Texas Barbecue Restaurant Black’s BBQ Was Issued Labor Violations Over Withheld Tips | Eater Austin

"A Dallas-area barbecue business that previously faced a Department of Labor investigation into tip and overtime practices and was ordered to pay more than $867,000 in back wages and overtime; the case has been cited as an example of how tip-sharing and compliance issues have tripped up Texas barbecue restaurants." - Polly Anna Rocha

I was really impressed with Hard 8! Even though it’s a chain, it feels completely original — warm, welcoming, and home-like. The brisket was the star of the meal — so tender, juicy, and full of flavor that it practically melted in my mouth. Big shoutout to the pit master who took great care with our cuts of meat and made the whole experience feel personal. Prices were fair too, not hard on the wallet at all. I’d recommend this place anytime — amazing BBQ and a great atmosphere!

The service by the guys who serve the meats is absolutely poor; i waited 22 min on the customer behind me, i ain’t exaggerating. Once i walked in to choose my sides and to pay, service by the ladies improved tremendously, Thank you Nada, Rosa, Morena and Teresa. They provided excellence which i couldn’t understand what happened with the guys serving the meat. Brisket had no taste. Iced tea was empty. Honestly i will go to the colony location.

All of the staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. It is similar to a “buffet style” restaurant. As you walk up in line (there is two lines, one is behind the first line) you will choose your meats straight off the smokers. It gets weighed and then from there you will go inside the building and that is where everything for your sides is located buffet style. Once you choose your sides you will check out and sit wherever you would like. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We heard good things about this place, I made the hour drive to give it a try and They did not disappoint!

Google
The people at the bbq that serve the food are very friendly and helpful, if you don’t know how much 1/3 or 1/2 of a pound of something is they will cut it for you so you have a visual representation and know if you are ordering too much or too little. It can get a bit pricey, it’s very easy to run your check high if you’re ordering willy nilly, so only order what you’re going to eat really. The brisket is more on the meaty side so if you like more of the fatty brisket let them know when they are cutting it for you, ribs are great, they have different sausages and they are all good. Bbq sauce is great, desserts are amazing. The mac and cheese is SO GOOD! Don’t leave without trying it.

Man I've eaten at many BBQ places in Texas and this is one of the best. Man I walked in and ordered my BBQ straight from the pit master. And they were real nice and friendly the restaurant set up is perfectly done a real nice atmosphere with a live band. I ordered brisket, half a chicken, jalapeno sausage, pork ribs, and beef ribs. Let me tell you them beef ribs are the best. Hats off to the pit masters and the lady's at the salad bar. If I could put 10 stars I would.

Hard Eight BBQ – A True Taste of Texas I love good BBQ, and tonight I finally had the chance to experience authentic Texas barbecue at Hard Eight BBQ. This place is unlike any other restaurant I have visited. They run a buffet-line style selection process that works beautifully. Pro tip for first-timers: read the sign before you enter. It explains the process and will save you from over-ordering, something I admittedly failed to do. Since this was my first visit, I decided to try a little bit of everything: brisket, pulled pork, spicy sausage, bacon-wrapped shrimp, fried okra, twice-baked potato salad, baked beans, and corn on the cob. The BBQ was excellent across the board, but the fried okra stole the show and was hands down the best I have ever had. While outside, I had the chance to chat with one of the cooks, who explained that a crew comes in at 10 PM every night to start cooking the meats. They use massive BBQ pits fueled by fresh wood coals from two giant wood burners. It was an impressive operation and made me appreciate the flavor even more. If you are looking for something unique and authentically Texan, head over to Hard Eight BBQ and experience it for yourself. Just be prepared to eat and enjoy a lot.

