was told that the bartender (a family member) hadn't made it in yet so we had to stick with something simple. We decided to order two Mimosa Flights so that we could taste all of the flavors, which consisted of strawberry, blueberry, watermelon, pineapple and orange, to name a few. Unfortunately, most of the mimosas didn't have much juice and tasted just like champagne so they did remake them for us, adding in a little extra juice. My favorite was the watermelon. Our food was served fairly quickly. I decided on the Veggie Egg Scrambler with Blue's Browns (minced hash browns) and bacon. The eggs were okay but the hash browns were thick and dry. My friend ordered the French Toast, which was very good and the Fully Loaded Blue's Browns, which were a bit dry and salty to me. Overall, we had a decent experience. Unfortunately, the bartender showed around the time we finished eating so we didn't get to try any signature drinks. We arrived at 10am and barely anyone was there but by 11:30am, it was pretty packed so keep that in mind if you decide to visit!

Stopped here on our way to the airport and had a great experience! Fast, friendly service. Everyone enjoyed the calm, clean atmosphere. The photo of the service members on the wall was pretty cool. We had a party of 6 - 2 ordered breakfast items and 4 ordered sandwiches. Everyone loved their food!

I must say, this spot was a good happy place to get good food and service. It's in a shopping center with many other businesses so the parking can be difficult. I went on a Saturday about 1pm and the place was still packed. Reservations are recommended as we were told, but luckily there were seating at the bar. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles, which consist of bourbon sticky wings! Omgeee so yum! I had chicken sausage, gluten free toast and loaded hash browns. It was such a simple meal but so yummy and flavorful. They also offer cocktails and it wasn't too heavy on the liquor which for me was fine. This is definitely a place I will make as my regular rotation when dining out.

Service was superb - they greet you when you enter just right at the door, they give you a great welcome smile when you approach to order. I came in to order to go as I figured got places to go and I didn't want to be the last one served as they are closing in 45 minutes. It was a toss up between waffle meal or shrimp and grits. I went with the latter. The order came out within 5 to 7 minutes! Ambiance is that of a neighborhood cozy cafe. They have a cute waiting area with sofa and toss pillows. They even refilled the candy dish while I was waiting. Now the ultimate test: taste. WOW! The shrimp and grits was delicious! 6 large shrimps and the grits was creamy and the sauce was divine! Will definitely go back to try all other selections!

After two experiences spread apart over 10 months I now feel comfortable weighing in with a review. I regret it was no more than average for me on both occasions. The combination of food, service and atmosphere were all considered. The location is tucked away off North Hampton Blvd beside Subway in a strip. Surface parking was not an issue with plenty of availability on a weekday before noon. As you enter the kitchen it's wide open for viewing. No hostess was present. Staff was welcoming and invited us to take a seat anywhere. The room that you first enter is a holding area when they are on wait. It has couch and few chairs and is nice. Also it was clean. The dining room is combo of table and chairs with booth along the walls. They offer an accent wall for photo ops. There is a small bar that was busy both visits. Everything was tidy and nice background music played that was just the right volume. Menus and utensils are placed on the tables with salt, pepper and coffee creamer packages. Both visits service was slow to start and blah once service began. I will highlight my second experience with it being most fresh. However, my initial thoughts were average after my first visit ordering the same dish. I decided they needed another look. Our waitress after a delay got drink and food orders. It appears there was only one wait staff for the business. She also covered the bar. I ordered French toast which comes with two eggs and meat. They could not do over easy per staff as someone called out. My son got a Cody Breakfast Club. My coffee came out quickly and did not taste good. Food was pushed out quickly which was super appreciated. Everything looked great! I requested another cup of coffee which was delivered in no time and much better. The plate for my son was pretty good, no wow but huge! He enjoyed. My dish was completely underwhelming with French toast that was dry and unflavored even with syrup that is prepped prior to serving. Eggs better, sausage patties were great. Checkout was timely. The price point high with tax and tip $45. I'm unsure what other see that I missed with a current 5 star composite rating. I'm 3.5 rounding down and feel good about this placement. I personally will not rush back with other options to try.

Very cute brunch spot! From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us like VIPs--super friendly, welcoming, and on top of everything. Seriously, they've got their timing down to an art form. The menu strikes a nice balance: all the breakfast classics you crave, plus daily specials read out by your cheerful server (a nice touch!). Parents, rejoice--a dedicated kids' menu is here, and my son is still talking about the French toast sticks. Kid-approved and parent-relieving! Now let's talk about the food because, wow. The loaded hash browns? Easily the best I've ever had--flavorful, and piled with goodness. The pancakes were perfectly fluffy clouds of happiness, and the mimosa flight was a fun addition to the meal. Pro tip: they're a little on the boozy side, so maybe split them with a friend if you want more of those fruity vibes. Excellent brunch cocktail selection. I'd prefer a little more flavor to my mimosa though. Overall, this spot had great food, even better service, and a cozy vibe that makes you want to linger just a little longer. We'll definitely be back!

