Google
Harborview Market is a must-stop during any road trip from NYC. The menu has something for everyone, but the breakfast burrito is my favorite out of any I’ve ever had. Definitely try the cookies if you have a sweet tooth!

Leila Dunn

Google
Harborview is a staple in the Black Rock neighborhood and has consistently offered amazing food & service for as long as I can remember. Their cozy, eclectic atmosphere is the perfect spot to meet friends for lunch or pop in for a quick coffee and pastry. Their staff is always helpful and friendly. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend stopping in to support this amazing local family owned business! And you MUST get a cookie! They are the very best cookies you’ll ever have - and that’s coming from someone who had them as the only dessert at her wedding! 10/10 would recommend!

Google
I have frequented Harborview nearly every week for the past 2 years. I am constantly met with great food and even better service. I am always met with a smile and great menu recommendations. I recently held my graduation party and it went beyond my expectations. My guests still won’t stop talking about the food that was served. If you’re thinking about coming here for lunch or having an event catered it is an easy yes. I want to have more events just so that I can hold them at Harborview.

Google
Food was so good! So many fresh baked items, made in house, delicious breakfast sandwiches and a full menu of coffee items. Would definitely recommend.

Sunny Wong

Google
This is a cute small place for breakfast and lunch. There is space to sit outside. Street parking. Their portions are pretty big.

Google
Harborview is amazing, a Black Rock staple. Their food is great- I’ve never had a bad meal. Their drinks and pastries are also amazing. The line can be long and the tables crowded, that’s only because it’s so good and truly a gathering spot for friends and neighbors. The staff is incredibly kind and very patient. Highly recommend.

Google
This is my FAVORITE place in CT. I’ve been going here for years and it’s so consistent. Their staff is wonderful and their cookies are even better! Hands down best cookie I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is perfect especially in the summer on the patio or a cold snowy day in the winter sitting at the front or back round tables in front of the window. So cozy no matter the season! You have to try this place it won’t let you down!

Google
A bustling neighborhood diner, with good quality food, though my experience was spoiled by a rude cashier. I was offered milk of the same flavor as my specialty latte. Not knowing whether this was considered integral to the drink, I asked what customers usually choose and received an eye roll in response, followed by "customers order whatever they want". This was unnecessary. That aside, my breakfast sandwich was good, and others seemed to enjoy their meals too. It took a while to find a table, but this place is so popular, that I imagine that's par for the course. Recommended if you don't mind being spoken down to.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious meal every time! The breakfast food is excellent- can't go wrong with anything. And, would highly suggest the cookies!! Sea salt is the best! Can be a bit of a wait when going at peak hours- BUT bring a game or a book and enjoy the company or the peace and quiet! Ambiance is fun and quirky but fits the beautiful neighborhood it's situated in!

Yelp
A lot of outdoor seating and much of it under trees make this feel like it's in a rural spot more than a city. There's plenty of indoor space also. Staff is friendly and inviting. No line and my Cuban sandwich came out pretty quickly on a real plate. Sandwich was delicious

Yelp
Well well well... we have another gem on our hands in the beautiful town of Bridgeport. My buddies and I stopped for a quick bite on a roadtrip and were pleasantly suprised by the lovely food and people at Harborview Market. Such a cute little spot with such friendly people. We enjoyed our breakfast sandwiches outside on a nice sunny day. My friends enjoyed theirs, and I loved the portuguese roll that my bacon egg and cheese was on. Coffee was good too. I wish I could come here every day.

Yelp
My husband introduced me to Harborview and I'm SO glad he did!! I love this hidden gem, tucked right into a sweet little neighborhood! It's been right here for ages and it captures such a rustic charm that you can't beat. The staff couldn't be more friendly!! I love their muffins, always fresh and hot! You'll always find all types of people enjoying their meals and drinks, it is such a family vibe and atmosphere, you really just have to go and see for yourself!!

Rosalie D.

