"A casual café for modern renditions of traditional Filipino food, Harana opened in October 2023. Chef/owner Chris Lopez, who worked at Portland’s Urban Farmer at the Nines Hotel, opened it with his mother, Teresita. “Working together was a pipe dream of ours, and when this opportunity came, we just dove into it. We wanted to share the beauty and complexity of Filipino cuisine, which is sparse in our neck of the woods.”" - Sharon McDonnell

"Right on Lithia Way, Harana Cafe is the only restaurant of its kind in Ashland: A modern Filipino spot with a tight selection of natural wines and cocktails. Start with the green mango salad and crisp lumpia, stuffed with pork and water chestnuts, before moving onto a garlic confit-bolstered chicken adobo or butternut squash stew. The Harana for Two, a combination meal with adobo and lumpia, is a smart move for couples on a mid-week date." - Susanne Robertson, Eater Staff

Adorable Filipino cafe with fresh, authentic dishes! Save room for dessert, especially their homemade ice cream. We tried the lumpia (fried rolls with meat and veggies), pancit miki (saucy, thick noodles with shrimp, scallops, celery, snow peas, cabbage, and carrots), a special fried pork belly, jasmine rice on the side, calamansi iced tea, ube ice cream and cheese ice cream. Both ice creams were topped with homemade sweetened corn flakes. All of the food was delicious. We know the location in downtown Ashland is probably super expensive so the dishes are all a bit pricey for what you get - for example, the pancit miki had two small shrimp and four tiny scallops. I wish the ube ice cream didn't turn my mouth purple 🤣 The cafe itself is beautiful and the staff are all sweet, friendly and helpful. The owner herself visited all guests as well.

I was so happy that I was able to find a filipino restaurant in Ashland. I ordered their Barbeque and their Sisig sobrang sarap (Super Yummy) It’s like, it’s gonna be my comfort food all the time. I was so glad I found this restaurant. Ms. Teresita which I guess the owner was very nice to me and humble, the place is great and feels like home (Philippines) If you wanna try filipino cuisine, go and check their menus. Will surely go back and let my american husband try it with me. I was not able to take a good picture of their food because I was so excited to dig in! haha

Google
I was so impressed with this Filipino restaurant. All of the food was delicious, approachable, had depth, and an attention to details. Delicious pickled veggies on the side? Done in house. Not just crisp and tasty lumpia but a tangy lumpia sauce that pops in your mouth? Done in house. Oh, even the Frosted Flakes on the ice cream seem to have superior texture and flavor? Why those are candied in house too. Even if the food wasn’t as good as it was I would support this sweet mother son duo who gave us the best service. Visit Harana!

The team here is incredibly warm and inviting, creating an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The space is super clean, and the upbeat vibe makes it a perfect spot for any occasion. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely meal, Harana Cafe never disappoints. Highly recommend!

You walk into this cozy, unassuming cafe where you order standing up at the register and ten or so minutes later they bring you out like fine-dining-level Filipino cuisine - beautifully conceived and perfectly executed. The surprise is so delightful, the pairing of the unpretentious setting and modest prices with absolutely expert and refined cooking. And natty wines and good cocktails too. What's not to love?

We had an incredible experience at Harana! The meal made me feel like I was sitting in their kitchen enjoying a comfort food meal with my family. Their menu is small making it easy to choose but I'll tell you this you can't go wrong with anything. We tried almost everything on the menu and while we enjoyed every bite my favorite dishes were the Pork Belly and the Beef Mami that was almost like a beef noodle stew. Their Lumpia was exceptional as well. They do serve cocktails which my friends enjoyed but I really enjoyed their non alcohol Calamansi Lemonade. I can't wait to take back my family because I know they will be craving it as much as I do.

Google
This is the best meal I've had this year. Hooooooly moley, Harana Cafe!! If you go, please do yourself a favor and try the Milk Tea drink (pictured next to my Calamansi Lemonade). The Milk Tea has a flavor that is hard to describe and crazy to experience. It's whiskey/milk tea/pandan/grapefruit/lemon; and it's a drink so nice we tried it twice. 😉 We also loved the Beef Mami - chewy noodles, perfectly tender beef, and the hardest part of the meal to share because we both wanted all of it. Lumpia was fabulous, and we tried the Sisig Pork Belly and Cheese Ice Cream, too. All delicious, but the Milk Tea and Beef Mami were the shining stars of the show. I can't wait to go back!!

