Just wanted to rate the "Meditation" room, love the cozy feel and warm and heated room. It's slightly separated with a curtain, perfect for wanting a separate space. Great for sisters separating from praying with brothers. There are prayer mats available to use and I saw Meditation pillows. It's really nice to have these available for visitors especially because we could be visiting our loved ones all day or weeks. As a Muslim, I'm happy that they have this for us. Thanks!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. While I want to acknowledge that my surgery itself went well, the aftercare process has been a complete disaster. The coordination between the aftercare team and the pharmacy has been frustrating and disorganized. The pharmacists and aftercare doctors show little consideration for how patients are expected to manage their recovery. They seem to assume that every patient has a large family or strong support system to take care of them, which is simply not the case for many people. Their lack of understanding and care has caused me a great deal of unnecessary pain that I believe could have been avoided with more thoughtful and patient-centered support. Harborview needs to seriously improve its aftercare services and patient communication. Surgery alone is not the full measure of care—supporting patients properly afterward is just as important.

I’m currently waiting in the emergency room with a relative that was transported for a spinal injury we have been waiting for over 3 hours so far without any testing other hospital was concerned about paralysis and no diagnosis done yet also filthy in the ER this is unacceptable update now 11 hours since accident and here 5.5 hours still in ER no spine Dr yet animals get better care than this this is unacceptable what about standard of care?? Come on Harbor View do better!! This is unacceptable

Arrived 6/26/25 O/2 level was severely below the norm. I thought it was asthma, nope my heart was drowning from fluids. (Pneumonia). Triage went right to work. My anxiety level was surpassed by comforting thoughts. I was admitted for the longest stay I have ever had in a hospital. Now read closely!!!!! First floor east triage all teams get super high praise. I could hear what all staff members had to endure and I applaud their ability to stay composed... They (staff) needs to know that they are the best hands down anywhere! YOU ALL FRICKEN ROCK!!!!! THANKS FOR MY NEW LIFE!

Google
My recent experience at this hospital was nothing short of amazing. The last time I was in a hospital (over 20 years ago in California), it was a completely different—and not so great—experience. But this place is on another level when it comes to patient care. From the moment I arrived via paramedics, I felt well taken care of. The staff placed me in the **"Green Zone"**, and one of the team members reassured me, *"You’re in good hands here—this is the VIP section!"* That confidence was spot-on. My nurses, **Alexa and Alex**, were absolutely incredible. They checked on me regularly, ensuring I was comfortable and that everything was going smoothly. Their attentiveness and kindness made a huge difference in my stay. Once I was moved to a room, the care continued to impress. All the nurses specially Jay were punctual, professional, and genuinely concerned about my well-being. It’s rare to find a hospital where the staff consistently goes above and beyond, but this team does it effortlessly. If you ever need medical care, I **highly recommend** this hospital—they truly put their patients first!

Google
Genuinely one of the worst hospital experiences I’ve ever had. Their bedside manner is horrendous, aside from one or two nurses who were amazing. They moved incredibly slow and had zero sense of urgency when I quite literally lost THREE teeth and did not put them back in for over SEVEN HOURS. Once they did get around to preforming the procedure on me, they did it with minimal sedation or numbing and used an outdated method on me on top of letting some inexperienced “doctor” do it. I pleaded multiple times for them to put me under, asked for a different doctor, and even screamed stop multiple times. They told me and my family that I either let them do it or I don’t get the treatment I so URGENTLY needed. As a result of this horrible treatment I have to get lord knows how many more surgeries to fix what they did. They killed my gums with the stint they put in, which broke after three days and my teeth rotted due to improper storage and lack of urgency to get them put back in. This hospital needs to be closed down and put under immediate review for malpractice and negligence. Oh and I forgot to mention I came in on an ambulance and it took over 30+ minutes for me to get a bed at midnight. I was still actively bleeding, covered blood, in immense amount of pain and everyone who I had with me was told to go to the waiting room while I was rolled to a corner. I have emotional and physical damage from this visit that I will have to spend years working to get rid of. I HATE this hospital it’s dirty and disgusting and no one should go here unless they want to leave worse then a did before.

Google
This hospital is absolutely horrible. My brother was in a dirt bike accident and ended up breaking his femur and tibia along with completely destroying the top of his foot and they absolutely REFUSED to put him in his own room to make him more comfortable unless we paid out of pocket for it. He has been under surgery for his femur and tibia to be fixed but he needs plastic surgery for his foot. He spent 4 hours in pain and kept hitting his call button for a nurse and the nurses kept shutting his call button off without even coming into the “Curtain room” to ask him what he needed. They have denied a request for him to be transferred to another hospital and told my family that they needed to hand pick a surgeon at the hospital he wants to go to. This is not how you treat a young man who is at high risk of losing his foot.