Yelp
Great seating out under the trees. Maybe we ordered wrong. $10 bacon turkey avocado tomato sandwich came with mayo and 12-grain bread. Shaved lunch meat style turkey, one thin slice of avocado - barely could identify it. Maybe a delicious tomato or artisan bread? Nope - tasteless tomato slices and "12-grain" loaf bread. $10 on a plate with no garnish, chips or smiley face. Pulled pork sandwich on brioche - if you want sweet smoked flavored mush? This is for you $8.50. Maybe the omelettes or salads are better.

Yelp
They have the best chocolate chip cookies in the area. There is sea salt chocolate chip, regular chocolate chip, walnut chocolate chip. I stop by about once a month for cookies. I've dined inside for breakfast and have ordered the Cuban sandwich to go. I don't particularly have a favorite breakfast dish. The fresh croissants are delicious if and when they are available which is not often. The ice coffee is pretty good but overpriced. The inside is simple, family farmhouse style. With various size stables. There is outdoor seating. This location is pet friendly and they have water bowls. Service is okay. Nothing good or bad to add here.

Melissa T.

Yelp
The croissants are INCREDIBLE, i don't live in CT but is def a stop for me when in the vicinity. Only feedback is that the ordering process here is wildly confusing with no visible menus anywhere so no idea what's on the menu. Also suggesting an iced coffee pre set up for times they are busy. Waited 15 mins for an iced coffee the other day.

Yelp
This is the best hidden gem in the area. Our absolute favorite spot for croissants and cookies in Connecticut. As a coffee shop, the drinks options never disappoint and are always tasty. The weekend croissants & cookies are absolutely amazing, beating all bakeries in the area. The food menu is good as well, with options for the full family. Expect 45-1h15 wait time on weekends when dining in. If you are lucky, you might come across local bands and artists playing on the little stage, making this the coziest cafe in town!
google avatar

Daniella M.

Yelp
Everytime I come here I have a good experience. The chocolate sea salt cookies are a must to take home after a nice meal. It's a great spot for a quick coffee or a full breakfast/lunch. I love coming here to do some school work. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Really quick service and friendly people

Yelp
Harborview never misses! A great spot to eat clean (or indulge with their baked goods!) and gather with friends.

Yelp
Today was probably not the best day to randomly eat out. There was an hour wait. We didn't notice it was our coffee on the counter and we got it cold. When the order was ready they forgot 2 sides, one of which wasn't even placed on the order.

Emma B.

Yelp
They only have one dessert in many different flavors. COOKIES what a treat too go in late in the day and have one of the many varieties with a coffee or a cold glass of milk. You leave with a smile on your face. Service is excellent is very good.

Yelp
I haven't been to this place in quite some time. As a Black Rock resident, I felt I needed to stop by and visit. Oh my goodness, if you don't mind the long wait time for your food (my breakfast sandwich took 40 minutes) don't go on a Saturday morning. Otherwise the staff is friendly and professional, the atmosphere is lively and loud, and the food is fresh and delicious. If you must go on a Saturday or Sunday and the wait time conflicts with your schedule, I recommend getting your beverage and picking up some of their delicious baked goods. Those are ready to go. Good news. They've extended their hours. Open most days until 5:00 p.m. Fridays until 7 p.m.

Yelp
Very pleasant coffee shop deli grocery store that's been doing business at this corner for 100 years. Literally. Pick up your muffin, egg sandwich or whatever then go snag a table outside on the sidewalk. A sunny day makes the entire experience wonderful.

Yelp
I stand by what I said 4 years ago. We tried to go here for lunch this past weekend for a sandwich or something but there was an hour wait for any food. There were a lot of customers there, no one had any food. So strange. The menu is mostly soups/sandwiches.There's a ton of staff too, 10 at least! Anyways, we opted to not wait an hour for a sandwich and got coffee and cookies to go. They have way more variety of cookies than they used to which is very cool. I recommend the peanut butter cookie or their chocolate chip still above the new ones but the brown sugar one was tasty. Both the iced matcha latte and the iced coffee that was peanut butter inspired could be passed in my opinion, just get cookies.