My wife and I had a getaway weekend in Ashland to celebrate our anniversary. After a great show at the Shakespeare Festival, we had the most delightful meal at Harana Cafe. Great food. Very approachable. The owners were so kind and appreciative. We had a nice visit at table-side and discussed the origin of the recipes, amongst other things. Highly recommend…if we are back in Ashland, we will be back to Harana!

Yelp
Watch out, high-end Filipino places like Magna Kusina. You're being lapped by a hole-in-the-wall in Southern Oregon. We went back tonight to repeat check our last visit, and all was at least as good. We had again the lumpia--fresh, clearly hand-made--pork belly appetizer (tokwa't baboy), and beef with noodles (beef mami). We added the pork belly main (sisig pork belly) to round it out. All were excellent, and we sense very authentic. Old Fashioneds are top-notch. Milk tea was excellent, a little more citrus than I like. The Beef Mami paired with an Old Fashioned is the way to go if you can't decide. Service was charming. The owner is a peach, and seriously into making sure everyone is happy. If you can be in Ashland when they are open, definitely stop by.

Yelp
3.5 stars Coming from the Bay Area and familiar with Filipino food out in Daly City, my standards are a bit high. I will say they use good ingredients and their dishes are not as greasy as traditional Filipino foods I've had. We got the Harana for two, which had chicken adobo, lumpia, atchara (pickled veggies), jasmine rice and an order of the sisig pork belly. I was a bit disappointed with the sisig because the pork was dry. It could be their style, but it could have been way better if the meat wasn't so dehydrated. The flavor and egg was good though. Chicken adobo was better, the mushrooms they used was very good and soaked the flavor well. One of the chicken pieces was slightly over done and a tad dry, but the other was fall off the bone. Lumpia was good, pretty standard. Their Atchara was quite tiny and wish they offered more as it went very well with their dishes.

Yelp
Well buckle up because my bestie and I went here two times within 24 hours. The food was UNREAL! My understanding of desserts have been completely redefined. The halo halo and Buko Pandan are now my favorite treats to have. The level of comfort and intentionality in every dish was perfect. Highly recommend getting the lumpia and sisig together. The textures and flavors complement eachother perfect. I was shocked at the elegance of the milk tea cocktail. Teresita is the delightfully hospitible owner who constantly was walking around and checking on everyone to ensure they were getting everything they needed. The colors and minimalist decor left a perfect canvas for exceptional flavors to be had.

Nicole L.

Yelp
Back for more! My new favorite dish is the beef mami! Oozing with flavors and i can't get enough! The deconstructed kare kare was quite flavorful with crunchy vegetables! We also ordered the chicken skewers and the lumpia! Everything was amazing. I also enjoyed the milk tea which has pandan flavor. Next time would love to try more of the natural wines!

Yelp
Masarap talaga! That means it's really delicious. We love to stop in Ashland for meals when we drive to/from CA from Eugene and came across this gem. Filipino food in Ashland?! Yup. And it's really good. Food is obvs masarap (again, delicious), and Teresita, the owner and counter service/waitstaff is super friendly. Expect casual cafe style where the food is the highlight. The menu seems to rotate and Specials really are special...meaning it's there once in a while so don't miss out. I missed out on lechon....roast pork which only is around during really special occasions like weddings, milestone birthdays, etc on our way to CA, but had the savory chicken adobo with aromatic jasmine rice, side of archaea, and lumpia. We had halo-halo for dessert. These are basics. One must get the basics well. Did we go back? Heck yes. On your way back I savored the beef mami and my husband loved the BBQ pork. And we ordered the special of the day, which was a dessert: cassava. Harana Cafe made me feel I've had a quick visit to the Philippines. Well done.