Our first visit to Hard 8 BBQ was exactly what we were hoping for in authentic Texas food! While waiting at the airport, we overheard someone say Hard 8 was a must-stop if you’re visiting Dallas—and we’re so glad we listened. From the moment we walked in, the smoky aroma let us know we were in for something special. The brisket and ribs were melt-in-your-mouth tender, bursting with flavor, and cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese and sweet corn were the perfect sides—comforting, rich, and full of that Southern charm. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better… the pecan pie sealed the deal. Buttery, nutty, and sweet in all the right ways—it was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. If you’re anywhere near Dallas and craving true Texas BBQ, Hard 8 is a must. We’ll be dreaming about that brisket and pecan pie until our next visit!

Google
If you’ve never been the staff will fully orient you in the process-you walk in and get to see/smell the smoked meats when making your selection. My eyes were bigger than my stomach but it’s hard to resist when you see all the meat outside. They have a few sides outside but most are inside. Everything I had was delicious-needed no sauce whatsoever. I had smooth buttery brisket (super tender), jalapeño sausage -so flavorful, and delectable bacon wrapped shrimp. I had street corn, Mac n cheese, and a slice of chocolate pecan pie…I need a box please!!

Yelp
OMG!!! Probably THE BEST BRISKET and RIBS we've put in our mouths!!! The Restaurant is truly Family style with Super welcoming and Friendly staff. When you walk in the Display of grilled and Smoked Meats are right in front of you to choose. The Corn on the Cobb is a must. We really enjoyed the Brisket and Ribs. Tender and juicy. Will return to this place whenever we visit Texas. So much Love for this Establishment. You literally TASTE the Love. I could just stand and watch the grill masters work their Art of Meats!! A A BEAUTIFUL THING.

Yelp
Tender smoked meats by the pound. It's the same price for ribs or brisket and more. Cafeteria process, grab meats than additional cost for condiments okra, mac/cheese, salad and soda. Service was friendly and helpful. Dark inside sitting and there is outside seating. If you dine in, there is a japeno type of beans in a broth gives kick of spice to the beans.

Yelp
Casual walk-up BBQ joint where you order by the pound and grab a seat anywhere inside. The BBQ itself was just okay, but the service made up for it fast, friendly, and helpful both outside and at the bar. Inside has rustic vibes with a mix of stools and high-tops. If you're vertically challenged in the leg department like me, avoid the high-tops unless you enjoy your feet awkwardly dangling in space.

Yelp
As a Californian by day but a Texan at heart; this was a fun local spot (one of many locations) to get some Texas style BBQ. I got the jalapeno cheese sausage and chopped brisket with okra. Everything was delicious and the decor is down home. You order in a cafeteria style line, pay then seat yourself. Easy and good.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm on a mission to try all the BBQ spots in Texas, or at least it feels that way. Today's stop was a DFW institution with a few locations around town. It was good, but honestly, not as good as another DFW chain I love, Hutchins. This place had solid BBQ, but fewer sides and noticeably higher prices. The beef rib was my favorite, and the corn was also really good. We went at an odd time in the late afternoon, so all the hot sides were pre-packaged, which was a little disappointing. On the plus side, don't forget about the free beans over by the condiments. They do have a few made-to-order sides like fried okra, which we tried and enjoyed. My only real complaint is that the ordering system felt a bit confusing, even though they post instructions by the front door.

Yelp
Trip to Dallas with my husband on his business trip. Ty he host held dinner here. I was so excited to try here very in Dallas Texas food! Everybody has to stand in line for order and tell the staff what you want. It was very long line to order but felt like standing in line for Disney attraction! lol!! I already enjoyed even before got meal. It was hot and felt real BBQ area with smoke. I followed our host and ordered little bit and little bit each meat. They scaled your meal weight and passed the receipt then took it to cashier. Well, their brisket is the winnah!!!! Tender and flavorful, even I'm not so much brisket meat person, that's the best! Also sirloin was good!! Tender and tasty. Their frozen margarita and frozen whiskey & coke are also very fresh and nice. If there is a chance to back to Dallas, I'd like to back here again!