Yelp
This is a great place in Fairfield. Very homey feeling despite it almost always being busy. The food is tasty; I got the Philly cheesesteak and the bread was the perfect amount of soft on the inside and crispy outside. Cheese was melted just right. I usually get breakfast here but now lunch is a must!

Yelp
"I saw the harbor lights I watched the harbor lights I long to hold you near and kiss you just once more But you were on the ship and I was on the shore" (The Platters) I can't remember the last time we went out to lunch, ordered our food at the counter, were directed to take a seat, and were told "it will take an hour for the food to come out". But it just happened on Monday at Bridgeport's Harborview Market. Maybe it was the Juneteenth holiday, maybe the kitchen was understaffed, I don't know because Harborview sure didn't seem crazy busy to us. After we ordered, we did get our drinks right away and wandered outside to find a table. My green iced tea ($3.75 for 16 ounces) was homemade and quite delicious. Harborview is oddly located smack in the middle of Bridgeport's Blackrock neighborhood. It's purely residential and is the only commercial establishment in sight -there are single family houses everywhere around you. So we had plenty of opportunity to sit and watch the cars in search of a parking spot and the locals walking over for a lunch. We needed all that time for a salad and two sandwiches to be prepared. About 75 minutes later, our food was delivered to us. Two of my lunch companions ordered the same item - a Btat Sandwich ($11.25) with Bacon, turkey, avocado, tomato, and mayo on 12 grain toast. The sandwich was served with a pickle spear. I went for a salad and chose the Sophie ($17.50) with spinach & arugula, carrots, red onion, cucumbers, spicy chicken, bacon, mandarin oranges, avocado, roasted walnuts, and a creamy garlic dressing. My salad was great - a very generous serving of hot sauced chicken tenders inside a big bowl of those fresh salad fixings. The dish was excellent and large enough that some of it came home for another round. But I havent even mentioned one of the very best features of Harborview -their cookies!!!!! OMG are they fantastic. We bought three for $5 and selected chocolate chip walnut, chocolate chip sea salt, and a brown sugar cookie and they fantastic. My favorite was the CCW - it was half an inch thick and absolutely loaded with chocolate. Harborview cookies have become quite a cult item -go Google them and see for yourself. So if you're a Cookie Monster, or have one in your family, next time you're around Bridgeport go and satisfy your sweet tooth, grab a few, or finish off your meal with one!

Yelp
Great breakfast sandwiches!! A nice local place, comfortable and friendly. I need more characters to finish this post.

Yelp
I enjoy going here with my girlfriend for breakfast. My favorite dish is La Pura Vida. It is a breakfast dish that has rice, black beans, 2 eggs , chicken and avocados. Their iced coffee is also good. My absolute favorite are the walnut and sea salt chocolate chip cookies. The staff is always friendly but the food can take a bit since they are full on the weekends. The ambiance is cozy. They have farmhouse still seating and chairs. You go up to.the counter to order, they bring you the food and you clean up after yourself once you are done.

Yelp
First time eating here. It appeared popular and has potential since its in a residential area. Outside area was kind of cluttered and unattractive. We sat on side of restaurant in dirt area to avoid crowded area with our dog. They can just make some simple changes to make the outside area nicer for patrons and for houses nearby. Not really any fully vegan meals so we had to adapt our meal. Ordered the buffalo cauliflower on panini bread. Buffalo sauce was made with butter so had to substitute a garlic type sauce instead that was put on the side. For $12 we basically got one piece of avocado toast with some cauliflower and lettuce. We were expecting a panini sandwich so it was underwhelming-- not to mention we had to wait about 30 minutes for two pieces of avocado toast. Didn't use sauce since we weren't confident it was vegan. Looked like a mayo type sauce. Meal tasted ok but just overall experience was underwhelming. BTW- if your a vegan who cares about environment and avoids single use plastic this isn't the place for you unless eating at restaurant. Don't order to go.

Yelp
I love the vibe of Harborview! Amazing breakfast and lunch options. I think the only thing is that it gets super busy and you might be waiting for a long time. But honestly it's worth the wait to me.