10's across the board! Service, amazing. Food, amazing. Atmosphere, amazing. I had the waffle sandwich and deviled eggs as an app, every single bite was delicious. Their potatoes are scrumptious. Our server was great and Ms Vee, the customer service lady is such a delight. Do yourself a favor, stop reading this and start driving to the location! You won't regret it.

Happy to see that this place is getting recognition is the best brunch spot in Virginia Beach. Obviously it's not too shabby for lunch either.

We loved the Happy Cafe. You may come in unhappy but you will leave filled with nothing but joy. The service was amazing. The food was very delicious. I had their veggie scramble with toast and bacon. To drink I ordered the blueberry tea. My family members had a pancake and hot honey chicken, as well as the vegan breakfast. It was very clean. We can't wait to visit again.

Got seated right away when we walked in, food was really good and our waitress was really friendly. My mimosa took a long time to be made because the bartender was too busy talking to his friend so the waitress had to remind him to make it. The restaurant was about to close at 3pm and I kinda felt like the young ladies cleaning up the tables were trying to rush us out at 2:20pm. They had a cute wall decor with fake flowers and neon sign but wasn't able to snap a picture since a family was sitting there. Breakfast BLT is good!

My Nan and I split you, bacon egg, and cheese waffle with chicken added, and it was probably the best sandwich I've ever eaten. Great customer service felt very welcome. We loved it.

Family owned breakfast/ lunch establishment in the land locked side of Virginia Beach (not near the beach). We had a reservation for 1145, we didn't get sat until 1215 . But this was a Sunday, which they rarely open up for brunch on Sundays. Smaller sized menu, no sandwiches or salads more like a small breakfast portion and a specials list with hardier entrées. One of my guests had scrambled eggs, fresh fruit cup, and gluten-free toast and everything she said was delicious. My husband and I shared the gumbo grits, which were outstanding!!!! I can't tell you how creamy these grits were in the gumbo had just enough spice. There was plenty of crawfish. The shrimps were good sized, and the portion of crab was surprisingly good. I will definitely visit this cozy little gem next time I'm in the area.

1st time there and can't wait to return. Heard about Happy Cafe from my niece that worked at the nearby elementary school and thought I'd give them a try. Immediately greeted as we walked in, the hostess said there would be a wait .......(don't let that deter you) again first time there I was surprised to see a full bar. If you're so inclined- enjoy once seated we were promised that we'd leave happy Todays specials were shrimp & grits, seafood grits and a whiting breakfast (my choice) eggs, home fries,whiting,with wheat toast every bite was delicious and as promised we left happy, full and with leftovers for later. While I'd love to gate keep who doesn't want everyone to be Happy (Cafe)

This restaurant is quaint, clean, and the food is very very good. The owner is hands on and very friendly. I have been there many times and every meal was GREAT!

You can't get no better than this soul food cooking!! Trust me, everybody soul ain't right that be cooking your cooking your food. But when I tell you, this food hits your heart before it hits your stomach. The people are amazing and have GREAT customer service. You won't be disappointed. Happy stomach, happy cafe.

I wanted to highlight this restaurant in Virginia Beach called the Happy Cafe. The food, staff, and vibe were wonderful. The people were welcoming, attentive, and wanted to make sure our experience and meal was a memorable experience, and they succeeded. The food was piping hot when it hit the table. If you are ever in this area be sure to stop in you will not regret it.

The food is great, but the customer service is better. From begging to end they make you feel welcomed, and go out thier way to ensure you have an amazing dining experience. A must visit restaurant in the 757 area

5 stars for the pancakes!!! The absolute best pancake I have ever had and I have had many all over the US and Japan. This has to be the BEST one ever. My kids and I still talk about it today and I want to give my kudos to the owner who developed this recipe!!!!! Job well done!!!!

