"Happy Lemon, the Chinese boba company know for its salted cheese drinks and super-cute branding, will soon be headed to Richardson. The chain, which serves up bubble teas, ultra fruity smoothies and slushes, and bubble waffles, has announced at least four locations for the Lone Star State, including one at 169 North Plano Road in Richardson. The opening date for that store has not yet been announced, but the brand is teasing its Texas launch on Instagram and Facebook. The massive franchise was first founded in China in 2006 and now has more than 1500 locations worldwide, including in Taiwan, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and the United States, particularly the West Coast. The shop is known for its wide variety of ultra-fruity drinks in flavors like citrus, melon and berry. In addition to boba, Happy Lemon sells smoothies and fruity slushes in flavors like mango lemon, and cheese teas, which are finished with a thick cheesecake-like topping that can be either sweet or salted. They also offer bubble waffles in flavors like matcha and Oreo cookie. Other locations are slated for Houston, Austin and San Antonio. Stay tuned for an opening date for the Richardson cafe." - Brittanie Shey

Happy Lemon never disappoints! My go-to is the Jasmine Milk Tea with cheese foam — and I’m not gonna lie, the cheese foam here is hands down the BEST I’ve ever had. Creamy, slightly salty, and just the right balance with the floral tea. The waffle is also a must-try — it’s their signature for a reason! Even better when you dip it in the sweet cream that comes with it. Whether I’m stopping by for a quick treat or just craving something comforting, this place always hits the spot. Highly recommend!

My daughter loves Happy Lemon. She likes to order her Boba with lots of extra scoops of Boba and the staff always meet her standards lol

Google
I usually get the freshly squeezed honey lemon green tea. The drink is very good but I suggest to reduce the sugar level unless you want a very sweet drink. I also like the chocolate waffle and their service is very consistent overall.

Google
I've heard good things about this chain, and it looked so cute in pictures. I went with some friends, and here's my review on what we ordered: Chocolate w/ Salted Cheese - perhaps it's an acquired taste combo, but none of my friends and I liked it. I was imagining it would taste like a chocolate cheese cake, but something about it was just off. Okinawa Roasted Milk Tea - again, not the biggest fan of cheese foam, but the tea flavor was very robust. I would order it again but without the cheese foam. Dragon Fruit Lemon Slushy - LOVED this! Super refreshing on a hot day. Texture and flavor were both great. Bubble waffle - Also another hit, super delicious.

I just recently started frequenting happy lemon this location in particular; and I am more than satisfied with their customer service. My favorite manu item is their original bubble waffle with a side of cream puff dip. Sometimes, it can be baked a little to hard/crispy, but it never seizes to be deliciously tasty. This location has my stamp of approval. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Google
Came here on the recommendation from one of my best friends who loves their waffles. today I got the honey green tea and one of their famous waffles. I was afraid that it would be too crispy for my liking but it was soft and fresh. It was just perfect. Service was great. The guy was very patient and I will be back to try more stuff on their menu.

After dinner, the kids wanted boba tea, so someone suggested Happy Lemon. My wife got the Classic Boba Milk Tea with 25% sweetness. We also got the Original Bubble Waffle and the Oreo Bubble Waffle. They made our drinks quickly but took a very long time to make the bubble waffles. I heard it is because they only have one bubble waffle grill. My wife really likes the Classic Boba Milk Tea. She said she could really taste the tea flavor and it was good tea. I liked the sweetness level and found it was above average. The Bubble Waffles were OK. The Oreo one didn't have the familiar oreo taste. My kids loved them both, so that's all that matters.

Google
Kind of a dying store, when I went it was a deserted parking lot... Hopefully more people visit! Went inside, cashier was friendly and accommodating, price wasn't insane but still a bit on the expensive side. I got a fresh squeezed lemon black tea with boba. Boba is extra, and not very good. The day I went it was overcooked with a mushy feel instead of the chewy consistency of fresh boba. Additionally they do not add any sugar inside so it has no inate taste. The tea was excellent, but had a slight bitterness from the lemon peel. Decor was the most chill and funny of any boba shop, check out the buff Squirtle and Charmander on the counter.

