Southern fare like ribs, fried chicken & cornbread muffins dished out in a funky, down-home setting.
"The Dogpatch Hard Knox location is funky in a good way that you don’t see much in SF. The décor is a mish-mash of corrugated metal walls, worn hardwood floors, and a jumble of “art” on the walls (an old Coca-Cola ad, a “slow” street sign, enormous fish sculptures, and a life preserver). But none of that is why you’re going to Hard Knox — you're going for the fried chicken, the thing for which this southern home-style cooking restaurant is known. There are other yummy things on the menu (fried pork chops, blackened catfish, barbecue spareribs, etc.), but the fried chicken is what to get, accompanied by two sides and a corn muffin or a buttermilk Belgian waffle." - Justine Jones, Daisy Barringer
"Hard Knox Café is back open for takeout and dine-in, including plates of juicy, hot fried chicken. Order a plate of spicy or regular fried chicken snuggled up with sides like collard greens and coleslaw, or have it resting atop a fluffy Belgian waffle. In addition to the original location in Dogpatch, there’s also a second outpost in the Richmond avenues." - Lauren Saria, Eater Staff