Wonderful breakfast place and the food is really tasty! This is a great place to meet up with some friends! I love how our server came up with suggestions for my little one to eat! She enjoyed the bowl of fruit. We ordered avocado toast for her as well. But, it looked so good that I ended up sharing the toast with the table. It was very tasty! I ordered the waffle and wings special. I enjoyed eating the wings. It was nice and crispy! I was glad it wasn't greasy! This place serves vegan food! It's nice to know that there is more than one option for vegan food! We really enjoyed the service! Our server was great! I'm glad there was someone who bussed the plates. I've been pretty disappointed when it comes to eating and then paying such an expensive amount for the food. I was pleasantly surprised and my family and friends were happy campers!

I've always wanted to try this place!! We came for brunch, and the specials were super exciting! I got the blueberry pancake, the flavor was perfect. Not too sweet, but that blueberry pops. THE HASH BROWNS!!!! YOU MUST GET THE HASH BROWNS!!!! They are cheesy goodness. The seasoning make these potatoes dance in your mouth. The French toast was yummy and fluffy. My brother got the seafood dish with Cajun sauce and potatoes. That was my favorite, so so delicious. The Cajun sauce brings everything together so perfectly. Service was great, and the staff were all kind and helpful. The place is decorated with flowers and other cute decor. Definitely a must go. I really want to go again for lunch because the sandwiches look really good. To next time!

I seriously was considering not posting so I could keep this gem of a place all to myself! Cute cafe near Northampton Blvd and Diamond Springs. Greeted immediately and put on a wait list. 30 minute estimate for a brunch wait was only 15 minutes before we were seated. Server came right away for our drink orders. Food came out super fast and was delicious! The bread for the avocado toast was SO good. The bacon and eggs were hot and perfect. The hostess talked to us for a bit when waiting for our food. When we left, the kitchen and staff all thanked us and wished us a good day. I felt like I became part of their family on this first visit and can't wait to go back. Amazing prices, fast service, great food! NOTE: Friday's they have happy hour with specials on drinks and apps

The only negative comment is the wait time was about 15 minutes because they were SO busy! They were busy beause this place rocks! My wife and I ordered the Shrimp and Grits Jumbalya. It was FANTASTIC!. Spicy, full of shrimp, crawdads, and a huge lump of crab in the middle. The grits were cheesy and great. My 86 yo mother had a cup of fruit and said it was fresh and delicious. She also had the scrambled eggs which were not fake; three real eggs. The place was rockin'! The hostess, whom I assume was the owner, came by to check on our visit several times. She was very accomidating considering we had my 86 yo mother with us. The bar was hopping with business. We were asked to be happy, eat happy and leave happy. We didi! Thank you for a nice experience for me but especially a rare, fun outing for my mother.

The service from the moment we walked in was amazing! The owner walked around multiple times and was super social and talked to us getting to know us. I ordered the shrimp and grits and by far was absolutely amazing and so worth ordering! I will say I was not expecting as much of a sit down style like it was but was still amazing spot. I couldn't say anything bad about this place. Phenomenal.

The staff greeted me as I walked in the restaurant. The restaurant is gorgeous and very clean as well! The Yelp App suggested this restaurant to me. If I could give them 10 stars I would. We stopped by based on yelp reviews. This place DID NOT disappoint! My husband and I came in and split a turkey stack sandwich- literally it was big enough for two. I had their French fries - hot, crispy just the way fries should be. My husband ordered a side of truffle Mac n cheese. OMG this dish was amazing, seriously amazing. It was rich and creamy with that truffle taste. WOW I don't think we've ever had better (including what we make at home lol). This is a Foodie's Delight- you won't be disappointed. We will be back. Not only was the food great but the staff was friendly and service was quick. Fast, friendly and great food in one sentence doesn't happen often.

JUST got home but I already can't wait to eat here again! Checked them out near their 11am opening on a Friday, and we were one of the first people there. While you can order at the counter for to-go orders, and there is a lovely seating area to wait, for dine in you can seat yourself. Our server was over quickly to take drink orders and checked in frequently. I was torn because the entire menu looks amazing, but went with the Cafe Roast and fries, and a side of the Truffle Mac and Cheese. Dining out with a toddler isn't always ideal but at least you can order more carby sides and know you'll have help eating them? Haha. I'm going to start with the Truffle Mac and Cheese because we have high standards fo90sr great Mac and cheese in this family and this might be the best one I've ever had. Like, even better than our famous family recipe that everyone always asks for. It was baked in it's own dish and topped with a thick layer of flavorful cheeses. The inside was perfectly creamy with just the right sauce to noodle ratio. The Cafe Roast is shredded chuck roast beef in a french onion sauce, with havarti cheese served on a ciabatta bun. I questioned if it should come with a dip, but the beef is SO juicy, the ciabatta so soft, it all melted together perfectly. The fries were also great- they came out hot and have that delicious extra crunchy exterior. While the food was phenomenal, the service was just as good. Every single person we interacted with from the moment we walked in seemed so genuine and friendly, and our server Shayla was so sweet and helped with any questions we had about the menu. Looking forward to going back to try the Cobb Salad and hopefully check out one of their famous brunches soon! (They do have a kids menu which is really wonderfully priced!)

