Best places to eat and drink on campus at Wayne State University in Midtown in Detroit | Eater Detroit

"A growing Yemeni coffee chain is opening a campus outpost, bringing signature spiced coffees and specialty drinks such as a pistachio latte, along with sweets like milk cake; several other metro Detroit locations make it a recognizable local brand." - Serena Maria Daniels

really love the decor and ambiance here it’s truly an experience every time I visit. However, when you’re charging a premium for pastries, I’d expect them to be top notch. There are just two things I really hope they can improve, because I genuinely enjoy coming here: the cheesecake and the tiramisu. Unfortunately, the cheesecake tasted more like straight sour cream than an actual cheesecake, which was quite unpleasant. The tiramisu, on the other hand seemed like it had been frozen and then thawed, which made it watery and bland. Both desserts were disappointing compared to the otherwise amazing atmosphere. I hope they can fix these issues, because I’d love to keep coming back and enjoy everything here to the fullest.

I recently visited Haraz Coffee Shop and was excited to try the Dubai chocolate croissant, given all the hype. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment and definitely overrated. The croissant itself tasted bland and stale, like it had been sitting out all day rather than being freshly baked. To make matters worse, the Dubai chocolate wasn't even properly incorporated. Instead of being filled throughout the middle, it was just stuffed at the very end, making it really awkward and irritating to eat.

The Turkish coffee is amazing and the avocado sandwich is fantastic. I enjoyed the coffee and service so much I ended up going back each morning on a recent visit to Detroit.

I recently visited Haraz in Corktown, and I’m honestly blown away. From the stunning, intentional interior design to the well-curated menu updates, everything felt fresh and elevated. The new sandwich additions are not only delicious but truly crafted with care and flavor in mind. What stood out even more was the new matcha bar a brilliant move that brings in a fun, vibrant twist while keeping it classy. It’s clear Haraz is evolving while staying true to its Yemeni coffee roots. A must visit spot if you’re in Detroit. 5 stars, no question

Haraz Coffee House is a beautiful addition to Worktown/Corktown. It ticks all the boxes—top-tier coffee (including unique Yemeni blends), fresh baked goods, comfy seating inside and out, and a design aesthetic that feels elevated yet inviting. If you live or work nearby, this is your go-to spot for coffee runs, meetups, or just enjoying a peaceful moment outside.

Loved the croissant! So full of chocolate and super tasty! The drinks were really good too, and the place was clean with a really nice, cozy vibe.

What a cool Detroit surprise. I’m no longer from the Detroit area. But just dropped in here while traveling through town.I had the Turkish coffee which came in the copper serving. Great quiet vibe on an early weekday morning.

Beautiful coffee shop, well thought out aesthetic and design, perfect vibe, nice music and delicious drinks! Last but certainly not least, the baristas are friendly and welcoming! They have an amazing dessert case too but I didn’t try those this time, I’ll have to come back!