Yelp
Happy Lemon never disappoints! This place is amazing and their service was very quick. It is hidden at a corner of a plaza so it was hard to find at first. There was a lot of seating and we sat outside. Happy Lemon is one of my favorite boba places since they aren't super sweet and they offer bubble waffles.

Yelp
Love stopping by this neighborhood milk tea and egg waffle shop. They make great drinks and the atmosphere is light and airy. I specially enjoy the cheese foam drinks because the layer of cheese foam on top gives it a slightly salty flavor, adding to the overall flavor, making it interesting and more complicated. The egg waffles make a great snack and they are hot, chewy, and fluffy with a slight crisp. Have never had any issues with getting a drink and they are timely and nice.

Yelp
Classic Milk Tea with Boba, Ube Taro Milk Tea with Boba, Bubble Waffle Oof this was a hard no. I remember this place being better when I first tried it in cali, but this visit was so sad. The Boba was good, but the Milk teas just tasted so incredibly off somehow. Both my friend and I failed to finish our drinks, which is a never event for us. The bubble waffle was yummy as usual! Very friendly servers and cute clean interior

Tony T.

Yelp
We bought 4 drinks today. But we had a nasty experience from the asian gentlemen with black hair. He wouldn't sell us strawberry popping Boba on the side for my kid. He said she has to buy a whole drink or he won't sell it to us. He said the drinks are for adults and to buy whole drinks and not just toppings. But we can add toppings to a drink and strain it out on our own off premises he said. Super rude and not friendly. The female staff came up and was apologetic.

Liz G.

Yelp
Loved this; bright and airy little boba shop in East Richardson. Staff was helpful as this was our first visit and weren't sure what beverages we wanted. We ended up with a lemon slush and a jasmine milk tea. We shard their chocolate bubble waffle with what they called a puff cream... which was a rich, delicious whipped cream.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Ordered the Ube Milk Tea with taro puff cream and taro balls, a Mango Yakult Smoothie and a Matcha Bubble Waffle with puff cream. Both drinks tasted so good, but I definitely enjoyed the mango drink more. With that said, it was insanely sweet! The matcha bubble waffle wasn't sweet at all, but it was so delicious! Loved the texture and how warm it was. It's a nice spot to hangout and the customer service was great!

Luz C.

Yelp
Omg I absolutely loved Happy Lemon!!! I came here to grab a quick boba tea and do some work. The boba tea was so fresh and delicious and the passion fruit seeds were a good touch. I loved every bit of my experience. It's a great spot to work remotely from. The decor inside is so cute and lemon-themed, I loved it!!! The service was pretty fast considering I was the only person in the shop at the time. The only complaint I had was that I asked for 50% sugar though and it tasted like 100%. I didn't want to be a bother and request them to remake. For the price, the size of the boba was definitely worth it. I'll definitely be coming back!

Anne P.

Yelp
Nice friendly staff. I loved their iced green tea with cheese foam as is (regular ice and sweetness). The drink was delicious and perfectly balanced. Not too sweet not too bitter!

Jamie T.

Yelp
Great place to just meet up with friends or study or go on a date after church! Boba and shakes are great as well! Service is super fast, not much to say because they were wonderful

Shelley F.

Yelp
this is my second time coming here! I tried the mango lemon slushy this time. It was a little too sweet for my liking (probably would get 75% next time), and I wish the mango flavor was more present. I also ordered the bubble waffle again with taro cream. It was absolutely delightful!

Yelp
We fell in love with Happy Lemon 6 years ago back in California and we were introduced for the first time to cheese topping on your boba drink. Ever since we would always compare our boba drinks with happy lemon. So hearing that they finally opened up their first location in Texas near our house. We were very excited. This location is located in Richardson. Chinatown is just about 5 min away. So after dinner or shopping if you crave boba this would be a perfect stop to make. Once you enter the store you'll notice their bright color interior. Everything is in a tasteful yellow and white. Plenty of seatings to accommodate small and large groups. The menu is simple and easy. Also for those who don't like milk tea, they also offer shakes and lemonade! Their lemonade is pretty awesome too! Sweet, tangy and refreshing! We all enjoyed our drinks after dinner! We will be back!

L N.

Yelp
After having pho nearby, I decided to stop here for a drink. The place was empty when I arrived, but the staff was friendly and quick. My drink was ready in no time. There's plenty of seating, and the store was very clean. I would definitely come back.