Google
I struggle to rate Harborview Medical Center. My wife underwent a complicated surgery which required a two week stay. She ended up in different areas depending on stages before and after the surgery. For medical procedures Harborview has to get 5 stars. They are that skilled and state-of-the-art. The nursing staff should be four star. They are good, but I've seen better elsewhere. It's the administration of the hospital and the attitude toward visitors (especially primary care givers) that caused me no small amount of grief. I realize it's a big city hospital operating understaffed, dealing with lawlessness in its vicinity, coping with a pandemic, and bulging at overcapacity. But a patient's life partner is not a threat and can help the hospital by helping the patient. Many times I could not be there when she needed me most. I hope this improves in the future or Harborview could get a reputation for being a cold-hearted place.

Yelp
I would really check out the staffing in the area u r going to! If they r not caring and treating u like family then it's best to go elsewhere! My sister stepped on a nail, it went through her shoe and she was put into a gray boot. Having other health issues, u would think the doctor would have immediately gave her antibiotics! This didn't happen until I took my sister to the Emergency dept at Valley Medical Center. Harborview had her in a boot for at least 6 months...it was like they wanted to cut her feet off. I kept mentioning about her weight n height and needing Diabetic education because of her being developmentally delayed. I still didn't get the help after a few years and a doctor change. It's a shame they didn't want to help my sister when I kept reaching out!

Yelp
Wish I could give 0 stars! I was admitted to Harborview for spinal surgery. Following the first surgery, I was placed in the burn unit. Throughout the day and night, patients were constantly screaming in pain. After my second surgery, I was immobile and unable to care for myself. This occurred at the beginning of COVID, so my husband was unable to stay with me or even visit. During my time there, I was dropped by the pt staff, severely over medicated, emotionally and verbally abused by staff, and left in my own urine/feces for hours. When I voiced what happened to the floor nurse and the care team, my pain meds were held in retaliation by the nursing staff. During my last week there, I was sexually assaulted by a male nurse. Once I left the hospital, I shared my story on my survey, wrote a letter and told my surgeon what happened. His response, " I'm not surprised.." Stay away from this hospital!

Yelp
Amazing top notch care. HMC lives up to its five star reputation. The surgical foot and ankle team was wonderful.

Yelp
I was very fortunate to have lived so close to Harborview when I lived in Seattle. This is a level 1 trauma center with some of the best doctors on the west coast. If you need any type of medical care, this is the place to go. The entire medical staff is super helpful and does their job professionally.

Yelp
Such a sad experience- long ER wait- left in a hallway with Policemen and chained prisoners walking past- constantly. It was beyond a Zoo. Worst experience for my anxiety attack- and I was overlooked for hours. The only decent part was the kind intern. Otherwise, I would NEVER go or take ANYONE here that needs care. NEVER AGAIN!

Yelp
The ICU team is amazing. My father was well taken care of during his 1 month stay. Doctors and nurses all remained in contact with the family to keep us posted on dads condition. The only "meh" is the cafeteria, which was under construction. It was a bit chaotic, so avoided after the 2nd attempt, but there was plenty of food options within walking distance.

Yelp
I have an update on my complaint against Harborview Medical Center after filing a complaint with the Washington State AG. Harborview responded with a letter saying that, although they do not have a signed admission form from me on the night I arrived there (without my consent); they performed 3 expensive tests on me (2 XRAYS & a CAT SCAN) because I had amnesia (they claim). But that is NOT what happened - I did not have amnesia, I was passed out drunk. So they are just lying now to cover up their unscrupulous business practice of performing medically uneccessary tests on unconscience patients without insurance. Avoid this Hospital if you can

Yelp
Compared to the Tacoma area Harborview is excellent. Only the last spinal surgery I had there a doctor commented to me that Harborview is like the red-headed stepchild of the UW-They get the castoffs from UW. I'll be going solely to UW after that comment and my absolutely grueling experience with my last surgery there.

Yelp
I recently was sent to Harborview's maxiofacial surgery center for an issue with my jaw. I appreciated their patience, that they leaned into conservative care with me, understanding how scared I am of surgery. The energy was vibrant. The staff was attentive, and their follow up in the MyChart system was swift and responsive. For an added bonus I got a beautiful room with a view.

Melanie C.

Yelp
In the ER I was treated very professionally and compassionately by the staff. They thoroughly evaluated my whole body to determine the extent of my injuries and ordered ct scans promptly. It did take a long time for all the tests to be completed. I was there for 10 hours. But in their defense, they were extremely busy.

Jean M.

Yelp
From the check in desk to surgery and discharge, I was treated with respect and professional care. I was kept very comfortable, and at the same time, my privacy was assured. Harborview and the Foot and Ankle division of the Orthopedic Department are top notch.

James H.

Yelp
1. Very hard to get Human Resources on the line. And don't bother leaving a message because it takes about a month to get a call back . 2. Payroll is always late in submitting hours. They do their best to submit payroll a day late so it avoids employees getting paid early even if their bank institution allows it. Swedish and Valley are always a day or two early when it comes to submitting hours on workday.