Yelp
Loved the bbq! It was really cool watching the meat grill outdoor and we ordered way more than we could finish. Everything looked heavenly for a meat lover! Inside, there were a number of side dishes and desserts. The meat was cooked perfectly, the bbq sauce was great (spicy one is more of a Carolina bbq sauce), and the desserts were a sweet way to end the meal. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. Service was friendly and the dining area was a fun, communal environment. Will definitely visit again when we're in the area!

Yelp
We got there on a relatively slow Sunday night. I had some beef ribs and some brisket. I think both had been left on the warmer too long. Very dry. So unlike a normal barbecue. Bottom line is I will not be back.
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
I came here two years ago and loved it. This time around wasn't quite as good. The brisket was a little on the dryer side this time...however the ribs and jalapeño shrimp poppers were delicious. The vibes here are always good though. Great BBQ atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely worth a stop

Yelp
In Texas for a conference so you know I had to try out some Texas BBQ. One of the clerks at the front desk advised me that Hard Eight was a good pick. It wasn't a bad spot. We had to catch a uber to get there because it wasn't close to the hotel we stayed at. When we arrived we could smell the meat being cooked over a wood fire. Smelled delicious. It was pretty crowded so you know the food had to be good. I ordered the half of a chicken with a side of sweet potato fries. They dipped the chicken into garlic butter before placing it on my tray. Chicken was juicy and well seasoned. They have a full bar inside as well so if you prefer an adult beverage you can get it from here too.
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
Food is great! The concept is uniquely Texas! Love the ability to order by weight! Have had everything but the steak! When I come to DFW area we always try to make it Coppell. Brisket is great and the chicken is well as well! The sides are classic bbq. It's a great place! Free smells too!

Yelp
This was my first time at Hard Eight BBQ. The restaurant definitely has a warm, friendly, and comfortable Texas barbecue feeling. I really like being able to pick the meat selections right out of the smoker. We had pulled pork, brisket, jalapeño, and cheddar sausage, and a variety of side dishes. Each was excellent. Considering the volume they put out, this was impressive.
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
What a fantastic spot. I have no doubts that there are even better barbecue spots in the area, but I loved how easy, quick, and tasty this place was. I rolled in and asked for 1/4lb of their top 4 things, got a few sides, pickles, onions, sauce. Loved the jalapeno sausage and bacon wrapped chicken bites. Brisket was decent but just a tad dry.
google avatar

Debra W.

Yelp
As an out of towner I felt like this was the real Texas experience. A true meat lovers dream.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
Not the worst BBQ but if you're looking to get blown away, just because this is Texas, you may be disappointed. The brisket tatsed bland. It had some marbling but tasted dry anyway, how's that possible? Salt.. do they forget to season here in DFW? Seriously. Pork ribs were overcooked and very dry on the outside and hard to bite in. The chicken was cooked the best but I feel like the white meat was still a bit overcooked, but closer to the center it was nearly perfect, very juicy but a bit of a flavor would have been nice
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
Meat everywhere! This place just does it right. Trying to nitpick and find flaws anywhere comes up fruitless. There's not much negative press you could give this place.
google avatar

Derrick D.

Yelp
This wasn't my first visit to Hard Eight but haven't reviewed before. They never come up for "best in the area" but I absolutely love this bbq restaurant. I've never had a bad meal. The brisket is unctuous and tender. The ribs, first time, were so nice. Fall of the bone but with a bite. I loved that they were seasoned without sweet rubs. Fries always great and the potato salad was awesome. It's bustling place and lines can get super long. You don't get much service but the folks on the lines are always willing to help and are nice and pleasant. Like I said, super busy, lots of people but plenty of space to sit down. Decor is fun and it looks like your big boy bbq shop. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
I thought it was only okay... my brisket was dry. The ribs were good but nothing special. My friend's steak was delicious but otherwise... I thought it wasn't the best Dallas has to offer. Big parking lot in the back. Close to the airport

Yelp
How we've missed Texas BBQ! Living in NM, the place where a Texas BBQ Chain was rated Best of City (it's good - but best?). We don't see much great BBQ here. This place was great, meats done up by a pit master at the location using mesquite coals. You can taste the difference. Brisket was tender with great flavor. The sausage great without being greasy. You can grab beans from the bean pot. Deserts are there - whiskey buttermilk pie, cobblers & of course Pecan Pie. Rustic looking interior & long, picnic table seating looks like Texas me. Yep, miss Texas BBQ
google avatar

Uriia H.