Yelp
This is the second time this week I tried Harborview Market because a friend lives close by. I ordered the Greek salad with "grilled" chicken, which is not actually grilled. Two days ago I ordered in the store and it took 10 minutes. Today I ordered over the phone and picked it up. It took over 35 minutes, for a pretty basic $15 salad. I guess if you throw olives, feta and cucumbers in the salad, you can call it Greek. The salad is not worth the wait or the price.

Naaz M.

Yelp
Fresh cookies and good ambience. A bit on the pricier side but I guess the fresh cookies and pastries make it worth it.

Yelp
Food is always delicious, their seasonal drinks are always fun and tasty. Great local small/business & always great service.

Yelp
Connecticut's best hidden gem. Best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had, best croissants I've ever had, and some damn good sandwiches too. It's a great place to grab some breakfast, lunch, or coffee whether you're with a group or by yourself. They play live music on the weekends too.
google avatar

Yelp
Very inconsistent service. I ordered the same food as some friends, and we ordered right after one another. Somehow, our food came close to 30 min apart. Two of us ordered a son of a B.E.A.C.H. which is really a breakfast bagel with bacon, eggs, avocado and cheese. It me about 30 minutes to get mine and an hour for my friend to get hers. Not sure what happened here, but the time it took make two breakfast bagels was slightly unreasonable. Now I'm sad to comment on their coffee. The first cup of latte I got from them was so good! Perfect mixture of foam milk and spices. This was the first item I got from the store so I thought this place was a hidden gem! I'm talking 5 star coffee. Finished it and ordered the exact same drink 20 min later. The staff definitely had inconsistent training here because the 2nd cup was terrible. Clearly had too much milk as almost 90% of the surface was white and the taste was off. There was something else wrong aside from the milk. Giving this place 3 stars, because the experience just swings between a 5-star experience and a 1-star in the span of 2 hours.

Yelp
No direction or customer service when someone new in the neighborhood is visiting a new location. Was forced to figured out on my own and people can tell the confusion I was dealing with. But at the end no help. Below was my actual experience when I visited this establishment towards the end of winter 2024: This is my first time visiting this establishment. I paid for the 'A.M. special' this included two eggs made your way, some bacon and a choice of a pair of french toast or pancakes. I also ordered multigrain toast on the side and a large coffee. Which came close to $18.00 and a $4.00 tip. The cashier was great. Then from there it all went downhill. She gave me the cup size I order and pointed the self serve coffee station along with a handheld number stand. Which I was okay with. That's when the interaction stop. I was left standing there to figured out my own seating and make my own coffee. As I scanned the room it was a given that you either share tables or get one for yourself when one becomes available. Since there was no seating available inside the market. I was force to eat outside in the winter cold. Thank goodness for the sun being out to warm my back and clear sky. So silly as it seems. I was the only person eating outside. My breakfast was served. But where's my side of multigrain toast? I was given French toast instead of pancakes. The only thing that was right was the eggs and a few 'bottom of the barrel' bacon that was crumbled up on my plate. No offer of syurp or a courtesy that a space open up inside. Just a server putting a plate in front of me with silver ware, no napkins and dashing out of my sight before I can ask him about my missing and wrong food order. I talked to the cashier inside and she made me wait for quite some time and forgot to talk to whomever is in charge. So yes. My meal went cold with birds eating from it while I waited to get feedback. I realized that this is a place you pick up your dirty dishes put them in a bin. Like a cafeteria and as I re-scanned the room. Low and behold lots of free space to sit. (Again a courtesy could be given to a person who's out eating alone in the winter cold). I left disappointed and not giving a thought to go back for a second chance. From a new customer who will never come back to dine. Thank you for making this experience unpleasant. Update: to Alex T the business owner/manger. Yes. I did ask for help. If you read above I did ask help with the cashier at the time. I was forgotten until she looked at my face while dealing with other customers. There's no feature here that lets me respond to you. But hey. Here's an update.