Yelp
My husband and I were in a bad car accident on July 3rd and he was airlifted to Harborview Medica Center due to a traumatic brain injury. He spent 2 weeks in the Neuro ICU and the Trauma ICU. We overall had a good experience, but when he was admitted to the Trauma ICU he had a magnificent nurse named Rachel. She was a traveling nurse from Philadelphia and was working at HMC until the end of July. She was so wonderful to my husband and worked tirelessly to ensure he had the best treatment. She was his biggest cheerleader while we were there. Rachel spent time making sure that we really understood what the doctors were doing and explaining it to us in terms that we understood. Rachel spent extra time getting to know my husband and treated him like a friend rather than just a patient. We noticed that she was not only incredibly kind to us, but also to each of her patients. My husband was transferred to another hospital for a surgery , which was great for him and his recovery, but we miss Rachel. She was by far the best nurse we encountered in our long stay at HMC! I hope that Rachel gets to see this review and know how much we appreciated her and her care while we were there.

Yelp
I was admitted into the ER Friday. EMT were great. Experience was not great in the ER cuz I felt forgotten for two hours and every time I called out for help to someone walking past the opening in the curtain and one even acknowledged me must by signaling with their hand one moment. Literally never followed up even though they walked past me repeatedly. The ortho doctor was friendly though. Caused lots of pain but needed. Then the experienced changed once admitted. Anna was the best RN there that made the rest of the experience comfortable for me. I can't thank her enough for how she took care me. I'd give a five but that ER experience was horrible because they moved me and I'm pretty sure they forgot about me for 2-3 hours on a dose of something that did nothing for my pain. Felt completely ignored. Even made eye contact with people in that glass office and nothing. I don't cause scenes but I swear I was about to take my boot off and throw it at someone for attention.

Lanae S.

Yelp
Instead of getting thrown in a hallway with a lot of sick patients and bare minimum of anybody checking on you I would not go here again I got pricked 3-4 times due to my veins being small went home woke up the next morning to these bruises...

Yelp
I absolutely recommend Dr Louis Kim, a neurological surgeon and his wonderful team at Harborview. He was the third surgeon I had consulted on the possibility that I had a cerebral aneurysm. All three agreed that it was still small and possibly did not need an intervention immediately, but with Dr Kim I felt most confident that after doing an angiogram to assess it, he would offer the most reasoned approach to next steps. He explained the details of the procedure in a manner that a lay person could easily understand and was brilliant in the post-op consult. A Five-star experience.

Nikki M.

Yelp
my son suffered a catastrophic brain injury and was brought from Alaska to Seattle. he was not expected to live. He is now walking and talking!!! As we are nearing discharge I'd like to share our experiences. He has been here for 2 months. A month in Neuro ICU, then to Acute care and finally Rehab. We have met the kindest, smartest and most caring people. Have there been a few hiccups, yes, but they were always addressed and fixed. my advice for anyone spending a long time in the hospital is have your family around. You really get the best care when they see family members involved. I thank Harborview for saving my son.

Renee K.

Yelp
Was admitted on Monday for surgery. White-collar roommate had the exact same surgery. Nurses and staff checked on her every 2 hours. I get checked once a shift. Bled heavily and lay in it for an hour. Doctors seemed attentive at rounds but hard to reach otherwise. Developed an infection. Denied meds until release time.Run, don't walk, to another hospital. Urgent Care is better.

Yelp
Thanks to neurology ARNP Hannah Rockett, I can easily prove that the UW discriminated against me and denied me any care when my immense pain could have been helped. She ignored all of my hard surgical data to deny me the right to thrive based on my sex and my age. I've had a failed neck surgery validated by the Washington State AG's office and the Washington Medical Commission. My surgeon left the Polyclinic after these investigations and is currently unemployed. I had 100% federal disability before that for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, hyperadrenergic postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and numerous lifelong injuries. I also have a Chiari brain malformation, five Tarlov cysts, and degeneration in my spine. I was dealing with drama where despite all of this and not even being six months out from a failed neck surgery at 32, my UW resident PCP just out of med school diagnosed me with faking it somehow. I was having convulsions that chipped teeth and had to completely vacate my life and my intense sport - I was a dancer who traveled Europe. I sought help so I could resume my life at the lowest point of it, and was treated with disdain and suspicion for it. Hannah Rockett, a neurologist who should've known better, didn't bother to look at any of my imaging and also diagnosed me with faking despite having access to images of my brain sliding into my spinal canal. She decided to evaluate me with seconds of pure judgement and prejudice instead of from a science-based doctor's perspective backed by evidence. She is truly dangerous and has likely hurt and neglected other patients in pain as well. She sent me home to suffer, and I stopped seeking medical care for over a year because my junior doctors at the UW wouldn't listen to me. Now I'm being seen for decompression neurosurgery and on an injectable medication for occipital neuralgia, one of countless neurological disorders that can be invisible and matched my every symptom. Hannah Rockett failed to evaluate me and ordered no imaging to see what was going on with me. She chose not to reference my MRI imaging where I have clear cerebellar tonsillar ectopia and went off of the word of a resident doctor who had admitted to me in our first session that she hadn't even skimmed through my chart. Hannah Rockett wanted concrete evidence for everything, but this goes against the basic tenets of her "specialty." There is no concrete evidence for most neurological disorders, and when it existed - my Chiari imaging - she didn't even look at it. I was in a Catch-22: I couldn't win. Hannah Rockett set me up to fail and gave me no path forward. I was diagnosed again with "somatization," which Brown.edu says most "don't believe" occurs in men. It's a fanciful obsession with fake symptoms. So basically, I was diagnosed with modern-day female hysteria for debilitating post-surgical symptoms and serious neurological disorders that can be treated or fixed. I have never been judged so severely or so baselessly in my entire life. (I didn't truly understand sexism before I came to the UW. Now I'm very familiar, and have diagnosed, medical-related C-PTSD ... ) Hannah Rockett is the key that will help me prove I stood no chance at getting fair & objective care from the UW. Even a specialist had no time or compassion to care for me. Even a specialist disregarded the most basic descriptors of her job to demean me and send me home when all I ever wanted was to run, travel, and dance again. If you're young and female, I can't recommend the UW. I especially can't recommend Hannah Rockett: it's sad because she otherwise has good reviews, which means she chose to pick me - autistic, freshly post-op, and female - to discriminate against, humiliate, and hurt (I wonder if she's heard of the Hippocratic Oath - first do no harm). I'm interested in finding out why I was singled out for mistreatment; I'm suing her, and all of the UW Medicine, for malpractice and sex, age, and disability-based discrimination. I have slots on major podcasts reserved and will be speaking about this for the rest of my life, mentioning ARNP Hannah Rockett by name every time. I hope to even speak before Congress on how the most vulnerable are treated by healthcare, especially teaching facilities like the UW Medicine. My new medical team is horrified and say I've been prejudiced against. This facility also botched my CT with myelogram and gave me proven spinal degeneration. I feel pinching pain every single day in my lower back when I felt no pain there before. It's been 1.5 years and I know it'll be forever. This teaching clinic hurts women, doesn't believe women, cripples women and families, and ruins female lives. They source low-quality, untrained junior doctors from all over the country and dump them on us here in Seattle. You're worth more than this place, mama. Go elsewhere.