Yelp
This family-run Filipino restaurant in the heart of Ashland, Oregon, is a true culinary gem. With its authentic flavors and welcoming hospitality, it's a standout in the local dining scene. The pork barbecue is a definite highlight, boasting irresistible savory flavors that will leave you wanting more. Their unique take on pork and tofu sisig is a delightful surprise, sure to please even the most discerning palate. Combined with excellent customer service, this restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying delicious Filipino cuisine with loved ones.

Cheryl B.

Yelp
We were greeted by Chris, who is really friendly and helpful. Got an order of the lumpia....excellent. My husband chose the beef Mami, loved it. I got the chicken adobo and it was great also. Midway through the meal, a nice woman (which might have been the owner) checked on us. We were tempted by the desert, but were full. This is a casual place. Go and you will eat well.

Maria S.

Yelp
You guys! This place is delicious! We ordered the lumpia, pork belly sisig, beef mami and for dessert halo halo with ube ice cream and ube and cheese ice cream. I wish I would taken pictures of the food but it looked so good I forgot about my phone, but, luckily I took pictures of my pretty desserts. Highly recommend it.

Sanae G.

Yelp
I loved the food and will return BUT the fast food ambience (order at the counter, take a number to your table, bright lighting, etc.) was at odds with the pricing (dinner for two, no beverages was $75). Menu is limited but there's something for everyone and quite delicious.

S G.

Yelp
This place has the sweetest family run small restaurant vibe that I loved. The weakest part of the experience was the slow service although every dish when it got delivered was done with a smile. We finished each dish before the next one came out, with the appetizer coming in the middle. Good thing we were sharing. I was excited to try some filipino dishes beyond my standard experience with Lumpia and Adobo so it was exciting to try the Pork Belly Sisig and the Kare Kare. The 63 degree egg in the Sisig was divine with a gorgeous silken texture to the yolk. And I'm always a fan of crispy pork belly although I could have used a little spicy sauce for dipping. The beef shank is not one of my fave cuts but the presentation was nice and the peanut sauce on top delicious. The ubod crepe tasted fresh and I especially enjoyed the crisp texture of the jicama.

Vanessa B.

Yelp
I wish I could give 6 out of 5 star reviews. Also, I wish I had photos. The food was so incredible both in taste and presentation that our group was absorbed in it all and forgot to document! Oh, darn, I guess we will have to go back asap. Harana is the perfect combination of classic, family recipes with a modern, elevated twist. The ambiance is familial and friendly and the service is warm and welcoming. My family ordered one of everything. It was hard to pick a favorite. Adobo, Pork Belly Sisig, and Kare Kare were stand outs. The lumpia was delicious. Try it all!

Olivia S.

Yelp
Cannot say enough amazing things about Harana. From the intimate restaurant to the breathtaking food this is my new favorite spot in Ashland. Came here in October and loved it so much I had to come back again! Personal favorites are the lemonade, pandan, bbq pork, and pork belly. The staff is so friendly and lovely. Come to this spot before the line is out the door!

Rhonda K.

Yelp
Such a great little place to go have an early dinner prior to seeing a play. We had the lumpia, green mango salad, and the barbecued pork. They were all delicious great balance of flavor. The owner is so welcoming and friendly and made sure to ask us our names of all the drinks were fun. I definitely will have the whiskey milk tea again when I return.

Rob P.

Yelp
Great authentic Filipino food. Family owned, three generations working together. Ashland needed more ethinc restaurants and Harama fits the bill. Nice drink selection which includes cocktails, beer & wine. We had lumpia, arroz caldo, B Q pork, chicken adobo, pancit, and green mango salad.

Marcus K.

Yelp
Very happy to have this little gem in Ashland. Pork bbq is amazing, lumpia is a must, and the mango salad is super refreshing. I can't wait to go back and try every item on the menu. Owner and staff is very cool and laid back which makes the vibe of this place special. Ambiance is very nice and makes it perfect for a little date spot. Was surprised to see Blind Pig here for beer. If you come visit this place is a must! If you live here.. not sure what you are waiting for if you haven't tried it yet!

S J.