Yelp
My colleague and I tried this place after a recommendation. It was a 1000 degrees, so I didn't like that we were outside near the pits standing in line to order. The smoke lingered in my clothes and hotel room. I ordered brisket and sausage. I wanted a baked potato and assumed they would have some inside with all the other sides..any side that's located near the meat has to be ordered there. I instead got the Mac n cheese. This and the sausage were good. Brisket was super dry. Place was pretty crowded. Sorry I forgot to take pics but it was just an ok experience.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a totally awesome BBQ joint. Had the jalapeño sausage, pulled pork and a couple chicken poppers. The bean pot well that was awesome as well. If you leave hungry it's your fault. Service was great and since I was a first timer there they took the time to explain how to order. Love the environment and it just felt like you belonged there.

Yelp
Not a great experience. The entrance and food line is not climate controlled, which is fine on the weekend but not when you're in a suit going to a meeting nearby. It's a neat-looking setup but it was HOT between the weather and being so close to the grill. You stand in a Disney-style line and order from the guy working the grill when you get up to him. That part would be cool in nicer weather. I ordered a half pound of moist brisket and a half chicken. Looked pretty good. When I got to checkout I found out that he gave me 2/3 of a pound, which meant I was also paying for 2/3 of a pound. Found a seat and went to get my drink. They offer a free pot of beans next to the drink counter, so I got a little cup. The brisket slices were thick and very moist. Unfortunately they were too fatty, including quite a bit of fat that didn't render. More importantly, the flavor just wasn't there. A few bites had a nice bark, but most of it was relatively bland. Same for the chicken. It was beautiful, but just didn't have much flavor. The beans were my favorite thing in the plate, which isn't a good thing. Definitely didn't live up to the hype.
google avatar

Aleecia D.

Yelp
I was a bit confused in the ordering process, but I believe that to be user error. The staff working the smokers and ordering station are very helpful and guided my confused mind. Inside the sides bar was clear and fully stocked, so many options I couldn't get them all even though I wanted to. Decor and restaurant overall was very on theme and a classic bbq or meat centric restaurant type. Lots of wood and framed classic photos, very cute. The food was so good, I am not the biggest bbq fan going in but I kept and open mind. When I tell you I am happy I did, I mean it. The half chicken was delicious, I only wish I had a second stomach to eat more. I took a picture of my plate before and after and for your own sake I wont share the second one, but my goodness there was so much food here and I wanted it all.
google avatar

Raymond J.

Yelp
As far as Texas BBQ this place is doing it right. Not that they are the best in town or certainly not the cheapest. But doing it right. Unfortunately your eyes are usually way bigger than your stomach which sells a boatload of BBQ and usually you're doing a second take at the register when you see the total. You're like what did I just do, not like you can take it back . $155.00 for 3 of us for lunch. But some of the best brisket around. Nice ribs and the shrimp/jalapeño poppers bit spicy. Chicken/bacon/jalapeño poppers are the best. Just go right to the smoker and pick as little or as much as you want. 2 kinds of sauce, sweet thicker and thin spicy. All kinds of sides. Desserts etc jalapeño beans. If you go home hungry you didn't have enough $$ or you are a vegetarian. Good friendly people