Yelp
This cafe sits quaintly in a gentrified neighborhood of Bridgeport. The cookies are fantastic, best I've ever had, and the food is damn good. They could step up their game by adding a spicy mayo, but otherwise no complaints. The coffee is delicious as well. I imagine you can't go wrong with anything on the menu and I would strongly recommend visiting if you're in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
The best cold brew in Fairfield county, and it isn't close. Go here now if you actually know what good coffee tastes like.

Golshad P.

Yelp
You should definitely give it a try! The ambiance is lovely, and it's a great local spot. They have some really tasty bakery options, including vegan choices, which is a nice bonus. However, I didn't enjoy the coffee--it wasn't rich enough and felt a bit watery to me. But overall, a nice place to check out!

Gerald G.

Yelp
Been here back to back days- only drinks ordered since the sandwich wait is 45 minutes plus. Like the area and would love to support local businesses, but this is way too long to wait for a sandwich ! Hopefully something will change in the near future as this place has a unique vibe, but difficult to order anything from the grill.

Alyssa Z.

Yelp
Harborview is a cozy place to get breakfast or lunch. I love everything I've tried on the menu and their staff is always so kind. After your meal, don't miss out on a croissant or a cookie, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Went on a summer afternoon with a friend. My sandwich was very good and we sat outside enjoying the neighborhood. Cute place and great cookies

Yelp
The service time for a simple breakfast has gone to heck. We got there in the morning. The crowd came and went and we were still waiting for our food. We ate the cookies we got an hour or so before to tide us over. We got our food at almost 12:30pm. At that point, I just wasn't hungry anymore. Lady who brought our food out couldn't care less. Dropped our food on the table regardless, had some words for us, then walked off. Not a good look. My poor wife was hungry, so she ate her sandwich while I patiently waited. I was down to just get a refund and leave. Wife informed me that she was refunded for ONLY my meal as expected. I was informed upon posting this review that the staff told the owner that we were comped 100% with is 100% false. She also told him that another customer defended her service to me. Another falsehood. Which is quite bizarre. We spoke to no other customers. I made a phone call while my wife returned my order. I did leave a 2 star, changed it to 3 star because I felt badly, but once the Owner (Alex?) wrote me so aggressively, suggesting I just delete it, reconsidered and awarded them a final 1-star. I feel I owe it to you Alex, to let you know when an employee has been dishonest. So there you have it buddy.

Cheryl F.

Yelp
Atmosphere is so pleasant, like being on a mini-vaca! Theyre usually packed so the food could take a while to prepare so either order ahead or do what I do, grab a coffee and read until the foods ready :) The food is totally worth the wait and if you're friendly you'll like it here because most people are chatty! The food is really fresh and they take care preparing the meals. You always feel like the food was made with love. The coffee similar to New Haven coffee! Pictured is the Melanie wrap minus the goat cheese on a spinach wrap. Yum! The Italian veggie wrap is also amazing and the soup is fantastic too! I usually come for coffee and end up eating a meal! So recap: Lovely atmosphere, quaint and scrumptious food & coffee!

Yelp
There are a ton of reviews here, and many accurate points which I do not need to rehash. I will make a few observations: Everyone comes for the cookies. There's a reason. Great coffee. Several different varieties, and some decaf options. Very tasty, and they have all the things you need (or don't-my girlfriend takes it black) to spice it up, including a little shaker of cinnamon. The tables are fabulous. We showed up late Saturday and played a board game. Spacious. Lots of room. I have had the food at many a catered event, and I absolutely love their sandwiches, but I have not been able to eat a meal there... It's crazy in there at any primetime. We arrived at 10:30 AM on Sunday so we could east brunch, and we were told that it was an hour wait if we could even make it to the counter to put our name on a list. I'm really happy to see an independent place so popular, and as I noted, the food I have tasted was great, but I am going to be hard-pressed to return at any time when one would normally eat a meal because it feels like the place is a bit too chaotic during prime time. If you have time time, and are willing to brave it, I have heard the in-house meals are really good.

Yelp
Best croissants EVER! We loved them. We live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Do you ship?