Yelp
Don't recommend this hospital to Anyone. They are Really Rude here. And long Wait times. they keep checking people in but they don't call anyone inside.

Bee B.

Yelp
ER. The only redeemable aspect of this visit were the women checking me in and triaging care, and the labs taken. They seemed to get it immediately.Otherwise, I was not fully heard during my visit about my symptoms or about my medical history. They drug tested me, dismissed my report, and wrote that my symptoms were most likely psych oriented AT THE ER, even though my mental status exam report was normal with zero psych history or GAD 7 filled out.Was my attending doctor intern an MD Psychiatrist? No he wasn't, he was condescending though to be certain. I had faith in the public UW system, but not much was done well here. Go to a private hospital like I should have done.

Yelp
7Awoke after surgery to scratchs and gouges on my leg and abdomen. I asked what these were and noone had answers. I would say I had a reaction and noone was observant to notice. I belched all Fri and Saturday and no one addressed the problem until I had such severe gas I was beside myself and begged for baking soda. They looked at me like I was crazy. After raising hell and requested a transfer o another hospital they gave me something. One aide decided to punish me for peeing the bed and poured COLD water on me!! I know that the wipes can be cold but never heard of that before. When talking to the day nurse and telling him what occured, he was shocked. As she was in the room at the time of the conversation, to save face the aide put a pad on the commode so I wouldn't get cold! Not sure how I Could eliminate with a pad on there! When the aide left the room, the nurse chucked the pad and didn't know why she did that. I explained to him it was to save face as she was the culprit. My roommate waited 3 hrs for pain medication and was stuck in the restroom for an hour without toilet tissue!! When an orderly came to tell me they were sending help for me,I asked when my roommates nurse was coming with her pain medication. He proceeded to tell me off in no uncertain terms!!!!!! We had NEVER had anyone speak to a patient that way!!! He was reported to the shift nurse but the room was dark and we didn't have a name. Sunday I asked 3 times for pain medication and was told they would tell my nurse. The 4th time I asked what was going on and they said the nurse had been in a meeting and would be told. As I was in much pain, I was furious they lied to me and told them they were about to have their first patient fall for their records and threw the call bell. With much difficulty I clmbed out of bed and almost made it to the door! My nurse came and asked where I was going. I said I was going to the hall to scream until I got help. Again I asked to be transferred to another hospital. I told them I would leave against medical advice but I was leaving. X-ray wouldn't do my X-rays because they hadn't got m3 up to walk at all. But because I walked myself they finally took them. It took all day to get discharged. I was sent home with no written instructions nor the referral for home health care. To this day no referral has been received. I can not bath myself nor do wound care! Most of the time they rarely listened to you. Here were very few good staff there, Good ones: nurse Ben, Kansay, Dr.De Sean and two aides who I can't remember there names, maybe Brittany and Emily. It was the worst experience of my life and I will never ever return to Harborview Medical for any reason.

Yelp
Evaluation for access to & from my house to hospitals, Dr appt, etc. I'm tethered to a walker or cane now. So handicapped accessibility is a priority. I loved being able to train in the Metro Bus. I was in the clinic part of the hospital. I found the staff very nice, personable & inviting.