Stopped in for a late breakfast, there was no warm greeting. It took ten minutes for someone to come to our table and the place was not crowded. Workers were standing around. The pancakes were good. The eggs, hash browns, sausage were salty. We had to ask for something to drink. The food was average. Hopefully the customer service will get better.

Happy Cafe is a fantastic spot that fell through the cracks for me. I originally visited HC back in early 2020, just before the pandemic took place. I came in on a Sunday afternoon. Now that I think about it, I came in the afternoon of 1/5/20, because the Vikings-Saints NFC Wildcard game was playing on one of their TVs while I was dining. I remember this because one of the cooks came out to watch some of the game and turned to me to ask, "Who's your team?" That sparked a lovely convo about the NFL which made me feel right at home, as I'm a huge sports fan and enjoy endlessly debating players, teams, sporting events, etc. I'm fairly confident the man I spoke to was one of Happy Cafe's co-owners. Regardless, he was friendly, happy to chat it up and was likely responsible for my delicious entree. I was seated quickly upon entering as they were not busy. My server arrived soon after - she was friendly, attentive and gave off a vibe that she was willing to help with anything. I ordered a Coke and looked over the menu. I decided on the Happy Italian which, when it arrived, was both fantastic and plentiful. I chose tomato soup as my side and it both warmed and filled me up. I planned on going back, but COVID hit and I simply forgot about them. I will definitely hit them up again because I enjoyed my only visit. Thank you, Happy Cafe! JV

Wow! Can't believe I hadn't come here sooner! A quick walk from my house is Happy Café, a cute little restaurant with food that packs big flavor, awesome music, and amazing service!! My boyfriend and I came by for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We were quickly seated in the dining room, where a live musical performance was taking place! I work next door and have heard people belting out tunes, and always wanted to see an event for myself. We came at the perfect time!! There are fresh flowers on every table, which is so cool. The adorable logo bedazzles the wall. There is plenty of seating and the interior of the restaurant is just very pretty looking! Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. She always made sure we were cared for. The dining room WAS quite loud due to the music, but she was very patient with us. I asked for orange juice and she thought I said champagne. Lolol. I do not have a loud voice. So.. I ordered the avocado toast w vegan sausage, and the hash browns everyone raves about. My boyfriend got "The Cook" bagel, which has sausage, ham, bacon, pastrami, egg, and pepper jack, along with a regular bagel w cream cheese and hash browns. Everything came out delicious! It is so cool that they have vegan sausage. I loved it! The presentation was so nice with the avocado toast. I loved the hash brown dome. They are like riced potatoes. They were so flavorful and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend devoured his breakfast bagel. Their breakfast options are unique and so delicious!! We will absolutely be back and I will try one of their many smoothie options and their other wares. This restaurant definitely strives to make regular customers with their positive vibes and obvious passion for what they do! Love it!!!

Really lovely place. They just renovated about two weeks ago and you can tell - it's beautiful and the vibe is immaculate. The food is amazing, too. My mom and I both got pancakes (their special this day was raspberry red velvet pancakes) and they were SO delicious! Their breakfast potatoes are a can't-miss as well. Everyone we interacted with was so kind and accommodating. I completely understand why Happy Cafe has near perfect ratings!! I will be back for sure.

Absolutely outstanding food. The lemon waffle and jerk wings were incredibly good. Alexis our server was a gem, she was clear and direct with ordering while describing everything perfectly. Overall the service is great, because everyone touches every table and keeps plates clear, with fast refills and friendly chatter. It was busy when we went in and waited almost no time at all for our food. We will definitely return next time we're in town.

