10 Michelin-Starred Restaurants in Wine Country

"Chef Matthew Kammerer’s fine-dining eatery is nestled inside a recently restored historic property dating back to 1916. “Great care is paid to details here, from employing local woods to smoke and grill as well as fish caught right off the coast, to house-made sea salt and vinegars.”" - The MICHELIN Guide

What an absolute gem of a find! From the fantastic warm welcome on arrival to our lovely well appointed room with so many nice touches; bottles of water, biscuits, and homely touches. Everything spotlessly clean and modern. Wish we could have stayed longer. Worth every penny. Breakfast delicious. Views are simply stunning. The customer lounge is vast with comfy chairs and glorious loch views. Go and grab your takeaway and wine / beer and return to enjoy your feast. Exactly what we did and plates and cutlery, plus glasses are available. We can’t thank you enough for such a memorable stay and we hope to return in the future.

We arrived off the ferry and stayed here for the evening. The rooms were very clean. We were welcomed with a wee dram of whiskey and shortbread cookie. We were also told that we could make ourselves comfortable with the wine that we bought earlier in the lounge before we headed out to dinner. They also provided a lovely hot breakfast cooked to order in the morning. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.

Good place to stay for a night or two. We had a room with loch view. The room is more than big enough for the two of us and had a descent size bathroom. The rooms were very clean and everything looked as new. We were welcomed by the owner with a glass of whisky and home made shortbread. The breakfast was fantastic, we could order from the kitchen. The kids had a separate room with 2 single beds. Would recommend to stay if you are doing the NC500.

The place should have 5* but sadly I’m giving it only 2* because you can hear everything that’s going on in the next room. We booked a one-night stay at £195 a night for husband’s birthday, which is quite pricey for a B&B, but we didn’t mind because it looked really good. It is much larger than s standard B&B and the owner told us it was originally built as a hotel. ||The room was lovely and comfortable with s view of Loch Broom. It was very clean except some of the grouting in the shower needs cleaning. ||When we went to bed we noticed we could hear the couple on the next room talking. They weren’t shouting but we could hear them well. Fortunately, I had ear plugs but when we finally went to sleep I could heat snores very clearly from the other room even with ear plugs on. We were woken up at 06:45 again with the couple talking… If they were intimate, we would have heard everything so thank goodness it was just talking. If we could hear them, they could hear us so it didn’t feel private or restful. ||The place could use some sound-proofing between rooms. Breakfast was ok, but we won’t be back because we didn’t get a proper sleep and for that price, it’s not a lot to ask. Disappointing.

A very warm welcome with the choice of sherry or whisky along with biscuits. The room was quite small but clean and well cared with a bathroom as well. A very cosy lounge and a terrace with a great view on Ullapool Harbour. Breakfast was delicious with quite a variety of food. The personnel was friendly and supportive. We stayed at the hotel just one night. So everything was just perfect.

Stayed here for 1 night while doing the NC500. Our host gave us a really nice welcome and even gave us a welcome glass of sherry or whisky. Our room was clean, comfortable and modern. Breakfast was delicious and had a decent choice. Would recommend and would stay here again.

I can not say enough about this place. We stayed in the luxury cabins down by the water which were only a short walk down a gravel path from the hotel itself. The receptionist was so nice every time we needed anything! They walked us back to the rooms and pointed out all the important things about the hotel and our room quickly on the way. The view from the rooms was amazing and they even provided very nice binoculars which made it easy to look at the waterfalls on the other side of the bay. The cabins were immaculate and it felt like a luxury resort with spacious closet, large bed, big vanity, backlit mirror, spacious shower, etc. They definitely thought of everything and provided everything we could have needed. Their breakfast was probably the best we had in Scotland and they didn’t require a reservation time. Our whole group said if we come back to Scotland we should stay in Ullapool longer so we could stay here!

We have stayed at Harbour House before and once again the accommodation, breakfast and service was excellent. The owners of the property were very welcoming and helpful. The location of Harbour House on the shores of Loch Broom is stunning and it is so convenient for walking into Ullapool for a meal. We will definitely be back again.
