"Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten will open his first restaurant in Connecticut this spring through a partnership with Aurify Brands, the company behind Le Pain Quotidien, Little Beet, Melt Shop, and other chains. The Greenwich restaurant, called Happy Monkey, will infuse “Latin cuisine with a Jean-Georges flair,” according to a spokesperson for the chef." - Luke Fortney

"Carrie meets Big’s brother Richard at this Jean-Gorges restaurant off the West Side Highway in Greenwich village. Over this four-dollar-sign lunch, Richard asks what’s going on with Big’s ashes and suggests Carrie inters them at the family crypt in Connecticut where one day, if she’s interested, there’d be room for her to join him." - Madeleine Davies

Pricey modern Mexican restaurant, food and drinks were delicious but on the smaller side, quality and flavor were great. Service was prompt and courteous, we were seated at a nice table and the vibe was cool and relaxed. I would definitely be back.

Three Times a Charm at Happy Monkey! This was my third visit to Happy Monkey, and once again, it did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with vibrant energy, warm service, and a lively atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. The food continues to impress—creative, flavorful, and consistently well-executed. Whether you’re trying something new or sticking with a favorite, every dish feels thoughtfully prepared. Cocktails are just as stellar, perfectly complementing the bold menu. Special thanks to our waiters Brian and Christian, who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming—they truly added to the charm of the night. It’s rare to find a spot that delivers every single time, but Happy Monkey truly lives up to the hype. Three visits in, and I’m already looking forward to the fourth!

Love the atmosphere it was really quaint. And Christian was a great server. I even forgot the choros when I left and he ran after me to give me my plate to go. The ambiance is comfortable and casual. I had the fried fish taco. It was good but the cabbage on top was kind of tart but the espresso martini was good! Really like this place.

We came here for an early dinner in late summer. The chef's special of chicken and taco starters were excellent as was the arroz pollo and fried calamari. The ambiance of a Latin restaurant (Cuban sandwich looked interesting for lunch... unfortunately not for dinner) is interesting and hopefully will continue its successful run so far. The restaurant was fairly empty in the early evening but appeared to be filling up as we left. Consider coming here the food and waitstaff are great... you won't be disappointed!

Excellent service and attention to detail. I sat at the bar and ordered 2 cocktails and appetizers. The garlic shrimp and octopus were delicious! The pomegranate tequila and mezcal margarita was well-balanced.

Generally it was a disappointment. Nice environment and decoration. Really average food, on taste, quality and presentation. Smaller than French cuisine portion at French cuisine price. Hard to believe this was in a Mexican restaurant. Service was super slow. We asked for paper napkins for the table and got one sheet of kitchen paper towel. It was unbelievable.

I was jonesing for a delicious grilled fish taco and thrilled to learn that Happy Monkey was highly rated on the Find Me Gluten Free app. The menu was small but gave no clue that they offered gluten free. When I asked the server, though, she said they could do anything on the menu gluten free. She explained the fish taco would be grilled separately so that’s what I ordered. It was not traditional, not what I expected, but was still quite tasty. With the blue corn shell, vinegar, spice, and mint, it reminded me more of an Asian taco. Good but not what I was looking for. Plus, at $22 for 2 tacos, there was not even a garnish to make it feel a good value. The decor was fun. The host was friendly. The service was abrupt but efficient.