Don't Worry, Eat Happy! This is a motto etched in the interior of this cafe, one that captures their mood and vibe perfectly. Happy Cafe is a black and woman owned business that originated in Blackstone, Virginia, in 2016. They moved to Virginia Beach in late 2019, just before the COVID pandemic hit us in 2020. It is tucked away in the same strip mall shopping center as Susan's Kitchenette on Diamond Springs Road, just before Northampton Boulevard. Parking is plentiful. Their front counter hits your eyes as you enter and is available for those who want to place a take-out order. Comfortable chairs are provided for waiting. Dine-in service is available in the main dining area over to the left. A warm and friendly greeting awaited me with each of my visits as I was led to their dining room. I enjoyed the following during two lunch visits and one Saturday brunch visit: CAFE ROAST: Shredded Chuck Roast Beef, French Onion, and Havarti Cheese on a Ciabatta Bun. This one was listed as one of their Signature Sandwiches. This was a timely order, as I was in the mood for a roast beef sandwich. The shredded roast beef was juicy and flavorful. The flavors of the French Onion and Havarti cheese came through nicely. If I could tweak their recipe a bit, I would have liked to have seen a little bit of pink. I always like my roast beef a bit on the rare side. Otherwise, it was very satisfying. My Rating: 4 Stars. ULTIMATE CLUB SANDWICH: Swiss, American, and Cheddar Cheese, Turkey, Ham, Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato on Sourdough Bread. I skipped the Mayo. This was another one of their Signature Sandwiches. This was the most awesome Club Sandwich I have ever eaten. The meats and cheeses combined together beautifully and rocked my world with an explosion of flavors. The bacon and the bread delivered a nice crunchy texture as the other ingredients melted in my mouth. I ate half of it during my visit and took the rest home. It was my lunch and my dinner for the entire day, leaving me stuffed and happy. My Rating: 5-Plus Stars. WARM DONUT WITH SALTED CARAMEL ICING: Ordered as a small dessert, this one hit the spot nicely. It was a cake style donut that melted in my mouth as the salted caramel icing added love notes to my tongue. My Rating: 5 Stars. SPINAPPLE: This one was listed among their Smoothies and was a delicious blend of frozen Green Apple and Pineapples. I added some Matcha powder from their list of add-on ingredients, which delivered some extra flavor and an energy boost. This was one of the most magically delicious smoothies I have ever enjoyed. My Rating: 5-Plus Stars. SHRIMP & GRITS: This was a special addition during a Saturday brunch event, which I attended with the 757 Foodie dining group. This version was prepared with a delicate and exquisite Cajun Cream Sauce that added a little bit of spice. The shrimp were plump and juicy with their tails intact, which is always my preference. The grits were creamy and delicious. My Rating: 5 Stars. I also ordered two sides with my Shrimp & Grits: HASH BROWNS: The potatoes came cut up in small rice sized pieces and were presented in a dome shaped mold. They were tasty enough, but I would have liked just a little more seasoning. I always like a little paprika with my hash browns. My Rating: 4 Stars. FRUIT CUP: This one came with a beautiful display of strawberries and blackberries on top, Underneath were some grapes and blueberries. The combination was refreshing and delicious, It was a great palate cleanser. My Rating: 5 Stars. The biggest highlight of the Saturday brunch event was some live music played by Taylor G. She belted out some beautiful tunes with her voice, including Lean On Me, which lifted my spirits. The overall vibe of the brunch event was electrifying. My overall food rating comes out to 4.7 Stars. Their vibe and service both come out to 5-Plus stars. The good folks at Happy Cafe pour their heart and soul into their food and customer service, resulting in a strong 5-star overall rating in my book. Some of their other offerings are already calling my name for future visits. Among them are their Avocado Toast with Bacon, their Salmon Salad, their Bread Pudding, and one of their Strawberry Smoothies. Happy Cafe is, truly indeed, a happy place, and I am eagerly looking forward to going back.

Hands down, one of the best restaurants in the country. I love this place & the owners/staff are the best. The food is always amazing & the ambiance is perfect for meetings, family outings or pick up. Their smoothies are to live for as well. Check them out & you'll see why "Happy" Cafe is a jewel

Went to happy cafe this morning for brunch! I've tried to go a few times before, but they are always so busy and we never wanted to wait! Today we were able to get seated within 15 minutes arriving. I will say it took us a while for our actual waitress to get to us, but once she did, we were able to get our food and drinks very quickly! I had the pancake meal that came with 2 eggs and bacon. I added the fully loaded hashbrowns and also had the Dreamy coco. Everything was great ! I have no complaints. An older women, I am assuming possibly the owner, came to our table and introduced herself and made sure we were enjoying ourselves and didn't need anything. She informed me to overcome long waits to call in and make a reservation! This isn't a huge establishment, and they do get busy. My only suggestion is potentially more staff. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and told us she had been running around and busy since arriving. Definitely plan to visit again!

Customer service was amazing. Ambiance is very relaxing and the food is fresh and delicious.

From the moment we walked in, the clean atmosphere, the great smiles from employees and the smell from the kitchen, we knew we made a great choice for brunch.