Yelp
Harana has just opened and it is an absolute gem. Welcome to Ashland! Walk in and order at the counter, you can see and smell the dishes as they come up from the kitchen to the left. Counter service was helpful in choosing and making selections. Patience and kindness! We started with the lumpia- a pyramid of six hot perfectly seasoned appetizers. Gone in a flash. My husband had the pork belly that was juicy and crisp and the poached egg was cooked as if by magic. Gooey deliciousness. The barbecue pork was excellent with strings of saffron. The rice for both our dishes were fluffy and the perfect amount of sticky. Next time we'll save room for what looked like beautiful dessert! What a amazing addition to Ashlands food scene

Ariel B.

Yelp
I was really happy with the food-- we ordered Harana for two, and found the serving sizes to be perfect. The inside of this little cafe is bright and adorable. I didn't realize they had outdoor seating, but they had quite a few tables in the little pedestrian alley. Would recommend!

Marley D.

Yelp
well presented and delicious as a kababayan we were extremely shocked of how good and tender the food was! We are from California and this is hands down, better than any place in San Diego

Michelle D.

Yelp
I finally made it to Harana after months of stalking their menu online. It did NOT disappoint. Walking in you're greeted with a clean and aesthetically pleasing decor. They play nice music and offer wonderful customer service. The food itself was phenomenal. Fresh ingredients which leave you feeling good when you walk out. The brisket on top of the beef mami was perfectly cooked. So tender and flavorful. The squash and coconut stew was so comforting. My only regret is not ordering dessert. They had an avocado ice cream which sounded amazing! Harana is a gem within Ashland. Counting down the days till I go back!

Gina O.

Yelp
We were so happy to find this place. We started with the lumpia and then had the Beef Mami and Squash and Coconut stew. They were all excellent and wonderful customer service. And they have natural wine to boot. We will definitely be back and super excited to have authentic filipino food.

Odulami B.

Yelp
If you are looking for something new in Ashland and love Lumpia's... then this is a great option. The space is small but tables rotate quickly. I highly recommend the BBQ pork and lumpia appetizer.

Suzanne B.

Yelp
You know it's good when the chicken adobo tastes like home. Be sure to ask for "bagoong" (fermented shrimp paste) with the kare-kare -- you won't regret it! :)

Charisse B.

Yelp
Omg I just love the fact that there is a Filipino restaurant in Ashland, Oregon! The owner and her son are so welcoming. Their food is delicious. Please do yourself a favor and stop by this delicious little cafe.

Catherine S.

Yelp
Amazing Filipino food. I miss home and this place exemplifies what Filipino food is all about... tantalizing on the tongue, a balance of sour, sweet, some salt, spice. Nothing overpowers the other. Not great or oily just delicious. We ordered the pork belly special with its super crackly skin, and succulent, tender meat....so good with the cucumber and rice. Don't miss the exquisitely crisp, thin skinned lumpia with such a luscious pork and vegetable filling. Rivals our family's own. The green mango salad was also delectably sour and sweet. It went well with what we ordered. The halo halo brings me back to my childhood with the different textures and fruity flavors... pandan, banana, jackfruit, be ice cream with creamy flan. Dive deep into its slushy goodness! Go just go already!

Christopher M.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Ashland. Been here 5 times now. Excellent food and service. Pay at the counter and then sit and enjoy.

Darryl H.

Yelp
Delicious. I'm Filipino and really enjoyed the food here. Brought back memories of home. Very friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. I had the lumpia and chicken adobo. Highly recommend.

Luke S.

Yelp
Beautiful little spot tucked in the heart of Ashland. We've been here twice since it opened, and every dish has somehow been better than the last. Prices are incredibly reasonable, staff is very friendly and provides impecable service. Look no further for your next dinner destination in Ashland.

Sampson M.

Yelp
This place is probably the best food in Ashland right now. Their lumpia is so good, the chicken adobo is delicious, but my new favorite is their beef mami. This dish made me feel emotions I've never felt before. It's the best thing I've ever eaten.

Russ G.

Yelp
Great Philipino FOOD! Sisig , Lumpia and Green Mango Salad were Very Good. Very friendly atmosphere. Cozy seating accommodations.

Julie K.