Yelp
If you have an emergency, don't come here. Not unless you are decapitated or you are a danger to yourself/others. I brought my partner from West Seattle who was in intense pain (we found out later it was kidney stones). We waited for 3 hours and weren't seen. A person with a leaking catheter had been waiting longer than us, someone with a broken finger even longer. Someone mentioned being there since 4:30pm and it was 8:45pm. Alas, a drug addict comes and says he is a danger to himself while cracking jokes with triage, gets seen right away. So I guess just say you're suicidal and you're golden. Honestly, this place is more of a detox than an emergency room. Luckily my partner used their bathroom and passed the kidney stone, didn't need a doc after all! Definitely won't be back. Edit: My partner was still charged $400 for a "triage fee" even though we just sat in a chair until we left without being seen.

Yelp
Our son was here for surgery. While we waited, we saw doctors coming to talk to waiting relatives, helping people get meds before their loved ones come out of surgery, so much care. We are so very impressed. Everyone is beyond nice and helpful. The level of personal attention, not only to the patients, but also to the family is fantastic.

Yelp
Forget this hospital exists!!! Leaving a review to save people money and time and health. Not to bash the hospital. Waited in the ER for 24+ hours with no updates. Multiple contradicting prognosis's. Bunch of useless doctors and baby nurses with little experience and no urgency to give updates. If you ever want to know what a person in an insane asylum experiences, go to this facility. Find another UW branch or go to swedish.

Yelp
This is a review about an employee there- " KEN". He has worked there for a very long time and helped me find the cafeteria yesterday. Harbor view is a large hospital and I always seem to get turned around there. I must have looked lost when he came up to me. What a nice man! He works in the mailroom & is probably in charge of it. He had extra knowledge about the hospital and even stopped to point out a poster with other employees & " bosses." He knew who had retired, who had family, what nationality they were, and more. This whole conversation and walk lasted less than 10 min., including the elevator trip. Yes, I was on the wrong floor. I think Ken, from the mailroom, needs to get his own poster. He represents what most hospitals & businesses, in general, are missing today; human interaction and a genuine caring attitude. I didn't ask for him to escort me to the cafeteria, he just did it. He said he " had a minute", and off we went. After spending hours assisting a family member in the ER, an RN recommended the cafeteria area for a break. I'm glad she did & I'm glad I met Ken. He is a true asset to your hospital. He not only gave me his time, by assisting me to the cafeteria, he gave me hope in humanity. I can only imagine what he sees on a daily basis. I know what I saw in only a few hours, in your ER area of the hospital. Employees like Ken, smooth the rough spots of a crazy world.

Yelp
Sitting in the Nuero-ICU with my friend who had a stroke. He is unconscious but they are taking great care of him. The staff here are like the staff you would find in some of the best hospitals around the world. Almost everyone here has treated my friend and us fantastic, especially considering the circumstances. I have been here for five days and the medical staff are consistently above anything you might expect. From Tye people who clean the floor to the surgeons & specialists, I am relieved that my friend is in such good hands. These type of situations can be nightmarish but the staff here do everything in their power to make it bearable for family and friends. No one should have to witness a loved one suffering but they monitor them so closely and take time to explain things when you have questions. There is a level of care here that seems to be set so high and you will definitely notice it. The sonographers here are top notch as are the RNs, ARNPs, MDs and all of the different department staff we have interacted with. The social workers and help desk staff go out of their way to help and they even have a room to sleep in for family members and showers with any toiletries you would need. I'm sad my friend is suffering but he is in the best hands possible. We had him med-evacuated by helicopter from another hospital where they were just going to let him die and not do anything. Luckily we found Harbourview Nuero-ICU. I just want everyone to know that you won't worry as much having your loved one cared for here. They're in good hands. May all of our loved ones be free from suffering...

Yelp
The ER has come a long way since my first visit there in 2016 - a horrific experience in all respects. Poorly trained nursing staff, overworked and sometimes overwhelmed doctors. . .Left on a gurney in a hallway for two hours before anyone saw me and then rather harshly denied pain meds. Back then, if you asked for something, you got that "drug seeking" response which encouraged me to leave and get help elsewhere. But this past Sunday, six years later, I got fast and professional treatment for a blown inguinal hernia. I never had to ask for anything - they kept me as comfortable as possible, medicated me sensibly and quickly for pain, and did their best to reset the rupture. Credit an excellent ER nursing staff and especially Dr. Ilgen, who spent time with me explaining the procedure before he started. Discharge protocols were also excellent and included all of the referral information I needed.

Yelp
I'm from out of state and had to visit the ER prior to going on a cruise. It's not the cleanest of hospitals but I have to say every staff member I dealt with was very kind and caring. I was there about 4 hours and listened to the way others were treated a lot of addicts in the ER and the staff was very patient and kind with them. These people have a tough job and I was very impressed of how kind they were to these people. Thankful I was taken care of in my emergency need.

Yelp
My sister passed away in this hospital and her belongings (purse and other times) were recorded. However, when my family went to retrieve them, we were told that they never made it to the storage room where items are stored for pickup. I reached out MANY MANY times to the patient relations department and have not heard back. His last response was that he does not have information as to what happened to her belongings. I believe the hospital has deplorable practices for dealing with their deceased patients, when no family is present. They were careless and I would appreciate some answers.