Susan N.

Yelp
I was so happy when I heard Happy Lemon was opening in my neighborhood. I've heard such good things and was so excited to finally try them for myself. Within the first week of opening I went twice to try their dragonfruit lychee juice with salted cheese and the ube milk tea with taro puff cream. The ube milk tea was my favorite drink for awhile until I tried their blended whole fresh lemon honey green tea! It was so refreshing and perfect when you want a lighter drink to sip on. I get the hype and why it's called Happy Lemon now haha. Recently visited again to try their newly released ube smoothie and although not as delicious as their ube milk tea it was still very good and I would recommend getting it on a hot day when you want a sweeter drink.

Joy M.

Yelp
Nice sized boba joint that's open and inviting with cute decor and friendly staff. You would not notice it if you are on belt line. It would appear hidden, unless you are going south on Plano Road. I really like that there are many options for toppings. I had their passion fruit and mango tea with taro ball. Their taro ball has a Mochi texture and I could taste real taro in it. I enjoyed my drink and thought it was quite refreshing. You can taste the passion fruit, the mango and the tea, so flavors weren't mild. Son liked his lemon slushy with mango boba but daughter did not like her lemon and mango slushy. She thought it was too sweet.

Lucy M.

Yelp
Stopped by Happy Lemon twice during the past week, both times in the afternoon on a weekday since I heard the lines are still crazy over the weekends, and it was pretty painless to order and there was plenty of seating space! The first time I tried three of the recommended items on the menu: the fresh lemon honey green tea, the fresh squeezed lemon black tea, and the lemon yakult with aloe, all at 75% sweetness with no ice. All of them were excellent, especially the teas, and the lemon flavor was super pronounced in all of them. Very refreshing! My second time visiting I tried the grapefruit yakult with aloe, which is usually my go-to drink whenever it's on the menu, and I loved it a lot! Fresh grapefruit chunks always an added plus and probably makes this my new favorite location to get grapefruit yakult. I got it 75% sweet with no ice as well, but I'm thinking this place is somewhere I can get 50% sweet and feel like it's a perfect sweetness without compromising flavor, so I'll probably be going with that moving forward :) Definitely interested in trying some of their milk teas and blended drinks as well as the rest of their recommended bestsellers, and I'm looking forward to when they start selling bubble waffles; this location currently doesn't have them in stock yet, but they should be in soon.

Nicole P.

Yelp
Always been a huge fan of happy lemon after trying it in california and was so ecstatic to here that locations were opening in the DFW area!!! Drove 40+ minutes to the richardson location twice once they finally opened and did not disappoint. Happy lemon is a bit pricey to me but so worth! I love to get the boba pearls and taro balls in my milk tea drinks. Their fruit tea drinks are great as well. I always like to lower my sweetness because 100% is a bit too much for me. Hurst location and Fort Worth location is coming soon!

Tony D.

Yelp
Prices around $5-$6 for all the different drinks. The G5, forgot the actual name, I think its lemon honey green tea, at 50% sweetness is a very nice and refreshing drink! Nice and bitter and good sweet balance. I bet if you are craving more of a carnival type drink level of sweetness, 100% if you going all out. Strawberry green tea was too sweet even with half sugar I'd call it 150% sweetness maybe it was just a fluke, I took it home and diluted it with more ice and its not saving it. Boba is on the al dente side and not sweet enough. My friend did not enjoy the oreo milk tea but liked the ube/taro type drink. 100% try out their specialty lemon drinks those are amazing but the others, hopefully if you try it out it gets hammered out.

Elaine M.

Yelp
The quintessential bubble waffle can be found right here! I was so excited to find red bean flavor bubble waffle. Red bean is actually in the batter so you find little bits when you eat the bubble waffle. It was delicious and was warm off the iron. You can get a dipping sauce too!

Martha N.

Yelp
Omg I can't believe I've never been here before!! The inside is so cute and the workers are so nice. Boba milk tea was delicious, a little on the sweet side so get less sugar if you prefer less sweet milk teas. Definitely give this place try if you're nearby. Will be back to try other drinks for sure!! :3

Lindsay S.

