Yelp
I'm an avid customer of Happy Lamb of over 20 years, and I came to this location for the first time for a birthday. Because it looks fancy, and we do birthdays at Happy Lamb quite often. Though, I wouldn't recommend a birthday at this location because they're still new and figuring things out.
It was a risk having a big party given I wasn't familiar with the layout and there was minimal information I could get online, here on a Yelp, or on the phone. Here, you order on tablets. There's a 18 minute waiting period in between ordering rounds. They have big rooms separated by a flimsy sliding door. Each room caters to two parties so it's not even private. Each side can hold 7 people max and has 2 pots. I was told there's a small section in the back for individual pots, but they ended up not giving me that section even though I requested it, and I didn't get a look. Happy Lamb only ever gives 1-2 pots per party regardless of group size, and that has always been their worst trait, but that's how they work. Though, I would've preferred at least an actual private room.
Food quality: the seafood was reallly good. The meat was also satisfactory and on par with other locations. Sometimes they did take long, and I can see why many would assume the waiters forgot their order, but sometimes it does just take 30+ minutes.
Here's the worst part: no alcohol license, yet. The location has been opened for two months and no where on their menu or signs do they say they don't have alcohol. They don't even have milk tea for the premium menu. So, getting premium here was not worth it. The drinks were very important to us, but because the crab legs were so good, I'll let them go on this one. This is just a "soft opening" hiccup and I'm sure overtime it will get better.
Personally, I hate the tablet. It's a little hard to navigate, doesn't always have photos, and it takes up precious table space. In terms of service, I had a hard time getting the bill, which took about 40 minutes in itself. It's chaotic and busy, and despite all that, the staff did their best to stay courteous.
I would come back, once they get those drinks going. But for now I much rather prefer the Seattle location.