Yelp
I really don't like to give reviews like this but I really want this Texas barbeque restaurant to do better . Brisket should be your bread and butter. You can't rush it. Your brisket just wasn't cooked long enough . The fat was not rendered . It looked gelatinous. Was unpleasant . Just didn't have a good taste at all . Not sure what kind of wood was used to smoke. The pork ribs were better but I wouldn't order them again. The jalapeño sausage was better than both of those. It was very spicy as well. Regular potato salad was good. Pinto beans in the big pot were decent . We were split on mac and cheese. Unsweetened tea was good but sweet tea you could stand a spoon up in it . You need to pour half of it out and add unsweet tea. The staff came by several times to check on us. They were very nice . 4 men sat at our table . One took a bite of everything on his tray and then that was it. He said I don't like anything. Two of the guys said they were disappointed in the chicken. Thought it would be better. I just could not recommend this restaurant. Maybe it was just a bad day. Whoever was cooking was lazy or untrained. I really think you'll need to do better.Sorry

Yelp
I was driving through Dallas and stopped in at Hard Eight BBQ for dinner. I ordered the half chicken, sweet potato fries, and coleslaw. The pickles, onions, and jalapeños are free to grab along with a few different sauces. The chicken was cooked well and had a good seasoning on it. The sweet potato fries were also pretty tasty. Coleslaw was decent but I probably wouldn't order it again, there are other sides I would try instead. The restaurant is pretty casual, you order at the counter and get your food on a tray, self serve drinks and condiments. Overall I thought it was a pretty good bbq place that I would visit again if I'm in the area.

Yelp
First time visiting! Brought my parents here to enjoy some Texas bbq and we were not disappointed! The line moved fairly quickly and the highlight for me was the attention to service and accommodations. My family and I don't eat beef so we kindly asked them to be mindful of that and instead of brushing us off as some have done in the past, they went ahead and washed all the utensils and boards they used to make sure there was limited cross contamination. Honestly it's the little things like this that make me want to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Tried a little bit of everything - I'm from NC so I wanted to see the difference. It was different and the customer service was 10/10! Staff were very informative and helpful as soon as you walk in. Outdoorsy vibe with plenty indoor and sheltered outdoor seating. Some of the seasonings were a bit too salty for MY TASTE but if that's your thing then it's perfect.

Yelp
The parking lot was full when we arrived so we assumed there would be a long wait. Lucky for us this place has their act together and they had the lines moving. What happened next was amazing! We got to experience the best BBQ that we have ever had. The brisket was amazingly juicy and not over seasoned. The ribs fell off the bone. Even the sweet potatoe was incredibly good. Easy all around. Priced with the market. Appropriately furnished and welcoming. Come and get it!
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
This place is legit. As you go through the line, the food and options just get better and better. If you're not careful it's so easy to end up with 2-3X what you could possibly eat. But it goes home super easy so you got leftovers! The ribs were good, could have been a little meatier, but good flavor. Sausage was very good, moist and flavorful. Brisket was a little bit of a disappointment, too dry unfortunately and didn't really have any bark for that extra flavor. As for sides, cole slaw was surprisingly amazing, decent fried okra (but not as hot as I would have liked as they were sitting under heat lamp). The banana pudding was off the hook amazing. Must have. Lots of seating, casual and you order your meat at the pit. Great place and experience. Would love to come back!

Yelp
I'm a sucker for craft bbq places in Texas and this place checked all the boxes. Went on an idle Monday so no line. Friendly meat carvers and then went on into the sides area. Small portions of sides but not bad. Huge seating areas which the staff checked in every 10 mins or so which was nice. The brisket was good but not the best I've had. The Jalapeno sausage which was probably the best dish was great. very flavorful. Ribs were fall off the bone good. Overall, meat quality was good. Sort of wish it was a bit more hot seeing as we just got it carved. The Brisket could have been more flavorful. A solid 4 star bbq place!
google avatar

Nelson L.