Yelp
Went to the ED today. I was privy to a lot if other folks issues while I was in my little curtain cubicle. I swear every single patient was treated with respect, dignity, and genuine care by every single staff member in every position. Going to ED? Not so fun. Being surrounded by king caring people? Pretty awesome.

Yelp
My experience with Harborview has been an absolute and utter shit show. The lack of communication and care has left me absolutely flabbergasted. My partner had a stroke and as if this wasn't a stressful enough time for us a nurse left him unattended on the edge of the bed knowing he has short term memory issues. He fell face forward and hit his head TWICE. They lied about it to me and I had to find out the truth from his roommates visitors. I was told he tried to get out of bed on his own to go to the bathroom but he did not have the strength to sit up or get out of the bed currently. There was also no alarm on the bed so no alarms alerted anyone. The nurses name was Kristen, a heavier set, brunette traveling nurse who has been doing this for years. She was working in room 380 the week of December 5th 2022. On December 7th around 6 p.m. She walked away after he had dropped his urinal on the floor and he stated he dropped it. She disappeared behind the curtian on the otherside of the room. He then must've leaned forward to pick it up not remembering he can't walk because his short term memory is all over the place right now. The VISITOR of his neighbor had witnessed, not the nurse, him fall forward onto his knees and then hit his head on the door, roll and hit his head again. They then ordered a CT scan of his spine, head and x-rays of the shoulders. They never preformed the shoulder x-rays despite us pushing because and I quote "other people take precedence over this" but I think that maybe they noticed a soft tissue injury and needed to wait until the swelling went down so it didnt show up on an x-ray if they maybe waited a few days. The day after this happened, Dr. Anthony Lee stated he had been medically cleared for physical therapy 3-5 days PRIOR, which was never disclosed to us, and they were waiting on the paperwork to go through for physical therapy that was December 8th 2022 at approximately 10:40 a.m. the next day just before 2 p.m. on December 9th the nurses tell us he isn't medically cleared and that's not in his file and they hook him up to an EEG to monitor him for seizures which had never been a concern in the 2 weeks he spent under their care. I had called and spoke to the charge nurse on duty who said she would send a doctor to come talk to his mother and sister that night. No doctor came to talk to them about our concerns. The charge nurse noted in the computer that a doctor had talked to them. They were just trying to cover their own asses. They then told his mother and sister he's not medically cleared and they have to do this test for 24 hours. The next morning December 10th, less then 12 hours later, he was being unhooked. His sister asked why if he needed to be monitored for 24 hours was it unhooked early. The nurse stated the doctors said he had cleared the test. Dr. Lee came to speak with Albert's sister. He had no idea why they did an EEG to monitor for seizures and that he never authorized it. He also told us the charge nurse had never paged him to go speak with any of us. He encouraged us to file a complaint and was also upset with the lack of communication we were receiving. During this 2 week stay in Harborview they never bathed Albert. WE had to personally buy our own wipes to help clean him up. There were a couple days when we came in his eyes were crusted shut and he couldn't even open them! Another day his sister came in and even though it had been stated he needed to be at a 90° angle to eat, when she came in he was laying at like a 30° angle and covered in food. I can't even imagine if he choked no one would have been paying attention. Update January 30th 2023 We visited a cardiologist who confirmed my partner is in mild heart failure. At Harborview they had been monitoring his heart but told me It's fine and "nothing to worry about" and "it was just beating a little slower then usual" no one had mentioned this while he was there. They have also not compiled in getting medical records for his insurance. The few records I do have from Harborview on his "My Chart" app has mentioned comparing his MRI to scans done in October. Which never happened as he wasn't in the hospital in October or had an MRI before November 27th. If I could give less then 1 star I would.

Yelp
Long overdue review but I went in to speak to a doctor or any medical authority I could about emergency anxiety medication. I could not function or sleep for nights on end and was desperate. I was taken into the psyche ward and stranded there for hours without my phone or any way to call anyone. A male clinician threatened to "tie me to the bed" since I started berating the staff that this whole thing was mishandled. Rapey vibes. Do not go. Do not put yourself at the mercy of these idiots.

Yelp
I was here in the emergency department with my sister and it was the worst service that I've ever seen. They put her in a room and forgot about her and no one checked on her even though she was coughing up blood and having shortness of breath. I had to keep asking the nurses if they can come and see what's needed to be done and was told ct scan. We waited for 4hrs and after I hunted down a nurse was told that they are waiting on a pregnancy test that was supposed to be done hours ago and after the blood test we waited another hour until asked another nurse to see if the results are back. We waited six hours for ct scan and after 8 hrs we are still waiting for the results

Yelp
Nightmare from beginning to end. My husband is alive so they did their job but no communication with me except a 5 minute phone call from a resident when he was in the ICU. 5 days later I said I would not leave until I found out his diagnosis and treatment plan and the attending spoke with us after a 2 hour wait. No one called with discharge instructions. No one called for follow up. Took 4 days to get through on the phone for his follow up visit which will NOT be in person, telemedicine only. What an uncaring nightmare of a place. The worry and anxiety they have caused has scarred me for life.