Yelp
This is a really cute place. We came in a Saturday around 2:00 when it was relatively quiet. There were quite a few people coming in just to get some milk tea. Give. The name, I wanted to try a lemon drink so I went with the lemon honey green tea. The lemon was pretty strong- but that's the name of the place :) oddly enough, I didn't see any lemonade on the menu. The bubble waffles come in original or you can get them flavored. They also have dipping sauces. They weren't hot, barely warm...when we got them and they took a long time to get, so I think they only have a couple of bubble waffle makers back there. I was finished with mine before my sister ever got hers, so order together if you want to eat together. Overall, cute place

M K.

Yelp
I don't have to miss the street waffle in Hing Kong anymore! Aromatic, light and fluffy waffle with a slight crunch on the outside - cannot stop eating it. Forget about sharing the waffle, Lee it to yourself! Can't go wrong with the drinks regardless which flavor you get. Great afternoon snack place !

Stacy W.

Yelp
My favorite drink is the mango matcha! Super yummy and the matcha flavor is decently strong. I ordered ube milk tea with taro balls and this was surprisingly good! Wasn't sure what to expect when I tried this but I love it

Monalisa Z.

Yelp
Went in , ordered 2 drinks and had an interesting conversation with the cashier. Me: Bubble waffle Her: sorry it's not available Me : Why don't you have it? Her: it's too much work. Me: flabbergasted. Wasn't expecting this response. Me: what do you mean by that ? Her: mumbling then "I'm not sure. That's what they decided" There Were 2-3 other girls behind her making drinks. To say the least, I was disappointed. There I was, making the trip to come just because I heard they had the best bubble waffle in DFW. Guess they don't. Drinks Dragonfruit lychee drink, added boba 4/5 Asked 50% sugar and it's pretty sweet. Boba was good texture, chewy not undercooked, not over cooked. Ube drink with Taro balls 2/5 It's flat. It lacks characters. It lacks flavor (its only flavor was sweet). It doesn't leave good impression. It doesn't have the "ooomph". It's lackluster. It's not impressive. There. Enough drink heckling and drink assailing. It's not something I'm gonna order again for $6 Will I come back ? Perhaps , depends on that elusive bubble waffle

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Finally a piece of California is here in Texas! My all time favorite drink place!! The salted cheese is sooooooo good and is the perfect compliment to my tea - a little bit of sweet and a blend of salty at the perfect 45 degree angle sip. My favorites are the black tea, green tea and milk tea - all with salted cheese of course!!

Kenya R.

Yelp
I got the strawberry green tea and a boba egg waffle. The waffle was ok, but the tea wasn't good at all. It was sooooo bitter. I was so disappointed. I should have stuck to my original plan which was to go to my tried and true Gong Cha. We'll, at least I tried something new.

Samantha M.

Yelp
I got the Milk Tea Oreo with Tiramisu Salted Cheese & boba and it was sooo yummy! It was a heavenly blend of salty sweet goodness! And on top of the yummy drinks, My friends and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. It's a great spot to hangout and chill! Will definitely be coming back for more!

Deja V.

Yelp
Great spot for meeting up with friends for a nice cool drink and their delicious waffle (it's a must) . Nice sofa chau it's to sit back and relax . One of the best place for drinks.

Zoe L.

Yelp
Happy Lemon is my favorite BOBA TEA brand when I was in Shanghai! I am SO excited to try them after a long time!! I ordered the boba milk tea with the puff cream. The favor is so good!! I love their boba so much. Really chewy and tasty. The employees are professional, and they make drink fast. They also have a TV in the waiting area that you can check your order number. That's good and convenient for the customers! Definitely will ALWAYS come back! LOVE LOVE LOVE~

Lauren W.

Yelp
I am so happy there's a Happy Lemon in Richardson! I've had 2 drinks at this location and I highly recommend both of them-they are fresh squeezed lemon black tea and fresh squeezed lemon honey green tea. It's in the name, lemon, so I had to get something with fresh lemons. It might be kind of sour for some people but I think it's perfect at the regular sugar level. Another drink that I really like and have gotten it in California is the milk tea with salted cheese. Just these drinks alone will have me come back here again and again. I would want to try the bubble waffles next time since my friend came here just for that. If I was to pick another drink, I would go with the ones that has the best seller lemon head next to it! That's how I picked my first drinks. The interior is small but feels clean and modern. There is parking at this location since it's in a plaza.