Yelp
Good solid Texas bbq. We came in the mid afternoon on a weekday and it looked like they had all the meats still available. No line and plenty of seating. Plenty of parking as well. Service was good. Clean restaurant overall. To be honest, the brisket was actually kind of disappointing, as it was kind of dry and lacked the moistness Texas bbq is famous for. Maybe just a bad batch or not fresh brisket? The half chicken and ribs were good. The sirloin was our clear favorite as it was a perfect medium rare. Corn on the cob was also superb. The complimentary beans we pretty good too.
google avatar

Taylor V.

Yelp
Entering the resturant you are hit with the smoke smell from the fresh cooked meats. You first select your meats which are freshly cut I front of you. You continue into the restaurant to selected your sides, they have endless options, Mac and cheese, corn, beans, baked potatoes and more. Ordering your food and selecting the sides is extremely fast, you select any open seat. The food was great, exactly what you would expect Texas bbq to taste like.
google avatar

Frank L.

Yelp
Unlike Geno Smith and all the mid hawks fans who think hes good, Hard8 is better then mid. 3.5 Stars. From the parking lot, the BBQ smells let you know you're in for a treat. Line out the door that moved at a decent speed, it was fun to watch people in front of you order and then take your turn. The chicken was surprisingly good amongst the normal BBQ selections (none of the norms stood out great but certainly was enjoyed). The actual service, the cooks, the cashier, the crew in the dining room are 4+ stars no doubt, very friendly, accommodating and just overall gave a great vibe. A great time to be had here with family, friends, co workers for sure.
google avatar

Jasmin S.

Yelp
BBQ is always great here. This time we got a half chicken, baked potato with chopped brisket and other stuff. Service was pretty fast this time and they have their typical farm/cowboy feel ambiance.
google avatar

Angie K.

Yelp
2nd time here and still have not tried all the meats! Great BBQ either way so many options for meats and sides. Be careful it is very easy to order enough for 2-3 people in one sitting. Must have the BBQ sauces to go with the meats and all the sides! Fried okras, onion ring, creamy corn, just to name a few. The staff are all very friendly and helpful! This is the place to go when you are craving for real Texas BBQ!

Yelp
You won't leave hungry, that's a promise. All the locals recommended this place, so I know I had to make a visit. Meats here are sold by the pound (or half). They only list a few sides outside, but it doesn't stop there. They have a multitude of different side options inside (macaroni and cheese, salad, French fries, etc.). I was able to enjoy the pulled pork and ribs. Both meats were delicious. The pulled pork was juicy, but the ribs required a bit of their sauce. While eating in, I sat at the bar where I was greeted by the most friendly staff member (shout out Tiyana ). Additionally, the ambience is very southern chic. They have long tables to accommodate bigger groups. Make sure to give this place a try

Blake N.

Yelp
Hard Eight BBQ in Coppell is straight-up Texas pit magic. Walk in, grab a tray, and let the smoke lead you to the 8 oz ribeye. Order it rare plus because it hits the table on a screaming-hot cast iron skillet and keeps cooking on the way over. That sear locks in juices, and by the time you cut in, it's a perfect medium-rare with a crust that cracks like candy. Worth every penny. Then there's the stuffed baked potato: a spud the size of your forearm loaded with butter, cheese, sour cream, chives, and your choice of chopped brisket or pulled pork. It's a meal disguised as a side. Grab extra napkins. The line moves fast, sides like jalapeño creamed corn and pinto beans slap, and the banana pudding is non-negotiable. Pro tip: hit it early or late to beat the crowd. Hard Eight Coppell never misses.
google avatar

Nathan W.

Yelp
My church catored them twice. First time I was like o great another place that put odd sides with BBQ. What is corn on the Cobb, green bean, ranch style beans, Cole slaw, Mac n cheese with no cheese. But I digress. It's not the kind of BBQ I normally eat. I like southern black grandpa and grandma kind of BBQ. The second time made me never wanna go back. Was not seasoned at all and sides again wasn't worth a try. But it's a good place to eat if you like options. At least they have that much.