Yelp
Thank you to our niece and nephew for commending us to this hidden gem! It's in the middle of a residential area and it gives you the immediate impression that you are amongst friends, not your friends, but, they are friends who have been meeting there for years. A cozy wood fire stove adds to the ambiance. The staff is top notch, friendly and helpful. You order then sit w a number on your table. They obvy specialize in coffee with too many options to mention. My espresso was strong and good and my wife had regular coffee which she loved. Many options for add ins to the coffee. She also had avocado toast which was great. I had my first scromlette. Really interesting and delish! Not overloaded with cheese which I prefer. It was the scarpariello. I really loved it. Now, this place does mad baked goods, croissants (at least 3 kinds), cookies etc. Also great and people go nuts and buy 'em up quickly. All in all, we loved it and will be back often!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great classic food, and wonderful staff. Rick and his entire crew should be commended for giving us a place that feels like a home away from home.

George M.

Yelp
Bpt resident here. Every employee is angry to be there, except the register, who was nice. I waited in line for 25 minutes and then waited 45 minutes for a pork burrito, upon opening I realized they instead made me a rice burrito (pic related). Pork. The most abundant and low-cost meat in existence was skimped to almost nonexistence in my "burrito." After an overwhelming wait time no less. Note to the owner- get it together. or don't, I'm never going back. I hate your whole process. it's stressful and uncertain and your one saving grace is the quality of your baked goods, but the customer experience of your wannabe hipster cafe is a dumpster fire and you deserve to be called on it.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Harborview is a great casual spot for getting coffee with friends. They have tables scattered throughout the store and an outdoor patio for the warmer days. My usual order is the turkish coffee, a salted chocolate chip cookie, or a breakfast sandwich. If you come here for a breakfast sandwich, be prepared to wait a bit. While it's been taking ~40 min to get a sandwich, the time does go by fast. Just grab a nutella croissant while you wait ;) They are not the type of establishment that will push out customers for overstaying their welcome. The owner makes his rounds every so often and makes sure to say hi to the customers.

Yelp
My favorite place to chill, relax have some great coffee, a creative omelette, and hang out with friends. A unique place to be sure.

Bill N.

Yelp
I was not gonna send review of Harborview market, but seeing that you asked I was in the market with three of my friends about two weeks ago the person behind the counter what is not courteous was anxious I had not ever been in the Harview market before I did not know the menu and I had a look at it. My three friends and I all looked at one another. We turned around and we walked out and went to the circle diner a mile away. It'll be a long time before I ever go back to the Harborview market. Yelp
Great menu choices - coffees & teas too. Went for lunch - huge yummy salad! Great assortment of cookies - they were delicious too! Nice neighborhood location with seating options indoors & out. Service was friendly & efficient. Definitely a neighborhood gem - would absolutely recommend & if ever in the area again would definitely return!

Yelp
Guess who got in turkey baaaconnnnnn! Whoo-hoo! Hahaha, yay for those of us who spoke up and actually got what we were looking for! (Also need to mention - tried their plain and Nutella croissants today - deLish!)

Yelp
Comfortable and inviting neighborhood lunch and breakfast place. Best cookies and croissants anywhere. Be prepared to wait, make a friend and talk about life.

Yelp
Homemade cookies and muffins! Cranberry muffins are my favorite. Great breakfast and lunch items. I love to sit outside on the patio and enjoy a nice salad. It's better to come on the weekdays. Sunday mornings are crazy and you will wait awhile.

Yelp
The local hangout of the picturesque Black Rock neighborhood. Down the street from the scenic St. Mary's by the Sea overlook, Captains Cove, and The Black Rock Yacht Club. Great food, interesting options, and classics as well. It's a laidback place with an open vibe and communal tables. They have a good amount of outdoor seating as well, but when the weather is good you'll be hard-pressed to find a table during breakfast on the weekends, and during lunch hours Monday through Friday. Pro tip - get there early, and definitely try "The Irish" omelet and a specialty ice tea like St. Berries by the Sea. Try to be patient as the little kitchen and small staff in the center of the restaurant are cooking all the food themselves, so it may take a few minutes longer but it's worth that wait!