Yelp
WOW! Blown away! Three of us ordered something different and shared. we couldn't decide who ordered the best dish because all were equally as amazing. I had the coconut squash stew and my hubby had chIcken adobo, and our friend from Seattle had kare kare which was beef in a peanut sauce. that beef was both tasty and tender. Our drinks were unique and delicious. the table favorite was Islay Madame, I highly recommend if you like grapefruit, slightly bitter drinks. our Seattle friend had a margarita which had a very smoky flavor. we are kicking ourselves because we forgot to order desert!!! next time! the people were so friendly and beautiful, excellent service! the ambiance is happy and clean, beautiful plants and happy colors. cannot wait to return!!!

Rhomela L.

Yelp
Great food, they were able to serve authentic Filipino food, the owner is very nice and attentive, dining area is clean and bright. Highly recommended!

Andrew B.

Yelp
The lechon special was some of the best lechon that I have had. The chicken adobo and pancit was excellent. We loved everything and will make a point to go back whenever we are in Ashland.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Authentic and delicious Filipino food and the most gracious of hosts! A must try.... You won't be disappointed. Written by an authentic Filipina.

Christy S.

Yelp
A Filipino food newbie so didn't know what to expect. Looooved this place. We had chicken adobo, coconut and squash stew, mango salad and ube ice cream. All yummy. Sad we don't live in Ashland so we can't go back every week. Also, it's quiet, so you can hear your companions talk; a big deal for a person (like me) who wears hearing aids.

Muuqi M.

Yelp
Having grown up in Ashland I've seen a lot of food establishments come and go. Us locals have our favorites but that doesn't mean we agree on everything. However--every now and then a place comes along that stands out . . . Harana is one of those places. Great food. Wonderful team. Charming interior. You'd be foolish to not try it!!

Marcello R.

Yelp
Harana is sunshine in the form of a restaurant. The atmosphere is immaculate. It's casual, yet elevated, homey and exciting all at the same time. The food has been satisfying and perfectly prepared, every time. The cooks and staff know exactly how to make you feel welcome and taken care of, even though the cafe is meant to be a casual experience sans table service. Other Ashland restaurants have a lot to learn and should study the Harana formula closely...

Sam F.

Yelp
This is an excellent Filipino restaurant with truly authentic food. We had the Harana For Two (Chicken Adobo, Lumpia, Atchara & Jasmine Rice). WOW!!! The taste was amazing. The staff was friendly, helpful, and willing to talk with us about menu options. The portions were just right for the two of us. The cafe was very clean. We highly recommend this place.

Leilani A.

Yelp
The chicken adobo was incredible. Nice wine selection and friendly family atmosphere.

Nicholas B.

Yelp
So excited to have a new restaurant in Ashland. Harana is casual and the food is excellent. We got the chicken adobo, pork skewers, mango salad, and lumpia's which are Filipino style spring rolls. They also have a good selection of wine and cocktails. Staff were all friendly and attentive. I look forward to coming back soon!

Judson S.

Yelp
Really lovely food. We had the Adobe Chicken and the Mango Crepe appetizer. Wonderful moderately priced addition to the ashland culinary experience. I'm looking forward to trying everything

Lyndi R.

Yelp
You know this place is good when you arrive at 6:30 and they have already sold out of the 1st 2 items you've selected....but not the Lumpia and it was soooo good! Had the BBQ pork that was divine! I am looking forward to eating my way through the menu. PINOY POWER! #lumpiaislife

Emery R.

Yelp
the food is diverse, tasty and well presented. a fabulous place to share with others. the staff is warm, engaging and responsive! the 20 seat dining area is sparten, but bright, warm and clean! The food is VERY good! I would make this a stop on any road trip from California up to Portland!

Mark D.

Yelp
The lumpia and its sauce are out of this world. I would eat that sauce on anything and everything lol. Great service, amazing food and I almost forgot the noodles, they are fire!!!! Love this place!

Brandon B.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! I went with my family and we ordered just about one of everything. And every dish was great! The pork sig sig was my favorite. The drinks were excellent as well. I highly recommend going here!!

Jill m.

Yelp
Delicious food made with the freshest ingredients. It's so nice to have a Filipino restaurant in town.

Yelp
Best lumpias I have had. The pancit was different than what I was expecting (egg noodles and not rice noodles) but every bit as delicious. We came on a Thursday and it was busy!
