Where to Eat Chinese Hot Pot in Greater Boston

"Happy Lamb — which has locations in Allston, Cambridge, and Chinatown — is best at a Northern-style, meat-heavy hot pot with clear broth and less heat. Don’t miss out on the cut beef and lamb, sliced so thinly that it only takes a few seconds to cook the meat to a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The restaurant group is also known for running a seasonal “all-you-can-meat” lunch special." - Valerie Li Stack

As new to this area we wanted to try a few places and we were really pleased with this one. The hospitality was amazing and the servers were friendly and knowledgeable. We got the half and half soup (spicy n original)which tasted amazing! May be too many peppers but overall it was great. Easy to order the meat and cook afterwards. Presentation was nice as well. 10/10 experience.

First time here ! The service is incredibly nice and professional! We had a hot pot and the portions of meat and seafood were pretty generous for 2 hungry people! I was shocked with the bill, for the amount of meat and whatever we ordered, in other places we would’ve payed twice as much! Very very happy with choosing this place! We are going home happy!

Happy Lamb is the best hot pot place in Boston! This new one in Allston did not disappoint. Great ambience, spacious and very clean feel. It does make a difference - enhances the experience. That said, the quality of a hot pot restaurant is definitely judged by the broth and freshness of the ingredients. We tried the sour cabbage broth + original half/half because we usually get the spicy one and this broth did NOT disappoint. The broth got tastier over time. There is an all-you-can eat meat special but that wasn't for us because we usually prefer having more vegetables. Tip: get the tong hu, meatballs, frozen tofu and Napa cabbage!

100% #1 for best hot pot in Boston. They had the freshest vegetables, meat platters our-lamb-was delicious lean and thinly sliced. They had 'modern' broth choices pretty amazing options! So worth 36 miles!

You will love this if you live hot pot. I got the half and half chicken broth with the spicy and the original broth. After all the toppings, it is slightly expensive but will work out if you go in huge groups.

Like they have on their wall, good soup doesn’t need extra sauce. The soup was amazing, tasted great. Staff was great, affordable price. Definitely will be back.

Best hot pot place in Boston that I’ve tried. I think they have some of the most reasonable prices too. The best of both worlds soup base is my go-to. Love the thick noodles and rice cakes. I’ve introduced some friends to hot pot here and they all LOVED it.

As usually Happy Lamb broth is delicious, This location is pretty small. The sauce bar is very tiny and needs to be expanded, they have the most popular sauce options but would like a bigger variety and better labeling. If you’re looking for AYCE, try another location. Service was very nice and attentive, they refilled the broth without asking and would come and check in pretty often
