We really looked forward to the opening of this casino. It was years in the making, so the anticipation was high. First of all, they did a nice job overall. And being that we came on a Saturday night less than a month after it opened, there were a lot of people here.
Positives. They have a lot of games here, especially slots. You'd be hard pressed not to find a slot machine to play if that's your thing. They also have all the major table games, which were very popular. On the outskirts there's a large poker room that didn't have a lot of traffic when we peeked in. As for food, they have 3-4 casual dining spots in the front including pizza, Mexican, Asian and pastries. The main bar is in the middle back side of the casino and in back of that is a sit-down style restaurant. Their menu is mostly Americana. In the far back left corner of the casino is a smaller bar, which sits in front of the concert venue and ticket office. They also have a steakhouse, gift shop, and a couple of high stakes rooms.
Negatives. Drinks are very hard to get here. They do have waitresses walking around offering and they do their best. But the main bar is where 99% go to get a drink if they aren't in a restaurant, including the wait staff, and the bar was only manned by four people on a busy Saturday night. It took about 20 minutes to get a drink just waiting in line, and those come in a half-seize plastic solo cup filled with ice. Terrible. On the left side of the casino they have a ton of table games that were all closed. Pretty sure they won't get busier than we what we experienced on a Saturday night, why not open them? You needed a crowbar to get into any table on the right side, and several games had folks standing in back of playing patrons just waiting to get in. Two of the three table game areas were completely closed. They have automated roulette and blackjack, but not craps. Definitely a mistake. We've been to other casinos that offer craps and they're wildly popular. Another problem with the automated roulette and blackjack games were that each had a minimum bet of $5. Every other casino we've been to that has these machines offers minimum bets of $2, with some as low as 50 cents.
This casino is aesthetically pleasing to look at, but it has a lot of flaws. When two thirds of your table games are closed on a packed Saturday night, you're totally mismanaged. They need to add another bar for patrons and we were surprised they didn't have soft drink stations like most other casino's. If you're looking to play a table game you better have a ton of patience and enjoy watching others play for hours on end before you might get your turn. And do 99% of us a favor and get rid of your two high stakes rooms. A total waste. Both were empty, yet fully staffed. If those folks come out and staff the normal gaming tables, I guarantee each table will be filled in seconds.
All in all, I don't see a reason to come back. Go up to Potawatami in Milwaukee and see how a casino is done right. And by the way, my review comes after I won money. A lot of change to be done here.
Cheers.
