Padstow Harbour Hotel | Best places to stay in Padstow

"The first things you notice when you pull up outside this boutique gem are the view – over bustling fishing boats and charming coastal cottages, and out to sea – and the fresh, sea air. Inside, it’s a welcoming, comfortable place with colourful artwork, contemporary decor and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious, tasteful and newly renovated, and all come with marble bathrooms and free decanters of Gin and Sherry. The light-filled restaurant serves a decent made including many local specialities, and has sea views. It’s ideally set a few minutes’ walk up the hill from Padstow’s picturesque harbour, in the ideal location to explore one of Cornwall’s most charismatic towns, and the delights of the beautiful north Cornish coast. Great for all comers – there’s a sense of privacy for couples, and they’re very welcoming of children. " - Matthew Roach

Stayed at hotel for two nights while visiting Padstow and surroundings. We had the lower level rooms which was average in size but clean. The room doors opened out to a nice patio where we had take out fish and chips one night. Very nice. The bed was king size which was good and comfortable. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning but a small fan is available. Everything else the room has such as fridge safe chairs dyer etc. bathroom was roomy and good. The room was a little noisey around 4/5 am as staff were preparing for breakfast in the upstairs dinning rooms above our room. The hotel is within a five minute walk to the harbour. There is parking on site but spaces are tight for the larger cars. The breakfast dining room is excellent and is overlooking the bay. Breakfast was good. Go for the sausage egg and hash brown roll very nice. Coffee would come out warm and especially when you added milk would be cold. Staff were accommodating.

The room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable, as well as attractive with a comfy bed, air conditioning and perfect furniture etc. |Bathroom essentials were provided, room was clean, well maintained and organised, plenty of hanging space etc. |The bar, comfy seating area, and restaurants were welcoming and attractive, good choices, and tasteful. |The best thing was the staff, we were welcomed, shown around, and always dealt with effectively. The restaurant staff were very special, kind, helpful, caring and really friendly, we felt very well looked after. |There were a lot of dogs, largely very well behaved, and they were kept in one area.

We were so lucky to get a last minute, one night booking, and to get the last space in the overflow car park, into which our Mini could just fit. Lucky also the seagulls that control the overflow car park didn’t poop on our car as they did on all the others. The bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in, and our only minor grumble was that during the heat wave the fan barely provided relief. AC would be a wonderful addition. As would free tonics to go with the most welcome free gin in the room. Otherwise, the bathroom had a spacious bath & shower, and the breakfast was exceptionally good. We’d definitely stay again, and for a few nights to enjoy more of the hotel’s wonderful facilities.

We’ve stayed at the Padstow Harbour Hotel several times over the last 4-5 years. It’s sad to see today how much the hotel has deteriorated in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. The carpets on the staircase and in the bedrooms need a thorough shampoo - there are multiple stains and they are just grimy. Edges are full of dust and need a hoover . Paintwork throughout public areas and the bedrooms is badly scuffed and in need of a repaint . Car park is tatty with bushes overgrown and litter to be picked up. Outdoor chairs / cushions need a wipe down . Windows in our room needed a clean and a repair ( broken cord on sash window). I’m disappointed as it’s a 2 night stay for 2 rooms to celebrate our birthdays so a special occasion and not inexpensive. On a positive, lunch was very nice. Hotel just looks unloved and needs more maintenance. Agree with others on the gin but no tonic. Just stop it completely rather than only do a half hearted attempt. Used to be a lovely gesture to have a complimentary G&T ( and sherry !) in the room though.

The hotel is very well appointed, in an elevated position that gives uninterrupted views across the estuary from both the restaurant & many of the rooms. All the staff we met were knowledgeable & friendly and the standard of service, and more importantly, the quality of food on offer in The Jetty was excellent.|We had the set 2/3 course lunch, which was great quality & value. The Jetty Fishcake, with poached egg & Hollandaise, was the best we'd ever had & the Ham Hock terrine was excellent. We both enjoy fish & and seafood, so the Moules Mariniere and Pan Fried Fillet of seabass didn't disappoint, nor did the deserts of white chocolate & raspberry cheese cake and warm pistachio sponge! ||After a walk around Padstow & looking at what else was on offer at the many eateries in the town, we chose to return to The Jetty and sample more of their dishes for our evening meal and enjoy the great views from both the restaurant & our room.

We were given a voucher by our children for 'The Secret Garden Afternoon Tea Experience' at The Harbour Hotel in Padstow.|On arrival we were welcomed by Callum into the restaurant with views overlooking the estuary which gave it a wonderful ambience.|The afternoon tea was one of the best we have experienced and an extra treat was to have a glass of champagne with it. The assortment of sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious and beautifully presented in the traditional way. (see photo of menu)|Our waiter Callum was lovely and most helpful, attentive and informative throughout. |Note that this particular Afternoon Tea (Secret Garden) is only available for a limited period in the summer so call and check beforehand when you book.|We would highly recommend this experience.

This is the second time we've stayed in this hotel. First time we had a room overlooking the estuary, which can be quite noisy in the morning but isn't really a problem. This time, we had a room looking inward which was my choice, but the room was a bit tired. The carpet was stained and the chair really needed changing. The shower cubicle was showing wear and tear. The bed on the other hand was very big and comfortable. The view was of the fire escape stairs from a small window. This was room 19. The location is perfect for Padstow and the continental breakfast was very nice as we're all the staff. On our first visit, you had a fee gin and tonic, but on the second visit, the gin was still free, but the tonics you had to pay for. It was a lovely perk, so I don't understand why, for the sake of a couple of bottles of tonic that probably cost the hotel £2 this has been taken away, especially as you are paying £200 for the room each night.

Great location, good views, fair pricing…… unfortunately dropped a star by staff that don’t seem to be buying into the company ethos … not all of the staff, a couple where great …. But more than half of the staff we in countered on our short stay in July weren’t as friendly or helpful as you’d expect from a hotel of this quality …. Shame as we stay at their Salcombe hotel and more recently the Fowey hotel and the staff there have been happy, motivated and ready to assist you. Maybe it was us…. You try it out for yourself, for location and ease it ticks a box