Yelp
Listen, if you're going to Hard 8, you're not there for fine dining or tablecloths. You're there to stand in line, sweat a little, and earn your meat--and honestly? It's worth it. The brisket is everything it should be: smoky, juicy, and basically melts when it hits your tongue. If you're not getting the brisket, you're doing it wrong. The pork ribs? Shockingly great. Perfect bark, solid flavor, and just the right amount of resistance so they don't just fall apart like soggy paper towels. Respect. Now, the real plot twist: the banana pudding. I don't say this lightly--it's elite. Creamy, dreamy, and somehow manages to hit every nostalgic note without feeling like a lazy throwback. You could honestly skip the meat and just get a tray of pudding and no one would judge you (I mean, I would, but silently). Be ready to wait. The line wraps around like you're trying to get into a club, and the seating situation feels like musical chairs with a side of brisket. But hey, it's Texas BBQ--chaos comes with the territory. Would I fight someone over that banana pudding? Yes. Yes, I would.

Yelp
Best BBQ I Have Ever Tasted Pulled up to Hard 8 this past Saturday around 4PM to see what the Texas BBQ scene was looking like while in town--and from start to finish, it hit all the right notes. First off, the location was super easy to find and they've got plenty parking, which made things smooth from the jump. We were seated right away--no wait, no hassle. The vibe inside? Very homely and not stuffy. The food? Fire. Everything was prepared exactly how we wanted. Brisket in particular was next level--rich, clearly made with fresh ingredients, and hands down the best I've ever had. The sides were all made with plenty of love and freshness. I'd highly recommend the potato salad, creamed corn, and slaw. The meat was priced by the weight - great pricing as well. Nothing on the plate did not taste good Given the quality of the food, the service, and the overall experience, the price was absolutely worth it. You're getting a full experience here, not just a meal. I could definitely see myself coming back next time I'm in town. Highly recommend if you're looking for some real Texas BBQ!!

Yelp
Hard Eight is LEGIT! We made a pit stop for lunch and really enjoyed the visit! The chopped beef was lean and delicious. I paired it with a salad and 1/4 lb was plenty for me. My husband had a stuffed potato and it was filling. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere is full of energy and very open. I love everything about Hard Eight!!

Yelp
My husband used to travel to Texas monthly on business and he always raved about the BBQ here. Recently, we were visiting Texas he brought me here. He wasn't kidding about the BBQ here! I love BBQ, and this did not disappoint! Located in kind of an industrial area, which was kind of weird, but it wasn't deterring patrons. The place was absolutely packed, The ordering process was a little odd, but my husband walked me through it. You enter the restaurant and immediately line up in front of the hard workers and pit masters. You tell them what types of meat you want and how much. Then you proceed further into the restaurant to order your sides and drinks. A lot of the tables are communal. The food was absolutely delicious and the whole experience screamed Texas! A fantastic experience and meal!

Yelp
Excellent turkey breast and baked potato. Lots of traffic but they kept the line moving. Lots of good parking.

Yelp
What a great place. You can smell the brisket when you pull up. I ordered the brisket and smoked sausage with a baked potato. It was all amazing. Service was quick and easy. Highly recommend you check out this amazing place

Yelp
I had high hopes going in but was pretty disappointed in the overall quality of the bbq. The brisket and turkey were lackluster at best, with the brisket being cooked way too hot hence the bottom being very burned and the brisket itself being very overdone. The turkey tasted as if it was cooked in an oven and didn't have much smoke flavor. The actual restaurant itself is great and is a great experience.

Yelp
Classic Texas BBQ for an amazing price! Hard 8 is all about the experience from ordering straight from the pit, choosing from the selection of sides (try the fried okra and onion rings), and pouring your own sauce. The food here is the real deal. Great smoky flavor and super fresh taste. This is what I was looking for during my trip to Dallas. The service is great! The pit masters are knowledgeable about the different cuts of meat and are more than happy to talk it over with you. The ambiance gives you the feel of an authentic Texas BBQ experience. Well worth the visit.