Yelp
The worst hospital I have ever had to stay at. HORRIBLE employees, they will abuse you even steal from you if you stay over night, they will skip bringing you food or water. Stay away from this hospital. 0/5 rating .

Yelp
Needed to be seen for chest pain...brought me in just about 20 mins and were very professional ...had a dozen peeps working on me at the same time...doc saw me in about 10 min...my nurse introduced me to himself as Travis and was incredible kind and helpful..told me everything that was about to happen...i didnt get he name of the other staff , but, they should be commended as well ..Dr Niswander was in promptly and told me all i was about to go through..very friendly and comforting.. i needed to have a ct and am clausetrophobic the nurse/techs were so understanding and helpful..i would not have made it if not for their support. i would recommend harborview highly and want to thank profusely the staff and all the people that were not on staff at the time of my appointment...

Yelp
I am wowed by the attentiveness of some of the staff, not so much others as it seems there's a huge lack of communication between shift nurses,or doctors and surgeons. They do not follow all of the rules they say are implemented. I could go on and on but feel what's the point. They did their job and Nothing more.

Yelp
I was transferred here on may seventh two thousand twenty two. I was transferred here from a local emergency department due to a complicated elbow fracture. I had no choice in coming here none. First of all, let me say I spent my best Guess Eight hours in the emergency department before a room was available. Once I was taken to a room which, by the way, had another person in it. This One nurse was extremely rude and unprofessional and demanded. I stripped as I was already in a hospital gown. I spent four nights here and every night was extremely Painful. Once I was released from this place, I read my chart notes and discovered. I was given anti Is anxiety medication without my knowledge. During the discharge process it took them over six hours to get me discharged. And because it was at the height of covid, my boyfriend was not allowed to visit me at all. Nor was he aloud to come into the lobby. At least so that I could have some clean clothes. Due to the fact that the previous hospital had cut off my shirt I had to ask for a shirt which was a sweatshirt with long sleeves, and my elbow and arm was in a make shift cast. The food wasn't horribly terrible. However down the road two months after this surgery I contracted a nearly fatalMRSA Spinal infection that led to Sixteen days on event later and a total of five weeks at the swedish medical center. After many cases and MRIs it was Determined the source of this infection was one of the hardware plates that was used in the repair of my elbow. During many of those surgeries that I had to undergo its Swedish. That hardware plate was removed and and. Swedish determined the source of the infection was that hardware plate. However, later on, when I questioned politely, the original surgeon. She had no answers for me. My infectious disease doctor had a conversation with this original surgeon. And according to harbor view, they have very little suspicion that my spinal infection was caused by this plate. I find this very disconcething do to the fact that until I fractured my elbow, I was in general good health. I'd had a few surgeries. You know, gall bladder Hernia repair Surgery. I spoke to several attorneys and they cannot link The surgery to my infection. Because of this infection I spent four months away from my home. And while I'll never be able to prove it. Legally, I feel that harbor view did not do everything in its power to prevent that infection. And the follow up appointment that I had just before The infection I told them at the trauma clinic that my elbow was very warm and it hurt It was ignored and not taking seriously.

Yelp
I wish I didn't have to give this place any stars. This place is aNightmare. 8 weeks ago I fractured my elbow in 4 places. Since my local hospital was incapable of doing this complex surgery I was set up here with no choice. I was terrified of this place. I received no compassion no kindness other than some Tech in the ER department who brought me some juice and cheese. The nursing staff are a bunch of uncaring b******. To one nurse especially whom I think was a Muslim because she Was covered from head to toe. This nurse told me to shut up on several occasions. To this day I don't remember why she told me to shut up but she did. I think it was because I was so doped up on pain meds They are a bunch of bullies trying to get me to eat when I couldn't. When I did eat the food was c***. You see I was up there all by myself it was a 100 miles from where I live and because of this covid policy my boyfriend who is not Vaccinated was not allowed to visit. H*** he couldn't even come into the lobby and drop me off some clothes on the day of discharge due to the fact The original hospital that I went to cut my shirt off. I had to practically beg them to try to find me a shirt so I could leave the hospital the hospital it took them 45 g****** minutes to find something. I think there's a little p***** off at me because I have flat out refused used to do occupational therapy up there. I am barely able to make the follow up appointments. I think I always will be p***** off at this hospital for the treatment that I received. I did CallAnd file the complaint however however I don't think anything's being done. All I got was your typical Lip service say all we're so sorry and we'll train our nurses better. Oh sure they will.

Yelp
Their sexual violence center has gone downhill. They'll claim to offer Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) but they're not following the requirements of those evidence based practices. I've contacted the psychologists who created each of these interventions and they agree. You'll find that their therapists rush you and will make you start exposure therapy before they even finished diagnosing you or getting your medical history. They'll refuse to call you back, stand you up for appointments and they don't provide you with any information about email privacy but they'll require you send extremely sensitive information to them by email, not the patient portal. Their therapists claim they don't know how to use the portal. Filing an ethics complaint is also pointless. They won't return your calls or emails. Talking to the clinic director? He has zero empathy. They charge for exposure therapy but they don't give you the version that is adherent to the treatment protocol. They give you a rushed, fast food version. They'll get you to transfer all your meds to their psychiatrist and then they'll tell you after that "our prescriber can't help you for more than about 6 weeks". They have no idea how to manage a wait list and the therapists voicemails are always full so good luck ever getting anyone to respond, even if you're a current patient and need help due a prescription. They even have apps for PE and CPT that are free to use but Harborview is super behind on tech and mental health.