Rita Y.

Yelp
I've noticed a problem where certain food establishments that have locations in multiple states, all taste better when it's not the Texas location. I first tried Happy Lemon in California and I really liked their Lemon Yakult drink. But this one here is way too tart and not nice to drink. I don't know what it is. Maybe the water is not as good? So I've switched to Mango Yakult Smoothie which is better.

Nguyễn Q.

Yelp
The boba and drinks were super good!! I have tried other locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, this one also lives up to the standard. The boba is chewy and fresh, the milk tea smells good and the tea really stand out. I got an Okinawa Milk Tea Roasted w Boba 50% sugar. This drink is perfect for me. My friends also enjoy their drinks a lot! There was only 1 guy working there but the drink came out fast.

Sue K.

Yelp
There is plenty of parking by the boba shop. Staff wore masks and there is limited indoor seating area. A good selection of milk teas, fruit teas and other speciality drinks. Okinawa Fresh Milk with boba: not too sweet and the boba was nice and chewy. Matcha Latte with tiramisu salted cheese: I usually like matcha, but this one was meh for me. Maybe the two tasted doesn't mix well for me? Unfortunately did not finish my drink. Would recommend if you are in the area!

Rafaela D.

Yelp
We finally have a Happy Lemon! This is a popular chain around Asia for their unique options, and I've really missed it. If y'all know me, I always say that if their basic milk tea is delicious (the right ratio of milk:tea) and the boba is the right consistency, then everything else will be just up to par! I ordered their popular milk tea with cream around the cup, and it was really delightful! The cream added extra sweetness to the already-sweet milk tea, so if that's not for you, I suggest getting a lower sweetness level. The boba itself was just the right chewiness and actually has a hint of sweetness! That's how you make boba Definitely stop by at least once. The interior is trendy, and there are lots of large tables for geoup hang outs or study dates! Really perfect for the nearby college community.

S L.

Yelp
Husband and I got two different drinks from here. Husband loved his drink, I did not. Mine had a surprise piece of hard plastic in it as well. Didn't appreciate that. Store was super cute and seems popular. 3 stars for ambiance and husband's drink, 2 stars off for plastic in drink.

Stacy Y.

Yelp
I couldn't even tell you how many years I've been waiting for a Happy Lemon to open in Dallas--maybe 5??? Thus, I was REALLY excited to hear that this place would be opening and even more excited that it would be in the neighborhood where my parents live! The interior is really cute, bright, and yellow with various areas to sit. There are tables and couches available depending on your mood. I usually order the C4 (honey lemon green tea) with boba and absolutely love the way it tastes. It's really tart but with the perfect amount of sweetness, and it tastes like fresh lemon. As a plus, the employees are generally pretty quick with getting drinks out too! This has definitely made it into my regular rotation of boba places!

Vanh D.

Yelp
Interesting selection of drinks so I haven't found the drink I like yet. My boyfriend really likes S1 Fresh Passion fruit Mango Green Tea. I had the Ube Milk Tea/ Taro puff cream & Taro Balls. It was okay but I wouldn't get it again. I really like the theme inside the shop. They also have a rewards card if you ask for one! It was hard hearing the person taking orders since it was really loud in there.I think they're short on staff too so some of their tables weren't able to be cleaned but other than that I think the experience was pretty decent.

Sophia L.

Yelp
Really nice and big boba shop . Lots of cute decoration . Nice place to study , hang out or grab a quick drink.

Jenny T.

Yelp
Oops I did it again! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this delicious Green tea with cheese foam! I forgot to take a picture! Lol but here it is Half full! 40 mins away and most of the time I buy 3-4 drinks to past my husband and I through the next couple days without having to drive to get boba. BY FAR THE BEST CHEESE FOAM! I have been to every boba place in Cali and Dallas and I always crave this cheese foam. My next favorite drink is dragon fruit lychee with cheese foam. Then grapefruit green tea! I love that you get fresh fruit in all of the fruit teas! All I know is if I am upset my husband knows this place will make me Happy!

Lanie N.