Yelp
If I could give no stars I would. This is the dumbest hospital ever I'm constantly in pain constantly not getting attended to constantly being ignored and neglected But keep giving me excuses as to why their staff is so horrible everything takes at least an hour plus to happen I'm here with a broken leg I came to get it fixed I'm leaving with Covid because they don't do their jobs because they're so lazy and careless with their patients. When you have a problem they'll go to the ends of the earth to get you to not talk to anyone in charge when you finally do talk to someone in charge the backpedal and make your complaints or feelings feel like they are invalid. I have a 7 month old baby and I came here to get my broken leg fixed and they put me in a rom with a lady who has covid. Now then they tried to kick me out but they couldn't bc it covid quarantine. Now they are treating me horribly. You get 1/2 days of good treatment any good reviews are probably from staff. I've been hearing ppl complainant yell about staff since I got here days ago

Yelp
The emergency room wait times are completely ridiculous. This is a great hospital when you finally do get care which you're going to wait damn near lifetime regardless if your foot is rotting and falling off having shortness of breath or been in a terrible car accident. I think the only way to get emergency care is to be airlifted into this place. My daughter has systemic lupus and has a great team of doctors here including her rheumatologist and her nephrologist but when she has to go to the emergency room for urgent care she sits for several hours. Yesterday she sat in the ER for six hours. She watched a woman experiencing some kind of psychotic breakdown, a gunshot victim, A woman experiencing shortness of breath and another person that came in with bleeding wounds and keep in mind she's on immuno suppressive medication at the same time. No lie this hospital's exceptional with their care when you are able to see a doctor. Because of the high rate of drug addicts and homelessness and mental health patients in this general area you get a ton of people in the emergency room and with that said that means the registration people are also going to be short tempered and tend to be rude. One of my daughters got hit by car some years ago and they provided excellent medical care for her while she was in patient for four days but her doctor discharged after those days because he felt like she was OK to go home. my daughter disagreed and claimed she didn't feel well enough to go home and was still in excruciating pain from her broken leg surgery. My daughter has went on several occasions and has had to sit in the waiting room for 2 to 6 hours and finally leaves to go to a different facility to get urgent care to avoid the long wait times. You will sit in the emergency room For extended amounts of time..

Yelp
I appreciate being taken care of in the harborview emergency room. I had head and wrist lacerations and a smashed elbow with air in the joint. I was there for 9 hours and most of that time was spent staring at the ceiling which is understandable as emergency rooms can get overwhelmingly busy. I was told I was going to get a sling for my arm, a brace for my other arm and a prescription for pain meds of which I got none. I called to ask about the oversight and I was told that I could go back to the er and get reevaluated. during my visit one of the doctors told me to my face that I would be getting a prescription for oxycontin but there was zero follow-through. still in pain and they, "can't do anything about it." they can't look up what doctors attended to me or talk to any of those doctors because that information is apparently unavailable to them. it took 4 operators sending my call to 4 wrong departments and getting hung up on to find this out. doctors and staff are great, administration is dreadful.

Yelp
Surgeon was great but a lot of the nurses were extremely unfriendly and the bathrooms were all filthy.

Yelp
Their Emergency room is the worse place you may ever have to be. They have patients in the hallways and everywhere and some are in agony and in bad distress and you are exposed to it all as a patient. They won't give you water and if you need an IV for fluids and they actually put the needle in you for labs, apparently you won't get an IV either. Very poor care except the neurologist who seemed to know what he was doing. The nurses spend most of their time looking at monitors and offer very little care. Our family member was taken there against our wishes but the for profit ambulance service that charged exorbitant fees claimed he was severe enough to have to be taken to harborview. I personally think they just get a kick back from Harborview or they didn't want to take the time to drive somewhere else since it was the closest. No follow up care, they didn't offer any resources. Of course their fees were very large.

Yelp
Very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the people working here-- their neurosurgical unit saved the life of a friend of mine 5 years ago-- wow. That person is now a fully functional human being again!! The Art Deco decor and the cleanliness of the hospital, and a reasonably priced cafeteria are nice touches to add to the experience.

Yelp
Initial encounter was decent. I ruptured my right eye with a blunt force trauma but falling on a concrete floor. They did the surgery to close the eye and kept me a couple of days to make sure there was not infection. They scheduled an appointment for check up and it went well. My next appointment was this Wednesday which was a one month check. This appointment seemed to go well until they released me and there was a problem with my contact lense. I went back to the Emergency last night and they adjusted it. This morning, it's pack out of alignment and very painful. I have been trying to see someone at the clinic to get a replacement for the lense since 8 am this morning. It's now 1:48 pm and I still have not had a resolution to this problem. I guess it's another visit to the ER. Damn unhappy!