Yelp
I wouldn't say Happy Lemon is my favorite place to drink boba. But they have the bunker waffles so that's a plus. I went here for the first time to try it... I keep hearing the drinks are tart. I love lemon so here we go. I got a kumquat tea and oolong tea w cheese foam. My Sil got someThing and she liked her drink. I though the tea was good, the foam is very rich and tasty. The bubble waffles were nice and hot. I didn't have to wait long for my items. This place is located in a dead shopping center at the end. Definitely would come back and try others flavors. The staff could be a little more energetic for a place called Happy

Helenna L.

Yelp
Nice place, quick service, staff is friendly and can give customers recommend whenever they saw them lost in the menu .... The drink is Fantastic.. Definitely recommend !

Connor S.

Yelp
Great drinks and amazing waffles! I've been going to happy lemon for forever and I love their drinks. Great employees and service.

Jackie T.

Yelp
I went here shortly after their opening. The store is found on a corner of a local shopping mall. The place is nice and vibrant on the inside. It has a great productive atmosphere and is very spacious. This is definitely a place that I will look forward to returning to. Food: I didn't get anything food-wise but I did order one of their drinks. It was called "Mango Lemon Slushy." It was a great refreshing drink that really does hit the spot after a long day or if it's hot out. It came with little bits of mango as well so those were fun to eat while enjoying this drink. Service: The service is nice and friendly, there was a small problem with the transaction involving my card but the manager handled the situation perfectly and as to how I would have expected the situation to be handled. Price: This place is on the pricer side in regards to drinks. My drink ended up being around 6.50, however considering their location and the quality of the ingredients that are used, the price is quite reasonable.

Yelp
*Rant warning * We came in last Sunday to grab some drinks before driving back to Houston. We ordered some tea with salted cheese foam and asked if they can pack it separately so it won't mix during our trip back. The cashier said they do that all the time. A staff (apparently the manager based on uniform) from the drink station YELLED at us from behind the cashier's back about they don't pack the drink separately. Then pretended he was busy. Packing it separately is the exact same as the cheese foam cups they probably prepacked and upsell for $1 each anyways. Just pour the tea in the cup and include one of the cheese foam Drinks tasted off, different from other locations we've been to. They're newly opened so it's understandable to make mistakes here and there. Hopefully they'll improve (calibrate the recipe, change in management )

Karen T.

Yelp
This is a cute little place! The place is so bright and the decor just gives you the happy vibe. I ordered the kumquat lemon jasmine green tea w/less sugar. I always ask for less sugar in those kind of drinks because I don't like it too sweet. This drink was a tad bit too tart which I should've kept the regular percent of sugar and ask for extra ice if I've known. It was a 7/10 for me. I also ordered the original bubble waffle w/a side of cheese dipping sauce. It sounds weird w/cheese but it's not your typical cheese dip. It had a slight salty and sweet flavor. Very light and didn't overpower the waffle! Waffle was 100% good by itself but the cheese dip made it extra better! There were other flavors for dipping sauce you can choose from but it's extra cost if you want it. I'll def come back next time to try other drinks when in town.

Tim C.

Yelp
Came during rush hour around 4 and got a milk foam green tea with a matcha waffle, the service was quick and helpful with only around a 5 minute wait time, the atmosphere was pretty comfortable with lots if decoration and in all a nice place.

Logan K.

Yelp
I got the lemon slush with tapioca boba and the slushy itself tasted rotten or weird/off . The boba is reallly good though!!

Melody H.

Yelp
So had to try out Happy Lemon! I'll be honest the Ube with taro puff cream isn't my favorite BUT I find it bitter and not sweet enough for my sugar addicted self. The taro bobas are okay, I just really wanted to try it and the texture isn't my fav BUT! The milk tea my sister got is SOOOO AMAZING definitely a fav, about to go buy one for myself. But the bubble waffle???? LORD. It's SOOOO AMAZINGLY GOOD. Taro dipping sauce???? YES PLEASE. It was amazing. Even if don't like boba tea, it's worth it to come here JUST for the bubble waffle. I want to eat another one but I should eat less sugary food now. And finally. No one has posted a menu for the bubble waffles and I wasn't sure what dipping sauces they have so you're welcome!

Emily N.

Yelp
Happy lemon does such a great job at elevating regular smegular lemonade into delicious drinks that hit the spot!! I am really excited to come back to try other drinks so stay tuned!
